Frank M. Jayne, Sr.
Frank M. Jayne, Sr., 93, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at Sherman West Court, Elgin. He was born June 11, 1911 in Barrington, the son of Arthur and Katherine Jayne. He had been a resident of the Elgin area for over 60 years. He had farmed in the Elgin area for many years before retiring.
Surviving are his wife, Gloria Lemke Jayne; six children; 27 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twelve brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be private. There will be no visitation. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
Frances E. Leetzow
Frances E. Leetzow, 88 of Elgin passed away Monday, July 5, 2004 at Rosewood Care Center, St. Charles. She was born October 31, 1915 in Elgin, the daughter of William Edna Rahn Lee.
She had been a resident of Elgin for all of her life, except from 1956 until 1975, when she had lived in St. Charles. She had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Company for 33 years and then DuKane Corp. in St. Charles, until retiring in 1977.
Surviving are her daughter, Virginia (Jean) Theissing of St. Charles; four grandchildren, Brett Theissing of Gurnee, Corinn (Lee) Hilbert of Algonquin, Eric (Mary) Theissing of Cortland, IL and Marcus Theissing of St. Charles; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lawrence (Mary) Lee of Montana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil; grandson, Jean Theissing; and a sister, Alice Groover.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 9 at 1:45 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Friday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services, Elgin.
Terry L. Saxe
Terry L. Saxe, 57 of Elgin passed away Sunday, July 4, 2004 at St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford. She was born November 18, 1946 in Point Pleasant, NJ, the daughter of Earl and Joyce Woodruff Saxe. She was employed as a Nurse at Sears in Hoffman Estates.
Surviving are her three sons, Joseph (Lollie) Steinke of Marengo, Carry "Ben" Steinke of Elgin, Marshall (Natasha) Steinke of Cherry Valley, IL; two grandchildren, Lexi and Lynsey Steinke; her mother, Joyce Saxe of State College, PA; three sisters, Judith (Charles) Schneider of Kankakee, Peggy (Allan) LaFond of Kankakee, and Becky (Harry) Littell of California; one brother, David (Laura) Saxe of State College, PA.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services, Elgin, with Rev. Jeffrey Suits officiating. Burial will be in Arlington cemetery, Rockford, Illinois. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 4 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
Douglas W. Cleveland
Douglas W. Cleveland, 61 of Carpentersville died Monday, July 7, 2003 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Albion, Michigan on December 18, 1941, the son of Leonard and Doris (nee Clark) Cleveland.
Mr. Cleveland was a 35 year resident. He was a printer by trade and was a 15 year employee of DSFI Printing in Addison for 15 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a memberof Carpentersville VFW 5915. He also was a member of the Carpentersville Moose.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Maggie (nee Petry) Cleveland, whom he married
on October 6, 1982; one daughter, Nicole, of Carpentersville; one brother, Dan (Carol) Cleveland of Mendon, Michigan; one sister, Jackie (Bob) Boross of Frisco, Colorado; many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Cremation will be private. Please omit flowers; memorials may be made to Sherman Hospital Oncology Dept.
Margarett Ann Kennedy
Margarett Ann Kennedy, 88, of Elgin, IL died Saturday, July 5, 2003 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
She was born February 24, 1915 in Boulder, IL to Franklin Marion and Emma (King) Cole. Margarett retired in 1982 from Hoffer Plastics in S. Elgin. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elgin. She and her husband, Clifford owned and operated the "Karry-Out Restaurant" for some 15 years.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Coleen) Kennedy of Elgin; her daughters, Barbara Kennedy and Carolyn (Robert) Brackett both of Elgin; six grandchildren, Kari (Thom) Gippert of Woodstock, Michele Brackett of Chicago, Megan Kennedy of Elgin, Petty Officer 3rd Class Aaron Kennedy - US Navy, Matthew Rosenkrans of Elgin, Erin (Bryan) Sanders of Mesa, AZ; a great-grandson, Andrew Gippert of Woodstock and three nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford L. Kennedy whom she married
in 1942 and who preceded in death her in 1965; a brother, George Cole; and two sisters, Cleo Dickman and Flossie Meek.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 10 at 10 a.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel. Rev. Larry Pickens of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment at Bluff City cemetery. Visitation on Wednesday, July 9 between 4 and 8 p.m. at the chapel. Memorials in her name may be made to First United Methodist Church's Radio Ministry.
Milton Erwin Merrill, Jr.
Milton Erwin Merrill, Jr., 60 of Edgewood, MD died Sunday, July 4, 2004. He was born in Woodbury, NJ on July 29, 1943.
Mr. Merrill was a former resident of the Dundee and Elgin areas, while his father, the Rev. Milton Erwin Merrill, was Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in West Dundee.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mary (Donald) Moss of West Dundee; a sister, Mary Gail Ford of Palatine; and a brother, Mark Merrill of Denver, CO; two step-sisters, Carol (Dennis) Dwyer of Algonquin and Judith (John) Nelson of Williams Bay, WI.
He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Milton Erwin Merrill; and his grandson, Milton Erwin Merrill, III on June 26, 2004.
Services and Interment were private in Maryland.
Gordon J. Nicholson
Age 96, died peacefully in his sleep on July 5, 2004 Nick was born July 27, 1907 in Purceyville, Virginia. He grew up in Barre, Vermont and spent his adult years in Elgin, IL.
Nick was well loved throughout the years by many friends and family members. He is survived by his grandson, Spencer Nicholson Prow of Pinetop, AZ, his great-grandson Naataanii Joseph Gorman Prow, and Judy Gorman and Barrett Lameman; his son-in-law Joseph Prow and his wife Ann Prow. He was a favorite uncle of many...Barbara Gattone of Barre, VT, Liz Gattone of Plainfield, IL, Cathy Gattone of Barre, VT, George (and Mary Jane) Gattone of Burlington, VT, Frank Gattone of Barre, VT; Sheila (Jim) Flaherty of Oakland, CA, Carol (Tom) Lane of Wickenburg, CO, Jon Bauman of Elgin, IL, Carolyn (Dana) Smith of Lake Tahoe, NV and Bobby (Jim) Thompson of Carlsbad, CA-many of which had visited him in Payson during these last few years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his daughter, Marjorie; his granddaughter Hillary, 2 brothers and a sister.
Nick was proud to be a graduate of Norwich University Class of 1930 and to have been raised in Vermont. He was also proud of being a veteran having served in the Navy during World War II. He spent most of his adult years in Elgin, Illinois working as a Civil Engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Daniel C. Barton
Daniel C. Barton, 26, of Elgin passed away Saturday, July 7, 2001 in Loyola Medical Center, Maywood.
He was born Aug. 26, 1974 in Elgin, the son of John and Janet Edgar Barton.
He had been a resident of Elgin all of his life and was a graduate of Larkin High School. He was employed by the City of Elgin with the Parks and Recreation Dept. in the Forestry Division. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church of Elgin. His lifelong goal was to become a firefighter.
Survivors include his parents of Elgin; a brother, Patrick B. (Colleen) Barton of Elgin; four nephews; a niece; his paternal grandfather, William L. Barton of Woodstock; his maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Dolores and Marshall Milam of Cleburne, Texas; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Walter J. Edgar Jr.; and his paternal grandmother, Esther F. Barton.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, the Revs. Gary Allen, Larry Sauter and Marvin Smith officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be 3-9 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.

Lillian Viola Carr
Lillian Viola Smith Carr, 91, of Eugene, Ore., died Thursday, July 5, 2001 in Tigard, Ore.
She was born April 12, 1910 in Wayne Township, the daughter of Clayton A. Smith and Georgia Belle (Baker) Smith.
She married
John Wendell Carr on Aug. 25, 1934. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Eugene, Ore.; a member of the Mayflower Society; the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames. She was an avid genealogist, compiling a book of the family tree.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Coy of Forest Grove, Ore.; two sisters, Charmion Trull of Jacksonville, Ill. and Dorothy Borst of Zeeland, Mich.; and a granddaughter, Jenny Coy of Portland, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and a sister, Maybelle McAnnally.
Graveside services were held Monday in the Rest Haven Memorial Park, Eugene, Ore.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Eugene, Ore.

Jesus Valente Castaneda
Jesus Valente Castaneda, 52, of Elgin, died Sunday, July 8, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born May 22, 1949 in Santa Clara Durango, Mexico, the son ofPrisciliano and Consuelo ReyesCastaneda.
He was employed as a laborer and was a member of Apostolic Assembly Church.
Survivors include his parents of Mexico; his wife, Patricia Maldonado, whom he married
on Oct. 11, 1980; a son, Jesus Castaneda; a daughter, Gabriela Castaneda, both of Elgin; and a sister, Cristina (Juan) Juarez of Mexico.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday in Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel, the Rev. Daniel Muro officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Tuesday in the funeral home with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m.

Mary Donaldson
Mary Donaldson, 95, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2001 in Alderwood Healthcare.
She was born July 27, 1905.
Survivors include two sons, RonDonaldson of Streamwood and Jim of Oswego.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2001 in St. Laurence Catholic Church, Elgin. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin.
