Dennis W. Ward
Dennis W. Ward, 47, of South Elgin, formerly of West Chicago, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001 in South Elgin.
Beloved son of Arthur and Kathryn nee Quain. Loving brother of Claudia Ward of Denver, CO, Stephen Ward of Gilberts, IL, and Karen (Dean) Miller of DeKalb, IL. Dear uncle of William and Kimberly and great uncle of Haley. Fond Nephew and cousin to many. preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth.
Memorial Service Saturday, August 11, 12:30 PM at Resurrection Catholic Church, Wayne, IL. Dennis was born February 27, 1954 in Chicago, IL. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast.

Al L. Buie
Al L. Buie, 76 of Sycamore, IL formerly of Elgin passed away Sunday, July 27, 2003 in his home. He was born April 25, 1927 in Mountain Home, Arkansas and was the son of Arpha and Ella Buie. He had been a resident of Elgin for many years and a resident of Sycamore for the past five years. He was a cement mason before retiring.
Surviving are his wife, Louise; one daughter, Fonda Galston of Elgin; three sons, Al L. (Faith) Buie III of Elgin, Guy Buie of Elgin, Jim (Candy) Buie of Sycamore, IL; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clinton (Maxine) Buie of Camby, Oregon, Henry (Wilda) Buie of St. Charles, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter in infancy; one sister, Juanita Millard; one brother, Chester Buie.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 State St., Elgin with Chaplain Goldy Mortensen officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

David D. Grupe
David D. Grupe, 56, of Elgin passed away Monday, July 28, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born December 1, 1946 in Elgin, the son of David W. and Vernelda Lembke Grupe. He had been a resident of Elgin all of his life. He was a graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1964. He was employed by the Kane County Dept. of Transportation for 33 years and was looking forward to his retirement years. His passion for golf led him to play at many of the local golf courses.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon Doeringsfeld Grupe whom he married April 23, 1966, two daughters, Kirsten (Michael) Wilson of Richmond, IL, Kelli (Robert) Catini of Lake In The Hills, two grandsons, Kyle Karakas and Jacob Catini, his father, David W. Grupe of Brooksville, FL, sister Noreen (Robert) Holycross of Indiana, brother Paul (Donna) Grupe of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and brother in law, Ron Doeringsfeld.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 31 at 1:30 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary Frances (Mickey) Schnoor
Mary Frances (Mickey) Schnoor, 71 of Carpentersville died Saturday, July 26 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Elgin.
Surviving are six sons, Ray (Sue) and Ralph of Carpentersville, Leo of Belvidere, Dave (Shawn) of Hampshire, Paul (Ann) of Palatine, Phil (Dorothy) of Crystal Lake; two daughters, Jean (Mike) White and Sue Schnoor, both of Country Club Hills; sixteen grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willard; her grandson, Andrew White.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Community Funeral Home, East Dundee to St. Monica's Catholic Church, Carpentersville, for Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Dundee Township cemetery, East Dundee.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30 at Community Funeral Home.
Memorial masses may be made to the family.

Ruby D. Studt
Ruby D. Studt, 89, of Elgin passed away Sunday, July 27 in Oak Crest Residence in Elgin. She was born January 10, 1914 in Milwaukee and was the daughter of Charles and Katherine Ruby. She was a cosmetologist and had been employed at a couple of drug stores before retiring. Member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Koch Ruby of St. Charles, IL, three step sons, Larry Studt of Roselle, IL, James Studt of Chicago and Michael (Jane) Studt of Elgin, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Preceded by her parents, first husband George Koch in 1976, second husband Kenneth Studt in 1994, one son-in-law, Bill Ruby, one infant granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Laird Funeral Home in Elgin with Rev. Olin Sletto officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Wayne R. Ziwiski
Wayne R. Ziwiski, 38, of Hampshire died Sunday, July 27, 2003 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin. He was born August 15, 1964 in Queens, NY, the son of Robert and Carol (Staschke) Ziwiski. He married Ranae S. Behrends on April 14, 1984 in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Wayne was a graduate of Mt. Prospect High School, Class of 1982 and attended Iowa State University. He was a member of the Oddfellows, Lodge 105 in Sycamore and the Carpenters Union, Local 1185. He worked as a senior foreman for Noland Flooring Company for six years.
He is survived by his wife, Ranae; two children, Jason and Sarah; his parents, Robert and Carol Ziwiski of Huntley; one brother, David (Lynn) Ziwiski of Lake In The Hills; and five nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
His Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 31 at 11 a.m. at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Leona A. Brennan
Leona A. Brennan, 86, of Elgin, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Sherman Hospital. She was a long-term resident of Carpentersville, and most recently, a resident of Heritage Manor, Elgin, where she enjoyed Bible study and creative activities.
Leona had attended Willow Creek Community Church. She also enjoyed picnics, car rides and most of all - her large family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe, of 40 years and two daughters, Joann and Mary.
She is survived by four daughters: Shirley Soltow of Elgin, Linda Wilson of Machesney Park, Diann (Jim) Melton of Burlington and Nancy (Jim) Davis of East Dundee; four sons: Don (Linda) Orsted of Mt. Morris, Steve Orsted of Oregon, IL, Dan (Sheila) Brennan of Elgin and Scott Brennan of Elgin; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 29, 2004, from 6 to 9 PM at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin. Funeral services will follow on Friday, 10 AM at the funeral chapel with Pastor Larry Zea from the Twin Oaks Baptist Church, Sleepy Hollow, officiating. Burial will be in the Dundee Township cemetery, East.

Vernon J. Dietz
Vernon J. Dietz, 92, of Elgin, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He was born July 13, 1912 in Chicago, the son of Michael and Margarette Piper. He had been a resident of Elgin since 1954 and had been employed by IL. Tool Works before retiring. He was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army.
Member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Surviving are one daughter, Linda Redmond of Elgin; and one granddaughter, Whitney (James) Willbrandt of Irvine, CA.
preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Flora in 1991; and one sister, Margarette Klima.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, July 31 at 10:00 AM in Lakewood Memorial Park with Rev. Martin Balzer officiating. There will be no Visitation. Laird Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements. (847)741-8800.

Martha A. Martinez
Martha A. Martinez, 40 of Elgin passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2004 in her home. She was born October 1, 1963 in Mexico, the daughter of Martin and Paula Huitron Martinez. She had been a resident of Elgin for most of her life. Martha was a member of El Mesias United Methodist Church of Elgin.
Her survivors are three children, Martin Martinez of Austin, TX, Brenda J. Nevarez of Elgin, Martha Alexandria Sanchez of Elgin; her parents of Austin, TX; four sisters, Sandra Martinez of Elgin, Gloria (Jose) Calleros of Elgin, Sylvia (Eric) Martinez-Johnson of Chicago, Paula (Rodrigo) Villegas of Elgin; one brother, Jesse (Kim) Martinez of Carpentersville; her paternal grandmother, Simona Martinez of Eagle Pass, TX; and many close nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2004 at 10:00 AM at El Mesias United Methodist Church, 651 Lillie St., Elgin, with Rev. Enrique Gonzalez, officiating. Burial will be in Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be held Friday, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the church. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence Edward "Larry" Teter
Lawrence Edward "Larry" Teter, 71, of Holly Springs, MS, formerly of Elgin, died July 1 in his home.
Larry was a High Performance Engine Specialist, and an NHRA National Champion. He was the Founder of Teter Automotive and Auto Marine Engines. He was a member of the Elgin Elks, the Torquers, and the Cold Ducks. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War.
Larry is survived by his wife, Peggy; three daughters, Terri (Byron) Dalton, Tracy Teter, and Lynn (Alex) Luna; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Finis "Mike" and Grace Teter and a grandson, Brent Austin Loss.
A memorial service will be held July 31 at 2:00 p.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Church Rd., Elgin. Please join us in celebrating and honoring Larry's life. Further info, Tracy Teter (847)468-1719.

Jacob M. Williams
Jacob M. Williams, age 8 of Elgin, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2004 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. He was born June 26, 1996 in Chicago to Tyrone and Tammie Bell Williams.
He is survived by his parents, one sister, Faith; four brothers, Tyrell, Joshua, Joseph and Isaiah; his grandparents Joseph Bell, Sr. and Shirley Graves, all of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Julia in 1991.
Services will be held Friday, July 30, 2004 at 11:00 am at the Progressive Baptist Church in Elgin with Rev. Willie Tate officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 am until time of service at the church. Burial at Bluff City cemetery.

John W. "Jack" Beltz
John W. "Jack" Beltz, 65, of Mt. Vernon, IL passed away Saturday, July 28, 2001 at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
He was born December 3, 1935 in Chicago, IL, the son of Jack and Maria (Buck) Beltz.
He married Flora B. (Hatfield) on February 21, 1958. Mr. Beltz was of the Catholic faith. He was an Army veteran and a Past Commander of VFW Post #976 in Chicago.
He is survived by his son, John W. "Jack" (Christine) Beltz of Marengo, IL; two daughters, Patricia (Larry) Case of Wausau, WI and Mary (George) Heine of Carpentersville, IL; four grandchildren, Ashley, Jack, Lauren and Sarah; two brothers, Pete (Elaine) of Chicago, IL and Bill (Fran) Beltz; and two sisters, Patricia (Steve) Poyle of Canton, OH and Mary Ann Beltz of Chicago, IL.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Father Daniel Jurek officiating. Interment will be in Kingston Park cemetery with Military Rites accorded at 11 AM on Wednesday in Kingston, IL.
Visitation will be after 11 AM Tuesday until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials by be made to the American Cancer Society.
