Leo P. Hopp
Leo P. Hopp, age 83 of Algonquin, passed away Saturday June 28, 2003 in Sherman Hospital. He was born April 21, 1920 in Algonquin to John and Anna (Fritz) Hopp.
Leo farmed in the Algonquin area all his life and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Algonquin.
Survivors are his wife, Helen (Rudsinski) Hopp, who he married
in 1945; five daughter, Myra (Glenn) Olofson of Algonquin, Joanne (Allen) Reemer of Hoffman Estates, Elaine (Lloyd) Hopkins of Carpentersville, Janet Ford of Lake in the Hills, and Ellen (Roger) Olsen of DeKalb; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; ten brothers, William, John, Vernon, Leslie, Theodore, Floyd, Harold, Elmer, Richard and Carl; three sisters, Vera Gilbertson, Evelyn Zimmerman and Leone Munch.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday July 2, 2003 at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main St., Algonquin. Rev. William Stroup of St. John's Lutheran Church of Algonquin will officiate. Place of burial will be at Algonquin cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday July 1 at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Home in Algonquin. Memorials can be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church Algonquin.
Christina M. Rejman
Christina M. Rejman, 62, of Elgin passed away Sunday, June 29, 2003, in her home. She was born February 24, 1941 in Scotland and was the daughter of David G. and Williamina Baillie. She had been a resident of Elgin since 1974. She enjoyed her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.
Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin. Member of Kensington Country Club of Naples, FL. Former member of Daughters of Scotia.
Surviving: her husband, Richard; three sons: Court (Beth) Rejman of North Barrington, IL, Blake (Christine) Rejman of South Elgin, IL, and Todd (Laura) Rejman of Cary, IL; five grandchildren: Connor, Dillon, Jarred, Mallary, and Austin.
Preceded by her parents and a daughter, Allison Rejman.
Funeral mass will be held Thursday, July 3 at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Private burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be in the LAIRD FUNERAL HOME, 310 S. State St., Elgin on Wednesday from 4-9 p.m. and then on Thursday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Milton "Bruce" Christianson
Milton "Bruce" Christianson, 73, of Hampshire, IL passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2003, in Elgin, IL.
He was born March 24, 1930 in Osseo, WI, the son of Louie and Betsy (Kattestad) Christianson. Bruce was a 9-year veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the 81st Engineer Boat Co., operating landing crafts.
Bruce married
Loetta J. "Lou" Ross on August 27, 1955 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in North Plato, IL. They resided in Genoa before moving to Hampshire where they lived for nearly 50 years.
Mr. Christianson had been employed by the Country Delight Dairy in Hampshire for 23 years. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed bowling and golf. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and recently joined Belvidere American Legion Post #77.
Surviving are his wife, Lou; daughters: Sandra Medina of South Elgin and Peggy (Ron) Proffitt of Byron; six grandchildren: Amber, Brandyn and Nathaniel Medina and Ronald Jr., Erin and Ross Proffitt; sisters: Helen Tande of Belvidere, IL, Lorraine Potter and June Holstein, both of Eau Claire, WI; a brother, Floyd (Lorraine) Christianson of Rockford; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: LaVern, Earl, Leonard, and Howard Thompson, and a sister, Esther Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Scheifelbein Funeral Home, 13507 7th St., Osseo, WI with burial in the Osseo cemetery.
Local visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at the Fredrich Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire.

Dean Scott Gray
Dean Scott Gray, of Grand Junction, died Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at his home. He was 74.
He was born in Elgin, IL, and grew up in Hampshire, IL. He married
Audrey Jean Gray on September 21, 1950. He was a crew leader for Commonwealth Edison and retired after 30 years. He moved to Dillon in 1984, where he managed the Lodge at Lake Dillon. He finally settled in Grand Junction.
Dean enjoyed gardening, sports, music, dancing and was a very active volunteer throughout his life. He hosted the "Shades of Gray" jazz program on KAFM in Grand Junction.
He was a devoted husband and loving father, and friend to many of all ages. He had a special connection with the young.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donnaly and Phla Gray; and two brothers, Gordon Gray and Keith Gray.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Jean Gray; a son, Mark Gray of Glenwood Springs; a daughter, Adele (Maxim) Beerman of Lafayette; a sister, Genevieve (Maynard) Petersen; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Dan and A.J. Gray, and Ginger and Alex Beerman; many nieces and nephews.

Nancy B. Hardy
Nancy B. Hardy, 83, of Elgin, IL, formerly of Memphis, TN, passed away Friday, June 27, 2003, in Heritage Manor in Elgin. She was born September 2, 1919 in Goreville, IL and was the daughter of Hiram A. Hudgens and Roberta Kelly Hudgens. She had been a resident of Memphis for 50 years and then a resident of Elgin for the past nine years.
She was a member of White Haven Baptist Church in Memphis. Member of the Order of Eastern Star of Memphis. Member of American Legion Auxiliary of Elgin. Member of Women of the Moose of Elgin.
Surviving are: a sister, Mary R. Latus Masel of Elgin; a dear sister-in-law, Arlene Hudgens of Mt. Pleasant, TX, four nephews and two nieces.
preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Everett "Jack" Hardy; her second husband, Robert H. Morris; two brothers, Hiram L. Hudgens and Joseph W. Hudgens.

Clifford (Mayfield) Hopkins
Clifford (Mayfield) Hopkins, of Elgin passed away Thursday, June 26, 2003 at Copley Medical Center, Aurora. He was born January 30, 1957 in Carbondale, IL the son of Mackey B. Hopkins and Savannah Ruth Williams Mayfield.
Clifford was a graduate of Larkin High School where he was active in basketball and football. He was employed at United Parcel Service and a member of Love and Grace Fellowship Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Tomekia Harris of Milwaukee, WI and Hillary Pace (Eric) Miller of South Elgin, IL; one son, SPC Michael E. Pace of Fort Stewart, GA; two brothers, Melvin (Mary) Mayfield of Chandler, TX and Earnest (Barbara Jean) Mayfield of Elgin, IL; sisters Barbara (James S., Sr.) Moore of Aurora, IL and Marilynn (William) Moore of Aurora, IL; four grandchildren, Cordarius Miller; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mackey B. Hopkins; his mother, Savannah Ruth Williams Mayfield; sisters Maxine Mayfield, Wanda (Mayfield) Hopkins and Gail Hopkins; brother Duke Hopkins.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 2, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with funeral service following at 11:00 at Progressive Baptist Church, 305 Ann St., Elgin with Rev. Willie Tate officiating. Frank Katkus
Frank Katkus, age 82, died June 30, 2003 at the Memorial Hospital of Woodstock. He was born in Lithuania to Francis and Rose Katkus.
He was a past member of the Buyers Flyers Club and an avid model airplane maker; he was an airplane pilot, a sailing enthusiast, and loved dabbling with motor boats.
He is survived by his wife Edith (Rodberg) Katkus; his children and step-children: John (Lina) Katkus of Crystal Lake, James (Dorothy) Katkus of Waterford, MI, Carl (Mickey) Gisel of Kennesaw, GA, Francis (Susan) Katkus of Crystal Lake, Ann Marie Ledbetter of Midlothian, IL, Betty Karsten of Texas, Brian (Mara) Baer of Belvidere, IL, Nancy (Joel) Grommes of Elgin, IL, and Sally Martin of Hampshire, IL; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Sharon Preston, 55, of Carpentersville passed away Sunday at Sherman Hospital. She was born August 28, 1947 in Chicago the daughter of Robert and Dorothy Bufka Krebiehl. She had been a resident of Carpentersville for 34 years.
Survivors include her husband, William; her children, Brian, Kelly and Christopher Preston all of Carpentersville; her mother, Dorothy Krebiehl; a sister, Marily Krebiehl; a brother, Robert Krebiehl, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Krebiehl.

Betty Jo Lagerstrom
Betty Jo Lagerstrom, age 52, 1416 17th Avenue, Sterling, Illinois died June 16, 2003 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.
She was born on October 22, 1950 in Springfield, Illinois the daughter of Betty L. and Frank Hankins Gerzin.
She married
James M. Harlan and then married
Ronald Lagerstrom.
Surviving are one son, David (Tracey) Harlan of Marionette, Georgia; two daughters, Danielle Lagerstrom of Sterling, Illiniois and Beth (Mike) Shelby of Marengo, Illinois; G. Barry Blazier, with whom she lived and who cared for her; three grandchildren.
She was a home maker.
