Juanita V. Wood
Juanita V. Wood, 90 of South Elgin passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born April 22, 1911 in Peoria, IL the daughter of Fred and Eleanor Tibbetts.
She had been a resident of South Elgin before moving to Arizona in 1979 and then returned to South Elgin in 1987. She and her husband, Glenn T. Wood Sr. operated FabricCare Laundromat in South Elgin before retiring.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald (Etta) Butler of Dell City, OK and Glenn T. (Carol) Wood, Jr. of Elgin, 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, many special friends and relatives and her beloved dog "Buttons".
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn T. Woods, Sr. in 1987, one son, Richard Butler in 1989, two sisters, Altalene Ryan and Beulah Booklund and three brothers, Ray, Frank Tibbetts and Edward Hoppler.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Private burial will be Monday in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the funeral home.

Ann C. Ekblad
Ann C. Ekblad, 85, of Elgin passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at Tower Hill Nursing Home, South Elgin. She was born September 8, 1917 in Geneva, IL, the daughter of Carl and Catherine Smith Bjork. She had been a resident of Elgin for most of her life. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Surviving are two cousins, Lowell (Betsy) Smith of Litchfield, IL and Leo (Rose) Smith of Ft. Smith, AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ray H. Ekblad.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Martin Balzer officiating. Burial will be in Blackberry cemetery, Elburn. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Judith A. Fischer
Judith A. Fischer, 50, of Carpentersville died Friday, February 6, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Watervliet, Michigan on July 25, 1953.
Judy was a life long resident of the Carpentersville area. She was a 1971 graduate of Irving Crown High School. She was employed by Discover Financial. She was a former 29 year employee of Visa-Bank One in Elgin. She was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of East Dundee.
She is survived by her son Benjamin. Her mother Theresa "Tracy" Fischer of Carpentersville, her twin brothers; John (Phyllis) Fischer of South Elgin and James (Denise) Fischer of Elgin. Her Sister-in-Law; Cindy Fischer of Carpentersville, her niece and nephews; Josh, Brad (Stephanie), Shane, Kyle, Jason, Tom and Julie (Rob Miller). Her Cousin; John (Andrea) Krei of Lake Villa. Many friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her father Alvin Carl Fischer on December 25, 1987, her brother Thomas R. Fischer on March 6, 1988 and her maternal and paternal grandparents. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, East Dundee. The Rev. William P. Yonker, Senior Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-7 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in church. Jacqueline M. Fischer
"Jackie"
Jacqueline M. "Jackie" Fischer, 75, of Lake in the Hills, formerly of Carpentersville, died Friday, February 6, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Wisconsin on November 20, 1928, the daughter of Bruce and Mary (nee Murphy) Kimball. Jackie was a many year resident of the Carpentersville-Lake in the Hills areas. She was a many year employee of School District #300 where she worked as a School Secretary at Golfview School in Carpentersville. She was a member of Saint Elizabeth Anne Seton Church in Crystal Lake and a former many year member of St. Monica Church in Carpentersville.
She is survived by her three children, Jeff Rich of Lake in the Hills, John Rich of Maurice, Louisiana and Amy Fitzsimmons of Elgin; five grandchildren, Jason, Kristen and Melissa Rich, Kelsey and Meredith Fitzsimmons. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Clarence "Red" Fischer on October 28, 1989.
Visitation will be on Monday from 3 to 7 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Funeral Services and burial will be Wednesday in Lena, Wisconsin. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Arthur D. Schmidt
Arthur D. Schmidt, 86, formerly of Elgin, IL, passed away unexpectedly in his home in West Bend, Iowa on Thursday, February 5, 2004.
Arthur resided in Elgin 55 years before moving to Iowa with his wife, Alma (nee Rein), in April 2000. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandpa to his children and grandchildren and special "Papa II" to his great-grandchildren. Art was very proud of his service as a WW II veteran having served in the 3rd Infantry Division. Up to his death, Art could always be found in his workshop, building or fixing something for someone. He was employed as an engineer at ClearPak of Schiller Park, IL for nearly 40 years before his retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra (Wally) Schubert of Elgin, a son, John (Paula) Schmidt of West Bend, five grandchildren; Matthew & Michael Schubert of Elgin, Clayton (Angie) Schmidt of Harcourt, IA, Rachel (Matt) Fehr, Anne (Jaylin) Dahlhauser both of Whittemore, IA and six great-grandchildren, one sister, Ethel Bednarski and five brothers, Delbert, Elmer, Lester, Eugene and Darrel and many nieces and nephews.
Art was preceded in death by Alma, his wife of 53 years on May 6, 2000, a great-grandchild, Mason Schmidt, his parents Fred & Emma Schmidt, a sister Caroline Overson and seven brothers, Eli, Orville, Alvin, Donald, Kenneth, Merlin, and Richard.
Funeral services will be held in the Apostolic Christian Church of West Bend at 10:30AM on Monday with burial in the Apostolic Church cemetery, West Bend. Visitation will be at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Center at 3:00PM on Sunday afternoon and on Monday at the church until the time of the service.

Virginia Sobczak
Virginia Sobczak, 75, of Elgin passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born July 31, 1928 the daughter of John and Marie Parlea. She had been a resident of Elgin for the past 20 years and had been employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Co. before retiring.Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Edward; two daughters, Sharon Gough of Huntley and Linda Gessler of Dublin, CA; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Jonathon Hoover and Lacy Gessler all of California, Edward, Michael Mirtl of Elgin, Joseph Mirtl of South Elgin and Nicholas Arena of Huntley; one great-grandson, Tyler Mirtl of South Elgin; and one sister, Helen Edmonds.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services wil be held Tuesday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Visitations will be held Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

James W. Beecher
James W. Beecher, 76, of Carpentersville passed away on Monday, February 5, 2001 at his home.
He was born on April 12, 1924 in Chicago, IL., the son of Lester and Hazel (Isaccson) Beecher. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was a member of the V.F.W. post in Carpentersville he was also a prolific writer.
He is survived by; four children, Jim of Gilberts, Connie Bonner of Elgin, Carla (Greg) Beecher Moehn of Chicago, Kurt of Gilberts; four grandchildren, Max and Kelly of Hampshire, Cailie and Emily of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mary in 1997.
A private family service will be held.

Manuel A. "Manny" Figueroa
Manuel A. "Manny" Figueroa, 58, of South Elgin passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 in the Asta Care Center, Elgin.
He was born Aug. 25, 1942 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, the son of Esteban and Isabel Figueroa.
He had been a resident of the Elgin area since 1969. He was employed by School Dist. U-46 for 25 years and was currently Custodial Supervisor.
Survivors include two sons, Angel M. (Gina) Figueroa of Algonquin and Ivan Figueroa of Elgin; grandchildren, Sophia, Chelsea, Elijah and Justin; a sister,Connie (Salvador) Maravillas of Plato Center; a brother, Esteban (Ramona) Figueroa of Puerto Rico; his special partner, Ruthe Lindbloom of Elgin; his former wife, Carmen Delia Diaz of Elgin; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-sister; and four step-brothers.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, the Rev. Gordon McClure officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be 3-9 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home.

William Graffenius
William Graffenius, age 72, of Lake In The Hills, died February 5, 2001.
Member of Peace Reformed Church of Mt. Prospect. He was employed for 40 years by Unocal Oil Co. before his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, two sons Robert (Bonnie) and Donald; three daughters Linda Bills, Karen (Cliff) Dean and Lori (Mike) Baisden; grandfather of nine, great grandfather of two; one brother Henry; one sister Midge (John) Bolt;
Visitation is Thursday 5-9 P.M. at Community Funeral Home located on Rt 25 between Rts 72 and 68, East Dundee. 847-426-3474. Funeral Friday 10:30 A.M. at Community Funeral Home. Burial is in Windridge cemetery.

Anna Rehbert Gutschow
Anna Rehbert Gutschow, 94, a former resident of the Lake View Manor, Hancock, and of Elgin, Illinois, passed away Monday evening, February 5, 2001, at Portage Pointe, where she had been a resident patient since May of 1999.
The former Anna Ida Peters was born on November 18, 1906, in Huntley, Illinois, a daughter of the late William and Anna (Mielke) Peters. Anna had worked for the Elgin National Watch Company until her retirement. On September 11, 1929, she was united in marriage to Arthur Rehberg, and he preceded her in death in June of 1998. Since 1996, she has been a resident of Hancock. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Elgin, Illinois, and had attended the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and four sisters, Viola Todd, Mabel McCabe Hayes, Henrietta Gutschow, and Adelia Rugh.
Surviving are one daughter Sharon (Wayne) Torgeson of Hancock, MI; one grand daughter Janis (James) Vivian of Eagle River, MI; one grandson Steven Torgeson of Orlando, Florida; one step daughter Donna (Clark) Niss of Naples, Florida; one step son Warren (Rhoda) Gutschow of Rockford, Illinois; five step grand daughters Susan (Kevin) Sparks, Diane Raymond, Laura (Charles) Byrns, Julie (Edward) Riedmaier, Mary Gutschow; one step grandson Steven (Sandra) Niss; four step great grandchildren; one brother William Peters of Dekalb, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial will take place at a later date in Elgin, Illinois. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests memorials may be given to the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1000 Quincy St., Hancock, MI 49930. The O'Connor and Homeier Funeral Home of Elgin, Il. will be serving the family locally.

Keith David Lane
Keith David Lane, 19 of Elgin formerly of Carpentersville died Monday February 5, 2001 in Carpentersville. He was born in Elgin on November 21, 1981. He was a life long resident of the Carpentersville- Elgin areas.
He was a member of the senior class of Barrington High School. He was a member of the varsity track and gymnastic teams.
He is survived by his mother and step-father Denise (nee Keene) and Raymond Carroll of Elgin; his father David R. Lane of Elkhorn, Wisconsin; one step-brother Shawn Lane; three step-sisters Tammy Carroll, Nora Hakes and Candy Carroll all of Wisconsin; paternal grandmother Joanne (Lon) Swanson of Elgin. Keith is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Gene Lane; his maternal grandparents Charles and Dorothy Keene; and his maternal great grandmother Emma Ruth "Mimmie" Breede; one uncle Dennis M. Keene.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. Richard D. Feyen will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3-9 P.M. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the Barrington High School Athletic Department.

Robert Oldham
Robert Oldham, 75, of Elgin, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 in Sherman West Court.
He was born Aug. 3, 1925 in Eldorado, Ill., the son of Virgil and Edith (Prince) Oldham.
He was veteran having served in the US Navy during WWII. Robert worked as a Carpenter for many years prior to his retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Roberta L. (Peter) Gomez of Elgin; four grandchildren, Nicole, Janel, Peter and StacyGomez, all at home; a brother, Carl Oldham of Elgin; two sisters, Melva (Lee) Bowman and Mary (Roger) Lapp, both of New York; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Glendal Oldham; and a sister, Lovine Jacobs.
Memorial services will be 6 p.m., Thursday in the First Christian Church, 1125 Summit St., Elgin, the Rev. Titus Solomon officiating. Burial will be private.
There will be no visitation. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the church.
