Mary Ann Watson
Mary Ann Watson, 59, of Elgin passed away Thursday in her home. She was born December 5, 1943 in Harrisburg, IL and was the daughter of Thomas and Grace Watson. Mary Ann was employed as a Customer Service Representative at First USA of Elgin.
Survivors include her three children, Cheryl (Dan) Mish of Hampshire, Jon T. (Sheryl) Behm of Aurora, IL, James R. Behm of WI; four grandchildren, Matt, brett, Kaitlynn and James T.; two sisters, Kathleen (Richard) Michalec of St. Charles, IL, Frances (Cleon) elmore of Chillicothe, IL; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Watson of Creal Springs, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Watson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Michael Franz officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Robert B. Howard
Robert B. Howard, 91, of Batavia, formerly of West Dundee, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at Michealsen Health Center of Batavia.
He was born Aug. 23, 1909 in Marshfield, Wis., the son of Arthur and Louise (Brown) Howard.
He was a lifelong resident of the area, a 75 year member of the First Congregational Church of West Dundee. He attended the University of Illinois at Champaign and a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. He was a 50 year member of the Illinois, Tri-County & National Holstein Assoc. of America; a life member of the Dairy Shrine Club; a member of the Kane County & Illinois State Farm Bureau. Also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose at Harvard, Illinois, the Dundee Historical Society and a 50 year Seed Corn Dealer for P.A.G. (Cargill).
Survivors include his wife, Vera, whom he married
on May 25, 1935; two daughters, Barbara (Larry) Larsen of Madison, Wis. and Beatrice (Whitey) Riske of West Chicago; four grandchildren, Alicia (Mark) Carriveau, Philip (Prema) Riske, Dena Larsen and Leslie Larsen; a great-granddaughter, Theresa Vera Carriveau; a brother, Arthur Howard of Auburn, Ind.; a nephew, Robert Rewoldt; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Leslie Howard; a brother, Ralph Howard; and a sister, Dorothy Howard Gromer.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2001 in the First Congregational Church of West Dundee, the Rev. Pamela Pendexter officiating. Burial to follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Friday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Saturday in the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials may be made to the University of Illinois, Champaign Dairy Judging Team and First Congregational Church of W. Dundee.
George L. Kershaw
George L. Kershaw, 82, of Delavan, Wis., formerly of Chicago, died Thursday, June 21, 2001 in Janesville, Wis.
He was born Nov. 3, 1918 in Elgin, the son of Marion and Sina Larson Kershaw.
He retired after many years of service as a security officer for The Union Stockyards.
Survivors include a brother, Abe(Carol) Kershaw of Elgin; many nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannette Helmer Kershaw; his second wife, Alice Decker Kershaw; and his brother, John.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 25 in Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin, the Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in Little Woods cemetery, St. Charles Township.
Visitation will be 10 a.m., Monday until the time of services in the funeral chapel.

John "Kenneth" Nielsen
John "Kenneth" Nielsen, 84, passed away Monday, June 18, 2001 at the Kanabec Hospital in Mora.
He was born in Chicago on April 1, 1917, the son of Albert and Marie Nielsen.
Kenneth attended school in Chicago where he graduated from High School. He attended Moody Bible College and the Northern Theological Baptist Seminary. Kenneth was united in marriage to Helga Nelsen on June 20, 1941 at the Danish Baptist Church. He took his first church at Champaign Urbana, Ill. at the Twin City Bible Church. From there they were called to the Bensenville Bible Church. Kenneth worked for and served as president of Rural Bible Crusade headquarters in Wheaton. Their function was to work with children in rural school in scripture memorization and helping them get to Bible Camp. The couple then served the Grace Evangelical Free Church in Elgin and later were called to the Elgin Free Church. In 1978 they retired and moved to Wahkon. Kenneth did some interim pastoring in the Malmo Free Church, Cove Community Church and the Lakeview Community Church at Hillman. Kenneth enjoyed reading, was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed walking in God's creation.
Survivors include his daughters, Anne Marie (John) Uhlir of Bensenville, Alicia (Jim) Helms of Roselle and Natalie (Mike) Dzinglewski of Chandler, Ariz.; three sons, Dana (Billie Jean) and Les (Sue), both of Ogilvie and Rod (Yvonne) of Itasca; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Violet Heyn of Rocksprings, Md.; two brothers, Harvey Nielsen of Rockford and Vaughn(Juanita) Nielsen of Tempe, Ariz.; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; a granddaughter, Kristen; and two sisters, Myrtle and Helen.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 21, 2001 at 1 p.m. in the Isle Baptist Church, Isle, Minn. Interment is in the Sunset Memorial cemetery, Isle, Minn.
Arrangements were handled by Peterson Johnson Funeral Home, Milaca, Minn.
Nancy L. DeBartolo
Nancy L. DeBartolo, 66, of Crystal Lake, passed away Friday, June 21, 2002 in Sherman Hospital. Nancy was born June 9, 1936 in Chicago, the daughter of George and Dorothy (Wagner) Davis.
Survivors include five children, Deborah (Richard) Feigl of Rockford, Illinois, Michael DeBartolo of Crystal Lake, Terri (Joseph) Rau of Crystal Lake, Richard (Andrea) DeBartolo of Elgin, Michelle (John Carlo) Ibezeta of Rockford; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Vergolias, Deanna (Joel) Platt, Judy (Norman) Wymann.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Georgine Shourek and two brothers, James and George Davis.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 24, 2002 at 12:00 Noon in the Laird Funeral Home (120 S. Third St., Corner of Third and Oregon) in West Dundee. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services, in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
Dr. Ralph W. (Bill) Gilbert
Dr. Ralph W. (Bill) Gilbert passed away on May 22, 2002 after a lingering illness.
He was an optometrist in Elgin from 1951 until his retirement in 1989.
The Gilberts had been living in Port Ludlow, WA until a recent move to Bellevue, WA.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Arlena; his daughter, Helen Gilbert; son, Ralph Wm. Gilbert Jr (Brenda); two grandsons; and a great grandson.
Burial will be held at a later date at Locust Grove cemetery in Philo, IL in the Gilbert family plot.
Adele F. Mathieu
45, of Elgin. died Friday, June 21, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital. Adele was a District U-46 school bus driver for Elgin schools.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Chester Mathieu, son Chester (Natalie) Mathieu, Daughter Tina (Mark) O'Farrell, brother Stan (Lisa) Guess, sister, Kathy (Allen) Foster, grandchildren Sabrina and Alexander O'Farrell, and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her parents Stan Guess and Patty Brooks, sisters Donna Guess and Debbie Pennington.
Funeral arrangements are at Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Green Meadows Blvd. at Barrington Rd., Bartlett. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 25, 2002, from 4 to 8 p.m. with service to follow at 8 p.m. Cremation is private.

Tore Thelander
Tore Thelander, 92, of Elgin passed away Thursday, June 20, 2002 at home. He was born September 16, 1909 in Sweden.
Tore was a resident of Elgin since 1928, and had worked for Fox Valley Decorating for many years prior to his retirement.
Member of VASA Lodge of Elgin and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #799.
Survived by three children, Judith (Terry) McDonald of Lake Carroll, IL, Pam Sawyer of Flowery Branch, GA and Mary (Tryst) Anderson of Elgin; six grandchildren, Michael McDonald, Shawn (Thomas) King, Derek Sawyer, Nathan, Jakob, and Brooke Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Ryan McDonald and Madeleine King; sister in law, Gun-Britt Tillander.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-7:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. in the church until the time of services. Cynthia A. Arnold
Cynthia A. Arnold, 47, of Mundelein, former many year resident of Carpentersville, died Friday, June 20, 2003 at the Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago.
She was born in Chicago on August 3, 1955.
Cindy was a long time resident of the Carpentersville area.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Timothy) Bango of Wauconda; a grandson, Jeffery Skornia; her father, Dan Arnold of Elgin; two sisters, Sheila (Bob) Bruner of Mundelein and Patricia (Michael) Steger of Texas; and her long time companion, Bill Huber of Mundelein.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maureen T. Buckley Arnold.
Funeral Services will be private. There will be no visitation. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.
Michael "Mickey" Dudash
Michael "Mickey" Dudash, 92, of Carpentersville passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003 at Bloomingdale Pavilion Nursing Home.
He was born August 9, 1910 to Frank and Julia (Bonczak] Dudash.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, owner of the Elgin Shoe Shine Parlor from 1966-2002, and a member of Carpentersville VFW Lodge 5915. On October 4, 1941, he married
Elsie Martlick in Chicago.
Survivors include his son, Michael "Mickey" Dudash; two sisters, Frances Trait and Sophie Genovese; a brother, John "Jack" Dudash; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elsie in 1992; five sisters, Ann, Katherine, Agnes, Theresa and Mary; and a brother, Steve.
Services for the family will be private.
