Winifred M. Pump
Winifred M. Pump, 83, of Huntley, passed away Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001 at Hearthstone Manor in Woodstock.
She was born Dec. 29, 1917 on a farm on the corner of Crawford and Lincoln Ave. in Lincolnwood (Tessville), Ill., the daughter of William L. and Louise W. (Boeckenhauer) Mueller.
She attended East Prairie School and was baptized at St. Peter's in Skokie (Niles Center). In 1926, the family moved to a farm on the corner of Devon and Mt. Prospect Rd. in Bensenville where her dad built a brand new brick home and barn. She was confirmed at St. John's in Bensenville, attended Elk Grove District #59 Elementary and graduated from Bensenville High School (Fenton) in June of 1935. She was a star forward on the Bensenville High School girl's basketball team for three years and won numerous local, regional and state public speaking awards in high school.
Mrs. Pump's famiy has farmed in northern Illinois continuously since 1885 raising vegetables and/or sod. They were pioneers in the turf industry not only in Illinois and the Midwest, but in the United States.
She worked on the family farm raising vegetables for farm stands and delivering sod for cemeteries and landscapers with 1937 and 1938 Dodge flatbed trucks. After her parents died, she and her husband John became partners in Mueller Farms. She was a bookkeeper and secretary for the family business. In 1950, they moved the business to Hanover Park (Ontarioville) after O'Hare Field condemned the farm and expanded to Huntley in 1961.
Mrs. Pump was an avid bowler and crossword puzzle fan. She taught Sunday School at Trinity Church of Roselle and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Huntley.
Survivors include her husband, John J. Pump, whom she married
on June 14, 1947 in Wheaton; her son, Richard Sr. (Marlene); and grandson, Richard Jr., all of Hampshire; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy(Lucille) Mueller; and a sister, Alvira (Nick) Henrici.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 11008 N. Church St., Huntley, the Rev. Charles W. Kittel officiating. Interment will be in Huntley cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday prior to service at the church from 2 to 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church's Stewardship Fund.

Paula Rochelle Burm
Paula Rochelle Burm, formerly of Elgin and Oak Park, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001 at Provena Pine View Care Center, St. Charles.
She was born March 5, 1909 in Lokeren, Belgium, the daughter of Charles and Clothilda (Walschaerts) DeBruyne.
Paula married
George L. Burm on Oct. 15, 1929 in Chicago, and they were longtime resident of Oak Park. They operated Burm's Hardware in Oak Park from 1943 to 1953. Mrs. Burm was a former member of the Ascension Catholic Church in Oak Park. She was an Elgin resident since 1979.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane (Robert) Descourouez of Burlington; a daughter-in-law, Diana Burm of Bloomingdale; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George on Sept. 24, 1981; a son, George C. Burm; a son-in-law, William Descourouez; a grandson, Phil Descourouez; and a sister, Elza Zeman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson St., Hampshire, the Rev. Thomas Brantman officiating. Burial will be in the Montrose cemetery, Chicago.
Visitation will be 2-6 p.m., Sunday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire, with Rosary at 2:15 p.m.

Philip C. Harwood
Philip C. Harwood of Elgin passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2001 in his home.
He was born in Elgin the son of Fred and Catherine Wolfe Harwood. He had been a resident of Elgin all of his life. He had been employed by Dukane Corp. for 38 years retiring in 2000. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict from 1960 to 1962 serving in the US Army. He was a member of the Model T Ford Club International, the Early Ford V-8 Club of America, the Illinois Steam and Power Club, American Legion Post 57 of Elgin, the Pierce Arrow Society and the Antique Automobile Club of America.
He is survived by his mother, Catherine Harwood of Elgin; two nephews, John Harwood of Elgin, Bill (Cynthia) Harwood of Crystal Lake; his dear friend, Marla Harris of Elgin and his sister-in-law Carol Harwood Graeff of Marengo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred and his brother Tom.
Private funeral services will be held Monday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 PM to 4 PM in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Anderson Animal Shelter 1000 N. LaFox, South Elgin or to the charity of one's choice.
Wilbert L. "Wib" Heinrich
Wilbert L. "Wib" Heinrich, 81, of rural Hampshire, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001 at the Rosewood Care Center, Elgin.
He was born Feb. 5, 1920 in Addison, the son of August and Helena (Krage) Heinrich.

Elda Dunteman on April 24, 1949 in Bloomingdale and they have resided in the Hampshire/Pingree Grove area since March of 1957. Mr. Heinrich was a farmer, operating a dairy until 1969.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Elgin where he served as an usher and as a former member of the Church council. He also served on the Kane Co. Farm Bureau Board of Directors and as a former Rutland Twp. Board member. "Wib" and Elda belonged to the Kane Co. Rural Couples Club, the Northern Illinois Senior Services and he was well known in bowling leagues in Huntley, Hampshire and Addison.
Survivors include his wife, Elda; a daughter, Audrey Henrich of Elgin; a son, Dan (Anne) Heinrich of Hampshire; three grandchildren, Christopher (fiance Cindy) Heinrich of Kirkland, Michael and Stacey Lynn Heinrich of Hampshire; a great-granddaughter, Aly Heinrich; and a brother, Norman (Lillian) Heinrich of Crystal Lake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorna Schlomann and Ann Carstens; and a brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 17 at the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 220 Division St., Elgin, the Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in the Washington-McQueen cemetery, rural Elgin.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday in the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire and on Saturday at the church prior to services.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
Edwin R. Johnson
Edwin R. Johnson, 75, of Elgin passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
He was born March 12, 1925 in Elgin, the son of Edwin and Amy Fisk Johnson.
He grew up in Elgin before going into the service in 1942, he returned to Elgin in 1977. He had served in the Navy and Air Force for over 23 years during WWII, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He served on Air Force One as a Flight Engineer under four Presidents. After retiring from the Air Force in 1966 he then worked for Owens-Illinois Auto Pack Division for 10 years and then drove trucks for Car Carriers, Chamberlain, Air Temp and Lathrop Brothers.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elgin; the American Legion Post 57 of Elgin; the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 799 of Elgin; the Medinah Temple of Chicago; the Masonic Lodge 586 in Long Island City, N.Y.; the T.R.E.A.; and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 446.
Survivors include his wife, Grayce "Tomi" Johnson, whom he married
on Feb. 14, 1949; two sons, Randy(Barbara) Johnson of Arlington, Texas and Wayne (Cathy) Johnson of Sachse, Texas; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Herbert Bruce (Shirley) Fellows of Elgin andEugene Fellows of Naples, Fla.; and two sisters, Betty Peabody of Elgin and Carol (Roger) Shear of Yuma, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother and step father, Amy Johnson Fellows and Virgil Fellows; and a sister, Audrey Ewert.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tues. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, the Rev. Glen Arthur Halbe officiating. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Monday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital For Crippled Children.
Victor W. Masi
Victor W. Masi, age 77, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born November 4, 1923 in Elgin, the son of Antonio and Mary Cicerella Masi. He has been a resident of Elgin all his life. He was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1942. He was employed by the YMCA in Elgin, WRMN Radio Station and then was Assistant Director with the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Elgin for 17 years before retiring in 1984. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Marines.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin; American Legion Post 57 of Elgin; VFW Post 1307 in Elgin. He was inducted into the Elgin Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Elgin Sports Hall of Fame of which he was instrumental in founding. For many years Vic and Farney announced area high school basketball games.
Survivors include his two sisters, Helen M. McCullouch of South Elgin and Annie (William) Wright of Mattoon, IL.; 11 nieces and nephews; 19 great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Russell Masi.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin to St. Thomas More Catholic Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Russo officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be held Friday, from 4-9 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Parkinson's Foundation.
Eva B. Nadler
Eva B. Nadler, 86 of West Dundee died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001 at the Rosewood Care Center, Elgin.
She was born on Nov. 16, 1914 in Dickison, N.D., the daughter of John and Elizabeth Szekeres.
She was a 25 year resident of the Dundee area and a former employee of Revcor Manufacturing in Carpentersville. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Nadler of Johnsburg, Ill.; a daughter, Beverly (Vince) Vincent of Elgin; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lena Guldner of Arlington Heights.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob in 1983; and three brothers, Andrew, Peter and John.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee, the Rev. Richard Rosinski officiating. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be 9 a.m., Saturday until the time of services in the funeral home.
Mary L. Pease
Mary L. Pease, 86, of Elgin passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2001 in Sherman West Court, Elgin.
She was born Aug. 5, 1914 in Seattle, Wash., the daughter of Rev. Frank and Minnie Rebecca Stonier Hancock.
She had been a resident of Elgin for 72 years. She was a graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1932. She then attended Ellis Business College and worked for the Elgin National Watch Co. until she became a full time mother to her two children. She then sold real estate from 1959 until retiring in 1981. She married
Paul E. Pease on June 29, 1935.
She was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church of Elgin where her father had been minister. She was currently a member of First United Methodist Church of Elgin.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Jo Oberpriller of Woodruff, Wis.; a son, James (Sandy) Pease of Elgin; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard (Marie) Hancock of Mount Prospect; and a sister in law, Ruth Hancock of Tucson, Ariz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. in 1980; and three brothers, Dr. Robert Spencer Hancock, William and Bruce Hancock.
Private Memorial Services will be held for the family. Burial will be private in Washington Reformed Presbyterian Church cemetery, Elgin.
There will be no visitation. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Burton A. Petersen
Burton A. Petersen, age 80, of St. Charles, formerly of Louisville, KY, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2001 at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva, IL. He was born March 14, 1920 in Chicago, IL to James H. and Marie Therese (Horlander) Petersen.
Mr. Petersen is survived by his wife, June; four sons, Kenneth B. (Rita) of Monterey, CA, James F. (Debbie) of Bethesda, MD, William A. (Susan) of Collinsville, IL and Robert L. of Naples, FL; two daughters, Carol K. (Michael) Giambalvo of Elfin and Therese L. (Robert) Steckei of Alpharetta, GA; thee step-children, Rick (Marcia) Geu of Hoffman Estates, IL, Dixie (Steve) Thompson of St. Charles, IL and Scarlett (Chris) Smith of Woodstock, GA; 17 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Katherine A Reitz and a brother, Harold Petersen.
Funeral service will be held 1 PM Saturday, February 17, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 802 Geneva RD, Wheaton,IL. Rev Craig Anderson officiating. Interment will be private.
