Sharon Beauchane
Sharon Beauchane, 55, of Elgin passed away Sunday at Sherman Hospital. She was born April 23, 1948 in Chicago the daughter of Paul and Arlene Watson Ceranek.
Survivors include three sons, Paul of Elgin, Michael (Jennifer) of Carpentersville and Kenneth (Amanda) of Elgin; one brother, Kenneth (Christine) Ceranek of Lemont; five grandchildren, Michael Jr., Matthew, Kenny, Kristoper, and Elizabeth.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 1982 as well as her parents.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, July 7 at 3:00 p.m. at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. Burial will be private at River Valley Memorial Park, West Dundee. There will be no visitation.

Becky L. Sandblom-Connell
Becky L. Sandblom-Connell, 31, of Algonquin died Friday July 4, 2003 at the Foster McGraw Hospital/Loyola Medical Center in Maywood. She was born in Elgin on October 29, 1971.
Becky was a life long resident of the Dundee-Algonquin areas, a life long member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of West Dundee. She was a 1989 graduate of H.D. Jacobs High School, and was employed by Oakridge Properties in West Dundee.
She is survived by her daughter, Gabrielle Connell of Algonquin; her parents Dennis A. and Joanne M. (nee Fish) Sandblom of Algonquin; her brother, Brett (Kara) Sandblom of Lake in The Hills; her niece, Alyssa and her maternal grandparents, Howard and Gladys Fish of Genoa. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive as well as Gabrielle's father Chad J. Connell of Lake in The Hills. Becky was preceded in death be her paternal grandparents Victor and Lusetta Sandblom.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of West Dundee. The Rev. Steve Simon, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee TWP. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3-9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Wednesday in church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the Gabriell Connell Education Fund C/O Great Bank, 234 S. Randall Road, Algonquin, IL 60102.

Gertrude Vaughn Knief
Gertrude Vaughn Knief, 98, of Fort Lauderdale, formerly of Burlington, passed away Friday, July 4, 2003 in her home.
She was born February 10, 1905 in Hinckley, IL the daughter of Warren and Ida (Reimensnider) Landers. She graduated from Elgin Business College and married Bryon A. Knief on June 11, 1930 in her parents' home in Lily Lake. Mrs. Knief lived in Burlington until moving to Fort Lauderdale in 1975.
She enjoyed reading and keeping current on world affairs. She was an avid bridge player, an enthusiastic Miami Hurricane football fan, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her children, Lowell (Marita) Knief of Burlington, Bryon (Rebecca Robertson) Knief of New York City, and Patricia Adams of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Mark Knief of Manila, The Philippines, Ashley (Emmanuel) Javoque of Miami Beach, FL, Thomas (Beth) Knief of Burlington, IL, Alexis (Timothy) Olyphant of Los Angeles, CA, Alyssa (Bernard) Mosconi of Hollywood, CA, Brigitte Adams of Miami, FL, Robert (Annette) Knief of Olathe, KS, Alexandra Brooke Adams of Ft. Lauderdale, Bryon Lucius "Luke" Knief of New York City; great grandchildren, Bianca and Melody Javoque, Grace, Henry and Vivian Olyphant, Justin Mosconi, Ryan Knief, and Kelly Vaughn Knief; sisters, Hazel Swanberg and Virginia Hoyt of DeKalb, IL; sister-in-law, Norda Landers of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bryon A. in 1965, granddaughter Jennifer Adams in infancy; brother, Wayne Landers; and brothers-in-law, Everett Swanberg and Robert Hoyt.
Funeral services will beheld at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at St. John Lutheran Church, 13N535 French Rd., Burlington with Pastor Howard Gleason officiating. Burial will be in the Burlington TWP. Union cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the St. John Lutheran Church in Burlington and prior to services on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the St. John Lutheran Church. Fredrick Funeral Home in Hampshire is in charge of arrangements. Information 847-683-2711.

Gloria E. Zrout
Gloria E. Zrout, 74 of West Dundee, former many year resident of Carpentersville, died Thursday, July 3, 2003 at Sherman Hospital. She was born in Chicago on January 19, 1929, the daughter of Clarence and Irene (nee Morris) Herschel.
Gloria was a resident of the Dundee-Carpentersville area for the past 47 years. She was a former 25 year employee of Lee Wards in Elgin. She was a member of St. Monica Church of Carpentersville and a member of the Carpentersville VFW #5915 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter, Jacquelynne Peluso of West Dundee; her son, Arthur (Michelle) Zrout of Streamwood; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Swanson, Susan (Jamie) Sloma, Jacquelynne Peluso, Kimberly Peluso, Angie Herschel, David Zrout, Danielle Zrout and Kaitlyn Zrout; two step-granddaughters, Delia and Jessica Bergstrom; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Skinner, Timmy Sloma, Nathan Sloma, Patrick Swanson, Presley Herschel; one sister, LaVonne (George) Steelman of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Arthur R. Zrout on July 4, 1990; one brother, John R. Herschel.
Visitation will be on Monday from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Funeral services and burial in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery will be private. Please omit flowers; memorials may be made to either the American Kidney Association or the American Heart Association.

Lucille Lucas
Lucille Lucas, 92, of Elgin passed away Friday, July 2, 2004 in her home. She was born on December 22, 1911 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of John and Catherine Lubinski Bolka. Lucille had been a resident of Elgin since 1976 and had been employed with Danielson Accounting of Oakland, CA prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church of Elgin, Catholic Daughters, a member and Past President of the Woodlawn Post #175 American Legion Auxiliary in Chicago, IL and the Ladies of the Elks Lodge #737 of Elgin.
Survivors include three children, Mary Kathleen (Stuart) Eckhaus, William (Nancy) Lucas Jr. and James Lucas all of Elgin; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William R. Lucas Sr.; two sisters, Eleanor Bolka and Irene Somogye; and two brothers, Joseph and Edward Bolka.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 12 Noon in the St. Laurence Catholic Church (corner of Jewett and Standish Sts.), Elgin with Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 9 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Thursday in the church from 11:30 AM until the time of services. Rita Penca-Marshall
Rita Penca-Marshall, 58, of Crystal Lake passed away Saturday, July 3, 2004 in Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee, WI. She was born on February 8, 1946 in Waukegan, IL and was the daughter of Frank and Valeria Penca. Along with her husband, she was the owner and operator of the Celebration Center in West Dundee, IL. Rita will be missed for her loving and caring ways.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon Marshall, with whom she was a partner in business and in life; her mother, Valeria Penca of Algonquin, IL; four sisters, Patricia (Vern) Gaugush of Wausau, WI, Barbara Sanofsky of Roscoe, IL, Fran (James) Cash of Tacoma, WA and Nancy Penca of Waterloo, IA; her mother-in-law, Mae Marshall of St. Charles, IL; sister-in-law, Mary (Gary) Zalay of Hoffman Estates, IL; and many dear nieces and nephews.
preceded in death by her father; and her father-in-law, J. Gordon Marshall.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at 10 AM in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin with Fr. Geoffrey Wirth officiating. Burial will follow in Baker cemetery, Burlington Township. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 9 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Wednesday in the church from 9:30 AM until the time of services.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Brookfield Zoo.

Doris L. Hill
Doris L. Hill, 89, of Elgin died Tuesday, July 3, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born May 7, 1912 in Elgin, the daughter of Charles and Hilda Hill.
She had been a resident of Elgin all her life. She had been a resident of Elgin all her life. She had been employed by the State of Illinois for many years before retiring. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a brother, Charles Hill of Marengo; two nieces, Cheri (Fred) Moloznik of Lake in the Hills and Marilyn (Bob) Jahraus of Northbrook; two nephews, Charles (Barb) Hill of Fontana, Wis. and Bob (Renee) Hill of Marengo; and great-nieces and nephews, Amy, Jeff, John, Rob, Jessica and Chris.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Dolby; and two brothers, Walter and Herbert Hill.
Memorial Services will be 5 p.m., Sunday, July 8 in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rev. Scott Chinburg officiating. Private burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be at the time of services only. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Gladys V. Maushak
Gladys V. Maushak, 99, of Marengo, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001 at her home.
She was born June 23, 1902 in Coral Township, the daughter of Fred and Sophia (Bahre) Maushak.
She taught in rural schools in McHenry County for 46 years, the longest period being in West Harmony and the Hawthorn District. She retired from teaching in 1968. She was a member of the Three M Club, she enjoyed reading poetry, gardening and history.
Survivors include her nieces and nephew, Mary Wykes of Maryland, Lowell Maushak of Utah, Marjorie (Boyd) Reid of Minnesota, Annette (Wayne) Kleckner of Wisconsin, Caroline (Milt) Awe of Hampshire and Susan (George) Batchelder of California; and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lola Maushak and Grace Maushak; and five brothers; Curtiss, William, Wayne, Fred and George (in infancy).
Memorial Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday in the Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo, the Rev. Allen Campbell officiating. Interment will be private.
Visitation will be 1 p.m., Sunday until the time of services in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McHenry County Historical Society, 6422 Main St., Union, IL. 60180.

Douglas Schuring
Douglas Schuring, 32, of Huntley, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
He was born October 14, 1968 in Elgin, the son of Charles and Donna Schuring.
Doug was employed with Illinois Brick and was a loving husband and devoted father. He will be dearly missed by all. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elgin.
Survivors include his wife, Amy (Whalen), whom he married on July 29, 1995; two children, Nathaniel andRachel, both at home; his mother, Donna (Jack) Schuring Redmer of Dundee; two brothers, Rev. David (Rhonda) Schuring, of Toledo, Ohio and Paul (Maria) Schuring of Crystal Lake; two sisters, Julie (Mike) Giardino and Lora Timmons, both of Elgin; step-sister, Wendy (David) Gentile of Carpentersville; maternal grandmother, Margaret Root of East Dundee; 12 nieces and nephews; his mother and father-in-law, Scott and Judy Whalen of Elgin; two brothers-in-law, Stephen and Danny Whalen, both of Elgin; a sister-in-law, Christine Whalen of Elgin; his grandmother-in-law, Phyllis Whalen of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Schuring.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday in the First Baptist Church, Elgin with Rev. Michael Frantz officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday until the time of services in the Church.
Omission of flowers is requested, with memorials made to the Children's Education Fund.
Laird Funeral Home in Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
