Lorraine K. Myers
Lorraine K. Myers, 86, of East Dundee, former many year resident of Sleepy Hollow and the Holmstad of Batavia died Friday, July 15, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born November 21, 1917 in Winona, MN.
She was the daughter of Richard and Ella Kuhlman. Lorraine was a longtime and active member of the First Congregational Church of West Dundee where she served as a former Deaconess and a member of the Women's Fellowship. She was a many year member of several of the morning ladies bowling leagues at Masi' Bowling Alley in West Dundee.
Lorraine was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was loved by all who knew her and surely she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her sons, Gerald G. Jr. (Lynn) Myers of Pasadena, CA and Richard (Andrea) Myers of Gilberts; her seven grandchildren who she was especially proud of, Katelyn, Annie, Charlie, Morgan, Mitchell, Jeffery and Terry; her great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Alyssa, Jake, Jennifer, Nicholas and Isabelle; her niece, Connie Palmieri of MD; her grand nephew, Jeff and her grand niece, Christina Beth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Gerald G. "Jerry" Myers on February 15, 2001; a grandchild; and her sister, Ruth Morris.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. in the First Congregational Church 417 W. Main St., West Dundee. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to either the First Congregational Church, West Dundee or the Rutland Dundee Fire Fighters Association.
The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.
Modesto Ramos
Modesto Ramos, 93, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004 in his home. He was born July 1, 1911 in Comerio, Puerto Rico and was the son of Carmen and Joaquina Figueroa Ramos. He had been employed by Milk Specialties and Co. in Carpentersville for 17 years before retiring. He then moved to Bayamon, Puerto Rico for 15 years and then moved to Elgin where he has lived for the past 15 years.
He was a founding member of the First Hispanic Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Juana Rivera Ramos; three daughters, Leonor (Moises) Ramos of Elgin, Myriam (Charles) Barton of St. Charles, IL and Audrey (Daniel) Reed of Elgin; six grandchildren, Moises Ramos, Jr., Kevin Ramos, Tammy Barton, David, James and Timothy Reed; six great grandchildren, Ben Haddick, Salym Ramos and Noah Ramos, Alexandra Hernandez Barton, David Hernandez Barton and Ashley Hernandez; one brother, Manuel Ramos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Angelina, Carmela and Elsilia; seven brothers, Ramon, Inginio, Dolores, Felipe, Angel, Juaquin and Tomas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Frantz officiating. Burial in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation in the Laird Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and then on Tuesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of the services.
Lowell Wayne Shelton
Lowell Wayne Shelton, 65, of Hoffman Estates, formerly of Elgin, passed away Friday, July 16, 2004 in St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. He was born August 13, 1938 in Elgin, the son of Orville and Irma Jarvis Shelton. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1957 and Aurora College in 1974 and Northern Illinois University in 1977 where he received his MBA. He was a veteran having served in the Army.
Surviving are a sister, Wanda Susan (Wally) Burman of Tolono, IL; two brothers, Allan (Judith) Shelton of South Elgin and John Shelton of Hoffman Estates, IL; three nieces; and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Douglas.
Memorial services will be held Monday at 8 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Burial will be private in Tolono, IL. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 7 PM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.
Beatrice L. "Pete" Edgell
Beatrice L. "Pete" Edgell, 81, of Carpentersville, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at the Kindred Hospital, Sycamore.
She was born on July 4, 1920 in Chicago, the daughter of William P. and Hazel (nee Olson) Carlson.
She was a 47 year resident of the Carpentersville area.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Arthur W. Edgell, whom she married
on April 7, 1947; a son, Roger (Jean) Edgell of Davis Junction, Ill.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a cousin, David Pugh of Kalamazoo, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee, the Rev. Robert Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Acacia Park cemetery, Chicago.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.
Arthur Egland
Arthur Egland, 81, of Wisconsin Dells, WI, died Monday, July 16, 2001 at his residence with has loving family by his side.
Arthur was born October 3, 1919 in Newark, IL., the son of Thore and Martha (Abrahamson) Egland.
In June 1941 he was inducted into the U.S. Army and saw action in New Guinea, Northern Solomons and Southern Phiippines. He was honorably discharged in September 1945. In April 1946 he married
Verna Mae Grams. Art was a member of the Sons of Norway; the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a loving husband and father and he provided great support to his family. He was very talented with handiwork and a great "fixer-upper".
Survivors include he wife, Verna; a son, Donald (Marianne) of DeKalb, IL; a daughter, Cheryl (David) Becker of Chicago, IL; sister, Fern (Leslie) Funk of Palm Harbor, FL and Violet Waterman of Elgin; and grandchildren, Aaron Becker and Heather Egland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Matthew Becker; granddaughter, Kristin Egland; and brothers Theordore and Alvin.
Memorial funeral services will be held Monday, July 23, 2001 at 1:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Dennis Schueler officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Harold B. Larkin American Legion Post 187 of Wisconsin Dells.
Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday from 12 noon until the time of service at 1:00 P.M.
The Picha Funeral Home of Lake Delton, WI assisted the family with arrangements.
Russell Ingraham
Russell Ingraham, 83, of Sawyer, Mich., passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2001 in his home in Sawyer, Mich.
He was born Oct. 22, 1917 in Oak Park.
He was employed at Children's Press for 33 years retiring in 1998. He had also worked from Scripture Press and David C. Cook Publishing. The Ingrahams spent many summers at Bethany Beach and moved there in the late 1990's. Prior to moving to Bethany Beach they lived in Elgin and Skokie. Mr. Ingraham was involved with Youth For Christ, Greater Chicago Sunday School Assoc., Evangelical Teacher Training Assoc., and the Illinois Professional Bookman Assoc. He was member of Moody Memorial Church, Chicago since 1948.
Survivors include his wife, Raye J. Pierson, whom he married
on June 6, 1952; his children, Judith A. (James) Jensen of Mill Valley, Calif., Russell P. "Rusty" (Ann) Ingraham of Arlington, Va., Stephen A. (Barbara) Ingraham of Waukesha, Wis., Julie S. (Craig) Jaroski of Wauconda and David B. (Marianne) Ingraham of Madison, Wis.; and 17 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Albert P. Ingraham in 1995.
Funeral Services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday at Sawyer Highlands Church with Mr. Ian B. Leitch officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Three Oaks.
Friends may meet with the family on Saturday at church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.

Katica Kovac
Katica Kovac, 79, of Elgin passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born Jan. 14, 1922 in Hungary, the daughter of Istavan and Agnes (Nxomtatos) Kovac.
Survivors include two sons, John(Norma) Gombar and Kalman Paul (Lois) Gombar both of Elgin; three grandchildren, Alex, Andrea and Nicole Gombar; and a sister, Anna Pavlovic of Elgin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander; two grandchildren in infancy.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Saturday in the St. Laurence Catholic Church (corner of Jewett and Standish), the Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Friday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Saturday at the church starting at 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
Eric L. Lundgren
Eric L. Lundgren, 86 of Willow Lake Estates, Elgin, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001 in Sherman West Court Elgin.
He was born March 31, 1915 in Chicago and was the son of Axel and Agnes (Stromberg) Lundgren.
For 30 years, Eric was employed at the main Chicago Post Office. He retired as Superintendent of the Platform in 1972.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Alice M. (Kolski) Lundgren; a daughter, Patricia (Al) Frank of Stuart, Fla.; a son, James (Gail) Lundgren of Bartlett; his grandchildren, Randy Frank, David(Cinzia) Frank, Tricia Frank, Lauren Lundgren; a great-grandson, Sebastian Frank; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hennrietta (Loster) Lundgren.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Saturday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 215 Thomas More Dr., Elgin with Fr. Michael Ahlstom, celebrant. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.

Helen Parisek
Helen Parisek, age 70, formerly of Elgin died July 3, 2001 at her home in Margate, FL.
She was a member of the Elgin Moose.
She is survived by her husband Henry of Margate, FL; three children; five grandchildren; and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Margate, FL. Interment at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in North Lauderdale, FL.
Memorials may be made in Helen's name to the American Cancer Society.
Ermil Bryce Pierce
Ermil Bryce Pierce, 83, of Summerfield, Fla. died Friday, July 13, 2001 in Florida.
He was born June 9, 1918, the son of Joseph Andrew and Hettie (Duncan) Pierce.
He was a retired aircraft machinist. He was a member of Christ Memorial Baptist Church in Lakeland, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Esther Pierce; two sons, Larry (Ruby) Pierce of Elgin and Larry (Rosalie) Williams of Summerfield, Fla.; two brothers, Marvin Pierce of Mt. Vernon, Ill. and Merrill Pierce of Liberty, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 17, 2001 in Olive Branch cemetery, the Rev. Richard McCormick officiating. Interment is in Olive Branch cemetery.
Visitation was Monday in the Richardson Funeral Home.
