Vera Bostwick
Vera Bostwick, 86, of Carpentersville died at home on June 10, 2003. She was born on May 7, 1917 in Chicago to James Blaha and Frances (nee Zlamalik). Vera worked for ACME Industries until retirement in 1990.
She is survived by her sons, John Pavlak and Jack Bostwick both of Carpentersville. Also, her sister, Elsie Raquse of Bellevue, IA, three grandchildren, Leslie Bostwick of Carpentersville, Tina (Dennis) Ritter of Crystal Lake, Kathleen "Punky" Bostwick of Crystal Lake; seven great-grandchildren, Ashlee Ritter of Crystal Lake, Taylor Pfortmiller of Carpentersville, Brittany Ritter of Crystal Lake, Morgan and Ethan Bostwick of Crystal Lake, Celsie Ritter of Crystal Lake, and Tiffani Pfortmiller of Carpentersville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, brothers, Emil and James Blaha; sisters, Helen Straff and Camille Sitta.
Services and interment will be private.
The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

Russell Brian Dean
Russell Brian Dean, 47, of Chino Hills, CA passed away June 9, 2003 at Chino Valley Medical Center.
Russell was born June 3, 1956 in Chicago and was a resident of Chino Hills since 1997. He worked in the computer sales industry for 20 years.
Russell is survived by his wife, Susan K. Dean; his daughters Traci and Kimberley Dean, both of Elgin and Michelle Dean of Scottsdale, AZ; his brothers, Scott Dean of Bartlett, Kenneth Dean of St. Charles, Richard Dean of St. Charles, Gary Dean of Elgin; his sisters, Debra Passantino of Elgin and Carla Sherwood of High Point, NC; uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at the Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 330 W. Golf Rd., Schaumburg on Sunday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at 7:00 p.m. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated for American Heart Association Memorial and Tributes Program, Department 77-3968, Chicago, IL 60678-3968 or the Susan G. Lester Joachim Ebel
Lester Joachim Ebel, 96, of Crystal Lake died Friday, June 13, 2003 at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry.
He was born October 26, 1906 in Algonquin, the son of Albert Quentin and Jenny (nee Larson) Ebel Sr. On June 15, 1937, he married Ida Irene Eppel in Woodstock.
He had been a farmer since 14 years of age in both Algonquin and Crystal Lake and was a member of the Illinois Grange, Ridgefield Chapter for 50 years.
A member of First Congregational Church of Crystal Lake for over 50 years, he was also a former member of the Crystal Lake Kiwanis. An avid reader, he also enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ida Irene of Crystal Lake; three daughters, Ruth Anne (the late Frank) Kramer of Carpentersville, Barbara Ellen (Dennis) Miazga of Algonquin and Kathleen L. (Robert P.) Wiltberger of Elgin; seven grandchildren, Amy and Allison, Michael and Grant, Andrew and Jeffrey and Christine; a great grandson, Andrew Joseph; two sisters, Marion Andersen and Eunice Andreas; a brother, Albert (Elwanda) Ebel II; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Klinder; and three brothers, Adelbert, Theodore and Glenord Ebel.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Sunday, June 15, 2003 at Querhammer & Flag Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rt. 176), Crystal Lake.
The funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday, June 16, 2003 at First Congregational Church, 461 Pierson, Crystal Lake. Interment will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park in Crystal Lake.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated by the family to Northern Illinois Medical Center, C/O/ Fifth Floor Intermediate Care Unit or to Boy's Town Center, Boy's Town, NE, 68010,

James David Jeralds
James David Jeralds, 47, of St. Charles, died Friday, June 13, 2003 in St. Charles. He was born February 19, 1956 in Herrin, IL. James was a graduate of St. Charles High School. He was a machinist in the area for many years.
Survived by a sister, Ettie (Larry) Ayala of North Aurora; four brothers, Charles, (Tammy) of DeKalb, Michael (Marie) of Genoa, Terry (Dawn) of Friendsville, PA and Kenneth (Kathy) of DeKalb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Shirley (Sherwood) Jeralds.
Memorial Services will be held at 5 PM Sunday at the Yurs Funeral Home, St. Charles. Interment will be private. Contributions may be made to the family.

Charles E. "Chuck" Baresel
Charles E. "Chuck" Baresel, 81, of East Dundee died Friday, June 11, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Dundee on September 21, 1922, the son of Carl and Evelyn (nee Droegemueller) Baresel. Chuck was a life long resident of the Dundee area and was a member of the First Congregational Church of West Dundee for over 60 years. He was a long time and very active member of the Dundee Lions Club. He took great pride in his community and being able to perform community service in any was that he could. He worked quietly behind the scenes in many of the Dundee Lions sponsored events. He was a United States Army veteran and served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty J. (nee Jahnke) Baresel. They married on September 14, 1946; their son, Craig of Jamestown, North Carolina; his brothers, David (Ethel) of Sleepy Hollow and Russell (Marcia) of Hampshire; his sisters, Joyce Pagels of West Dundee and Phyllis Rohrsen of East Dundee. Several nieces and nephews also survive in addition to many many friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Malcolm.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 11 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee with Rev, Pamela F. Pendexter officiating. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery in East Dundee. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 PM in the Miller Funeral Home. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the Dundee Township Lions Club or the First Congregational Church of West Dundee.

Gerald M. "Mike" McMahon
Gerald M. "Mike" McMahon, 26, of Hampshire, formerly of Elgin and Marengo, died Saturday, June 12, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Arlington Heights on May 5, 1978. Mike was a life long resident of the area. He was employed by Northwest Insulation of Elgin where he worked as a Field Superintendent.
He is survived by his wife of seven years, Devra (nee Garcia) McMahon; his children, Alexandria and Bailey; his mother, Irene Nehmzow of Marengo; his father, Michael (Hilda) McMahon of Elgin; his sisters, Jennifer (Jeff) Garcia of Elgin and Angie (Manuel) Perez of Belvidere; his brothers, Adam Nehmzow and David Nehmzow both of Marengo. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Dylan, Jeffery, Anthony, Nina, Sirena, Isaac and Jonathan; his maternal grandmother, Ana Rosario of Elgin; and his maternal grandfather, Purifino Jimenez of Puerto Rico. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gerald and Peggy McMahon; and a son in infancy, Michael Joseph McMahon.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at 1:30 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 9 PM in the funeral home.

Elizabeth M. Rumple
Elizabeth M. Rumple, 72, of Champlin, MN died June 10, 2004.
She is survived by her husband, George (formerly of Carpentersville); and a son, David (Cindy).
Mass of Christian Burial Friday, June 18, 2004 at St. Gerard's Catholic Church, 9600 Regent Avenue North, Brooklyn Park, MN.

Raymond E. "Zeke" Volkening
Raymond E. "Zeke" Volkening, 75, of Elgin passed away Saturday, June 12, 2004 in his home following a long illness. He was born July 2, 1928 in Sycamore, the son of Herman and Bertha Kiel Volkening. He attended Burlington Schools and had been a resident of Elgin for most of his life. He had been employed by Burren Transfer for 31 years before retiring in 1990 when he started his second career, working part time for Fox Valley Fire & Safety for ten years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ of Elgin, a member and Past President of the Owls Club of Elgin, member of the Elgin Riverside Club and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 799, Elgin. He played in the Riverside Horseshoe League, bowled in two leagues and in recent years enjoyed golf. He coached a women's softball team for several years.
Surviving are his devoted wife, Ruth Diehs Volkening, whom he married on September 29, 1950; seven children, Ken (Mona) Volkening of Hampshire, Karen (Mike) Westerman of Elgin, Bruce (Vicki) Volkening of Marengo, Dale (Sandy) Volkening of Gilberts, Herman (Judy) Volkening of Elgin, Barb (Don) Kamp of Carpentersville and Kevin Volkening (Jeanette Garcia) of Elgin; 20 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Sophie Dominguez of Elgin and Shirley (Walter) Green of St. Charles; and two brothers, Gordon (Maggie) Volkening of Hampshire and Lloyd (Alice) Volkening of Huntley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brian; and his brother, Donald.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 17, 2004 at 11 AM at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 220 Division St, Elgin with Rev. Thomas O'Connor and Dr. Robert Kasper officiating. Burial will be in Burlington cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2004 from 3 to 9 PM at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Thursday from 10 AM until the time of services in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois or St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

Gordon P. Hrabak
Gordon P. Hrabak, 86, of Carpentersville died Tuesday, June 12, 2001.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Schaumburg.
Survivors include a son, Jack; adaughter, Janet (Carlos) Benavidez; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday in the Community Funeral Home, Rt. 25, East Dundee.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.

Ethel Kossack (nee Franzen)
Funeral Services for Ethel Kossack, 93 of Elgin will be held on Tuesday, June 19 at Noon in Geils Funeral Home, 180 S. York Road, Bensenville, The Rev. Carl Bassett will officiate.
Born December 18, 1907 in Itasca to the late Frank and Alma Franzen, she passed away Sunday, June 10 at the Fountains of Crystal Lake.
Ethel resided in Algonquin before moving to Willow Lake Estates of Elgin in 1979. She had been employed with Shurtlef Lumber Company and H & R Block before her retirement. Mrs. Kossack was a long time member of the Algonquin Ladies Bridge Club.
She is survived by a sister in Law, Ruth Ward of Crystal Lake, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Kossack in 1989; a brother Alfred Franzen and a sister Florence Bohling.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the charity of the donor's choice would be a appreciated. Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service. (630) 766-3232.

Arthur J. Mitrenga
Arthur J. Mitrenga, 80, of Elgin, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
He was born March 9, 1921 in Chicago, the son of Walter and Frances (Malinowski) Mitrenga.
Arthur was in WWII in the Army Air Corps. He was an organist, choral director; a music teacher and a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Senior Choir.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores, whom he married on Aug. 27, 1949; his children, James (Sandra) Mitrenga of Elgin, Elizabeth (Dennis) Roberts of Elgin and Fritz (Dorothy) Mitrenga of Hinckley; a grandson, Gregory Mitrenga of Elgin; and a sister, Albina Adams of Texas.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ted, Ed and Edwin Mitrenga.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 16, 2001 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin at 12 noon, Father Edward Seisser officiating. Interment will be in Prairie cemetery, St. Charles.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m., Friday in the O'Connor and Homeier Funeral Home, 364 E. Division St., Elgin.
