John D. Michael
John D. Michael, 82 of Elgin passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at his home. He was born November 14, 1921 in Chicago, the son of Lester and Elizabeth (Dodson) Michael.
Survivors include two children, Paul (Linda) Michael of Elgin, William (Lisa) of Iowa; six grandchildren, Timothy and Nicole Michael of Elgin, Desiree and Christina Michael, Danny White all of Elgin, Garry White of TX; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Michael and Nathaniel Knaak.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Patricia in 1995.
Private family services will be held.

Dr. Michael P. Roche
Dr. Michael P. Roche, age 65, of Geneva passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at his home. He was born September 4, 1937 in Chicago, IL, the son of Martin and Mary Louise (Jones) Roche.
Dr. Roche earned his BA in 1959 from St. Mary's University in Minnesota, his MA in 1963 also from St. Mary's, his second MA from St. Thomas University in Minnesota and his Doctorate of Education in 1973 from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. He had worked for many years as a school psychologist in school district U46. He had a great love for dancing and was an avid reader, master of trivia and was a die hard Notre Dame fan. His desire for excellence in all that he did inspired many. His love was unconditional.
He is survived by his wife Amelia (Guerrero), son Erin (Paula) Roche of Chicago and his daughter Mikayla (Liangzi) Tian-Roche of China; grandchild Julian Tian-Roche and expecting another grandchild; two sisters Patricia (Joe) Dahl of Tinley Park and Virginia Beaulieu of Petaluma, CA and his brother Robert (Pat) Roche of Georgia. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Martin Roche.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 23, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. at the Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St. (Rt. 38) Geneva proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Rd., Geneva for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Father Akan Simon celebrant. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held Friday, August 22 from 4-8 p.m. at the Malone Funeral Home Geneva.

Sandra L. Roecker
Sandra L. Roecker, 57 of Melbourne, FL passed away Monday, August 18, 2003 at Brevard Hospice Care Center in Rockledge, FL. She was born November 15, 1945 in Elgin, IL, the daughter of Marvin and Lora (Evitts) Schultz.
She was employed by Rockwell Collins.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Floyd F. Roecker of Melbourne, FL; her mother, Lora Smith of Elgin, IL; two sons, Mark Roecker of Melbourne, FL and Troy Roecker of Palm Bay, FL; a daughter, Lori Roecker of Melbourne, FL; a sister, Patricia Koch of Elgin, IL; six grandchildren, Brittany, Mariaya, Adrianna, Tylor, Madison, Amanda.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Schultz and a brother, Dennis Schultz.
A memorial service is planned for Thursday, August 21, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at South Brevard Funeral Home, 1001 S. Hickory St., Melbourne, FL. Memorials may be made to Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice & Palliative Care, 8060 Spyglass Hill Rd., Viera, FL 32940.
George D. Dipper
George D. Dipper, 73, of Elgin died Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Sherman Hospital.
George proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was retired from the Illinois State Police where he worked for 30 years, he has also worked for Elgin Synagogue, Kneseth Israel for over 30 years, and he was a member of the American Legion Post #57. He was a member of Unity Church of Crystal Lake. George was also currently volunteering at the Elgin Senior Center.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Faye Dipper; and a brother-in-law, G.A. Clark.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 wonderful years, Ethel; three step daughters, Jean Denk and Vickie Born, both of Elgin and Renee Ferguson of Houston, TX; a step son, Anthony (Barbara) Lopez of Elgin; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Irma Clark of Decatur, Illinois; and three nieces.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 22, 2004 from 4 until 9 PM at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin with funeral services Monday at 10 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Thomas Wendt officiating. Ernestine Foster
Ernestine Foster, 83, of Elgin passed away Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born December 18, 1920 in Ripley, Tennessee. She had been a resident of Elgin for over 50 years and had been employed as a Nurses Aid at the Elgin Mental Health Care Center, Elgin before retiring. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Elgin.
Surviving are her husband, Henry L. Foster; two step children, Curtis (Kaye) Foster of Davenport, Iowa and Kerri Foster of Knoxville, TN; four step grandchildren; her god daughter, Delores Lord; and a host of many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 23, 2004 at 11 AM at Second Baptist Church, 1280 Summit St., Elgin. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Monday from 9 AM until 11 AM in the church. Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
Victoria Wing Hesse
Victoria Wing Hesse, 56, of Elgin passed away Thursday, August 19, 2004 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital after a brief illness. She was born October 11, 1947 in Elgin, the daughter of Aubrey and Dorothy Biggar Hesse. She was a life long resident of Elgin. She was a member of St. Hugh of Lincoln Episcopal Church, Provena St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, Elgin Women's Club, the Elgin Historical Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are cousins, Elizabeth Kreinbrink, Margaret Callahan, Kathleen Schmeling of Wisconsin, Stuart Busse, Jr. of Michigan, Charles Hesse of Ohio and John Busse of Elgin; and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 PM in St. Hugh of Lincoln Episcopal Church, corner of Highland Ave and Randall Rd. in Elgin with Fr. Tom Atamian officiating. Burial will be in Udina cemetery. Visitation will be in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM and then on Monday at the church from 12 Noon until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Hugh of Lincoln Episcopal Church.
James M. "Jim" Meyer
James M. "Jim" Meyer, 54, of Elgin passed away Monday, August 20, 2001 in his home.
He was born May 16, 1947 in Elgin, the son of Wesley and Charlotte Wolff Meyer.
He graduated from Elgin High School in 1965. He was a veteran, having served in the Army in Germany. He was employed by Komatsu Utility Corporation. He was a member and Past President of the Izaak Walton League, the Sycamore Sportsman Club, an associate member of Sybaquay Girl Scout Council and a member of the Association of Individual Development.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Gerene (Johnson) Meyer; a daughter, Elyse Meyer of Aurora, IL; a son, Ryan (Stephanie) Meyer of Union, IL; his parents of Elgin; a sister, Joanne Meyer of Arizona; mother-in-law, Dorene Johnson of Elgin; a brother-in-law, Doren (Pamela) Johnson of Davis Junction, IL; and several nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grand parents; and his father-in-law, Gerald E. Johnson.
Funeral Services and interment will be private. There will be no visitation.
Laird Funeral Home in Elgin is in charge of services.

Michael L. Miller, age 47 of Elgin passed away Monday, August 20, 2001 in his home.
He was born August 11, 1954 in Elgin, the son of Jarrett and Diane Hecht Miller.
He had been a resident of Elgin all his life and was a graduate of Larkin High School in 1972. He was employed by Dana Molded Products in Arlington Heights as Production Control Manager. He was a veteran serving in the Air Force and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Valann Bazsali Miller whom he married
August 13, 2000; a daughter, Tricia Miller of Elgin; mother, Diane Muller of Farmers Branch, TX; father Jarrett (Diane) Miller of Elgin; two sisters, Helene (Fred) Tinkler of Broken Arrow, OK, Sarah (Matthew) Parker of Chicago; four brothers Warren (Lorie) Miller of Phoenix, AZ, Abraham (Heidi) Miller of Oak, IL, Justin Miller of Elgin, Matthew (Sue) Walsh of Elgin, step daughter, Arian Turner of Chicago and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Elgin with Rev. Steve Kottke officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church, Elgin.
Raymond G. "Ted" Sabin
Raymond G. "Ted" Sabin, 89, of Hampshire, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at the DeKalb Co. Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in DeKalb.
He was born June 10, 1912 in Sycamore the son of Harry and Sarah (Astling) Sabin. Ted married
Viola M. Greve on June 10, 1939 in Hampshire and they famed in rural Hampshire all their married
life. Mr. sabin had also been employed by the J.H. Patterson Lumber CO. in Hampshire and at Barker's Lumber Yard in Genoa.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Genoa, the DeKalb Co. Farm Bureau, and the Hampshire Sportsman Club for whom he raised pheasant and quail.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years Viola, a son Raymond (Lois) Sabin of Hampshire, three grandchildren, Cynthia Sabin of Lake in the Hills, Gary (Dora) Sabin of Necedah, WI, Kimberly (Ron) Pritchett of Mt. Zion, IL; three step grandchildren, John Sevey of Pensburg, PA, Nancy Wilson of Schaumburg, Dawn Tart of Elizabethtown, NC; four great grandchildren, nine step great-grandchildren, three step great-great grandchildren, special family friends, Ray and Mary Zuberbier and family of Burlington, a brother, Robert Sabin of Sycamore, two sisters, Ruth Freeman of DeKalb and Gladys (Jim) Schneider of Watertown, WI and three sisters-in-law Charlotte Sabin of Sycamore, Jeanette Sabin of Crystal Lake, and Helen Sabin of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Duane, brothers Lawrence, Harold, George, Fred, Norman and Charles Sabin and a sister Marion Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Friday, August 24, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 33930 N. State Rd., Genoa with the Rev. W.E. Duey and the Rev. Harold Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Hampshire Center cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire and at the Church prior to services on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m.
Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Genoa, the SOS (Strength of Savior) Foundation of Milwaukee or to the DeKalb Co. Nursing Home.
Mary Ann E. Starks
Mary Ann E. Starks, 68, of Elgin passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2001 in Sherman West Court, Elgin.
She was born July 17, 1933 in Elgin, the daughter of Alex and Elizabeth(Gondos) Torok.
She was a resident of Elgin all of her life and was employed at Sherman Hospital as the Chief Cook for 27 years prior to her retirement. Mary Ann loved Gardening, Cooking and enjoyed taking care of the elderly. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Elgin.
Survivors include her husband, Alfred "Bud" Starks of Elgin; two brothers, Ronald Torok of McHenry and Roland (Barbara) Torok and their children, Michael and Marie of Kingston; and many close family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Torok.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, the Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in Starks cemetery, Starks, Ill.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home.
