Deborah "Debbie" McMahon (nee McQuade)
Deborah "Debbie" (McQuade) McMahon, 35, of Elgin died Sunday, August 8, 2004 at her home. Debbie will be missed by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn; and a daughter in infancy, Amber Marie.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 16 years, Ralph; two daughters, Danielle Marie and Briana Lynn both at home; mother and father, Mary and Don McQuade of Streamwood; a sister, Donna also of Streamwood; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin from 4 to 9 PM with the funeral Thursday, 11 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Jack Palmer officiating. Ernest Rieke
Ernest Rieke, 88, of Elgin passed away Thursday, August 5, 2004 at Sherman Hospital. He was born October 2, 1915 in Barrington, the son of Fred and Lizzie Jahnke Rieke.
He moved to Elgin in 1941 where he was a farmer at heart and an avid gardener. He worked for Illinois Toolworks for over 37 years in the Tool and Die room. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Elgin.
Survivors include his daughter, Janice (Craig) Hoffman of Ft. Wayne, IN; three grandsons; five great-grandsons; one step-grandson; two sisters, Florence O'Connor of Florida and Betty (Vincent) Brady of Elgin; one brother, Leslie Rieke of Barrington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Adelia Jahnke Rieke; one sister; four brothers; and one stepdaughter.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin with Rev. Hannibal Frederich officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen cemetery, Barrington. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church or St. John's School.
Donald V. Butler
Donald V. Butler, 88, of Elgin passed away Friday, August 8, 2003 at Rosewood Care Center.
He was born January 20, 1914 in Walker, Iowa to Joseph and Alta Fox Butler.
He retired from Teamsters Union 705.
Survivors include his children, Richard D. of CA, Constance (Neil) Schwingbeck of Sleepy Hollow and Barbara Brown of WI; grandfather of four; great grandfather of ten.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen on May 17, 2003; two sisters; and a brother.
Private services will be held at Madison Funeral Home. Burial will be private in River Hills cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.

Robert J. Mahnke
Robert J. Mahnke, 73, of Gilberts, IL passed away Friday, August 8, 2003 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL.
He was born May 12, 1930 in Waterloo, IA to Reginald and Hulda (Piehl) Mahnke. Bob graduated high school in Waterloo, IA, received his B.A. from Northern Iowa State Teacher's College and his M.A. from the University of Iowa. He was a guidance counselor for 27 years at Elgin High School. Following his retirement in 1986, he devoted his full time to a partnership business in Hampshire, IL, Grass Roots Energy.
Mr. Mahnke served with the U.S. Air Force in Alaska during the Korean War. He was an avid reader and historian. As a long time active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley, IL, he was active in volunteer work, especially with the Elgin Soup Kettle and the Bethesda Resale Shop in Crystal Lake, IL.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, his greatest joy was being with his family, especially on fishing trips in northern Wisconsin. He will be forever missed.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years Marjorie (Hubbell) Mahnke; sons Timothy (Lora) Mahnke of Huntley, IL and Matthew (Elizabeth) Mahnke of West Dundee, IL, two grandchildren, the light of his life Luke and his newborn granddaughter Natalie; a sister Geraldine Mahnke of Waterloo, IA; a brother Richard (Joyce) Mahnke of DuBuque, IA and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 12, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 11008 N. Church St., Huntley with Pastor Charles W. Kittel officiating.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church and prior to services on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.

John B. Davis
John "J.B." Davis, 89, of Elgin passed away Monday, July 19, 2004 at Sherman West Court, Elgin. He was born May 26, 1915 in Chicago, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Carl B. Davis.
John had been a resident of Elgin for over 50 years. He was a graduate of Williams College in 1937. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Naval Aviator, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander, after 5 years of service. He received a degree in agriculture from the University of Illinois.
Surviving are his wife, Aline Craig Davis, whom he married
on February 1, 1943; three children, Lee (Jerry) Hron of Naperville, Merl (Mike) Pelletier of Chester, New Jersey, Susan (George) Sawicki of Superior, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Darren and Lori Hron, David, Jeannie and Jim Pellitier, Joe, Bear and Gus Sawicki.
preceded in death by his parents and one son, John B. Davis, Jr. in 1972.

Garland W. "Gary" Hunter, Jr.
Garland W. "Gary" Hunter, Jr., of Elgin passed away Monday, August 9, 2004 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born on November 10, 1955 in Flora, IL and was the son of Betty (Gabbert) and Garland W. Hunter, Sr.
Gary graduated from Elgin High School. He had worked as a carpenter for his father, Garland Hunter Construction, and drove Semi Truck for Hartwig Transit. Gary was a loving Son, Father, Brother, and Grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include three children, Alan (Denise) White of Huntley, IL, Leaha (John Tolwinski) White of Hainsville, IL, and Amy White of Elgin, IL; three grandchildren, Mariah, Elise-Marie, and Alan Hunter; his mother, Betty Hunter of Santee, CA; six brothers, George (Maria), Grant (Rosa), and Gerald (Rozalyn) Hunter, all of Elgin, Gregory (Francis) and Glenn Hunter of Santee, CA, and Garrett David (Debra) Hunter of Macomb, IL; one sister, Rebecca (Michael) Hanks of Elgin, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Garland W. Hunter, Sr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 13, 2004 in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Richard Sanders officiating at 12:00 Noon. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00-9:00 PM in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Season's Hospice.
Ralph R. Johnson
Ralph R Johnson, 74, of Carpentersville died Monday at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Chicago on May 24, 1930 to Franklin and Beatrice (nee Gallet) Johnson. Ralph was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and while in the Navy he was a Golden Glove Boxer.
He was a member of the Dundee VFW Post 2298 and a 36 year member of the I.B.E.W. Local #134.
He is survived by his wife, Alice M. (nee Kennedy); his children, Kathleen (Mike) White and Marc Anthony Johnson both of Carpentersville; three grandchildren, Stephanie White, Marc and Kelli Johnson all of Carpentersville; his sister, Joann (Bud) Johns of Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is preceded in death by his parents.

Donald F. Moss
Donald F. Moss, 82 of West Dundee died Tuesday at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born in East Dundee October 10, 1921 to Frank and Flora (nee Rewoldt) Moss. Don was a life long resident of Dundee and a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of East Dundee. He was a former 20 year employee of Craft Metal Spinning in East Dundee. Following retirement, he worked in the area as a real estate agent. He was a former member of the Dundee Lions club.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary P. (Merrill) Moss; his daughters, Carol (Dennis) Dwyer of Algonquin, Judy (John) Nelson of Williams Bay, WI; one step-daughter, Mary Gail Ford of Palatine; one step-son, Mark Merrill of Denver, CO; six grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Howard Moss of Wilmington, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lois J. (nee Frick) Moss in 1968; a grandson in infancy; step-son, Milton Merrill, Jr.; and one step-grandson, Milton Merrill, III.
Funeral Services will be Friday, August 13, 2004 at 11:00 AM in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 310 East Main Street, East Dundee, IL. The Rev. Scott Sieder will officiate. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park cemetery in Elgin. Virgil James Busto
Virgil James Busto, 74 of Elgin passed away Saturday, August 8 in his home. Virgil was born to Veto Donato and Maria (DeMao) Busto in New York on November 28, 1928. He served in the Navy from 1945 to 1947.
Virgil was an avid reader and writer who often wrote letters that appeared in the Viewpoint section of the Courier News. His pride and joy was his calico cat, Molly.
Virgil is survived by his loving wife, Connie (Dawson) Busto; his daughters, Kathy Busto, Lisa Busto and Kimmy (Busto) (Frank) Stachulak; his stepchildren, Bruce (Anne) Dahm, Terri Dahm, Laura (Dahm) (Roger) Cox; eight grandchildren, Chris Morecraftaft, Ben and Allison Dahm, Tyler and Connie Cox, Chad Busto, Misti Lynn and Cody Stachulak; his sister, Anne (Busto) Early; a brother, Frank Busto; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joseph.
A memorial service will be held at St. Laurence Church, Elgin on Thursday, August 11 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Joseph Kulak officiating.
