Norbert W. Lipprandt
Norbert W. Lipprandt, 68, of West Dundee, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001 in his home.
He was born on Jan. 28, 1933 in Green Grove, Wis.
He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Dundee VFW 2298.
Survivors include four daughters, Carol Stroud of Hampshire, Peggy (Gary) Pflueger of Elgin, Donna Jean (Bruce) Strelinsky of Lake in the Hills and Tammy Domich of Elgin; a son, Steve Lipprandt of Carpentersville; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two sisters, Elsie Anderson of Spencer, Wis. and Anita McKenna of Milwaukee, Wis.; and a brother, Robert (Chris) Lipprandt of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Wildlife Foundation.
Emil Emerick Mayer
Emil Emerick Mayer, 87, of Elgin, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001 in Rosewood Care Center, Elgin.
He was born in Elgin on May 27, 1914, the son of Emerick and Julia (Balogh) Mayer.
A lifelong Elgin resident he was owner and president of Beck's Office Supplies.
He was a veteran of WW II, having served in the Army Air Force and the 78th Infantry Division in Germany. Among the military honors he was awarded the Bronze Star.
Emil was a member of the American Legion Post 57; the Kiwanis Club of Elgin; the Elgin area Historical Society; the Downtown Neighborhood Association and a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board.
He was active in Boy Scouts in the 20's & 30's (Eagle Scout and Scoutmaster) and in Downtown Promotional Activities in the 60's and 70's. He served as Chairman of the Downtown Organization in 1964 while also serving as a member of the Red Cross.
Survivors include a sister, Irene (Carl) Wegmann of Elgin; a sister-in-law,Florence (Ernest) Mayer of Soquel, Calif.; five nieces, Janet Hopkins and Susan Mayer of Bartlett, Cheryl Glover of Capitola, Calif., Nancy Mayer of Freeland, Wash. and Kim Reed of Carol Stream; and five nephews, Donald Mayer of Soquel, Calif., David (Suzanne) Erickson of Decatur, Ga., John (Linda) Erickson of Kansas City, Mo., Gary Wegmann of Elgin, and Robert Mayer of Burlington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Erickson; and two brothers, Emerick J. Mayer II and Ernest Mayer.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, the Rev. Ralph McFadden officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the American Red Cross.
Gene A. Nerge
Gene A. Nerge, 56, of Elgin, formerly of East Dundee died Wednesday, July 25, 2001 in the Maplewood Care Center, Elgin.
He was born in Elgin on March 10, 1945, the son of LeRoy and Lila (nee Steinmann) Nerge.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of East Dundee.
Gene was a VietNam War Veteran having served in the United States Army. He was a life member of Dundee VFW #2298.
Survivors include three brothers,Warren (Sylvia) Nerge of Lake in the Hills, Danny Nerge of East Dundee and Randy (Sue) Nerge of East Dundee; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Arland.
Funeral Services will be 12 noon in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee, the Rev. William P. Yonker officiating. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.

Ina Mae Price Harrell
Ina Mae Price Harrell, age 69, of Carterville, IL. passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2001 at her home. Born January 16, 1932 in Egypt, AR.
Mrs. Harrell was of the Baptist belief. She was a member of the Twin Oaks Baptist Church in Elgin, IL. She had moved to Illinois in 1957. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Billy Jack Harrell; one son, Michael Lynn Harrell; two granddaughters and two brothers preceded her in death.
She is survived by five sons, Billy Steven Harrell of Elgin, Terry Harrell of Carterville, Scott Harrell of Elgin, Roger Harrell of Carterville and Jeff Harrell of Carterville; one daughter, Melissa Milowski of Carterville; four sisters, Barb Able of Tennessee, Marsha Knox of Texas, Rosie Hayes of Hoxie, AR and Lillian West of Bono, AR; fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral service will be Saturday, July 28, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel, Jonesboro, AR, Rev. G.W. Endicott, officiating. Interment Trinity cemetery.
Visitation was Friday, July 27, 2001 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.
Patricia B. "Pat" Grass
Patricia B. "Pat" Grass, 68, of Carpentersville died Friday, July 27, 2001 at the Alderwood Care Center in South Elgin. She was born in Chicago on November 21, 1932, the daughter of Herbert and Lillian (nee Phillips) Preston.
Pat has been a resident of Carpentersville since 1957. She was a member of the Carpentersville VFW #5915 Ladies Auxiliary. She was one of the founding of the Carpentersville Helping Hands. She was very active in PTA and served as a Kane County Election Judge.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard E.; a daughter, Jackie (Randy) Bartylla of South Elgin; two sons, Richard C. (Georgina) of Carpentersville and Robert (Cindy) of Kentucky; five grandchildren, Chris, Corey and Karrah Grass, James (Cristy) Lamb, III and Jason (Terina) Gehringer; two great grandsons, Joshua Lamb and Brandon Gehringer; a sister, Jane (Casey) Silewicz of California; and a brother, Robert (Helen) Preston of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter in infancy; a sister, Dorothy Cotter; and two brothers, Michael Murphy and Pete Preston.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday at 10 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be on Monday from 6 to 9 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
Leland "Lee" Lueck
Leland "Lee" Lueck, 82, of Elgin passed away Friday, July 27, 2001 at Asta Care Center.
He was born August 27, 1918 in West Dundee, the son of Emil and Martha Unruh Lueck.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Elgin and a member of the Elgin Golden K, he retired from Cook Publishing in 1986. He was a former Treasurer for the Elgin Salvation Army and was active with Boy Scout Troop 2 in Elgin.
Survivors include two daughters, Janelle Worley of Elgin and Cindy (Steve) Lueck-Blank of WA; a son, Larry (Karen) Lueck of Chicago; and two grandchildren, Gretchen and Chelsea Blank of WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn in 1999; a brother; and a sister.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2001 at 7 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church, Elgin with Rev. Thomas Nierman officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be from 5 PM until time of service.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or the Elgin Golden K.

Evelyn C. Range
Evelyn C. Range, 96, of Elgin passed away Saturday, July 28, 2001 in the Carrington Care Center, South Elgin.
She was born June 29, 1905 in Elgin, the daughter of Charles and Clara DePew.
She had been a resident of Elgin all of her life. She had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Co. for many years before retiring.
Surviving are her daughter, Marilyn Range of South Elgin; nieces and nephews, Charles Rosene of Elgin, Dr. Paul Rosene of Lady Lake, FL, Paula Liedberg of Phoenix, AZ, Ron Range of Elgin and Carol (Wesley) Landwehr of Elgin; a sister-in-law, Nellie Range of South Elgin; and many other lifetime close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond H. Range in 1942; a sister, Dorothy Rosene; and a brother, James "Bud" DePew.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at 11 AM in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Calvary Lutheran Church, Elgin. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
Donald Edward Stangland
Donald Edward Stangland, 69, of Bend, Ore., died June 18, 2001 of cancer.
He was born Feb. 16, 1932, the son of Gabrial and Olga Stangland.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 in the Pacific. He graduated from Oregon State College in 1960 and married
Jacquelin Kight in 1961 in Salem. He worked for more than 30 years as a Human Resources Manager. In Bend, he worked for Diamond/Brooks-Scanlon, Advanced Power Technology and Fortune Consultants and retired in March of 2001.
Survivors include his wife of Bend, Ore.; two daughters, Kristi and Karin, both of Bend; a son Mark of Bellingham, Wash.; his father, Gabrial of Salem; his step-mother, Bernice of Salem; a sister, Barbara Bartlett of Eugene; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by hismother.
Funeral services were held in Oregon.
