Kathleen G. Long
Kathleen G. Long, 38, of Hampshire, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
She was born June 18, 1965 in Chicago, the daughter of Charles and Judith (Kindness) Long. Kathy was a 1982 graduated of East Leyden High School and had attended Southern Illinois University. She had been employed as a police dispatcher with the Schaumburg Police Department for the past several years and for several municipalities prior.
Surviving are her parents, Charles and Judith Long of Hampshire; sister, Judith Ann Long of Hampshire; brother, Michael (Monica) Long of Chippewa Falls, WI; her niece, Sammantha; paternal grandmother, Genevieve Sarenac of Bristol, WI; godmother, Elizabeth Rogers of Norridge; and several aunts, uncles and cousins; and her cat, "Sammi".
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Daniel Sarenac and John and Florence Kindness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson St., Hampshire with Fr. Joseph Nicolosi officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Borromeo cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire.

Dorothy T. Mitchell
Dorothy T. Mitchell, 92, died May 3, 2004 in Elgin.
She is survived by one daughter, Julie (Peter) Mikulak of Elgin; two grandsons, Peter and Zachary Mikulak of Elgin; one sister and one brother.
Services were held in Ludington, MI. Memorials may be directed to Apostolic Christian Rest Haven.

Noel L. Ross "Bam"
Noel L. "Bam" Ross, 41 of Rockford, formerly of Elgin, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2004 at 2:15 a.m., in Swedish American Covenant Hospital in Rockford, IL. He was born September 21, 1962 in Jackson, TN.
"Bam" was preceded in death by his parents, John and Audrey Ross, as well as his step-mother, Mary H. Ross.
Survivors include his 2 sons, Tony and Patrick Jackson of Elgin; his sister, Johnna "Kathy" Ross; and his five brothers, John (Diane) Blalark, Nelson Blalark, Darrell Ross, Victor (Crystal) Ross and Baron "Chip" Ross. Step-brothers and sister include Dorie Clark of Portland, OR, Jeanette Garcia of Elgin, Louis (Betty) Clark of Carterville, GA. Sam Houston, Oliver (Erica) Houston, and Wayne Houston of Elgin, and a long blood line of Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2004 from 10-11 a.m. in the Living Gospel Church of God in Christ, with Rev. Walter Blalark officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9-10 a.m. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Ronald Eugene Eppley
Ronald Eugene Eppley, age 77, of Norfork, AR, formerly of Elgin, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005. He was born September 22, 1927 at Dundee, IL, the son of Raymond & Emma Wiechert Eppley.
Ronald married Junita Duvall Balanoff on June 17,1985 in Mountain Home, AR. He was a manager of Carscope Railroad of the Soo Line Railroad. He lived in Elgin, IL, prior to moving to Norfork in 1986. He was a sports fan, loved fishing, model cars and golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Eppley of Norfork; three sons, Larry (LeeEllen) Eppley of Palatine, IL, Lance (Maureen) Eppley of St. Petersburg, FL, Leighton Eppley of Dundee, IL; a daughter, Linda (David) Wear of Ridgefield, WA; a stepson, Glenn Balanoff and Julie Essey of Arvada, CO; grandchildren, Hanna Marcia and Henry Taylor Wear, Madison Catherine and Gabreilla Beline Eppley, Gavin Lawrence and Spencer Essey; cousins, Jim and Dorothy Chase and Harry Wiechert of Elgin, IL; and nephew, Gordon (Valerie) Eppley of Chetek, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM, Sunday, May 8, 2005 at the Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home, 600 Hospital Dr, Mountain Home, AR (870) 425-6978. Funeral Services for Ronald Eugene Eppley will be at 10 AM, Monday, May 9, 2005 at the funeral home chapel, with Reverend Michael Alley, officiating. Entombment will be in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum.

Carol M. Streetz
Carol M. Streetz, 75, of Streamwood. Born May 15, 1929 in Chicago, she passed away May 5, 2005 in Elgin. Beloved wife of the late Donald. Loving mother of Donna Wells, David Streetz and Dawn (Jay) Seyl; proud grandmother of Jennifer, Rebecca, Robert and Ashley; dear sister of George (Barbara) Loetz.
She was preceded in death by her two daughters, Susan in infancy and Diane.
Visitation Friday 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington) Rd.) Streamwood/Schaumburg.

Ruth R. Bowers
Ruth R. Bowers, 90, of Elgin passed away April 28, 2004 at Rosewood Care center in Elgin. She was born on November 18, 1913 in Wayne City, Illinois and was the daughter of Newton and Clara McKiney Richards.
Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church of Elgin. She worked with the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts where her son became an Eagle Scout. She was employed for several years at the Elgin Daycare Center and became the director of the center. She also worked at Ackerman Department Store.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Lisa) Fitts of Hanover Park; her sister, Hester Wiley of Elgin; a brother, Robert Richards of Elgin; two grandchildren, Nicole (Eric) Khazel of CO and Chad Fitts of LA; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard Fitts in 1977; a son, Ronald Fitts in 1949; two sisters, Irene Richards and Dorothy Swensen; and a brother, Lester Richards.
Funeral service will be Monday, May 10 at 10:00 a.m at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park. Arrangements by Madison Funeral Home (847)741-1128.

William Collett Brummett
William Collett Brummett of Elgin passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2004 in his home. He was born in Chrisman, IL and was the son of Hugh and Frances Brummett.
He had been a resident of Elgin for the past 48 years. He was a World War II Army Air Force Pilot and was sent by the U.S. Government to Great Britain before our troops were sent there to learn Air & Sea Rescue and Flight Control. He set up operations at several air bases in the U.S.A. for the experimental new aircraft, B29. He was also sent to Jamaica for operations for the British and U.S.A.
He was a graduate of Danville High School in Danville, IL and a graduate of Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN. He was Agency Superintendent for United States Fidelity and Guaranty, with offices on Jackson Blvd. in Chicago, for 31 years, before retiring.
He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, the Anchor Lodge Masons of Danville, IL, the Scottish Rite Society, the Medinah Temple, and the American Air Museum in Britain. He was also a member of the Military Officers Association - West Suburban Chapter, American Legion Post No. 57 of Elgin, B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge No. 737 of Elgin, and he was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club of Elgin.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly P. Brummett; two daughters, Holliday B. Milby-Hardin of Phoenix, AZ and Mellody B. Gartley-Berlage of Hannover, Germany; two granddaughters, Blythe C. Milby of Phoenix, AZ and Rachel C. Gartley of New York City. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Private burial will be in Kansas. Visitation will be at time of services only. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Golden K Kiwanis Club of Elgin or to Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN.

Marjorie M. Burbank
Marjorie M. Burbank, 91, of Floral City, FL, formerly of Elgin, passed away on May 4, 2004 in Florida. She was born on March 12, 1913 and was the daughter of John and Felice Backes. She moved to Florida in 1979. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Floral City, FL and a member of the Citrus County Historical Society.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Ann (William) of FL and Sandra Lee (George) Payne of TX; a brother, Robert Backes of FL; a sister, Marie Jones, also of FL; four grandchildren, Jay and Ben Payne, Kara Hidlebaugh and Kris Kein; eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy in 1983 and a brother, Peter Backes.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2004 at 12:15 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements by Madison Funeral Home (847)741-1128.

Marjorie Ruth Goeke
Marjorie Ruth Goeke, 88, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at her home. She was born July 7, 1915 in San Luis Obispo, CA the daughter of Carl and Frances DuBois Meyer. She had been a resident of Elgin for over 35 years. She was a Registered Nurse before retiring.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elgin. She was active in the Women's Group of the church.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara (Larry) Olin of Chicago, Lianne (Keith) DeBoer-Rockensock of Elgin; two granddaughters, Robbin Valentich of Elgin and Hallie (Simon) Glennie of Wayne; one great grandson, Charles David Glennie; foster daughter, Margie (Richard) Deiter of Rockford, IL; one brother, C.O. Meyer of Sierra Vista, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur David Goeke in 1999; two brothers, John and Charles and one sister, Kathryn.
Private graveside services will be held Friday, May 7 at Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee with Rev. Mike Frantz officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Baptist Church of Elgin. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Harold S. Schmidt
Harold S. Schmidt, 83, of Elgin passed away Saturday, May 1, 2004 in Sherman Hospital. He was born March 11, 1921 in West Cape May, New Jersey and was the son of William and Harriet Schmidt. Resident of Elgin most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. Member of American Legion Post #57 of Elgin.
Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Guth of Elgin; a son, Myron (Paula) Schmidt of Maryland; five grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Virginia.
Private graveside services will be held in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery. There will be no visitation. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.

Ethel M. Schuman
Ethel Mae Schuman, 94, of El Cajon, CA, formerly of Elgin, IL, died Sunday, April 25, 2004 at Victoria Special Care Nursing Home in El Cajon, CA. She was born in Elgin on September 18, 1909, the daughter of Aaron M. and Mattie M. Heath. She was a graduate of Elgin High School.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Carol) Hodge of El Cajon, CA; her sister, Ruth (Hitzeman) Koehler of Elgin; and a brother, Willard (Ruth) Heath of AZ. Also survived by seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, seven nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sally M. (Hodge) Wetzel; her husbands, J. Gordon Hodge and Milton J. Schuman; and her brother, Roy M. Heath.
Private grave-side memorial services will be held at the South Elgin cemetery at a time yet to be determined.

Michael Werrbach
Michael Werrbach, age 21 of Elgin, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Michael was born in Elgin, June 8, 1983 the sone of Craig and Valerie (Brown) Werrbach. He will be sorely missed by many cousins and friends. He thoroughly enjoyed racing cars at Sycamore Speedway, playing softball, competing in bowling leagues and competitors. He was a member of VFW Post 1307 Auxillary, Fraternal order of Eagles, ABT League and the ABC Association for bowling.
Michael took pride in volunteering at the Fox Valley Center for Independent Living calling Bingo. He was a Graduate of Elgin High School Class of 2001. He was employed by Theilsen Enterprises as the Marketing Manager and computer specialist.
Survived by Father, Craig of Elgin; mother, Valerie Sergey of Concord, CA; brother, Sterling Sergey; sister, Kiley Jones-Sergey; his paternal great-grandmother, Mary Werrbach of Elgin; maternal grandparents, Kenneth (June) Brown and Karen Law of Florida; paternal grandparents, Art and Emma Tebell of Streamwood; aunts and uncles, Russell (Candace) Werrbach, Douglas (Karen) Werrbach, Glenn Werrbach, James Werrbach, Jeff (Jill) Werrbach, Melody (Christopher) Lenneman, Candy (Dave Sensor) Radke, Eric, Kevin and Karen Brown, Christian and Kendall.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Glenn "Animal" Werrbach; uncle, Michael Dean Werrbach; and cousin, Shelby Marie Werrbach.
Visitation will be Monday, May 9, 2005 from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service at 7:00 P.M. at Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, Elgin, Rev. Andrew Koschmann will officiate. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to the Fox Valley Center for Independent Living.
