Robert G. Burns
Robert G. Burns, 81, formerly of Elgin, died at home Wednesday, July 11, 2001 in Aldrich, Mo.
He was born Jan. 25, 1920, the son of Earl R. and Gladys M. (Gardner) Burns.
Robert left school in the ninth grade to work in his parents grocery store. He attended Elgin High School and was a member of the class of '38, then went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during WWII, after which he served the Elgin Fire Dept. for 23 proud years. Robert was a member of the VFW, the Moose Lodge and Circus Fans of America.
He was married to Emgard A. "Jerry" (Johnson) Burns in 1943, who later preceded him death after 44 years of marriage.
Survivors include his sister, Margene Sommers; his children, Steven R. (Linda) M. Burns of Roanoke, Ind., Linda S. Burns of Aldrich, Mo. and Corrine(Ronnie) Cole of Niangua, Mo.; a granddaughter; seven grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; a brother Earl "Pete"; and a sister, Joan Udesen.
Robert was loved and will be missed by all of his family and friends.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday in the Madison Funeral Home, Rev. Hannibal Frederich officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be 12 noon, Saturday until the time of services in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Patricia Ann "Patti" Garrett
Patricia Ann "Patti" Warner Garrett, R.N., 40, of Algonquin died Wednesday, July 11, 2001 in the Northwestern Memorial Medical Center in Chicago.
She was born in Berwyn on April 29, 1961.
She was a 1978 graduate of Dundee Community High School and a 1980 graduate of Elgin Community College School of Nursing. She was a former 15 year employee of Sherman Hospital, Elgin, where she worked as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Carpentersville. Patti was active in Boy Scout Troop #63 where she served as Troop Treasurer.
Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Terry L., whom she married on May 5, 1979; a son, Scott L.; a daughter, Kelly A., both at home; her mother, June A. Warner of East Dundee; a sister,Sherri (Dave) Vanvlierbergen of Algonquin; a brother, Dan Warner of Mountain Home, Ark.; her father and mother-in-law, James and Kathryn Garrett of Las Vegas, Nev.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter G. Warner in 1995.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Monday in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Carpentersville, the Rev. Robert Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee.
Visitation will be 12-7 p.m., Sunday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and Monday in the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

LeRoy Lagerstrom
LeRoy "Hack" Lagerstrom, 83, of Elgin, passed away Monday in Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He was born December 7, 1917 in Elgin and was the son of John W. and Maryann (Tanner) Lagerstrom. LeRoy was a Veteran, and served in the US Army during World War II. He was employed with School District U-46 for many years prior to his retirement.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Elgin, the Elgin Chapter of the Izaak Walton League.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine (Samuelson), of Elgin, whom he married on October 20, 1956. His son John "Duke" Lagerstrom of Elgin; nephews, Richard (Donna) Bruneman and Carl Jack (Sue) Meyers of West Dundee, IL., Fred (Janice) Bruneman and C. David (Helen) Platt of Elgin.; sister-in-law, Elaenor Lagerstrom of NV; brother-in-law, William (Shirley) Bloom of Algonquin, IL and many nieces and nephews out of state.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Irene Bruneman, Gladys Lagerstrom, Madelon Meyers, Marcel Volmer, Beryle Platt; and his brother, Howard Lagerstrom.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12:30 P.M. in the Larid Funeral Home, Elgin, with Rev. Sung-Ja Lee Moon officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation was held on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Izaak Walton League or the Family.

Linda S. Mika
Linda S. Mika, 38, of West Dundee died Monday, July 9, 2001 in her home.
She was born in Elgin on Jan. 3, 1963 and was a lifelong resident of the Dundee area.
She was a 1981 graduate of Dundee Community High School. Linda was employed by Mac Automation Concepts in Woodstock where she worked as a Supervisor of Assembly.
Survivors include her father, Henry "Mike" Mika of Genoa, Wis.; a sister, Laura (Jim) Benton of Sleepy Hollow; an aunt, Lillian (Mel) Gehrke of Crystal Lake. Linda is also survived by many dear loved ones, especially the Richard Schuring family and all her friends at River Lee's.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy J. Newcomer Mika.
Memorial Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday in the First Congregational Church of West Dundee, the Rev. Greg Lucas officiating. Burial will be private.
There will be no visitation. Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

Florence Mirs
Florence Mirs, 86, of Carpentersville, passed away Wednesday at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born April 18, 1915 in Barlett, daughter of John and Rose Reiner Dorman.
She was a past member of the 50+ Club of Carpentersville.
She is survived by her husband Ralph; a daughter, Beverly Mirs of Carpentersville; a son Roger Mirs of Woodstock; a granddaughter, Lauren Mirs and a grandson, Andrew Mirs both of Woodstock.
preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Funeral services were held Thursday at Madison Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Anderson Animal Shelter, South Elgin.

Keith D. Wall
Keith D. Wall, age 18 of Elgin passed away Saturday, July 7, 2001 in his home. He was born June 25, 1983 in Aurora, Colorado the beloved son of Elise and Ed Wall. He had graduated from Larkin High School this past June.
He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Elgin where he had been very active.
Surviving are his beloved parents, Elise and Ed Wall; his sister, Kelly Wall.
Memorial Services will be held Sunday, July 15 at 10:00 A.M. in the Unitarian Universalist Church, 39W830 Highland Ave., Elgin. Following the services there will be visitation with the family and friends. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the church for the Keith Wall Memorial Fund. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Ester L. Ambrose
Ester L. Ambrose, age 88, of St. Charles, died Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born January 14, 1915 in Baldwyn, Miss.
She is survived by her daughter, Doris (Charles) Ballew of Port Neches, TX, Flora (Benny) Stone and Gloria (Toney) Hughey, both of St. Charles. One son, J.D. Potts of Kaneville, 16 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Also a sister, Della Barnett of California.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ezra Potts and Samuel Ambrose. A son, Bobby Potts and numerous brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Yurs Funeral Home St. Charles. Burial will be at Burlington cemetery, Burlington. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Margaret Julia (nee Kolbe) Bechtold
Margaret Julia (nee Kolbe) Bechtold, 88 of Franklin Park, died July 11, 2003 at the Manor Care in Elk Grove Village. Born in Elgin on October 24, 1914 to Julius H. and Augusta (nee Schumacher) Kolbe.
She is survived by her step children, Denise (Nicholas) Achtermeiere of Franklin Park, Diana (Patrick) Lynn of Elgin, Adriana (Keith) Cook of Arlington Heights, Jerome (Kathy) Bechtold of White Lake, MI and Patricia Bechtold of St. Charles; 14 step grandchildren; 20 Step great grandchildren and Aunt Ella (the late Bill) Holtz of West Dundee.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Rudolph Bechtold.
Funeral service Monday at 11 a.m. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee. Memorials may be made to the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 1500 West Belmont, Chicago, IL 60657.

Esther M. Holtz
Esther M. Holtz, 87, of Sleepy Hollow died Friday, July 11, 2003 at the Provena-St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Cary on September 25, 1915, the daughter of Wilhelm and Augusta (nee Ehlert) Storm. She was a life long resident of the Dundee area and a life long member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee.
She is survived by her four children: Jean Spencer of Sleepy Hollow, Daniel (Barbara) Holtz of Dundee Township, Margie Sloat of Elgin and Cindy (Jerry) Factly of Gilberts, seven grandchildren: Chad Spencer, Adam Holtz, Catherine Holtz, Derek Holtz, Randy Sloat, Cara Factly and Laura Factly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sheldon Holtz in 1960, five brothers: Harold, Wilburn, Edward, Roy and Elmer Storm, four sisters: Mildred Koss, Bernice Hahn, Dorothy Mesick and her twin sister: Ethel Henryson.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, East Dundee. The Rev. Bruce W. Meissner will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Tuesday in church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church LEGACY FUND.

Marie Maupin
Marie Maupin, 63, of Elgin, IL, passed this life Monday, July 9, 2003 at Sherman Hospital. She was born August 14, 1939 in Shelby, Mississippi, she resided in Elgin over 37 years. She also was a dedicated member of St. Paul Baptist Church of Elgin.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (James) Gaston of Rockford, IL; four grandchildren, Darius, Arieanna, James, and Miracle; two sisters, Clara Stewart of Elgin, IL, Linda Foster of Greenville, Mississippi; two brothers, Donnie (Lucy) Maupin of Elgin, IL and Gene (Ardelia) Williams of South Elgin, IL; a dear sister at heart, Rosetta Speller of Elgin, IL; two special friends Sonny and Doris Rayfield of Elgin, IL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, David and Dora Hudson; her mother, Norma Ruth Maupin; two aunts, Lucille Jenkins and Maggie Hudson; also a niece, Brenda Stewart.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2003 10:00-11:00 am at Bethesda Church Of God In Christ, 454 Hickory Pl., Elgin, IL. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Charles A. Ramsey officiating. Private burial will take place at Bluff City cemetery, Elgin at a later date.

Peggy Seaman
Peggy Seaman, 77, of Carpentersville died Friday, July 11, 2003 at her home. She was born on March 2, 1926, in Chicago, the daughter of Wallin and Mae (nee Dolan) Conner. She was a 44 year resident of Carpentersville and a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Carpentersville. She retired from Ricon/ CIA in Barrington where she worked for over 20 years.
She is survived by two sons: Timothy Seaman of Fredericktown, MO and Joseph E. (Sue) Seaman of Wauconda, three grandchildren: Dawn (Don) Coke, Melyssa Seaman and Brian Seaman, two great grandchildren: April and Raymond Coke, one brother: John (Barb) Wiese of Palatine and one sister: Donna (Bill) Balsley of Rockton, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph W. Seaman on March 8, 1984. They married on May 18, 1946.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-9 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager Avenue, Barrington, IL 60010.
