Brian Swider, 30, of Elgin died Friday, July 20, 2001 in his home.
He was born December 1, 1970 in Chicago and was the son of Edward and Dolores Swider.
Surviving are his parents of Chicago; a sister, Tina (Tim) Phelps of Elgin; a brother, Phillip Swider of Elgin; a niece, Sarah Marie Phelps; his maternal grandfather, Charles Szydlowski of Chicago; and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded by his maternal grandmother; and paternal grandparents.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 9:30 AM in the Laird Funeral Home to St. Laurence Catholic Church for Mass at 10 AM. Burial will be private.
Friends may call in the Laird Funeral Home in Elgin on Sunday from 4 to 9 PM.
James L. Young Jr.
James L. Young, Jr., 22, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
He was born Jan. 2, 1979 in Elgin, the son of James and Carol (Balsamo) Young Sr.
He was a volunteer of the Pingree Grove/Countryside Fire Protection District and a member of S.A.L. of Post #57 (Sons of American Legion)
Survivors include his mother, Carol (Jim) Gunn of Elgin; his father, James (Carol) Young Sr. of Elgin; his fiancee', Tiffany Dabrowski of Elgin; a brother,Michael Gunn of Elgin; a sister, Laura Gunn of Elgin; his paternal grandmother, Wanda Young; and his maternal grandparents, Robert and Marilyn Balsamo.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Earl Young.
Funeral Services will be 7 p.m., Saturday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with Bob Real officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be 3 p.m., Saturday until the time of service in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pingree Grove/Countryside Fire Protection District.
Rosemary Young
Rosemary Young, 76, of Ocala, Fla. died Tuesday, July 17, 2001 in University Hospital-Madison, Madison, Wis. after a short illness.
She was born May 25, 1925 in Metropolis, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frances Lindsey.
She married
Franklin Cook on June 26, 1945 and then Herbert Young on Jan. 1, 1982. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Elgin; the American Legion, Seniors Friends Club, Rainbow Club and Moose Club, all of Ocala, Fla.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert of Ocala, Fla. and Edgerton, Wis.; children, James (Sharon) Cook of Cicero, N.Y., Kathleen (George) O'Malley of Kenosha, Wis., Barbara Ann (Jeff) Plamer of Apex, N.C., Lori (Greg) LaRosa of Poplar Grove, Ill.; step-children, Kathleen J.(Michael) Miller, Herbert H. Young of Greenlake, Wis.; a brother, Donald Lindsey of Humbergh, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband; a brother; and a sister.
Funeral Services were held Friday, July 20, 2001 in Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, Rt. 173 and Poplar Grove Rd., the Rev. Dan Schenck, Senior Pastor officiating.
Visitation was held 4-8 p.m., Thursday in the Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, Belvidere.
A memorial will be established in her name.
Marie M. Bowman
Marie M. Bowman, 95, of Elgin passed away Friday, July 18, 2003 at ManorCare Health Services Elgin. She was born January 6, 1908 in Barrington, the daughter of Edward T. and Margaret Davlin Martin. She had been a resident of Elgin for most of her life. She had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Co. and Borden Co. in Elgin before retiring. She and her husband operated Sandy Beach Resort on Island Lake in North Central Minnesota.
Surviving are her nephews, Eugene Martin of Lake Forest and Lee Swanson of Wisconsin, nieces Carolyn Mealman of Wisconsin and Lynn Gage of Illinois and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin in 1976 and brother Edward Martin.
Private graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 22 at River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. There will be no visitation. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice.
Dorothy E. Brock
Dorothy E. Brock, 82, of Hampshire passed away Saturday July 19, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
She was born Feb. 21, 1921 in Algonquin to Herman and Hanna (Jurs) Kublank. She married
Charles Swan in June 1943 in Algonquin and following his death during WWII she married
Wendell Brock in Algonquin on June 29, 1947. She was a 56 year resident of Hampshire and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Dorothy graduated from Dundee High School in 1938 and was employed at the Elgin National Watch Factory, Playskool Mfg., and she retired from Hampshire Speciality Products in Feb. of 1986.
Mrs. Brock was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Hampshire, the Ladies Aid Society and a teacher of Sunday School. She was a Gold Star Member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #680 of Hampshire and served one year as Kane Co. Auxiliary secretary.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (Carol) Brock and William Brock, both of Hampshire; three grandchildren, Andrew (fiance Jennifer Neuherz) Brock of Naperville, Kimberly Brock of Streamwood and Douglas Brock of Hampshire and several nieces and nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parent, her first husband Charles Swan in 1944, her second husband Wendell Brock on Dec. 30, 2001, an infant son Herbert, brother Elmer Kublank and sister, Mildred Haacker and Esther Jurs.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 Terwilliger St., Hampshire with Rev. James Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Hampshire Center cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire and at the Church on Tuesday prior to services from 10 to 11 a.m.

Arlin Nebel
Arlin Nebel, 96 of Peoria, Arizona formerly of Elgin passed away Thursday, July 17, 2003 at Plaza Del Rio Care Center, Peoria. She was born September 6, 1906 in Elgin the daughter of Louise and Sophia Hecht Rohrssen. She had been a resident of Elgin for most of her life moving to Arizona in 1978.
She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Sun City, AZ. She was a former member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Elgin.
Surviving are two nephews, Leslie Rohrssen and Howard "Red" Rohrssen and one niece, Gladys Fiocchi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin Nebel in 1975; sister, Laura Zierk and brother, Edward Rohrssen.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in Buff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ronald L. Schubbe
Ronald L. Schubbe, 67 of South Elgin passed away Saturday, July 19, 2003 in his home. He was born June 13, 1936 in Elgin, the son of John and Viola Bremmer Schubbe. He had been a resident of the Elgin and South Elgin area all of his life. He was employed by Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works for 37 years before retiring. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Diane Cleary Schubbe whom he married
on October 26, 1957; daughters, Debbie (Dave) Larson of Witchita, Kansas, Pam (Ed) Yakel of Albany, New York, Laurie (Mike) Dannenberg of Elgin, Kathy Schubbe of South Elgin; one sone, Ronald Schubbe Jr. (Bill Wolter) of North Aurora; 11 grandchildren, Amanda and David Larson, Frankie, Michael, Katrina, Lacey and Stephen Yakel, Brett and Corey Dannenberg, Tyler Schubbe and Veronica Schubbe; two sisters, Shirley (Kenneth) Parks of North Carolina and Betty (Cledo) Cirrincione of Elgin; and one brother, Bill (Arlene) Schubbe of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Bernice Zimmerman and brother, John Schubbe.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Washington Reformed Presbyterian Church cemetery, Elgin. Memorials may be given to Provena St. Joseph Hospice.
Patricia A. "Pat" Smith
Patricia A. "Pat" Smith, 68, of Crystal Lake, former 35 year resident of Carpentersville died Sunday, July 20, 2003 at the Crystal Pines Nursing Center in Crystal Lake. She was born on March 25, 1935 in Peach Orchard, AR, the daughter of Carl Williams and Oweita Wyse. Mrs. Smith was a former 23 year employee of McCanna Industries in Carpentersville where she worked in the accounting department.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years: John W. Smith. They married
on March 28, 1964 in Chicago. Four children: Garry Golden of Billings, MT, Lisa (James) Schecker of Wonder Lake, Jodi (Daniel) Wade of Crystal Lake and Todd (Mary) Golden of Riverdale, GA, 17 grandchildren, one brother: Lyman "Ed" (Valerie) Holler of Batesville, AR, two nieces: Amylee and Melanieann. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. Bruce W. Meissner will officiate. Burial will be private. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Larry M. Caldwell
Larry M. Caldwell, 48, of Huntley, formerly of Algonquin died Monday, July 19, 2004 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 30, 1956.
Larry was employed as a Project Leader for TransAmerica/General Electric for the past nine years.
He is survived by his loving wife of seven years, Mary Raupp Caldwell; three daughters, Jessica Caldwell of Carpentersville, Rachael (fiance Sean Weyandt) Caldwell of Ohio, and McKenzie Caldwell of Huntley; a son, Nicholas Caldwell of Huntley; his parents, Tony and Myrna Caldwell of Hampshire; his brothers and sister, Brian Caldwell of Palatine, Lisa (John) Dempsey of Bartlett and Darrin (Nicole) Caldwell of Algonquin; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Al and Mag Raupp of Arlington Heights. Larry is also survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Caldwell in 1990.
Family and Friends will meet for Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson Ave. in Hampshire. The Rev. Joseph P. Nicolosi, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Thursday in church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. James Allen Hansing
James Allen Hansing, of Grayslake, formerly of Elgin, passed away on July 18th at age 65. Born December 7, 1938 in Ontarioville, IL.
James served in the U.S. Army. He retired, after 32 years of service, from AT&T;, and he was a longtime member of Calvery Lutheran Church, in Elgin.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Adore (Biesterfield) Hansing of Grayslake, IL; three children, Jim (Heidi) Hansing of Reston, VA, Susan (Brian) Klemstein of Vernon Hills, IL and Scott (Krista) Hansing of Racine, WI; five grandchildren, Ian, Elliot, Esme, Allison, and Amelia; one brother, Lawrence of Ontarioville, IL; three sisters, Dorothy Hansen of Roselle, IL, Lois (Norm) Williamson of Roselle, IL and Jean (Mike) Meyer of Bartlett, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mildred (Meyer) Hansing; four brothers, William, Clarence, Kenneth and Merwyn; and one sister, Mildred Miller.
