Hazel A. Phillips
Hazel Albright Phillips, 90, formerly of Delavan, died Saturday, June 16, 2001 at Vintage on the Ponds, Delavan.
She was born June 10, 1911 in rural Barrington, the daughter of Charles W. and Minnie (Golderman) Albright.
She married
Ralph L. Phillips in 1938, and they made their first home in Dundee. Hazel and Ralph also lived in Elgin, LaCrosse, Wis. and Rockford prior to moving to Delavan in 1992.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Phillips (Chuck) Carlson of Delavan and Virginia ("Bob") Palmer of Juneau, Alaska and Bella Vista, Ark.; a son, Charles E. (Ellen) Phillips of Washington; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; two brothers, Charles and William F. Albright; and two sisters, Stell Pertiet and Laura Ruh.
A Memorial Service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, June 24 at Vintage on the Ponds, N4901 Dam Rd., Delavan, with Mother Melissa Burmeister of St. John in the Wilderness Church, Elkhorn, officiating.
Monroe Funeral Home, Delavan is assisting the family.

Raymond W. Schmidgall
Raymond W. Schmidgall, age 71, of Elgin passed away Saturday, June 16, 2001 in Heritage Manor, Elgin. He was born January 31, 1930 in Elgin the son of Chris and Lillian Koerner Schmidgall. He was a graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1950. He had been a resident of the Elgin area all of his life. He had been employed by Elgin Metal Casket Co., Fox Valley Manufacturing and then Wal-Mart in East Dundee before retiring. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 where he received the Korea Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Meritorouis Unit Citation.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Elgin. He was an active Life member of V.F. W. Post 1307 of Elgin. He was a member of American Legion Post 57 of Elgin. He bowled at Bowl-Way Lanes in Elgin for many years. He called Bingo on Tuesday Night with the V.F.W. He also helped with Bingo on Friday Night with the American Legion. He loved to go fishing on the charter boats on Lake Michigan.
Surviving are his wife, Delores Wollenweber Schmidgall whom he married
on April 28, 1956. Two daughters, Barbara (Bob) Lovell of South Elgin, Connie (Robert Rinehardt of Devils Lake, North Dakota; five grandchildren, Clifton Jones, Nina Jones and Christina Jones, Amanda Rinehardt and Dawn Rinehardt; three great grandchildren, Anna, Harold, Ashley; sister in law, Nora Schmidgall; aunt, Helen Schmidgall of Silverton, Oregon; and many cousins; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ardell Schmidgall.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Stan De Vries officiating. Burial will be if Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to American Legion Post 57 or V.F.W. Post 1307.
Frances M. Waal
Frances M. Waal, age 75 of Carpentersville. She was born December 31, 1925 in Maywood, Illinois, the daughter of Eli and Georgia Schutt. She had been a resident of Carpentersville for the past three years.
Surviving are her two daughters, Kathy (Eric) Torres of Carpentersville, Patricia (Christopher) Diers of Carol Stream; two sisters, Marge Jendro of St. Charles, IL, Pat (Bob) McHugh of Worcester, MA; one brother, George (Gertrude) Schutt of Lombard, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael J. Waal in 1998; and several brothers and sisters.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday at 8:00 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St. (Corner of S. Third and Oregon) West Dundee. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Parkinson's Disease Research.
Marie G. Bartelt
Marie G. Bartelt, 96, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at Sherman West Court. She was born May 9, 1906 in Germany to Jacob and Louise Schaefer Greiner.
Marie was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her good friends, Marge Drendel of Gilberts, Dick and Milly Fricke of Elgin, David and June Miller of Monroe, WI, Betty Nelson of St. Germain, WI, Rev. David Rassussen of Peru, IL, Ruth Rosenwinkel of Bartelt, Dr. David and Marcy Stone of Denver, CO, Ted and Mia Tammearu of Plymouth, MN and Nora Wendt of St. Germain, WI; also many nieces, nephews, and friends.
To respect Marie's wishes, there will be not visitation or service.

Helena Knaak, 83, of Elgin passed away Monday, June 17, 2002 at her home. She was born September 30, 1918 in Palatine, the daughter of Albert and Martha Mundhenk Gieseke.
Member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Elgin.
She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Guge of WI; a grandson, Joshua (Nichole) Knaak of Elgin; a great-grandson, Nathaniel Knaak; also a brother, Elmer (Evelyn) Gieseke of Elgin.

A.J. Spataro, 76, son of the late Frank and Josephine (Samartino) Spataro. Beloved husband of Geraldine (nee La Rosa). Proud and dearest father of Frank (Kelly) of Cincinnati, Ohio, David (Beth) of Chantilly, VA, Stephanie (Paul) Mares of Greendale, WI, Susan (Joseph) Elder of Cary, IL and Kevin (fiancee Allison Sommers) of Chicago, IL: loving grandfather of Heather and Neil Spataro; Lisa and Laura Spataro; Sarah, Margaret, Daniel, Hannah and Steven Mares; Michael, David, Jane, and Daniel Elder. Also survived by his sister, Rose (Louis) Pace of Arlington Heights, IL, special aunt, Mary Saladino and special sister-in-law, Maggie Cacciatore. Further survived by aunts and uncles, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents.
He received a B.S. degree from the University of Illinois in 1950 and a M.S. degree in 1952. While a student at the University of Illinois, he was a member of Chi Gamma Iota Fraternity. After graduation, he taught mathematics at Libertyville High School. From 1953 to 1970 he was employed as a tool designer at J.L. Clark. Also during this period, he taught advanced mathematics courses at Rockford College, attaining the rank of Associate Professor. He served as a Tank Commander during World War II, being assigned to the 4th Armored Division, which was part of General George Patton's Third Army. He attended Shrivenham University in London, England for one semester in 1945. In 1984, he started working at Payson Caster Company. In 1986, through the company, he was awarded a U.S. patent for the design and development of a caster locking brake. In 1988 he was promoted to Vice President of Engineering. He was selected for recognition in the 1993 edition of Who's Who in Manufacturing. He retired in 1994 and enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida.

Warren Spurny Wilcox
Warren Spurny Wilcox, 97, of Salinas, CA, died June 6, 2002.
He was born June 7, 1905, in Chicago, IL. He lived in Bartlett, IL for 41 years and in Salinas for 14 years.
He devoted his life to those he loved.
He attended Northwestern Military Academy and Lake Forest Academy. He graduated with a degree in engineering from Case Western Reserve, Class of 1927.
He served as Lieutenant Commander, Civil Engineering Corp 14th Naval Construction Battalion, Seabees, on Gaudalcanal and the Admiralty Islands in World War II.
He is a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. He was a long time member of Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Elgin, now of St. George's Episcopal Church, of Salinas, CA.
Survivors include Barbara Rose Wilcox, wife of 60 years; son Warren Spurny Wilcox, Jr., (Pamela) of Carmel and San Francisco, CA; granddaughters, Kathleen Rose Wilcox and Eleanor Rose Wilcox; and nieces and nephews.

Lora M. Anderson
Lora M. Anderson, 82, of Elgin, passed away Monday, June 16, 2003 in Oregon, Illinois.
She was born March 3, 1921 in Barrington, the daughter of the late George and Marie (Jahnke) Reuter.
She was a life long resident of the Dundee-Elgin area, had worked for Sears Roebuck and Company in Elgin, Spring Hill Mall for years, elgin Watch and as a hostess at the milkpail.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Anderson of Pasadena, California; a son, Richard (Carol) Anderson of Oregon, Illinois; grandchildren, Peter and Anderson of Oregon, Illinois; four sisters, Mabel Harmening and Irene (Albert) Blaschke of Arizona, Helen Vallario of California, Ruth (Alfred) Murphy of Illinois; six brothers, William Reuter and Leroy (Shirley) Reuter of Illinois, Raymond (Verna) Reuter of Wisconsin, Eugene (Linda) Reuter of Missouri, Walter (Ruby) Reuter of Illinois and Leonard (Sue) Teuter of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Leroy J. Anderson on March 21, 2002.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Friday in the Miller Funeral Home, 504 West Main Street, West Dundee with the Rev. Harry Bartlett officiating. Interment in Dundee Township cemetery, East Dundee, Illinos.

Delores "Ann" Cummings
Delores "Ann" Cummings, 72, of Elgin, formerly a longtime resident of St. Charles, died Sunday, June 15, 2003 in Sycamore. At the time of her death she was being lovingly cared for at the home of her daughter Debrah and son-in-law David Bloch.
She was born April 23, 1931, in Elgin, the daughter of Russell and Bertha (Leetzow) Bird.
On July 16, 1948, Ann married
William A. Cummings, Sr. They made their home in St. Charles where they raised their family. Ann had been a member of Women of the Moose, Chapter #512 in St. Charles since 1964. In 1996, she retired from the Butler Corporation in Elgin to be at home to care for her mother-in-law, Augusta Cummings.
Ann is survived by her children, Francis (Connie) Cummings of Morton, IL, William Cummings, Jr. of Markham, IL, Robert (Connie) Cummings of Lansing, KS, John (Camelia) Cummings of Frankfort, IL, Donald (Debbie Rarrat) Cummings of Hazelcrest, IL, Debrah (David) Bloch of Sycamore, IL, Catherine (William) Mundt of Waco, GA, Cynthia (James) Littledale of Elgin; her grandchildren, Crystal DeBurkarte, Jeannie, Julie and Kristen Cummings, Kelly (Ray) Payne, Todd (Amanda) Long, Alyssa and Nicole Bloch, Laura (Kelby) Deas, Scott (Jill) Mundt, Daniel Mundt, Eleanor (Michael) Clark, William (Arianne) Cummings III, Charles Cummings, Ralph and Russell Kerns, Robert Cummings Jr., April (Aaron) Woolven, Crystal, Kelsea, David, Michael, Amanda and Ashley Cummings, James Grocke, Jeffrey, Jessica and Jillian Littledale; nineteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, David (Eleanor) Bird of Aberdien, MD and Russell Bird of Elgin; two sisters, Betty Whitmere of Hawaii and Dorothy Quinn of Texas.

A visitation for Mrs. Cummings will be held Friday, June 20, 2003 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St., St. Charles, IL 60174. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin, IL.

William Lee Haggard
William Lee Haggard, 70, of Elgin, IL, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born February 23, 1933 in Winner, SD to Elmer C. and Verna L. (Stolenberg) Haggard.
William had served in the Navy, as a fighter pilot, serving on the aircraft carriers, USS Ticonderaga and the USS Bennington, William then joined United Airlines serving then as a 747 Captain retiring after 33 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra (Levar) Haggard; three sons, Scott (Nancy), Eric and Paul (Diane) all of Elgin; two daughters, Gale (Rod) Glover of California, Karen Haggard of Elgin; two brothers, Marvin and Tom Haggard both of California and Karen Haggard of Elgin; two brothers, Marvin and Tom Haggard both of California. 15 grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, Ryan Hagged.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 7 PM at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel with Rev. Edward Seisser officiating.
The family will greet friends and relatives after 6 PM at the chapel until the services at seven PM.
