Thelma K. Gilles (Herrin)
Thelma K. (Herrin) Gilles, 92, of Streamwood, IL passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2003. She was born March 13, 1911 in Black Rock, Arkansas.
She was a member of the Congdon Ave. Church of Christ. She is survived by her brother, L. B. Herrin, her nieces and nephews, Julia Nelson, Bill Ferro, Jack Herrin, Carol Ferguson, Mike Werden, Terry Ferro and many other nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ersle T.; her son, Wilbur; and her siblings, Lulu Groves, Opal Sniff, Pauline Herrin, Zemeru Snell, Ernest Smith and Harris Herrin.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, June 13 at 10:00 AM at Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd (at Barrington Rd), Streamwood/Schaumburg with Shane Scott officiating. Interment will take place at Evergreen cemetery, Evergreen Park. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 12 from 3:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Arrangements made by Countryside Funeral Home. Francis "Frank" J. Logue
Francis "Frank" J. Logue, age 65 of Streamwood. Francis was born January 20, 1938 in Chicago, and passed away June 9, 2003 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. Frank retired from the Village of Streamwood Public Works after 25 years of service. Loving father of Chris and Catey Logue of Marengo. Dear brother of Jerry (Mickey) of Streamwood and Edward (JoAnn) of Rolling Meadows. Dear partner of Jo-Anne Nelson and her loving family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ann.

Herbert Ernst Pflueger
Herbert Ernst Pflueger, 72 of Elgin passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born July 10, 1930 the son of William and Erna Meldau Ernst. He had been a resident of Elgin all his life and was a graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1948. He was employed by School District U-46 for 21 years before retiring in 1996.
He was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Elgin, and a past member of Carpenters Union Local 363 for 26 years. He had been a Boy Scout Leader of Troop #29 at Coleman School in Elgin for 14 years and had received the Order of The Arrow. He had been active with the Big Timber Dancers.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Fillmore Pflueger whom he married
on June 23, 1951; a daughter, Patty (John) Blakely of Huntley; two sons, Craig (Peggy) Pflueger of Elgin and Gary (Peggy) Pflueger of Elgin; six grandchildren, Craig Pflueger, Jr., Christy Pflueger, Nichole (Jake) Pflueger-Bennett, Theo (Rita) Davis, Richard and Ryan Blakely; a great-grandson, Damian Bennett; a brother, Norman (Virginia) Pflueger of Gold Canyon, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Ernst; his mother, Erna Ernst Pflueger; his step-father, Ernest Pflueger; and his brother, Heins Ernst.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 Division St., Elgin with Rev. Olin Sletto officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services in the church. Memorials may be given to The Foundation Fighting Blindness, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, The American Lung Association or the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.
Robert G. Applehoff
Robert G. Applehoff, 87, of Elgin passed away Thursday in Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He was born April 15, 1917 in Hanover Township, IL and was the son of Oscar and Grace Gibbons Applehoff.
Mr. Applehoff had been a resident of the Elgin area all of his life. He was employed by Modern Dairy in Elgin for 46 years before retiring. He was a Veteran of W.W.II and was S/SGT with the 47th Armored Infantry Battalion, 5th Armored Division.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Elgin and a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 799 of Elgin. He was a bowler for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Arleen Rowe Applehoff, whom he married
on November 20, 1943; one daughter, Jean Larson of Sweden; one son, Robert (Adele) Applehoff of Hampshire; five grandchildren; Cynthia (Keith) Siedsma of Hampshire, Jennifer (Curt) Harrison of Genoa, Eric Chad (Monica) Applehoff of Sweden, Susan Larson of Sweden, and Michael Larson of Sweden; one great-grandchild, Jessica Arleen Applehoff of Sweden; one brother, Oscar Applehoff of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Violet Thomsen; two brothers, Fred and Theodore Applehoff.
Memorial services will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the Laird Funeral Home in Elgin with Rev. Peter Boeve officiating. Private burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or to the charity of one's choice.
Shawna Lynn Morris Henk
Shawna Lynn Morris Henk, of Chicago, died Monday, June 7, 2004 in Chicago following a tragic vehicle accident.
Eight days before her death, Shawna married
her true love, Gregory Henk. The marriage ceremony was a testimony to the creative, loving, and caring person that Shawna was. Shawna and Greg celebrated their marriage surrounded by loving and devoted parents, sisters, other family members and close friends. Participating in the ceremony was their energetic Yorkie, Maximillian, the ring bearer at the wedding.
Shawna was born August 7, 1974 in Belleville, IL, to Debbie and Duane Morris. She graduated from Belleville Township High School East in 1992 and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Fashion Merchandising from Rosary College in River Forest, IL in 1996. She had worked as a manager of Hancock Fabrics for eight years, where she could share her talents in sewing and crafting. Most recently, she worked for Mack and Assoc. of Chicago. Her most recent energies were focused on planning every detail of their unique wedding as well as decorating the home she and her husband would share together.
Shawna is survived by her husband, Greg Henk, a native of Elgin, IL; her parents, Debbie Morris and Duane Morris of Fairview Heights, IL; her sisters, Kara (Derek) Borgsmiller of St. Joseph, MO and Annie Morris; her maternal grandmother, Ruby Bradley; two aunts, Paula Corbin and Claudia Rynkowski, all of Fairview Heights, IL; and one uncle, Bobby Corbin of Lutz, FL.
Funeral arrangements, being handled by Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home of Joliet, IL, are incomplete. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
Paula M. (Wiedemann) Hodgson
Paula M. (Wiedemann) Hodgson, 57, of Naperville, died Saturday, June 5, 2004 at home after a long and courageous battle against Huntington's Disease.
An RN, she was born in Elgin, Illinois, and was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter T. Wiedemann and her brother, Charlie Wiedemann.
Paula is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, Dave Hodgson, and she was a loving, caring mother to John, Kate, Sarah, and Emily Hodgson, also of Naperville. She was the sister of Jessie (Steve) Wiedemann-Diaz of Ottumwa, Iowa and James and Joseph (Sallie) Wiedemann. She was an aunt to several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held June 27, 2004, at St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, 3910 Highland Ave., Downers Grove, IL at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name be directed to The Huntington's Disease Society of America- Illinois Chapter, P.O. Box 8383, Rolling Meadows, IL 60008.
Dennis Roy MacKinney
Dennis Roy MacKinney, 61, formerly of Elgin, passed away on June 1, 2004 in Clarkdale, AZ. Born in Oak Park, IL on January 30, 1943, Dennis was the son of Alice Piper MacKinney and W.E. MacKinney, both of Elgin.
A 1961 graduate of Elgin High School, Dennis worked as a plant manager first with The MacKinney Company in Hanover Park, IL and then with Service Products, Inc. in Chicago. He moved to Big Bar, CA in 1979 and operated a ranch and several small businesses there until retiring to AZ last year.
A natural storyteller and lover of all kinds of humor, Dennis enjoyed swapping stories with his friends and family, and anyone else within range. All who knew him will miss the sound of his guffaw and laughter.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Elizabeth MacKinney of Clarkdale, AZ; his son, Thomas (Cindy) MacKinney of Sebastopol, CA; his brother, Douglas (Ellie) MacKinney of Hampshire, IL; two step-children, Rhonda (John) Long of Gilbert, AZ and Mary (Mike) Gehrke of Oregon City, OR; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be private. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arizona funeral services were handled by Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood, AZ.
Elena Silvana Pace
Elena Silvana Pace, 74, of Elgin passed away Thursday, June 10, 2004 in her home. She was born August 17, 1929 in Ferentino, Italy and was the daughter of Lorenzo and Palma Paris. She had been a resident of Elgin for many years and had been employed by D.C. Cook Publishing Co. before retiring.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin.
Surviving are her husband, Leslie Pace; five sons, Douglas Pace of Elgin, Mario (Tammy) Muth of Cave Creek, Arizona, Sandro Miller of Chicago, Michael Miller of Elgin, and Dino (Cynthia) Pace of Elgin; two daughters, Piera (Carlos) Echevarria of Elgin and Pauletta (Bob) Kluender of Elgin; three grandchildren; two sisters, Antoinetta (Joseph) Moraca of Elgin and Ciarina Valleriani of Italy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Daniel Pilas; her second husband, Donell Miller; one daughters, Pamela Pilas; three sisters.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and then on Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Eastern Illinois.
Lucile F. Knaak
Lucile F. Knaak, 73, of Elkhorn, WI died Monday, June 11, 2001 at Willowfield Nursing Home, Delavan, WI, following a brief, but valiant battle with cancer.
She was born May 8, 1928 in Algonquin, IL, the daughter of Herman and Hulda Schulz.
She lived in Algonquin until she met and married
Harold F. Knaak on June 28, 1947 and moved to Elgin. She and her husband operated a dairy farm in Elgin and then in Elkhorn, WI. Lucile was a member of the Genoa City U.C.C. She enjoyed reading, sewing and baking.
Survivors include three sons, Harold H. Knaak of Sycamore, IL, Larry F. Knaak of Elkhorn, WI, and Vernon L. Knaak of Elgin; four daughters, Donna J. Fortney of Lake Geneva, WI, Diane M. Krzmarzick of Naperville, IL, Linda S. Knaak, of Elkhorn, Christine M. Witherill of Madison, WI; five grandsons, Brian Knaak, Harold Knaak, Ryan Krzmarzick, Thomas Krzmarzick and David Witherill; eight granddaughters, Joanne Mason, Shannon Knaak, Jennifer Fortney, Nancy Fortney, Janelle Krzmarzick, Angela Krzmarzick, Vickie Knaak and Kristie Knaak; several great grandchildren; and a sister, Florence (Schulz) Arsenty of Woodstock, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold F.; son, David; and brothers, Charles Schulz and Robert Schulz.
Funeral services will be held at First Congregational United Church of Christ Church, Lake Geneva, WI, Saturday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m., the Rev. Mark Scholwalter officiating. Internment will be at Oakhill cemetery, Lake Geneva.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m., Friday, June 15 at Steinke Funeral Home, Lake Geneva and from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

Phyllis M. Preuss
Phyllis M. Preuss age 84 of Bartlett passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2001 in her home. She was born October 12, 1916 in St. Jacob, Illinois the daughter of Arthur and Lula Heisel Widicus. She had been a resident of Bartlett since 1970. She had been secretary to Dr. Samuel Press and Dr. Frederick Schroeder, both Presidents at Eden Seminary in Webster Groves, Missouri and then after her marriage to Rev. Theodore Preuss on June 6, 1953 she was his secretary in his ministries at Christ Church in Jim Thorpe, Penn., Trinity Church in Columbus, Ohio and then Immanuel United Church of Christ in Bartlett until their retirement.
She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Bartlett where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, mad Choir Robes for the Junior Choir and was active in the Women's Guild and many other church activities.
Surviving are her husband, Rev. Theodore "Ted" Preuss; grandson, Michael "Sonny" Preuss; sister, Marion Noeltnor of St. Jacob, IL.; and sister in law, Edith Widicus of Kissimmee, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marion Preuss; son, Michael Preuss; and brother Paul Widicus.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in Immanuel United Church of Christ 415 W. North Ave., Bartlett. Burial will be in Bartlett cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M> in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services in the church. Walter E. Rehberg
Walter E. Rehberg, 70, of Elgin passed away Monday, June 11, 2001 in Delnor-Community Hospital, Geneva.
He was born July 29, 1930 in Woodstock, the son of Frederick and Lois Levey Rehberg.
He had been a resident of the Elgin area for the past 35 years. He was employed by Northern Illinois Gas Co. as an accountant before retiring. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He was very interested in Geneology.
Survivors include his wife, MabelKampert Rehberg; a daughter, Cindy Rehberg of South Elgin; a son, Craig (Lynn) Rehberg of Bothell, Wash.; three granddaughters, Rachael Rehberg,Marlo Murdoch and Heather Miller; a sister, Hazel Schalz of Libertyville; and a brother, Clarence (Carol) Levey of Spring Hill, Fla.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Tracy and Annie; a sister, Marita Hamm; and a brother, Harry Rehberg.
Memorial Services will be 1 p.m., Friday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
