Marie Yearman
Marie Yearman, 79 of Elgin passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born May 13, 1924 in Chicago the daughter of Robert John and Helen Hanrahan Carroll. She was a graduate of Shortridge High School, Indianapolis, Ind. and St. Mary's College, South Bend, Ind. where she studied business administration and secretarial science. She had been a resident of Elgin for the past 52 years.
She had been employed at the U.S. Army Ordinance Headquarters in Chicago as Administrative Secretary to Col. John Selzak for 3 years then by Judge John S. Page in Elgin as legal secretary for 8 years, was Office Manager of Geister, Schnell, Richards and Brown in Elgin for 10 years and served as City Clerk for the City of Elgin for over 14 years where she was responsible for bringing absentee voting to Elgin including Kane and Cook County. While serving as city clerk, city council minutes taken in shorthand were verbatim. She established 48 precincts in Elgin where citizens could vote. This was prior to the County taking over under the Consolidated Elections Act.
She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin. She was a member of Provena St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Elgin Women's Club. She was a member of the Elgin Tourism and Convention Board.
She was Past President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Kane County Legal Secretaries Association. Past Secretary of the North Country Knolls Homeowners Association. Past President of the Elgin Women's Republican Club. Republican Precinct Committeeman for the past 14 years. Vice Chairman of the Elgin Township Republican Committee. She was appointed the Elgin City Council on June 13, 1990 and was elected to the Elgin City Council in 1991, 1995 and 1999 and she received the highest vote totals of all candidates in the 1995 and 1999 elections. She was recently elected Chairman of the Elgin Township Republican Committee, the first woman to have this position.
Surviving are her 4 children - Richard (Louanne) Yearman of San Jose, Cal.; Kathleen (Michael) Bruns of Springfield, Ill; Darlene (Craig) Morgan of St. Charles, Ill; Edward Yearman of San Jose, Cal; 8 grandchildren - Dawn, Dean Yearman, Rhonda (Sonny) Chaudhary, William (Karin) and Annamarie Yearman, Nathan Bruns, Megan and C.J. Morgan; great granddaughter - Amber Chaudhary; sister - Margarite Woolf of Crestwood, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 42 years - William E. in 1986; 2 brothers - Robert in infancy and Eugene Carroll.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 18, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Rev. Geoffrey Wirth officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be held Thursday from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Friday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of mass in the church. Memorials may be given to the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin or any charitable organizations that support to Elgin area.
Clayton A. Danks
Clayton A. Danks, 64, of St. Charles, formerly of Minnesota, passed away Friday, July 16, 2004, after a brief battle with cancer, at home. He was born October 23, 1939 in Park Rapids, MN to James and Myrtle Danks.
On July 3, 1965, He was united in marriage to Violet Merie Hindberg at Lake George Bible Chapel in Lake George, MN. In 1963, he worked for Moline Malleable Foundry, until 1990. In 1992, he worked for Schumway and Sons Foundry and Batavia Enterprise, both in Batavia, until his retirement in January 2002.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart, Violet; three daughters, Joel (Michael) Flesher of St. Charles, Roberta (Gerald) Haas of St. Charles and Carleen Danks and her special friend, Steve Mockovak of St. Charles; and their other daughter, Cristine (Christopher) Prevost and family of St. Charles; two grandchildren, Parrissh LeeAnna and Delacy Merie Danks; his mother, Myrtle of Park Rapids, MN; four brothers, Robert (Linda) of Park Rapids, MN, Larry (Bonnie) of Wasco, IL, David and Bruce, both of Park Rapids, MN; and four sisters, Janice (Dan) Shell of Menahga, MN, Maxine Ellis of Park Rapids, MN, Roxanne Entwistle of Park Rapids, MN and Vivian Greer of Escondido, CA; and 40 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James; one brother, Harry; and two sisters, Grace and Rosemary.
Celebration of his life will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 31st at the Moose Lodge, 2250 West Lincoln Highway, (Rt. 38), St. Charles, IL, with a lunch-in following the service. The family would like to thank all their special friends for their help during this difficult time.
Ernest B. "Ernie" or "Bud" Liard, Jr.
Ernest B. "Ernie" or "Bud" Liard, Jr., 46 of Carpentersville passed away Thursday at the Resurrection Hospital in Chicago. He was born in Rangoon, Burma on November 14, 1957. Ernie was a resident of Carpentersville for 36 years and a 1976 graduate of Irving Crown High School. He was proud of his accomplishment of graduating from high school a year ahead of schedule. Ernie also was very active with the Boy Scouts of America Carpentersville Troop #55 where he earned his Eagle Scout Award. Following High School, he began work for Federal Express and has worked there for over 27 years. Ernie was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church of Carpentersville.
He is survived by his two sons; Mark of Missouri and Matthew of Elk Grove Village. His loving parents; Ernest Sr. & Beryl Liard of Carpentersville. His brother; George (Colleen) Liard of Lake In The Hills, his sisters; Flora (Michael) Fryer of Carpentersville and Patricia Liard (Fiancee Nick Testa) of Elgin. Ernie was very proud of his nieces and nephews; Christina, Sara, Amanda, Lisa, Matthew, Jacob, Michael, Anthony, Mallory, Jordan, Ryan and Gianna and his great nephew; Jalen. He is also survived by his god-mother; Olga Liard of Elgin and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal & paternal grandparents.
Funeral Services will be Monday at 9:15 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee to St. Monica Church, Carpentersville for mass at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-7 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Because Ernie was so very faithful to the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary daily, the rosary, will be recited at 6:30 PM. Please omit flowers, masses would be appreciated.
Margaret E. "Maggie" Miles
Margaret E. "Maggie" Miles, 64, of East Dundee died Friday, July 16, 2004 at her home. She was born on January 22, 1940 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of Chester P. and Genevieve (nee Sherman) Wolfe. Maggie was a resident of the Dundee area for over 36 years. She was a very active and long time member of the First Congregational Church of West Dundee where she served as former Church Moderator, Deaconess, and a member of the Women's Fellowship. She was a former member of School District #300 Board of Education, the League of Women Voters, The Dundee Township Historical Society and was a many years board member and volunteered with the United Way of Dundee Township.
Survivors include her children, Debbie (Ted) Clark of West Dundee and Kenneth (Lisa) Miles of Inverness; her grandchildren, Samantha, Jason and Alex Clark, Tyler, Olivia and Piper Miles; her brother, Lewis Wolfe of San Diego, CA; her sisters, Barbara (Joe) Rink of Arvada, CO and Paulette (Jack) Schneider of Marion, Iowa. Maggie is also survived by many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, July 19, 2004 at 2 PM in the First Congregational Church, 417 W. Main St., West Dundee with the Rev. Dr. Charles E. Randle, Pastor Emeritus officiating. Private family burial will be in the Green Center cemetery, Morley, Iowa. Visitation will be in the First Congregational Church of West Dundee on Sunday from 5 to 8 PM. Lowell Wayne Shelton
Lowell Wayne Shelton, 65, of Hoffman Estates, formerly of Elgin, passed away Friday, July 16, 2004 in St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. He was born August 13, 1938 in Elgin, the son of Orville and Irma Jarvis Shelton. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1957 and Aurora College in 1974 and Northern Illinois University in 1977 where he received his MBA. He was a veteran having served in the Army.
Surviving are a sister, Wanda Susan (Wally) Burman of Tolono, IL; two brothers, Allan (Judith) Shelton of South Elgin and John Shelton of Hoffman Estates, IL; three nieces; and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Douglas.
Memorial services will be held Monday at 8 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Burial will be private in Tolono, IL. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 7 PM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
Helen Ruby Bennorth
Helen Ruby Bennorth, age 93 of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
She was born May 18, 1908 in Elgin, the daughter of George and Carrie Goll Schaaf. She had been a resident of Elgin all her life. She had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Co. for 18 years. She was a niece of Libby Goll who started Resthaven. Helen worked at Resthaven for many years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a good friend to all who knew her. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed bringing friends and relatives together for holidays and special occasions. Surviving is one sister, Dorothy Easley, Loveland Co., three grandchildren, Kirsten Schleuter, Mark Rogers, and Brett (Julie) Rogers; two great grandchildren, Tiffany and Brittany Schleuter of Elgin; a special niece, Judith Gromer Reck of Denver, CO; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with the Apostolic Christian Church in charge of services. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Apostolic Christian Resthaven.
Bernard M. W. "Bernie" Cook
Bernard M. W. "Bernie" Cook, 76, of Elgin died Sunday, July 15, 2001 at the Heritage Manor of Elgin.
He was born in Oak Park on August 22, 1924, the son of Bernard M. and Stella (Dryer) Cook.
Bernie was a resident of the Carpentersville-Elgin areas for 46 years. He was a former 28 year employee of Material Services where he worked as a Yard Superintendent. He was an avid golf enthusiast and a former ten year part-time employee of Randall Oaks Golf Club. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Bernie enjoyed travel and his motor home. He was a member of the Prairie Ramblers Good Sam RV Club. He was a member of the First Congregational Church-United Church of Christ of Elgin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy Labadie Cook, they married
on May 22, 1949; a son, Bruce(Kathy) Cook of Elgin; a daughter, Denise (Jim) Fischer of Elgin; three grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Megan Cook, Jason and Kyle Fischer; and a sister, Estelle of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Funeral Services will be on Sunday, July 22, 2001 at 3 PM in the First Congregational Church of Elgin with the Rev. Michael E. Obenauer officiating.

Ella Heiden
Ella Heiden, 92, of Chicago, formerly of Elgin passed away Monday, July 16, 2001 at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge.
She was born July 16, 1909 in Elgin, the daughter of William and Mary Waldeschmidt Bauman.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Elgin and St. John's Lutheran Church, Chicago.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Hubbard of Chicago, Lois (Orville) Ramthun of Wisconsin and Betty Gaumer of Elgin; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and seven great great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters; and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Friday in Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin, the Rev. Scott Chinburg officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children Memorial Hospital Oncology Dept., Chicago.
Eric L. Lundgren
Eric L. Lundgren, 86 of Willow Lake Estates, Elgin, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001 in Sherman West Court Elgin.
He was born March 31, 1915 in Chicago and was the son of Axel and Agnes (Stromberg) Lundgren. For 30 years, Eric was employed at at the Main Chicago Post Office. He retired as Superintendent of the Platform in 1972.
Surviving by his wife of 40 years, Alice M. (Kolski) Lundgren; one daughter, Patricia (Al) Frank of Stuart, FL; one son, James (Gail) Lundgren of Bartlett, IL; grandchildren, Randy Frank, David (Cinzia) Frank, Tricia Frank, Lauren Lundgren; one great grandson, Sebastian Frank; and many nieces and nephews.

Bryan R. Morrison
Bryan R. Morrison, 30, of Elgin passed away suddenly Sunday, July 15, 2001 at his home.
Born October 31, 1970 in Chicago, IL, he has been a resident of Elgin and Streamwood since 1973.
He attended Hanover Countryside Elementary School, Streamwood. Canton Junior High School, Streamwood and Elgin High School. He worked as a mover for Colonial Van Lines.
Survivors include his parents, Alfred and Delina Morrison of Elgin; a sister, Candice (Joe) Esquivel of Las Vegas, Nevada; three brothers, Andrew (Pam) Morrison of Mesa, Arizona, Al Morrison, Jr. and Tracy Morrison of Elgin; many nieces and nephews; and a step son, Daniel LaPrairie.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Susan Taylor on March 6, 2001; and his common-law wife, Joleen Madonna Starr on November 12, 1998.

Dorothea M. Morse
Dorothea M. Morse, 85, of Hampshire passed away suddenly Monday, July 16, 2001 in East Dundee.
She was born Feb. 6, 1916 in Berwyn, Ill., the daughter of Harry and Ella (Jacobi) Pinkert.
Dorothea was an exceptional student graduating two years early from the Riverside Brookfield High School and attended the University of Michigan. She then married
Edward W. Morse on April 10, 1941 in Riverside.
Mrs. Morse began her insurance career with the American Casualty Insurance Co. in Chicago and was later associated with the Morse Insurance Agency of Dundee for nearly 40 years. An avid reader all her life, Mrs. Morse enjoyed frequent and extensive world travel.
Survivors include her son, Edward William "Bill" (Kathleen) Morse Jr. of Huntley; a daughter, Barbara (Charles) Dana of Algonquin; two grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth (Bradley) Warren of Keensburg, Colo., and Charles Dana of Algonquin; three step-granddaughters, Karen (Jason) Carmichael of Jacksonville, Fla., Elizabeth (Kraig) Hill of Elgin, and Megan Nash of McHenry; three step great-grandchildren, Alex, Peter, and Olivia Carmichael of Jacksonville, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1971; a brother, Harold Pinkert; a sister, Ruth Reh and a sister in infancy.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 21, 2001 at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire.
Visitation will be prior to the services on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.
