Aleta H. Ikert
Aleta H. Ikert, 90, of East Dundee died Saturday, July 7, 2001 at her home. She was born in East Dundee on March 20, 1911, the daughter of August and Alvina (nee Goers) Reko.
She was a life long resident of East Dundee, a life long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of East Dundee, a member of the Senior Bible Class and the Ladies Aid.
She is survived by six children, Daniel (Bonnie) Ikert of Sarasota, FL, Jack (Virginia) Ikert, Elaine (David) Buhrow, Pamela (David) Bartelt all of East Dundee, Diane (David)Reinert of Elgin and Sally (Fred) Noverini of Elmwood Park; grandmother of 25; great grandmother of 25; three step great grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Butcher of West Dundee, Hildegarde Brinkman of East Dundee and Ruth Block of West Dundee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald C. Ikert on January 15, 1990. They married
on November 1, 1930; a son, Thomas in infancy; a sister, Mildred Bowers; and a brother, Edmund Reko.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday at 1 PM in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, East Dundee with Rev. Scott Seidler officiating. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 to 8 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Wednesday from Noon in the church until time of service.
Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to either the Immanuel Lutheran Church Radio Ministry, Immanuel 2000 or the Vitas Hospice.
Nicholas J. Librande, Jr.
Nicholas J. Librande, Jr., 75, of Carpentersville, died Thursday, July 5, 2001 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born April 22, 1926 in Minot, North Dakota, the son of Nicholas and Catherine (nee Scarcello) Librande.
He was a 46 year resident of Carpentersville, and self-employed as a heating contractor. He served his community as a former volunteer fireman with the CCFPD for 10 years and was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of WW II.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Hilda (nee Cummings); eight children, Catherine (Jeff) Surerus of Washington, Nicholas III of Carpentersville,Suzanne (Bob) Turner of Hampshire, Patricia (Bill) Radke of Geneva, Dianne (Randy) Hebert of Alabama, David (Laura) of Washington, Margaret and Jeff, both of Carpentersville; eight brothers and sisters, Mike of Washington; Sam (Doris) of Colorado, John (Dorothy) of Colorado, George (Sheila) of Oregon, Mary Kay Molloy of Idaho, Fran (Wayne) Doll of California, Theresa (Bob) DiNello of East Dundee and Liz (Chuck) Tanata of North Dakota; two sisters-in-law, Anne Librande of Carpentersville and Lan Librande of Washington; fourteen grandchildren, a great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
He touched the lives of many through his kindness, wit and integrity.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Archer; and brothers, Don, Tony & Jim.
Prayers will be 9:15 AM, Tuesday, July 10 in the Miller Funeral Home to St. Monica Church for Mass at 10 AM. Interment at River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be 4-9 PM., Monday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carpentersville Paramedics, or Masses would be appreciated.
Stella T. Morris
Stella T. Morris, 99, of Elgin, passed away Friday, July 6, 2001 in Lexington Healthcare, Streamwood.
She was born Aug. 13, 1901 in Chicago, the daughter of George and Anna Hosey Peacock.
She had been a resident of Elgin for 26 years. She was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church of Elgin, the Auxilliary at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin where she earned her 6000 hour pin for volunteer work.
Survivors include her son, George M. (Vicki) Boyle of Carpentersville; a daughter-in-law, Delores Boyle of Streamwood; a son-in-law, GlenSherwood of Venice, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Morris; a son, Frank J. Boyle Jr.; a daughter, Alice Sherwood; two sisters, Sister Mary Cassia, RSM and Sister Mary Mira, RSM; and three brothers, George,Edward and Thomas Peacock.
Funeral Services will be 9:30 a.m., Wednesday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin to St. Laurence Catholic Church for Mass at 10 a.m., the Rev. Joseph F.Kulak officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be 5-8:30 p.m., Tuesday in the funeral home.
Todd W. Sowka
Todd W. Sowka, 19, of Elgin, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
He was born April 15, 1982 in Elgin, the son of Robert G. and Candice Dewey Sowka.
He had been a resident of Gilberts, Cary and then Elgin. He had been employed by Survey Systems of America. He loved to skateboard, snowboard and was a DJ/Producer and musician.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Candice L. (John) LaRue of Lake Geneva, Wis.; his father and step-mother, Robert G. (Deborah) Sowka of Elgin; a sister, Rachel (Christopher) Huntsberry of Cincinatti, Ohio; three brothers, Ryan Sowka of Elgin,Christopher Kasallis of Elgin and Eric LaRue of Lake Geneva, Wis.; paternal grandmother, Ruth Sowka of Geneva; maternal grandmother, Norma Dewey of Crystal Lake; maternal grandfather,Donald Dewey of Lake Geneva, Wis.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Thursday in the St. Patrick's Mission Church, 6N491 Crane Rd., St. Charles. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be 1-9 p.m., Wednesday in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin.
In lieu of flowers, a Music Scholarship has been established at the Elgin Financial Savings Bank, 1695 Larkin Ave., Elgin.
Luella (Hull) Bell
Luella (Hull) Bell, 82, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Elgin passed away Friday, July 4 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center. She was born May 17, 1921 in Indianola, MS to Robert and Lucy Ann (Holmes) Hull.
She worked as a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Bell of Mount Vernon; her son, Joe E. (Rosalyn) Anderson of Charleston, MO; two sisters, Elizabeth (Finkie) Deverly of East St. Louis, IL and Rosie Lee Brent of Los Angeles, CA; four grandchildren, Montrece Branch, Sandra Branch, Caprice Bell and Terrill Bell; 14 great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy Hull; her father, Robert Hull; her spouse, Eugene Bell; five brothers; three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Newell Funeral Home, Mount Vernon with Rev. Robert Whiteside officiating. Visitation will be held at Newell Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Linda Lee Crawford
Linda Lee Crawford, age 60, of Glendale, AZ, formerly of St. Charles, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2003.
She was born October 12, 1942 in Gainesville, TX, the daughter of Robert and Wilfreda Norris.
Survivors include her son, Kevin (Shannon) Crawford; two daughters, Debbie (Mike) Fortuna and Cindi (Scott) Nichols; one brother, Randy Norris; one sister, Sherry Jensen; ten grandchildren, Cassie, Cameron, Scotty, Timmy, Johnny, Bryce, Hayden, Ethan, Madison and Devon.
A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main Street, St. Charles. Memorial visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

James B. Rosenthal
James B. Rosenthal, 60, of Lombard, formerly of Elgin area, died Sunday, July 6, 2003 at the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst. He was born in Chicago on July 4, 1943, the son of John W. and Jane (nee Worthington) Rosenthal. Jim was a 1961 graduate of Elgin High School. He was a self employed Carpenter/General Contractor in the Lombard, Elmhurst/Villa Park areas for many years. He is survived by four children, Kiley M. (Robert) Meyer of Genoa, Kiersten M. Rosenthal of Island Lake, Jennifer R. (Ted) Deakin of Ann Arbor, MI and Jason S. (Celeste) Rosenthal of Garland, TX; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Jeannine (John F. "Jack") Kamp of East Dundee; a brother, Jack (Geraldine) Rosenthal of Atlanta, GA. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents. A service celebrating Jim's life will be held on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Carl Stokes
Carl Stokes, 46 of Elgin passed away Monday at University of Chicago Hospital. He was born November 28, 1956 in Elgin, the son of A.C. George and Johnnie Mae (Battles) Stokes.
Mr. Stokes was a member of Second Baptist Church in Elgin.
Survivors include his mother, Johnnie Mae Stokes of Elgin; one son, Darrell Boyd of Decatur, IL; three sisters, Regina Brown of Chicago, Linda (Fred) Danner of Elgin and Marsha Stokes of Gurnee; one brother, George (Delores) Stokes of South Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 11, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin with Rev. Nathaniel Edmond officiating. Burial will take place at Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will take place on Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Betty M. Baum
Betty M. Baum, 82, of St. Charles, IL, formerly of Elgin passed away Friday, July 9, 2004 in Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva. She was born April 17, 1922 in Geneva and was the daughter of Charles and Helen Roy Johnson. She was a resident of Elgin most of her life and was a Nurse's Assistant for many years before retiring.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Batavia.
Surviving are two sons, Allan (Susan) Crampton of Hampshire, IL and Craig Baum of Elgin; two grandsons, Christopher and Brice Baum.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; five brothers.
Private services will be held in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation.
Loretta J. Jensen
Loretta J. Jensen, 65, of New Port Richey, FL passed away on July 6, 2004 at her residence. She was born in Chicago, IL and resided in Hampshire, IL until moving to Florida two and a half years ago.
She was the Assistant Vice President in the Visa Division with First National Bank of Chicago in Elgin, IL for 23 years.
She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church and the Altrusa Women's Club.
She is survived by her husband, James; three sons, Martin Durkin of Grand Rapids, MI, Anthony Durkin of Hampshire, IL and Daniel Durkin of Boston, MA; two grandchildren.
Memorial service to be held at a later date in Illinois.
Joan Olkiewicz
Joan Olkiewicz, age 89, of Carpentersville, IL., formerly of Claremont, CA. and Chicago, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2003 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Elgin.
Surviving are her children, Ann Rusnak of Carpentersville and Robert Olkiewicz of Sarasota, FL; grandchildren Cynthia Rood of Carpentersville and Vincent Rusnak of Elgin; and great-granddaughter, Ashley Rood of Carpentersville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Casimir in 1972.
A Memorial Service will be held at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, 355 Raymond St., Elgin, IL. on Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 10:00 AM.
