Lynn Perry
Lynn Perry entered this life on September 9, 1929, and entered Life Eternal at 10:15 PM on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, University of Washington Hospital in Seattle, Washington. Lynn was born in DeKalb, IL, to Cherrie and Jack Moss. She was raised in DeKalb and graduated in the firstnursing class at Passavant Hospital, Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. She married Harold "Hal" T. Perry in 1952 and had two children, Dana Perry Tanner and Harold T. (Ty) Perry III. Lynn and Hal settled in Elgin, IL, where they lived for 44 years before moving to Florence, Oregon in 2000. Lynn worked as a Surgical Nurse at Passavant Hospital in Chicago, IL, and as a travel agent at Caravelle Travel in Elgin, IL. She was a dedicated volunteer throughout her life and served in many leadership roles as a member of the First Methodist Church of Elgin, Board of Deacons, the Junior Service Board, Fideliters, and PEO. She was also a member of the Florence Garden Club and the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw. Lynn's interests included entertaining, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She played an active role in her grandchildren's lives and especially enjoyed watching them participate in basketball, football, horseback riding and swimming. She will be remembered for her compassion, courage, humor, sense of adventure, and most of all, her deep love of family and friends.
Lynn is survived by her husband, Harold of Florence, OR; her brother, Jack Moss and his wife Phyllis of South Bend, IN; her daughter, Dana and her husband, John of Fairway, KS; her son, Ty and his wife, Karen of Florence, OR; four grandchildren, Luke and Mary Tanner of Fairway, KS and Max and Dylan Perry of Florence, OR; and eight nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 8th at 2 PM at the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw, 3996 Highway 101, Florence, OR. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, 825 Eastlake Avenue, P.O. Box 19023, Seattle, Washington, 98109 or the Florence Relay fir Life (American Cancer Society), 1155 Spruce St., Florence, OR, 97439.

Murrel D. Vinecore
Murrel D. Vinecore, 86, of Clearwater, FL passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Manor Care of Palm Harbor.
He was born in Rutland, IL and resided in Peoria, IL before moving to Florida in 1976.
He was a district manager in the insurance industry, working for Prudential Insurance Co. in Rock Island, IL.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II having been a P.O.W. in Germany for two and a half years. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Vinecore in 1980.
Murrel is survived by his wife of 59 years, Leona of Clearwater, FL; daughter-in-law, Diane Vinecore Roy of New Port Richey, FL; two daughters, Judy (Thomas) Flynn of Clearwater, FL and Penny Martin of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Virginia Weiland of Normal, IL; also surviving are nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation Friday, July 23, 2004 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with mass following at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Dunedin, FL.

Grace Jennette Dean
Grace Jennette Dean, age 92, of Richardson, Tex., passed away Friday, August 3, 2001, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on the Kenyon farm home, south of Elgin, the daughter of Grace E. (Manley) Kenyon and W.C. Kenyon. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1927 and from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa in 1931. She taught home economics in high school. She was married for 67 years to Dr. Hartzell Dean.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Donald K. Dean, of Potomac, Md.; one daughter, Janet Upchurch of Richardson, Tex.; nine grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Gifford; one brother, W. Clifford Kenyon, both of South Elgin and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Gore; four brothers, David C., John W., Warren M. and Harold L.; and two sisters, Ruth Treadwell and Frances Gussman.
Funeral services will be held at Chapel Griffin-Liggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock, Ark. on Tuesday, August 7, 2001.

Lucille L. Engstrom
Lucille L. Engstrom, 87, of Geneva, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, August 3, 2001 at the Apostolic Christian Resthaven in Elgin, Illinois.
She was born May 26, 1914 in Neillsville, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late James and Rose Milton.
Mrs. Engstrom was a member of the Geneva United Methodist Church, Star of the East #16, White Shrine of Jerusalem formerly of Batavia now in DeKalb, Illinois and Past Matron of Geneva Chapter #952 Order of Eastern Star. She was employed for several years by Gibson Dry Cleaners in Geneva.
She is survived by her two sons, Gordon (Sherry) Engstrom of Mesa, Arizona and Bruce (Linda) Engstrom of New Haven, Indiana; three sisters, Delores (Edwin) Kaspar of Bloomingdale, Illinois, Virginia Rahn of Zephyrhills, Florida and Gloria Svetlik of New Holstein, Wisconsin; and a granddaughter, Laura of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sture; two brothers, Louis and Raymond Milton; and a grandson, Donald.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, August 8, 2001 at the Yurs Wittenberg Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St. (Rte. 38), Geneva with Rev. William Obalil officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Geneva.

Helen A. Youngs
Helen A. Youngs, 91, of Elgin died Saturday, August 4, 2001 in Manor Care Health Services in Elgin.
She was born May 27, 1910 in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Alida Anderson.
She had been a resident of Elgin most of her life and had been a waitress at the Cock-O-Doodle and Milk Pail Restaurants before retiring. She had been active in Girl Scouting.
Surviving are her daughter, Shirley (Gordon) Schultz of West Dundee; seven grandchildren, Brian (Tami) Riedl of Rockford, IL, Warren (Lisa) Riedl of Elgin, Brenda (John) Gilmore of Lake Zurich, IL, Gordon Schultz, Jr. of McHenry, IL, Deanne (Richard) Weigel of Elgin, Steven Schultz of Elgin and Paul (Trecia) Schultz of Elgin; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Anderson of Excelsior, Minn; a brother, Byron Anderson of El Cajon, California; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents; her husband, Smith Parker Youngs; three sisters, Ehtel, Blanche and Gladys; and four brothers, Perry, Norman, Carl and John.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 AM in the Laird Funeral Home in Elgin to St. Laurence Catholic Church for Mass at 10 AM. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Friends may call in the funeral home on Monday from 5 to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of North Eastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager Ave., Barrington, IL, 60010.

Dorothy T. "Dottie" Dunton
Dorothy T. "Dottie" Dunton, 91 of Elgin passed away Thursday, July 31, 2003 in the Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. She was born January 18, 1912 in Lafayette, IL and was the daughter of Theodore and Ida (Jensen) Titlow. Dorothy was raised on the family farm and graduated from Toulon High School. She married M.G. "Pooch" Dunton in Rochelle, IL in 1934 and later moved with her husband and two sons to Elgin.
A devoted wife, mother, and a homemaker for most of her life, she also worked as a dental assistant and volunteer for civic organizations. Dorothy was an avid bridge player and golfer, a superb cook and a talented seamstress.
She is survived by her sons, Millard (Mimi) Dunton of Elgin, Dennis (Ruth Ann) Dunton of St. Charles, IL; six grandchildren, Suzanne (Brian) Mogler of Tempe, AZ, Andrew (Jeanne) Dunton of Seminole, FL, Elizabeth (Michael) Kallenbach and Sarah (Ryan) Fier both of Crystal Lake, Anne (Chris) Lam of Charlotte, NC, Patrick Dunton of St. Charles, IL; nine great-grandchildren, Matthew and Sarah Dunton of Seminole, FL, Joseph, Thomas and Mary Beth Kallenbach of Crystal Lake, IL, William and Mitchell Mogler of Tempe, AZ, Laura and Julie Fier of Crystal Lake, IL; her sister, Yvonne Wilson of Leaswood, KS; brothers, John Titlow of California, Jack (Jane), James (Sue) Titlow both of Kewanee, IL; brother-in-law Edward Yordy; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years in 1991; two sisters, Francis (Robert) Harns and Darlene (Edward) Yordy.
Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Rev. Andrew Hougan officiating. Burial will be private.
Memorials in her name will be used for a tree planting at Wing Park Golf Course in Elgin. Laird Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary P. Gielow
Mary P. Gielow, 78, of South Elgin passed away Sunday, August 3, 2003 at Sherman Hospital. She was born August 22, 1924 in Oak Park, IL, the daughter of James and Anna Coneau Gearen. She had been a resident of South Elgin for the past 11 years. She had been employed by Case International in Roselle for over 25 years before retiring.
Surviving are her five children, Kathleen (Michael) Kolodziej of Addison, Jeffrey (Laura) Gielow of South Elgin, Maureen (Douglas) Lee of St. Genevieve, MO, Sharon Gielow of West Dundee and James Gielow of South Elgin, six grandchildren, Elizabeth (Robert) Crowley, Rebecca (Bryan) Haag, Tricia Gielow, Barbara (Caleb) Seveik, Nathan (Megan) Lee and Nina Gielow, and two great grandchildren, Hannah and Evan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William C. Gielow on October 24, 1989 and one sister, Dorothy Gordon.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 7, at 11 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Steve Srock officiating. Burial will be in Concordia cemetery, Forest Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.

Linda Lou Parker Gordon
Linda Lou Parker Gordon, 55 of Grants Pass, OR passed away July 14, 2003 at her home. She was born August 8, 1947 in Bernie, MO, daughter of Luther and Barbara Cirrincione Parker. She lived in Elgin, graduating from beauty school. Became the first owner of the Mop Stop, then worked in catering and became owner of Curbside Cafe. Retired from catering and moved to Grants Pass, OR and received her real estate license and became a real estate broker.
Survivors include her husband Phil, one son, Adam Dunlap of WA, granddaughter Brittany Lee Ann "Grex" Garofolo of Gurnee; her parents of Elgin, three brothers, Roy Parker of Hopewell, VA, Chris Parker of Huntley, Byron Parker of Elgin, one sister, Sheila Parker (James) Ledene of Elgin, many nieces and nephews.
preceded in death by her maternal grandmother.
Private service will be held at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. Burial private. Visitation Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at Madison Funeral Home.

John H. Houghtaling
John H. Houghtaling, 86, of East Dundee, loving husband of 52 years to the late Margaret Temple Houghtaling; proud father of Michele J. of Chicago, William H. (Patricia) of Naperville, Peter B. of Austin, TX, Jamie L. (Michael) Bello of Ventura, CA, David P. of Aurora, Edward J. (Lisa) of Apple Valley, MN, Francesca A. (A.E.) Wolff of Santa Barbara, CA, and Tim C. (Patricia) of Port Washington, WI; dear grandfather of Jennifer C., Daniel W., Jeffrey M., Sara J., Leslie A., Nicholas P., Ananda M., and Peter J. Houghtaling and Kathryn L. and Matthew A. Bello.
Served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service in the South Pacific, with three patrols on the U.S.S. Seadragon, SS-194 and five patrols on U.S.S. Segundo, SS-398 capturing Japanese submarine I-401. Present in Tokyo Bay for signing of treaty ending World War II. He was an active member of Submarine Veterans of World War II and VFW Member, former parishioner of Holy Name Cathedral, St. Petronille Church, St. Thomas More and presently St. Catherine. He established Houghtaling Insurance Agency of Glen Ellyn, IL in 1947.
Visitation will be at O'Connor & Homeier Funeral Home, 364 Division St., Elgin, Wednesday 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be Thursday 1:30 p.m. at St. Thomas More Church, Elgin. Interment St. Michael cemetery, Wheaton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Chicago Daycare Headstart Program at 721 N. LaSalle St., Chicago. Vernon F. "Butch" Lang
Vernon F. "Butch" Lang, 57 of Elgin died Sunday, August 3 near Mendota as the result of an auto accident. He was born August 2, 1946 in Elgin to Vernon F. and Lois (Holtz) Lang, Sr.
Vernon was employed by the city of Elgin for over 30 years. He was an avid fisherman, boater, and loved his cabin.
He is survived by his wife, Judith A. (Gromer) Lang; a son, Vernon D. (Rebecca) Lang of Hampshire; a daughter, Shelly (Bill) Sadowski of Elgin; a brother, Charles (Cindy) Lang of Elgin; sisters, Nancy (Jerry) Morgan, Janet (Raymond) Akers and Mary Gifford all of Elgin; grandchildren, Adam J., Sean W., and William A. Sadowski, and Samantha R. Lang; his mother, Lois (Lang) Roberson; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Terry Lee.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel with Rev. Pam Poindexter of First Congregatoinal Church of Dundee officiating. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends after 4:00 p.m. on Thursday until the services at 7:30. Please omit flowers with memorials in his name to the charity of your choice.

Mary Jane Lungren
Mary Jane Lungren, 73 of Elgin passed away Saturday, August 2, 2003 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born March 10, 1930 in West Allis, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arthur and Edith Leeztow Fredericks. She had been employed by Sherwin-Williams and U.S. Can Co. in Elgin.
Surviving are her four daughters, Pamela (Edward) Davies of Cary, Cindy (Ken) Sobczak of Cary, Gail (Scott) Rust of Rolling Meadows, Angela Recklein of Woodstock; two sons, Robert (Judy) Lungren of Wauconda and Ronald (Donna) Lungren of Elgin; eleven grandchildren, Dwane, Derek, Sheri, Edward, Dawn, Jessica, Dave, Kenny, Dylan, Jeremey and Jennifer; four great grandchildren, Derek Jr., Amanda, Christopher and Michaela, three sisters, Mabel Tasnadi and Charlene Neuman both of Elgin, Carol Bergman of Dundee; four brothers, Clifford, Arthur and Harris Fredericks all of Elgin, Delbert Fredericks of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary. Memorial visitation will be held Friday from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Windridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Lung Association. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
