Bertha L. Danielson
Bertha L. Danielson, 90, of Geneva, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001 in the Apostolic Christian Resthaven, Elgin.
She was born Oct. 16, 1910 in St. Charles, the daughter of the late Martin and Signe Anderson.
She was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Geneva.
Survivors include her three children, James of Portland, Ore., Andrea (Barry) Danielson of Elgin and Theodore of Geneva; three grandchildren, Richard "Rick" Danielson of Montgomery Creek, Calif., Deborah (Darrell) Walker of Spring Grove, Ill. and Julie Danielson of St. Charles; and two sisters, Elsie Anderson of St. Charles and Margaret (Julius)Wynthein of Arlington, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gideon R. Danielson, whom she married
in 1940; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday in the Yurs-Wittenberg Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St. (Rt. 38), Geneva, Dr. Brian Coffey officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Geneva.
Visitation will be 1 p.m., Saturday until the time of services in the funeral home.

Lee E. Dillenbeck
Lee E. Dillenbeck, 81, of Elgin, died Saturday, August 11, 2001.
He was born July 24, 1920 in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, the son of Salathiel and Lena (Eger) Dillenbeck.
He served in the Air Force as a B-52 radar operator on missions over Germany, having enlisted after Pearl Harbor. Returning to Elmhurst College after the war, he received his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, and as a civilian employee of Westinghouse in the early 1950's, he helped develop the nuclear submarines Nautilus and Skipjack under Admiral Rickover. He had been a resident of Elgin since 1968, and taught at Elgin Community College for more than twenty years, where he was known by many in the community as a devoted, effective, and energetic real estate instructor.
Survivors include his beloved sister, Madeline of Elgin; his longtime friend, Margaret Muntz of Elgin; his daughter, Amy (Scott Palsce) Henne of Albuquerque, NM; his sons, Thomas (Mary) of Santa Cruz, CA and David of Elgin; his grandson, Peter Henne of Portland, OR; and his nieces, Julie (Keith Dahl) Gordon of St. Paul, MN and Judy "Jaye" (Ed Jones) Gordon of Oak Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Thomas Concidine, and his second son, Peter.
A short memorial service, followed by a memorial visitation, will be held 2-6 p.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin.

Paul Frank
Age 66, August 11, 2001. Formerly of Elgin, resided in Spring Green, WI with his wife Nancy.
He worked for Sears Roebuck Co. for 10 years and ran his own appliance repair business in Spring Green.
Dorothy "Betty" Hollingworth
Dorothy "Betty" Hollingworth, 82, ofGalena, Ill., died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001 in Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe, Wis.
She was born Jan. 6, 1919 in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Ross and Cora Rohles Davis.
She was married
to Fred Hollingworth on Sept. 5, 1942 in Elgin. After raising her children she taught school for 16 years in Wheaton, Ill. She was an artist and won many awards for her artwork. She was proud of her accomplishments. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Survivors include her husband, Fred; a daughter, Betty (Tom) Forster of Manitowish, Wis.; three sons, Fred (Suzanne) Hollingworth of Galena, Phillip (Mary) Hollingworth of Saginaw, Mich. and Steve (Ann) Hollingworth of Colombo, Sri Lanka; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday in the Steinke Funeral Home, Galena. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery, Galena.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.
William M. Moore
William M. Moore, 64, of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
He was born May 27, 1937 in Ripley, TN and was the son of George and Winnie Moore. William was employed at Elgin Corrugated Box.
Survivors include Wife Martha Moore of Elgin; three children, Donnie (Shelly) Fowler of Elgin; Linda (Russell) Wilson of Elgin; Danny Moore of Burlington, IL; ten Grandchildren; and many close family and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10:00 A.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-9:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Missionary Baptist Church, 385 Silver, Elgin, IL. 60123.
Garry S. Sportsman
Garry S. Sportsman, 51, of St. Charles, Illinois passed away Sunday, August 12, 2001 at his home. He was born August 17, 1949 in Elgin, Illinois.
During the Viet Nam era, he received the Bronze Star while serving with the U.S. Army. Mr. Sportsman attended the Country Covenant Church in rural Elgin.
Gary was employed for the past 8 years by the Chronicle Publishing Co. in Geneva, Illinois.
Surviving are his wife, Charlene L; his father, Clyde and stepmother, Lois of Crystal Lake, Illinois; Four brothers, Wayne of Appleton, Wisconsin, Roger of Lombard, Illinois, Keith (Diana) of Sleepy Hollow, Illinois and Kevin (Linda) of Elgin, Illinois; two stepsisters, Debra (Jeff) O'Reilly of Denver, Colorado and Barbara (Kraig) Knippschild of Lake in the Hills, Illinois; his mother in law, Arlene Bagg of Hampshire, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Doris Sportsman; one stepbrother, Richard Duchossois and his father in law George Bagg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, August 16, 2001 in the Yurs Wittenberg Funeral Home, 1771 W. State St. (Rte. 38), Geneva. Rev. Larry Diekman and Rev. Roy E. Olson will officiate. Burial will be in the Lily Lake cemetery, Lily Lake, Illinois.

G. Paul Wons Jr.
G. Paul Wons Jr., age 62 of Carpentersville passed away Monday, August 13, 2001 in his home. He was born August 27, 1938 in Chicago the son of Giovanni and Helen Wons Sr. He had been a resident of Carpentersville for the past 29 years. He had been employed by Harig Products for over 30 years before retiring.
Surviving are his wife-Diane Riseley Wons whom he married
on Sept. 26, 1969; Six children, Joan (Mark) Paul of Alaska, Chuck Steinhebel of Colorado, Julie Ehrhardt of Arizona, John (Tamara) Wons of Arizona, Sharisa (Steve) Godinsky of Elgin, Paul (Julie) Wons of Elgin; 15 grandchildren; One sister, Marcia (Mike) Ottmar of Wisconsin; four brothers, Robert (Jane) Wons of Wisconsin, Kenneth (Nancy) Wons of Plainfield, Rick (Rita) Wons of Virginia, Doug (Darice) Wons of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister in infancy.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7:30pm in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00pm until time of services in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family.
Anna June Donahue
Anna June Donahue, 81 of Chicago, formerly of Elgin, died Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at the St. Joseph Hospital, Chicago. She was born in Chicago on June 18, 1921. She was the daughter of Charles and Nellie (nee Coppola) Madden. She was a former many year resident of Elgin and a long time member of St. Laurence Church of Elgin.
She is survived by four children, Geraldine (Leo) Schewe of West Dundee, Robert Donahue, Jr. of Virginia, Charles Donahue of Chicago and Joyce Crandall of Elgin; seven grandchildren, Michael Schewe, Shaun (Marie) Crandall, Christine (Chuck) Chorba, Diane (Scott) Siers, Robin Nestor, Pricilla Donahue and Robert Donahue III; great-grandmother of six; two brothers, Charles Madden and Thomas Madden, both of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert C. Donahue; two sons, Thomas and Michael; and a brother, James Reid.
Funeral Mass will be on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the river Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Saturday in the Church form 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Rose M. Giertz
Rose M. Giertz, 91, of Elgin passed away Thursday, July 25, 2002 at the Apostolic Christian Resthaven Nursing Home. She was born January 21, 1911 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Mary Sokody. She had been a resident of Elgin for most of her life.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Elgin, Matheans, the Lutheran Church Women, the Little Garden Club, the Elgin Womens Club and PI XI IOTA Sorority.
Surviving are her daughter, Luann (Earl) Lamp of Elgin; a son, Dennis Giertz of St. Charles; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther B. Giertz; a brother, Paul Sokody; a sister, Elizabeth Watzlawick and a nephew, Phil Sokody.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 17 at 12:00 NOON at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 Division St., Elgin with Rev. Olin Sletto officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services in the church. Memorials may be given to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
Grace Irene Hegyi
Grace Irene Hegyi, 83, of Oak Lawn, died Tuesday, August 13 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born September 17, 1918 in Harvard to Pauline and Joseph Dziewior. She married
Frank Julius Hegyi on June 28, 1941. She was a loving wife and mom. Survived by her husband of Oak Lawn; three children, Douglas F. (Diane) Hegyi of Michigan, Gregory J. (Darlene) Hegyi of Indiana, JoAnn P. Underwood of Algonquin; six grandchildren, Justin and Jeffrey Hegyi, Christine and Andrea Hegyi, Jason and Corinne Kantor; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Dziewior of Elgin and Ernest Dziewior of East Dundee.
Proceeding her in death were her parents; five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Mass at St. Mary's, Fulton and Gifford Streets in Elgin at 9:30 a.m. today.
Barbara J. Koch
Barbara J. Koch, 41, of Elgin, died Wednesday, August 14, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born January 13, 1961, in Elgin, to Joseph and Helen (Real) Koch.
A lifetime resident of Elgin, Barb was a 1979 graduate of Larkin High School.
She was employed by the Elgin Police Department for more than 20 years and was a member of the Owls Club.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elgin.
Barb was known for the joy she took in life, for her sense of humor, the warmth she shared with friends and the love she gave all in her family. She was an organizer of family gatherings and vacations and a loving, generous aunt to her nieces and nephews, taking them on far-away trips and close-to-home adventures. She took delight in giving great gifts on Christmas and birthdays - and for no reason at all.
Barb is survived by her mother, Helen; two brothers, Thomas (Debbie) Koch of Elgin and William (Inger) Koch of DeKalb; four sisters, Kathy (John) Russell of Aurora, Peggy Koch of Elgin, Ginny (Ron) Horan of Elgin and Mary (Tony) Edwards of Rockford; six nieces and five nephews, Erin, RJ and Maureen Horan, Stacie and Hollie Edwards, Jennifer and Maggie Koch, Theron Koch and Jay, Ted and Michael Russell; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph, on February 1, 1973 and a brother, Joseph in infancy.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 15 at the Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Home, 51 Center St., Elgin. Please omit flowers.
The funeral will be at noon, Friday, August 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elgin. The Rev. David Huber will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.
