Phyllis M. Preuss
Phyllis M. Preuss age 84 of Bartlett passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2001 in her home. She was born October 12, 1916 in St. Jacob, Illinois the daughter of Arthur and Lula Heisel Widicus. She had been a resident of Bartlett since 1970. She had been secretary to Dr. Samuel Press and Dr. Frederick Schroeder, both Presidents at Eden Seminary in Webster Groves, Missouri and then after her marriage to Rev. Theodore Preuss on June 6, 1953 she was his secretary in his ministries at Christ Church in Jim Thorpe, Penn., Trinity Church in Columbus, Ohio and then Immanuel United Church of Christ in Bartlett until their retirement.
She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Bartlett where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, mad Choir Robes for the Junior Choir and was active in the Women's Guild and many other church activities.
Surviving are her husband, Rev. Theodore "Ted" Preuss; grandson, Michael "Sonny" Preuss; sister, Marion Noeltnor of St. Jacob, IL.; and sister in law, Edith Widicus of Kissimmee, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marion Preuss; son, Michael Preuss; and brother Paul Widicus.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in Immanuel United Church of Christ 415 W. North Ave., Bartlett. Burial will be in Bartlett cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M> in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services in the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Eden Seminary 475 E. Lockwood, Webster Groves, Missouri 63119.
Benny L. Redmon
Benny L. Redmon died Sunday, June 10, 2001 at home. He had been a life long resident of the Elgin & Aurora area.
He was born in Indianola, Mississippi on July 10, 1937. The son on Dan and Ledora Redmon.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara (Mackie) Redmon; five children, Donny Willis of Elgin; Benjimin (Mary) Redmon of Chicago, Denise (Rolland) O'Connor, Lynetta Redmon both of Carpentersville and Devaki Redmon of Dubuque, Iowa; four sisters, Ann (John) Davis of Elgin, Alice Hall, Mary Allen and Dorthy (Elray) Chaney all of Aurora; a brother, Jerry Redmon of Aurora; special friend, Betty Baily; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Osborne, Daniel Redmon, Brandon Redmon, Alexis O'Connor and Dominique Redmon; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dan Jr.; and a sister, Barbara Woods.
Funeral services will be held at St. James AME Church in Elgin on Saturday, June 16, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Rouse officiating. Interment at Bluff City cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday in the James Funeral Home, 204 Hill Ave.,Aurora
William Edward Barr, Jr.
William Edward Barr, Jr., 57 of Elgin died Saturday, June 12, 2004 in Lake Carroll, IL.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, William, Sr.; one son, Michael; and an infant granddaughter, Keri.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Susan of 33 years; one son, Gregory (Cheryl) of Savanna; two daughters, Cynthia (Patrick) Tunney of Naperville; Rebecca (Frederic) Canard, of LITH; ten granddaughters, Holly, Allison, Jessica, Cheyenne, Kayla Shannon, Sarah, Rachel, Abigail, Helena and one grandson, William; his mother, Inez of Savanna; one sister, Lorraine (Danny) Harmon of Braidwood, IL; and one brother, Asa, also of Savanna.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 16, 2004 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the O'Connor - Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin. The funeral service will be Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home with Rev. Lester L. Irby
Lester L. Irby, 89, of Elgin passed away Sunday, June 13, 2004 in his home. He was born January 25, 1915 in Arkansas, the son of Nealey and Nellie Cornwell Irby. He had been a resident of Elgin for the past 12 years. He had been a self employed carpenter before retiring.
Surviving are three children, Mary Parks and Ilona Burton both of St. Charles and Larry (Marlin) Irby of Elgin; ten grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Irene; his second wife, Ethel; a son, Arthur Irby; two granddaughters, Ronica and Melissa; two brothers; and a sister.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 17 at 1:30 PM at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.
Buddy R. Lay
Buddy R. Lay, 84, of Clarkdale, AZ, died June 4, 2004. He was born December 7, 1919, in Elgin, IL.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Elgin High School. He was a retired foreman ironworker and worked through Ironworker Local #393 in Illinois. Mr. Lay was a member of the Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. He enjoyed working with stained glass.
His wife, Virginia Lay, preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons, Michael (Sue) Lay and Scott (Mary Pat), both of Elgin; a sister, Lilia Speyers; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held June 22 in the National Memorial cemetery of Arizona in Cave Creek (Phoenix) at 11 a.m.

Marshall D. Richardson
Marshall D. Richardson, age 79, of Bartlett died June 14, 2004. He was born August 11, 1924 in Elgin. He was the son of William J. and Doattie (nee Sinnett) Richardson.
Marshall was a 43 resident of Bartlett. He was the Scoutmaster of Troop 23, Bartlett from 1964-69. He served on the Bartlett Zoning Board of Appeals, 1979-1995. Marshall was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Bartlett, where he served as Sunday School Treasurer, 1964-70. He was employed by Amoco Oil Co., retiring in 1985. Marshall served in the Army, World War II, Corps of Engineers, Lightening Div., as a demolition specialist in 65th Engr C BN. He fought in the Batle of Luzon. Marshall joined the Merchant Marines in 1946 for two years, sailing on ore ships in the Great Lakes.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary (Moeller); children, David (Laura) of Elgin, Kathy (Joe) Phalp of South Elgin, and Heidi (George) Donovan; grandchildren, Nora and David "Rusty" Richardson, Jason, Derrick, and Cory Phalp, and Brienne, Alexi, and Devan Donovan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Orville; his sister, Bernice (Otto) Schmidt.
Services will be on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at 11:00 a.m at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1116 E. Devon Ave, Bartlett with lying in state at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Stearns Rd., Bartlett). Please omit flowers. David M. Snowwhite
David M. Snowwhite, 34, of Lombard and formerly of Elgin, died Sunday, June 13, 2004 in Chicago. He was born in Elgin April 30, 1970, the son of David M. and Gail (McPherson) Snowwhite.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Sullivan) Snowwhite, whom he married
February 22, 1997; three daughters, Brittney, Megan and Allie; a brother, Daniel of Elgin; a sister, Wendy (Patrick) McLeod of Marengo, IL; serveral aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 PM Tuesday at the Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation services Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.

Raymond E. "Zeke" Volkening
Raymond E. "Zeke" Volkening, 75, of Elgin passed away Saturday, June 12, 2004 in his home following a long illness. He was born July 2, 1928 in Sycamore, the son of Herman and Bertha Kiel Volkening. He attended Burlington Schools and had been a resident of Elgin for most of his life. He had been employed by Burren Transfer for 31 years before retiring in 1990 when he started his second career, working part time for Fox Valley Fire & Safety for ten years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ of Elgin, a member and Past President of the Owls Club of Elgin, member of the Elgin Riverside Club and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 799, Elgin. He played in the Riverside Horseshoe League, bowled in two leagues and in recent years enjoyed golf. He coached a women's softball team for several years.
Surviving are his devoted wife, Ruth Diehs Volkening, whom he married
on September 29, 1950; seven children, Ken (Mona) Volkening of Hampshire, Karen (Mike) Westerman of Elgin, Bruce (Vicki) Volkening of Marengo, Dale (Sandy) Volkening of Gilberts, Herman (Judy) Volkening of Elgin, Barb (Don) Kamp of Carpentersville and Kevin Volkening (Jeanette Garcia) of Elgin; 20 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Sophie Dominguez of Elgin and Shirley (Walter) Green of St. Charles; and two brothers, Gordon (Maggie) Volkening of Hampshire and Lloyd (Alice) Volkening of Huntley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brian; and his brother, Donald.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 17, 2004 at 11 AM at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 220 Division St, Elgin with Rev. Thomas O'Connor and Dr. Robert Kasper officiating. Burial will be in Burlington cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2004 from 3 to 9 PM at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Thursday from 10 AM until the time of services in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois or St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
Florence R. Miller
Florence R. Miller, 82, of Hot Springs Village, AR, formerly of Elgin and East Dundee, died Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital in Hot Springs, AR.
She was born February 3, 1919 in Newton, IL, the daughter of John and Ollie Davidson.
She had worked at Elgin National Watch Co. for 20 years and at Precision Diamond Tool Co. in Elgin until her retirement. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elgin.
Survivors include he husband, Emmert R. Miller of Hot Springs Village; a daughter, Carolyn (James) Bacak of Elgin; three step-children, DeeAnn Hare of Hampshire, Gary *Kathy) Miller of Elgin, and Craig (Sue) Miller of Hampshire; six grandchildren, Tim (Carrie) Bacak of Crystal Lake, Carrie Bacak of Elgin, Troy Miller of Peoria, Brett Miller of Hampshire, Capt. Douglas (Alicia) Hare U.S.A.F. OF Del Rio, TX, and Andrea Hare of Hampshire; and four great-grandchildren, Kyler and Alez Bacak of Crystal Lake, and Lexi and Hayden Hare of Del Rio.
Arrangements were made by Caruth Funeral Home and Crematory in Hot Springs. There were no services.
Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.
Naomi F. Seyller (Nee Moyer)
Naomi F. Seyller, age 85, passed away June 14, 2001 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was born April 19, 1916 to Egar (Ted) and Lucy Moyer.
She was a former member of VFW Auxiliary #5915 of Carpentersville and also a former member of the Moose Women 610 Lodge of Elgin.
She is survived by four sons, Wayne Liedberg of Salt Lake City, Utah, James Liedberg of Salt Lake City, Utah, Roger Seyller of Charleston, SC, and Phillip (Wendy) Seyller of Carpentersville; two brothers, Dick of Cheyenne, Wyoming and John Moyer of Oswego, IL; one sister, Frances Schmitt of Yorkville, IL; five grandchildren, Brittany Seyller, Laraul, Dawn, Heidi and Steve Liedberg; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard J. Seyller, whom she married
October 19, 1946 in Elgin; one brother, Sheldon Moyer and one sister, Daisy Hunt and parents.
Funeral Monday, June 18, 2001 with Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Algonquin, IL. Burial will be at River Valley Memorial Park in West Dundee. Visitation Sunday, June 17, 5-9 p.m. with a 6 p.m. prayer service.

Felix Sufalko
Felix Sufalko, 93, of Elgin, formerly of Grand Rapids, Mich. passed away Friday, June 15, 2001 at Michealsen Health Center, Batavia.
He was born Oct. 14, 1907 in Michigan, the son of Frank and Josephine Sufalko.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Arnold Sufalko of Elgin; a daughter, Arlene (George) Merl of Lombard; four granddaughters, Janice Merl of Des Plaines, Damaris, Kira and Ari, all of Elgin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; and a grandson, Gregory.
Private family services will be held at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. Burial will be in Grand Rapids, Mich.
There will be no visitation.
