Patricia B. "Pat" Grass
Patricia B. "Pat" Grass, 68, of Carpentersville died Friday, July 27, 2001 at the Alderwood Care Center in South Elgin. She was born in Chicago on November 21, 1932, the daughter of Herbert and Lillian (nee Phillips) Preston.
Pat has been a resident of Carpentersville since 1957. She was a member of the Carpentersville VFW #5915 Ladies Auxiliary. She was one of the founding of the Carpentersville Helping Hands. She was very active in PTA and served as a Kane County Election Judge.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard E.; a daughter, Jackie (Randy) Bartylla of South Elgin; two sons, Richard C. (Georgina) of Carpentersville and Robert (Cindy) of Kentucky; five grandchildren, Chris, Corey and Karrah Grass, James (Cristy) Lamb, III and Jason (Terina) Gehringer; two great grandsons, Joshua Lamb and Brandon Gehringer; a sister, Jane (Casey) Silewicz of California; and a brother, Robert (Helen) Preston of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter in infancy; a sister, Dorothy Cotter; and two brothers, Michael Murphy and Pete Preston.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday at 10 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be on Monday from 6 to 9 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
Evelyn C. Range
Evelyn C. Range, 96, of Elgin passed away Saturday, July 28, 2001 in the Carrington Care Center, South Elgin.
She was born June 29, 1905 in Elgin, the daughter of Charles and Clara DePew.
She had been a resident of Elgin all of her life. She had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Co. for many years before retiring.
Surviving are her daughter, Marilyn Range of South Elgin; nieces and nephews, Charles Rosene of Elgin, Dr. Paul Rosene of Lady Lake, FL, Paula Liedberg of Phoenix, AZ, Ron Range of Elgin and Carol (Wesley) Landwehr of Elgin; a sister-in-law, Nellie Range of South Elgin; and many other lifetime close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond H. Range in 1942; a sister, Dorothy Rosene; and a brother, James "Bud" DePew.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at 11 AM in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Calvary Lutheran Church, Elgin. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Dennis W. Ward, 47, of South Elgin, formerly of West Chicago, died Wednesday, July 25, 2001 in South Elgin.
Beloved son of Arthur and Kathryn nee Quain. Loving brother of Claudia Ward of Denver, CO, Stephen Ward of Gilberts, IL, and Karen (Dean) Miller of DeKalb, IL. Dear uncle of William and Kimberly Miller and Laura Ward and great uncle of Haley Miller. Fond Nephew and cousin to many. preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth.
Memorial Service Saturday, August 11, 12:30 PM at Resurrection Catholic Church, Wayne, IL. Dennis was born February 27, 1954 in Chicago, IL. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast.
Joan M. Zierer
Joan M. Zierer, 63, of Hampshire passed away suddenly Sunday, July 29, 2001 in her home.
She was born September 26, 1937 in Schaumburg, the daughter of Edmund and Dora (Krunfus) Sunderlage.
She was a 1954 graduate of Hampshire High School and married
Fredrick J. Zierer on February 5, 1956 in Hampshire. They farmed all their married
life in Hampshire Township and after Fred's death on April 20, 1993, she continued its operation. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ of Harmony, active as a 4H leader for the Hampshire Junior Farmers, a member of the Illinois EMU Association and worked as a real estate agent on behalf of Country Oaks in Hampshire and the former Brill Realty of Huntley.
Surviving are four children, Deborah (Michael) Beard of Hampshire, Doreen Zierer of Bemidji, MN, Dean Zierer of Hampshire and Denise Zierer of Hampshire; three grandsons, Damion Rylko, Brandon and Alec Zierer; six brothers, James (Dolores) Sunderlage of Woodstock, Jerry Sunderlage of Genoa, Dr. Jon (Pat) Sunderlage of Dundee, Douglas (Pat) Sunderlage of Adams, WI, Dennis Sunderlage of Hampshire and Rev. Richard (Marchia) Sunderlage of Baraboo, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Fred.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at the St. John's United Church of Christ, (Rte. 20), Harmony with Pastor Dan Kinckley officiating. Burial will be in Hampshire Center cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire and at the church on Wednesday prior to services from 10 to 11 AM.

Maria E. Garcia, 47 of Elgin passed away Monday, July 28, 2003 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was employed by Qualex, Inc., in Elgin.
Surviving are her husband, Roberto Garcia; six children, Patricia Garcia of Laredo, Texas, Sandra Garcia of Elgin, Roberto Garcia, Jr. of Elgin, Raul Garcia of West Dundee, Elsa (James) Holloway of Gainesville, Georgia, Private First Class Ruben Garcia, stationed in Korea; three grandchildren, Hunter-Riley, Hailey and Dominick-Xavier; her father in Nuevo Laredo, Texas; three brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private.
David D. Grupe
David D. Grupe, 56, of Elgin passed away Monday, July 28, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born December 1, 1946 in Elgin, the son of David W. and Vernelda Lembke Grupe. He had been a resident of Elgin all of his life. He was a graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1964. He was employed by the Kane County Dept. of Transportation for 33 years and was looking forward to his retirement years. His passion for golf led him to play at many of the local golf courses.
Surviving are his wife, Sharon Doeringsfeld Grupe whom he married
April 23, 1966, two daughters, Kirsten (Michael) Wilson of Richmond, IL, Kelli (Robert) Catini of Lake In The Hills, two grandsons, Kyle Karakas and Jacob Catini, his father, David W. Grupe of Brooksville, FL, sister Noreen (Robert) Holycross of Indiana, brother Paul (Donna) Grupe of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and brother in law, Ron Doeringsfeld.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 31 at 1:30 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ruth F. Moser
Ruth F. Moser, 98 of Elgin passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at the Apostolic Christian Resthaven Nursing Home, Elgin. She was born February, 11, 1905 in Elgin, the daughter of Daniel and Friedericka Eckert Moser. She had been a resident of Elgin all her life and had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Co. for many years before retiring in the 1960's.
She attended the Apostolic Christian Church in Elgin.
Surviving are a niece, Doris Gilliom Frauhiger of Bluffton, IN; two nephews, Robert Moser of Highland Ranch, CO, Marshall (Dolores) Schneider of West Dundee, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven sisters, Fannie, Nina, and Ida Moser, Lydia Messerscmidt, Caroline Gilliom, Esther Gram and Florence Schneider; five brothers, William, Ben, Joe, Edward and Reuben Moser; a nephew, Gerald Moser.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with the Apostolic Christian Church in charge of services. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Apostolic Christian Resthaven, Elgin.
Mary Frances (Mickey) Schnoor
Mary Frances (Mickey) Schnoor, 71 of Carpentersville died Saturday, July 26 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Elgin.
Surviving are six sons, Ray (Sue) and Ralph of Carpentersville, Leo of Belvidere, Dave (Shawn) of Hampshire, Paul (Ann) of Palatine, Phil (Dorothy) of Crystal Lake; two daughters, Jean (Mike) White and Sue Schnoor, both of Country Club Hills; sixteen grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willard; her grandson, Andrew White.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Community Funeral Home, East Dundee to St. Monica's Catholic Church, Carpentersville, for Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Dundee Township cemetery, East Dundee.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30 at Community Funeral Home.

Chester H. Shrader
Chester H. Shrader passed away on July 25, 2003 in Phoenix, AZ. Chester was born on September 7, 1941 in Matoka, WV.
Husband to Laurel Anne and father to Bill, Susie and Anita, he is survived by his wife, two daughters, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
An additional memorial service will be held at his final resting place in West Virginia.
Ann Marie Bratanick
Ann Marie Bratanick, 86, of Crystal Lake died Thursday, July 29, 2004 at her home. She was born on February 2, 1918 in Chicago to Joseph and Mary (Patti) Monticello. On May 1, 1948 she married
George Bratanick in Chicago. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting. She was loved by all her family and friends.
Survivors include her two sons, George (Susan) Bratanick of Crystal Lake and Joe (Holly) Bratanick of Woodstock; and four grandsons, Brian, Jason, Joe and Christopher Bratanick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, George in 1983.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 PM on Friday, July 30, 2004 at the Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL, 60014.

Leona A. Brennan
Leona A. Brennan, 86, of Elgin, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Sherman Hospital. She was a long-term resident of Carpentersville, and most recently, a resident of Heritage Manor, Elgin, where she enjoyed Bible study and creative activities.
Leona had attended Willow Creek Community Church. She also enjoyed picnics, car rides and most of all - her large family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe, of 40 years and two daughters, Joann and Mary.
She is survived by four daughters: Shirley Soltow of Elgin, Linda Wilson of Machesney Park, Diann (Jim) Melton of Burlington and Nancy (Jim) Davis of East Dundee; four sons: Don (Linda) Orsted of Mt. Morris, Steve Orsted of Oregon, IL, Dan (Sheila) Brennan of Elgin and Scott Brennan of Elgin; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 29, 2004, from 6 to 9 PM at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin. Funeral services will follow on Friday, 10 AM at the funeral chapel with Pastor Larry Zea from the Twin Oaks Baptist Church, Sleepy Hollow, officiating. Burial will be in the Dundee Township cemetery, East.
