Marie Smith
Marie Smith, 89 of Elgin passed away Monday at her home. She was born November 25, 1914 in Elgin, the daughter of Rev. William and Kathryn Eckhoff Kowe.
Mrs. Smith was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Elgin. She was a graduate of Elgin High (1931), graduate of Sherman Hospital School of Nursing (1934), member of Donor Club and Sherman Hospital Aux.
She is survived by her two sons, Andrew (Carol) Smith of TX and Lee (Connie) Smith of CA; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Janet Smith of AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ralph "Jimmy"; one son, Roy; three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Elgin with Rev. Thomas Niermann officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Elgin.

Debra J. Christenson
Debra J. Christenson, 49, of Elgin, passed away at home on July 6, 2004, after a long illness. Debra was born on Feb. 11, 1955, in Chicago to Louis and Hazel Rymarcsuk.
She was a 1973 graduate of Elgin High School and received her BA from Judson College in 1977. Upon graduation, she began her 27-year teaching career at Eastview Elementary School in Algonquin. She received her MA from Aurora University in 1999.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marianne Borowski.
Debra is survived by her three loving sons, Benjamin, Nathan and Joshua of Elgin; two sisters, Judy (Kenneth) Scorza of Romeoville and JoAnn (Robert) Deegan of Fort Atkins, WI; four brothers, Louis (Betty) Rymarcsuk, Jr. of Rockford, Michael (RaeAnn) Rymarcsuk of Addison, Ted Rymarcsuk of Addison, John (Connie) Rymarcsuk of Columbia, MO and Jim (Jennifer) Rymarcsuk of Georgetown, VA, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is planned for 10:30 a.m. on August 2, 2004, at Calvary Baptist Church, 551 Arlington Avenue in Elgin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Debra Christenson Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Kane County Teachers Credit Union, PO Box 1360, Elgin, IL 60121.

Robert E. Richards
Our Loving Brother and Uncle
Robert E. Richards, age 76, passed away at Sherman Hospital on June 22. He recently moved to Elgin in the year 2000 after moving from Memphis, TN.
He was born in Eligin on February 19, 1928 to Newton and Clara Richards.
He entered into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. After serving, he entered Art College in Chicago. He retired from Schering-Plough as an Art Director and Designer in 1990. He received a Clio Award for one of his designs in 1984.
He studied singing with Charlotte Bohl and had the opportunity to sing one time with the Chicago Opera. He enjoyed going to the Elgin Symphony.
Bob is survived by his sister, Hester Wiley and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Newton and Clara; a brother, Lester Richards; and two sisters, Dorothy Svendsen and Ruth Bowers.
Memorial will be held July 17 at the Randall Oakes Country Club in West Dundee from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Please omit flowers. Memorials can be made to the Elgin Symphony.

Timothy F. McAtee
Timothy F. McAtee, 86, of Plato Township, formerly of Crystal Lake passed away Sunday, July 15, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born April 2, 1915 in Watertown, S.D., the son of Francis and Julia O'Brien McAtee.
He had been a resident of Crystal Lake for 22 years before retiring and moving to Bella Vista, Ark. and then returned to the Elgin area in 1994. He had been employed by Textron Corp. of Rhode Island before retiring. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Army. He was employed by Essex-Costello Real Estate in Crystal Lake after retiring. He attended St. Patrick's Mission Church in St. Charles and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
Survivors include a daughter, Treacy (Ed) Solon of Germantown, Tenn.; three sons, Michael (Sharon) McAtee of Cary, Patrick (Judith) McAtee of Plato Township and Jeffrey (Joanna) McAtee of Seattle, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Mary Rita (Mel) Wehmueller of Santa Ana, Calif.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa in 1994; and a sister, Helen Plate.
Private services will be held at Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood.
There will be no visitation. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Sheila Carrie Perlman
Sheila Carrie Perlman, 47, of Elgin, passed away Monday, July 16, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born May 25, 1954 in Elgin, the daughter of Milton and Dorothy Bochner Perlman.
She was a graduate of Larkin High School, Elgin. She was also a graduate of Drake University with a degree in Psychology and then from the Northwestern University Dental Hygiene School. She was employed by Dr. William Galanis and Dr. Alan Polse in Elgin.
Survivors include her parents of Elgin; a daughter, Lane Lessman; a son,Andrew Lessman; and two brothers,David (Sandi) Perlman and Corey (Randal) Perlman, all of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ben and Anna Perlman; and her maternal grandparents, Mandel and Lena Bochner.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday in the Congregation Kneseth Israel, 330 Division St., Elgin. Burial will be in Cedar Park cemetery, Westwood, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Research or to the charity of your choice.
Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Lucille Helen Priess
Lucille Helen Priess, 84, of Crystal Lake, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2001 in Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry.
She was born on a farm in Crystal Lake on Dec. 27, 1916, the daughter of Walter G. and Ellen L. Borchardt Behrens.
She was married June 12, 1948 in Crystal Lake to Carl G. Priess. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and very active in all church functions.
Survivors include three nephews, James (Cindy) Behrens, Thomas (Jean) Behrens and Robert (Elizabeth) Behrens, all of Crystal Lake; 10 great nieces and nephews; and eight great great-nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, RubyBehrens of Crystal Lake; and a brother-in-law, Elmer Priess of Lake Zurich.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; and a brother, Robert Behrens.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2001 in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Crystal Lake, the Rev. Dave Strang officiating. Burial will follow at Union cemetery, Crystal Lake.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Tuesday in the Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rt. 176), Crystal Lake.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 485 W. Woodstock St., Crystal Lake, IL. 60014.

Charlene L. Spicer
Charlene L. Spicer, 74, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born June 20, 1927 in Elgin, the daughter of Charles and Florence Scott.
She had been a resident of Elgin all of her life. She had been employed by Chicago Rawhide as a punch press operator before retiring.
Survivors include her husband, Elvin F. Spicer, whom she married Dec. 12, 1965; five daughters, Sandra Schellenberg of Mt. Prospect, Joan (Robert) Renda of Arkansas, Nancy of New Mexico, Sharon (John) Schmidt of Texas and Cindy Spicer (Doug Hestand) of Gilberts; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Charles (Mary) Scott of Elgin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Laverne and LeRoy Scott.
Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Thursday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, the Rev. John Stensrud officiating. Burial will be Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home.

Jean A. Bixby
Jean A. Bixby, 81, of Elgin, passed away Monday in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born March 28, 1921 in Chicago, IL and was the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Hansen) Mettler.
She was a Member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Member and Past Madam President of the Fraternal Order of the Eagle's Club. She was a Member of Epworth United Methodist Church of Elgin.
Survivors-4-Children-Harold R. Bixby Jr. of Milwaukee, WI. Paul R. (Jani) Bixby of Romeoville, IL. Alan R. (Martha) Bixby of Lake Marion, IL. Karen R. (Paul) Schuman of Elgin, IL. 17-Grandchildren, and 10-Great Grandchildren;
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband-Harold R. Bixby in 1982, and her Daughter in Law-Patricia S. Bixby in 1982;
Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 18, 2002 at 7:30 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of services in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sherman Hospital Cardiac Care Center or Provena St. Joseph Hospital Regional Cancer Care Center.

Nina Chamberlain
Nina Chamberlain, 51, of Pingree Grove, IL passed away Sunday, July 14, 2002 at her home. She was born September 3, 1950 in Brazil, South America to Nick and Lida (nee Letkmann) Tactaul. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, William E. Chamberlain, whom she married September 16, 1990; two sons, Errol Keene of Pingree Grove and Charles Keene of South Elgin; her mother, Lida Tactaul of South Elgin; a brother, Victor Tactaul of Texas; four sisters, Anna Goossen of Brazil, Lida Da Rocha of Hoffman Estates, Elizabeth Tactaul of South Elgin and Clara Shikany of South Elgin; four grandchildren, Adam, Miranda, Craig and Amber.

Funeral services Thursday, July 18, 2002 at 7:00 P.M. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Service, 51 Center St., Elgin. Rev. Thomas O'Connor from St. Paul's United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial private. Visitation Thursday, July 18, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. until time of services.

Maryanne Schofield
Maryanne Schofield, 65, of Kansas City, Missouri formerly of Genoa, Illinois died Monday, July 15, 2002 at her home. She was born April 3, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Francis D. and Rose Mary (Appel) Schulgen. Maryanne retired from the Northern Illinois University Law Library. She was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Genoa.
Survivors include her husband, Loren Schofield of Kansas City, MO; a son, Matthew (Linda) Schofield of Loveland, CO; three daughters, Martha Schofield of Kansas City, MO, Roseanne Schofield of Kingston, IL and Victoria (Kenneth) Neal of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Arianna and James Neal; two brothers, Frank Smith of Beaver Dam, WI and Marvin (Mary Kay) Schulgen of Lombard, IL; a sister, Agnes (John) Schofield of Mineral, IL and a nephew, Kevin Schulgen of Lombard, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Joanna Schofield.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 18, 2002 at Saint Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 South Stott St., with the Rev. Al Neumann and the Rev. James Freund, officiating. Interment will be in Saint Catherine's cemetery in Genoa. A visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. on Wednesday at the Cooper-Quiram Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St., P.O. Box 251, Genoa, IL 60135.
