Inez Porter
Inez Porter, 82, of Batavia passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2001 in Countryside Care Center, Aurora.
She was born Oct. 16, 1918 in Taylorville, Ill., the daughter of Andrew and Ida May (O'Connor) Center.
Inez was employed by the Kane County Building and Zoning Dept. from 1968 until retirement in 1984.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean (Paul) Pfeifer of Aurora; three sons, James Porter of Canada, Jackson C.Porter of Carmel, Calif. and John Porter of Elgin; and four grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Huber C. Porter; four brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral Services and interment will be private.

James L. Young Jr.
James L. Young, Jr., 22, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
He was born Jan. 2, 1979 in Elgin, the son of James and Carol (Balsamo) Young Sr.
He was a volunteer of the Pingree Grove/Countryside Fire Protection District and a member of S.A.L. of Post #57 (Sons of American Legion)
Survivors include his mother, Carol (Jim) Gunn of Elgin; his father, James (Carol) Young Sr. of Elgin; his fiancee', Tiffany Dabrowski of Elgin; a brother,Michael Gunn of Elgin; a sister, Laura Gunn of Elgin; his paternal grandmother, Wanda Young; and his maternal grandparents, Robert and Marilyn Balsamo.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Earl Young.
Funeral Services will be 7 p.m., Saturday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with Bob Real officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be 3 p.m., Saturday until the time of service in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pingree Grove/Countryside Fire Protection District.
Clayton A. Danks
Clayton A. Danks, 64, of St. Charles, formerly of Minnesota, passed away Friday, July 16, 2004, after a brief battle with cancer, at home. He was born October 23, 1939 in Park Rapids, MN to James and Myrtle Danks.
On July 3, 1965, He was united in marriage to Violet Merie Hindberg at Lake George Bible Chapel in Lake George, MN. In 1963, he worked for Moline Malleable Foundry, until 1990. In 1992, he worked for Schumway and Sons Foundry and Batavia Enterprise, both in Batavia, until his retirement in January 2002.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart, Violet; three daughters, Joel (Michael) Flesher of St. Charles, Roberta (Gerald) Haas of St. Charles and Carleen Danks and her special friend, Steve Mockovak of St. Charles; and their other daughter, Cristine (Christopher) Prevost and family of St. Charles; two grandchildren, Parrissh LeeAnna and Delacy Merie Danks; his mother, Myrtle of Park Rapids, MN; four brothers, Robert (Linda) of Park Rapids, MN, Larry (Bonnie) of Wasco, IL, David and Bruce, both of Park Rapids, MN; and four sisters, Janice (Dan) Shell of Menahga, MN, Maxine Ellis of Park Rapids, MN, Roxanne Entwistle of Park Rapids, MN and Vivian Greer of Escondido, CA; and 40 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James; one brother, Harry; and two sisters, Grace and Rosemary.
Celebration of his life will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 31st at the Moose Lodge, 2250 West Lincoln Highway, (Rt. 38), St. Charles, IL, with a lunch-in following the service. The family would like to thank all their special friends for their help during this difficult time.
James Allen Hansing
James Allen Hansing, of Grayslake, formerly of Elgin, passed away on July 18th at age 65. Born December 7, 1938 in Ontarioville, IL.
James served in the U.S. Army. He retired, after 32 years of service, from AT&T;, and he was a longtime member of Calvery Lutheran Church, in Elgin.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Adore (Biesterfield) Hansing of Grayslake, IL; three children, Jim (Heidi) Hansing of Reston, VA, Susan (Brian) Klemstein of Vernon Hills, IL and Scott (Krista) Hansing of Racine, WI; five grandchildren, Ian, Elliot, Esme, Allison, and Amelia; one brother, Lawrence of Ontarioville, IL; three sisters, Dorothy Hansen of Roselle, IL, Lois (Norm) Williamson of Roselle, IL and Jean (Mike) Meyer of Bartlett, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mildred (Meyer) Hansing; four brothers, William, Clarence, Kenneth and Merwyn; and one sister, Mildred Miller.
Visitation on Wednesday from 3-8 PM at Countryside Funeral Home, 950 South Bartlett Rd., Bartlett, (630) 289-7575. Lying in state from 9:30, until the time of service on Thursday at 10 AM at Calvery Lutheran Church, 535 N. McLean Blvd., Elgin. Burial at Lakewood cemetery, Lake Street in Elgin.

Charles "Charlie" Luebke
Charles "Charlie" Luebke, 72, of East Dundee, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2004 in his home. He was born in Bismark, ND on November 22, 1931. Charlie was very fond of working with show horses in and around the Fox Valley area. He also worked for Pomp's Tire Company many years prior to his retirement. Charlie was a hard working man who built many friendships over time. He enjoyed his family and the simple things in life.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy of East Dundee. Three children whom he loved very much. His two sons and daughter-in-laws, Michael and Martha Luebke of Elgin and Robert and Valorie Luebke of Crystal Lake and his daughter, Linda Sue Luebke of East Dundee, IL. Charlie had three grandchildren, Robert C. Luebke, Jr. of Dundee, Katrina R. Luebke of Crystal Lake, IL and Alben J. Murcia of Elgin. He also had several nephews and nieces, but one who he was closer to, Dennis Luebke of MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethel Luebke; six brothers, Roy, Raymond, Pierce, Clarence, Wilmer and Lester Luebke.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wait Ross Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services, 51 Center St., Elgin. Burial will follow in the Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Modesto Ramos
Modesto Ramos, 93, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004 in his home. He was born July 1, 1911 in Comerio, Puerto Rico and was the son of Carmen and Joaquina Figueroa Ramos. He had been employed by Milk Specialties and Co. in Carpentersville for 17 years before retiring. He then moved to Bayamon, Puerto Rico for 15 years and then moved to Elgin where he has lived for the past 15 years.
He was a founding member of the First Hispanic Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Juana Rivera Ramos; three daughters, Leonor (Moises) Ramos of Elgin, Myriam (Charles) Barton of St. Charles, IL and Audrey (Daniel) Reed of Elgin; six grandchildren, Moises Ramos, Jr., Kevin Ramos, Tammy Barton, David, James and Timothy Reed; six great grandchildren, Ben Haddick, Salym Ramos and Noah Ramos, Alexandra Hernandez Barton, David Hernandez Barton and Ashley Hernandez; one brother, Manuel Ramos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Angelina, Carmela and Elsilia; seven brothers, Ramon, Inginio, Dolores, Felipe, Angel, Juaquin and Tomas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Frantz officiating. Burial in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation in the Laird Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and then on Tuesday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of the services.
Martha L. Sester
Martha L. Sester, 90 of Genoa died Friday, July 16, 2004 at the Dekalb Co. Rehab and Nursing Center.
She was born Jan 18, 1914 in Burlington, IL. The daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Seyller) Sester.
Martha was a secretary for the Leader Oil Company in Sycamore for many years. She was a faithful member of St. Catherine of Genoa Church and found much enjoyment in gardening.
She is survived by one sister, Betty Jackson of Greensburg, PA; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Raymond and Joseph and 2 sisters Clara Nelson and Isabel Sester.
Her Funeral Mass will be on Monday, July 19 at 2:30at the St. Catherine of Genoa Church, with Fr. Al Neuman officiating. Burial will be at St. Charles Borromeo cemetery in Hampshire.
Visitation was held on Sunday, from 7-9PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home 132 W Main St in Genoa, with a wake service being recited at 8:30 PM. The family will also greet friends at the Church on Monday from 2:00 PM until her funeral mass. For info 815-784-5191.
Fred Otto Behnke
Fred Otto Behnke, age 89, of Elgin passed away Thursday, July 19, 2001 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born February 16, 1912 to the late Otto and Louise Behnke.
He was a member of Nazareth United Church of Christ, Chicago.
He is the beloved husband of the late Lillian Behnke; loving father of Joanne (Robert) Dennehy and Lynne (Arney) Mesnard; dear grandfather of Lynne, Wayne, Beth and Dave; great-grandfather of Amber, Josh, Cassidy and Lauren; brother of Louise Panske and Ruth Proebstle.

Florence B. Jacobsen
Florence B. Jacobsen, age 73, of Elgin passed away Thursday, July 19, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born February 26, 128 in Elgin, the daughter of Edgar and Clara Zimmerman Schmoldt. She had been a resident of Elgin all of her life. She had been employed by George M. O'Neil Corp. in Elgin before retiring.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Elgin, an active volunteer with the Elgin Symphony and a member of Altrussa Club of Elgin.
Surviving are her husband, Edwin G. Jacobsen whom she married
on July 19, 1947; two daughters, Nancy O'Claire of San Jose, Cal. and Peggy (Gary) Martin of Longwood, Fla.; two sons, Roger (Kristine) Jacobsen of Elgin and Edwin Jacobsen of Rockford; six grandchildren; two great grandsons; and one sister, Dorothy (Ralph) Schufft of Eldridge, Mis.
She was preceded by her parents.
Private services will be held in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Elgin Symphony.
Virginia B. Schaeffer
Virginia B. Schaeffer, 79, of Elgin, died Thursday, July 19, 2001 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born Feb. 16, 1922 in Chicago, the daughter of William and Elsie (nee Schrader) Peitsch.
She was a homemaker, a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Elgin and Twigs a Women's Group while in Ohio.
Survivors include her husband,Raymond, whom she married
on Nov. 6, 1943; two daughters, Marcia (Guy) Fortin and Linda (Mike) Garrett, both of Elgin; and her grandchildren, Jen and Amanda Fortin and Ben and Brad Garrett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy.
Memorial Services will be 2 p.m., Monday, July 23, 2001 in the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel, the Rev. Dr. Robert Kasper and Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating.
