Joyce A. Higgs
Joyce A. Higgs, 52 of Elgin died Sunday, August 10 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. She was born June 5, 1951 in Charleston, Missouri to C.B. and Helen (Williams) McCarthy.
She had been employed at the Grand Victoria as a telephone operator. She was a member of Spates Temple and Bethesda Church of God and Christ in Elgin.
Survivors include her mother, Helen McCarthy of Elgin; two sons, Shamekin (Robin) Higgs and Clarence McCarthy; two daughters, Taniqua McCarthy and Helen McCarthy, both of Elgin; four brothers, Charles (Jane) McCarthy of Poplar Grove, IL, David Allen of Elgin, Clarence (Stacey) McCarthy of Rockford and Frank Coley of Oklahoma; four sisters, Gloria (Nathaniel) Tomlin of Elgin, Eva (Al) Harris of Allen, TX, Annette (Alan) Kuykendall of Atlanta, GA, and Diane (Herbert) Evans of Aurora; her god-daughter, Robin Stevens; three grandchildren, Giovanni, Trevell, and Makaya.
She was preceded in death by her father and her son, Shahawn.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 14 at Bethesda Church of God and Christ, 454 Hickory St. Pastor James Marks of Bethesda Church of God and Christ will officiate. Burial will take place at Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. at the church until the time for the services at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her family. Arrangements by Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel.

Grace Dorothy Luhman
Grace Dorothy Luhman, infant daughter of Matthew & Kimberly Luhman, left this earth on Monday to be held in the comforting arms of Jesus her Savior.
She was born July 9, 2003 in Hoffman Estates.
Grace is survived by her parents, Matthew and Kimberly Luhman of Elgin; her brother, Eric; her maternal grandfather, James Adamson of St. Charles; her paternal grandparents, Allan and Vickie Luhman of Manteno, IL.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Adamson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 15 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1244 W. Army Trail Road, Carol Stream IL. Rev. Andrew Koschmann officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at church. Burial will be in North cemetery, St. Charles. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family who will be establishing a fund in Grace's memory. Arrangements were made by the Yurs Funeral Home St. Charles. 630-584-0060

Marie Elizabeth Dorsey
Marie Elizabeth Dorsey, 70 of Elgin died Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at her home.
Marie was preceded in death by her father, Fred Carson; one son, LaGusta (Sonny) Carson; and one grandson, Lonnie Curry.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mitchell; and her mother, Mary Carson of Earle, AR; five sons, Fred (Mary) Dunigan, LA (Darlene) Dunigan, Alonzo Dorsey; Arthur Lee (Linda) Dorsey; and Michael Dorsey, All of Elgin; two daughters, Patsy Dunigan and Marie (Lloyd) Dorsey, both of Elgin; five brothers, Lonnie and Fred Carson, both of Florida, Charles and Morris Carson, both of St. Louis, MO; and L.C. Carson of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Maxine Carson and Bernadine Dorsey, both of St. Louis, and Catherine Williams of West Memphis, AR; 24 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marie is also survived by her special first grandchild, Jean Bush, and a special "talking buddy", Billy Bush.
Visitation will be Friday, August 13, 2004 at the O'Connor - Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin from 4:00, until 9:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at the Bethesda Church of God in Christ, 454 Hickory Place, Elgin at 11:00 AM, with Elder Carl Clement, officiating. Burial will follow at Bluff City cemetery.

Frank D. Volk
Frank D. Volk, 59, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2004 in his home. He was born August 13, 1944 in Cooperstown, IL and was the son of Mathias and Mary Keltz Volk. HE had been a resident of Elgin since 1967 and was a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years and most recently employed by Ryan Inc. for the past 15 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Army. He was surrounded in death by his wife and daughter after four months battling cancer. He left us too soon. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin, 40 year member of the Operating Engineers Local 150 and member of the American Legion Post #57 of Elgin.
Survivors include his wife Mary, whom he married on September 12, 1970, three daughters, Lisa (Scott) Orkfritz of Sycamore, IL, Michelle (Frank) Mannarino of Algonquin, IL, and Rebecca Volk of Chicago, IL, five grandchildren, Emilie, Alexis and Nick Orkfritz and Francesca and Danny Mannarino, four sisters, Sister Mary Samuella O.P. of Springfield, IL, Ag (Robert) Patterson of Springfield, IL, Therese (Robert) Frazier of Pittsfield, IL, and Catherine Shelts of Quincy, IL, three brothers, Robert (Pinky) Volk of Mt. Sterling, IL, James (Pat) Volk of Mt. Sterling, IL and Lawrence (Jennifer) Volk of Mt. Sterling, IL and best friends Ken and Marilee Crooks of Golden, IL.
preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Richard Volk and one sister, Shirley Langan.
Funeral mass will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elgin. Burial will be in Prairie cemetery, St. Charles. Visitation will be in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin on Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and then on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of the Mass. Memorials may be given to St. Jude's Hospital.

Sonja M. Cerasa
Sonja M. Cerasa, 64, of Byron, Ill, formerly of Elgin, passed away Monday, August 12, 2002, in her home. She was born February 28, 1938, in Elgin, the daughter of Froilan and Hazel Bremmer Aguiniga Sr.
She had been a resident of Elgin most of her life before moving to Byron in October 1994. She was a stay-at-home mother and after raising her family, she was employed as a Certified Cardiovascular Technician at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin for 15 years before retiring in 1992. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed antiqueing and working in her garden and loved taking care of her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph Cerasa Jr., whom she married on April 7, 1956; two sons, Mark (Julie) Cerasa of Byron and Daniel Cerasa (Melody Polomik) of Crystal Lake; three grandchildren, Matthew, David and Brandon; six sisters, Marion Vera of Aurora, Luisa (Louis) Ermel of Elgin, Gloria (Wesley) Slininger of Elgin, Loretta (Frank) Siete of Poplar Grove, Ill., Delores (Richard) Nelson of Hampshire and Anita (Glen) Bedoe of South Elgin; two brothers, LaVerne Plote of Wisconsin and Fred Aguiniga of Genoa; many nieces and nephews, father-in-law, Joseph Cerasa Sr. of Rockford; brother-in-law Peter (Sue) Cerasa of Leech Lake, Minn.; sister-in-law, Mary Jane McGinley of Aurora and her dog, "baby boy", Laddie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Froilan "Butch" Aguiniga Jr. in 1993.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, to St. Joseph Catholic Church for Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Memorials may be given to Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin, in her name.

Teresa A. Costley
Teresa A. Costley, 39, of Carpentersville died Saturday, August 10, 2002 at the Manorcare Health Center, Elgin. She was born in Carpentersville on March 28, 1963. She was the daughter of Lawrence J. & Mary B. (nee Schriener) Costley.
Teresa was a life long resident of the Carpentersville area, a 1982 graduate of Irving Crown High School and a member of St. Monica Church of Carpentersville. She was employed by NTN Manufacturing of Elgin.
She is survived by four brothers, Robert (Janice) of Tennessee, Daniel (Linda) and Larry, Jr. both of Carpentersville and Patrick of Algonquin and a sister, Marilyn (Terrance) Mattingly of Marengo. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the Miller Fuenral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Anna June Donahue
Anna June Donahue, 81 of Chicago, formerly of Elgin, died Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at the St. Joseph Hospital, Chicago. She was born in Chicago on June 18, 1921. She was the daughter of Charles and Nellie (nee Coppola) Madden. She was a former many year resident of Elgin and a long time member of St. Laurence Church of Elgin.
She is survived by four children, Geraldine (Leo) Schewe of West Dundee, Robert Donahue, Jr. of Virginia, Charles Donahue of Chicago and Joyce Crandall of Elgin; seven grandchildren, Michael Schewe, Shaun (Marie) Crandall, Christine (Chuck) Chorba, Diane (Scott) Siers, Robin Nestor, Pricilla Donahue and Robert Donahue III; great-grandmother of six; two brothers, Charles Madden and Thomas Madden, both of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert C. Donahue; two sons, Thomas and Michael; and a brother, James Reid.
Funeral Mass will be on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the river Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Saturday in the Church form 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Edward M. Dalluege,
Edward M. Dalluege, 86, of Elgin, passed away Monday in his home. He was born June 6, 1916 in Melrose Park, IL and was the son of Ernest and Alma Dalluege. Edward was a Veteran having served in US Navy during W.W.II. He had worked for Flexonics in Bartlett for 40 years prior to his retirement. Edward loved to play Golf, and was a Semi Finalist in the Over 50 Division of the 1970 Elgin City Golf Tournament. 32 Degree Mason and Lifetime member of the Old Glory Lodge # 141 A.F. & A.M. of Westerchester, IL. Lifetime member of the VFW Lodge # 2193 of Maywood, IL
Survivors include his wife; Bernice of Elgin, daughter; Diane (Ronald) Cook of Hot Springs, AK, 3 grandchildren; Chad and Heather Cook, and Allison Dalluege; his brother; Kenneth (Doris) Dalluege of TN, his sister; Virginia O'Brien of Wheaton, IL, 3 step children; Marc (Jane) Barnhart of Leland, IL, Carla (Michael) Bradley of GA, Scott (Barbara) Barnhart of Elgin: 6 step grandchildren; Abigail, Brock, Asliegh, Hannah, and Caitlin.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:30 A.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in river Valley Memorial Gardens, west Dundee, Il. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8:00 P.M. in the Funeral Home. Omission of flowers is requested, with memorials may be to the Provena St. Joseph Hospital Foundation, 87 N. Airlite St., Elgin, IL.

Robert J. Douglas
Robert J. Douglas, 79 of Hampshire former many year resident of Carpentersville died Tuesday at Delnor Hospital, Geneva.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA., on May 17, 1923. He was a resident of the Carpentersville and Hampshire areas for 50 years. He was a former Postal Investigator with the United States Post Office. He was a W.W. II Army Veteran and a member of Carpentersville VFW #5915.
He is survived by his long time friend and companion: Dorothy Herrmann of Hampshire, two daughters: Diane Ganow of Mondovi, WI., and Dorothy Douglas of Genoa, IL., three grandchildren: Robby (Connie) Ganow of Plato Center, Dawn Risler of Mondovi, WI., and Heather (Robert) Dick of South Elgin. Eight great-grandchildren: Kayla, Cassy, Brittany, Whitney, Andrew, Dylan, Jordan and Sydney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Mildred in 1972, one son: Edward, two daughters in infancy, one brother: Edward, one sister: Margaret "Dolly" Gibson.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, August 16, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 - 9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Grace Irene Hegyi
Grace Irene Hegyi, 83, of Oak Lawn, died Tuesday, August 13 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born September 17, 1918 in Harvard to Pauline and Joseph Dziewior. She married Frank Julius Hegyi on June 28, 1941. She was a loving wife and mom. Survived by her husband of Oak Lawn; three children, Douglas F. (Diane) Hegyi of Michigan, Gregory J. (Darlene) Hegyi of Indiana, JoAnn P. Underwood of Algonquin; six grandchildren, Justin and Jeffrey Hegyi, Christine and Andrea Hegyi, Jason and Corinne Kantor; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Dziewior of Elgin and Ernest Dziewior of East Dundee.
Proceeding her in death were her parents; five brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be held at Laird's Funeral Home.

Rose M. Giertz
Rose M. Giertz, 91, of Elgin passed away Thursday, July 25, 2002 at the Apostolic Christian Resthaven Nursing Home. She was born January 21, 1911 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Mary Sokody. She had been a resident of Elgin for most of her life.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Elgin, Matheans, the Lutheran Church Women, the Little Garden Club, the Elgin Womens Club and PI XI IOTA Sorority.
Surviving are her daughter, Luann (Earl) Lamp of Elgin; a son, Dennis Giertz of St. Charles; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther B. Giertz; a brother, Paul Sokody; a sister, Elizabeth Watzlawick and a nephew, Phil Sokody.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 17 at 12:00 NOON at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 Division St., Elgin with Rev. Olin Sletto officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services in the church. Memorials may be given to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Harry Elliott McCloud
Harry Elliott McCloud, age 79, a resident of Redding, California for the past two years, and a former longtime resident of the Fox Lake, IL area, died Friday, August 9, 2002 at the Redding Medical Center in California.
He was born on December 9, 1922 in North Plato, IL to Cinton and Clara (nee Elliott) McCloud. He was a cabinet maker and countertop designer and installer, and had been employed for many years with Chain Of Lakes Floor Covering in Long Lake. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 250 of Chicago, and a former member of the Harvard, IL Moose Lodge, and had enjoyed dancing, woodworking and remodeling.
Survived by his wife, Dorte (nee Smith) McCloud of Redding, CA; one son, Kenneth McCloud of Lake In The Hills, IL; one daughter, Sue Grant of Paddock Lake, WI; four grandchildren, Brandon and Shawn Walters, and Dawn and Michael McCloud; one brother, Warren McCloud; two sisters, Helen Koch and Eloise Tinberg, all of Wonder Lake, IL; two step-daughters, Linnea (William) Wiemer of Shingletown, CA and Darmae "Melody" (Major Bruce) Stalk of Puyallup, Washington. Step grandchildren and other relatives also survive.
He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Sharon McCloud.
Friends of the family may call on Thursday, August 15, 2002 from 4-8 p.m. at the K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lk. Rd., Fox Lake, IL (The Chapel On The Lake) where funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will follow at the Ohio Grove cemetery, near Sycamore, IL.
Memorials for the American Cancer Society will be appreciated by the family.
