Thomas P. "Tom" Spates
Thomas P. "Tom" Spates, 72, of Quincy, IL, formerly of West Dundee, died Sunday in Quincy. He was born on March 5, 1932 in Decatur, the son of Delbert and Elizabeth V. (nee Acton) Spates. He was a former 62 year resident of the Dundee area and was a long time member of the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and a Korean War veteran. Tom was a collector and enthusiast of farm tractor models and he enjoyed wood working. He was a former volunteer fireman for Carpentersville and East Dundee Fire Departments for a number of years.
He is survived by his brother, James (Sharon) Spates of Elgin; and his sister, Maria (James) Vandedrink of South Elgin. Several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and many friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Robert (Rita) and Joseph (Christine) Spates.
Funeral Mass will be on Friday at 10 AM in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Friday in church from 9 AM until time of Mass. Virginia B. Schaeffer
Virginia B. Schaeffer, 79, of Elgin, died Thursday, July 19, 2001 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born Feb. 16, 1922 in Chicago, the daughter of William and Elsie (nee Schrader) Peitsch.
She was a homemaker, a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Elgin and Twigs a Women's Group while in Ohio.
Survivors include her husband,Raymond, whom she married
on Nov. 6, 1943; two daughters, Marcia (Guy) Fortin and Linda (Mike) Garrett, both of Elgin; and her grandchildren, Jen and Amanda Fortin and Ben and Brad Garrett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy.
Memorial Services will be 2 p.m., Monday, July 23, 2001 in the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel, the Rev. Dr. Robert Kasper and Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating.

Barbara A. Ross
Barbara A. Ross, age 63. of Carpentersville, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 19, 2003. She was born May 21, 1940 in Lexington, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Richard and Ruby (Lanter) Brinegar.
She was former owner and operator of Anne's Pizza in Carpentersville, Carpentersville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and Carpentersville Ladies of the Moose Lodge.
She is survived by a daughter, Gina (Terry) Swanner of Ingleside; one sister, Beverly (James) Gaunce of Cynthiana, Kentucky; one brother, Ronald (Beverly) Brinegar of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Amber Stroup of Salem, Wisconsin, Chad & Kyle Stroup of Ingleside, Illinois; one great-granddaughter, Hailey Stroup on Salem, Wisconsin.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Brinegar.
Visitation Wednesday, July 23, 2003 from 3-8 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Interment will be Estates of Serenity cemetery Marion, Indiana on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
Ronald L. Schubbe, Sr.
Ronald L. Schubbe, Sr., 67 of South Elgin passed away Saturday, July 19, 2003 in his home. He was born June 13, 1936 in Elgin, the son of John and Viola Bremmer Schubbe. He had been a resident of the Elgin and South Elgin area all of his life. He was employed by Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works for 37 years before retiring. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Diane Cleary Schubbe whom he married
on October 26, 1957; daughters, Debbie (Dave) Larson of Witchita, Kansas, Pam (Ed) Yakel of Albany, New York, Laurie (Mike) Dannenberg of Elgin, Kathy Schubbe of South Elgin; one sone, Ronald Schubbe Jr. of North Aurora; 11 grandchildren, Amanda and David Larson, Frankie, Michael, Katrina, Lacey and Stephen Yakel, Brett and Corey Dannenberg, Tyler Schubbe and Veronica Schubbe; two sisters, Shirley (Kenneth) Parks of North Carolina and Betty (Cledo) Cirrincione of Elgin; and one brother, Bill (Arlene) Schubbe of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Bernice Zimmerman and brother, John Schubbe.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Washington Reformed Presbyterian Church cemetery, Elgin. Memorials may be given to Provena St. Joseph Hospice.
Barbara A. Wrobel
Barbara A. Wrobel, 68 of Sycamore, formerly of Elgin passed away Monday, July 21 in Sycamore. She was born April 25, 1935 in Chicago the daughter of Elton and Florence Bendel. She had been a resident of Elgin for over 30 years before recently moving to Sycamore. She had been employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for 9 years before retiring.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Surviving are her two daughters, Shirley (Dennis) Fashimpaur of Hampshire, Stacie (Michael) Mendel of Sycamore; five grandchildren, Justine, Dennis, Spencer, Brandon and Hannah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John A. Wrobel in 1990.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Forest Home cemetery, Forest Park. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time the time of services in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Diabetes Association.
Earl M. Ackmann
Earl M. Ackmann, of Sextonville, WI, formerly of Elgin died Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at his home in Sextonville. He was born August 18, 1925 in Elgin, the son of Ervin and Marie (Anderson) Ackmann. He joined the U.S. Navy when he was 17 years old and served in the South Pacific for 3 1/2 years. He married
Virginia "Pat" Stuart on July 27, 1946 in Elgin, Illinois.
Earl graduated from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, majoring in Ministry. He was a police officer for the Elgin Police Force for 20 years from 1956-1976 and then moving to the Richland Center area where he worked for J.C. Penney for 21 years in maintenance. He thoroughly enjoyed being a part of his church and studying the Bible, and also enjoyed archery, deer hunting, and water aerobics. A big part of Earl and Pat's life was working in children's homes.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Pat" Ackmann of Sextonville; a son, Larry Ackmann of Elgin, Illinois; a daughter, Mary Ann (Marc) Awe of Rockford, Illinois; four grandchildren, Lisa Krich of Carpentersville, Illinois, Jesse (Jamie) Ackmann of Anchorage, Alaska, Tyler and Megan Awe, both of Rockford, Illinois; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Schmidt of Citrus Heights, California and Marlene Thornsness of Durango, Colorado; a half brother, Dennis (Carolyn) Ackmann of Simi Valley, California; a half sister, Lauralee Ralston of Nevada; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pratt Memorial Chapel in Richland Center with Rev. Charles Hayes officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Local Veterans Memorial Honors Unit in the Sextonville cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and also on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the Pratt Memorial Chapel. James Allen Hansing
James Allen Hansing, of Grayslake, formerly of Elgin, passed away on July 18th at age 65. Born December 7, 1938 in Ontarioville, IL.
James served in the U.S. Army. He retired, after 32 years of service, from AT&T;, and he was a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church, in Elgin.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Adore (Biesterfeld) Hansing of Grayslake, IL; three children, Jim (Heidi) Hansing of Reston, VA, Susan (Brian) Klemstein of Vernon Hills, IL and Scott (Krista) Hansing of Racine, WI; five grandchildren, Ian, Elliott, Esme, Allison, and Amelia; one brother, Lawrence of Ontarioville, IL; three sisters, Dorothy Hansen of Roselle, IL, Lois (Norm) Williamson of Roselle, IL and Jean (Mike) Meyer of Bartlett, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mildred (Meyer) Hansing; four brothers, William, Clarence, Kenneth and Merwyn; and one sister, Mildred Miller.

Edward Earl VanDusen
Edward Earl VanDusen of Burlington, IL died April 16, 2004, in Apache Junction, AZ. He was 77.
Mr. VanDusen lived in Burlington most of his married
life after growing up in the DeKalb area. A World War II veteran, Mr. VanDusen worked as a truck driver for Elliott & Wood of DeKalb and retired from Burren Transfer of Elgin after 27 years of service. Mr. VanDusen was a life long member of Country Evangelical Covenant Church of Elgin, an active member of the Burlington Fire Department, the Burlington Ambulance Service and the Lions Club.
His parents, William Earl and Alice Stout VanDusen preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen; three daughters, Ben (Jim) Claywell, Jessie Schramer and Mary (Dennis) Lombardo; a son, William (Bev) VanDusen; seven grandchildren, Scott Schramer, Cristin Odom, Jennelle and Matthew Lombardo, Heather and David VanDusen and James Claywell. Two sisters, Jennie Scott of DeKalb and Margaret Seyller-Freeman of Elgin also survive him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 24, at 1:00 p.m. at the Country Covenant Church located at Rt. 47 and McDonald Road. Burial will be in Burlington cemetery.
Howard Clarence Haumiller
Howard Clarence Haumiller, 83, of Deltona, Florida, died Friday, July 20, 2001.
Mr. Haumiller was a retired real estate broker. Born in Elgin, Illinois, he moved to Central Florida in 1986 from Elgin. Mr. Haumiller was Methodist. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his sons, Douglas Haumiller of Naperville, IL and Philip Haumiller of Fern Park, FL; and five grandchildren.

Myron "Mike" D. Lasinsky
Myron "Mike" D. Lasinsky, 59, of Elgin died Friday, July 20, 2001.
He was born on March 17, 1942 in Chicago, the son of Alfred and Libby Slonimsky Lasinsky.
On November 16, 1974 in Marengo, he married
Karen L. Thiede. Mike was employed by Exel Logistics in Elgin. He was an avid movie buff, a Star Treckie and a photographer.
Surviving are his wife of Elgin; two sisters, Fern (Richard) Tansini of Willowbrook, Jeri (Stanley) Schultz of Schiller Park; many nieces and nephews, including special niece, Bonnie (Bill) Jakab and great niece, Dinean Jakab; an aunt, Esther Leibovich of Chicago; and father-in-law, James Thiede of Marengo.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at the Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Highway, Marengo until time of Funeral Service at 1 PM. Interment will be private.
