Theodore Bieniek
Theodore Bieniek, 86, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday in his home. He was born May 29, 1916 in Chicago, IL, and was the son of Louis and Agnes (Rogola) Bieniek. Resident of Elgin for 38 years, Theodore had worked for the Milwaukee Railroad as a Conductor for 44 years prior to his retirement.
Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin.
Survivors include one daughter, Judith Allison of Elgin; five grandchildren, Rebecca (Kurt) Albeck of Elgin, Cheryl (James) Trigger of Poplar Grove, IL, Wendy (Clark) Mansur of Rockford, IL, Troy Allison of Chicago, IL, and Cindy Allison of Carpentersville, IL; four great grandchildren, Nathan, Mary, Karra, and Andre.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 26, 2002 at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin, with Rev. Edward Seisser officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, and on Monday in the church starting at 10:00 A.M. until the time of services in the church.
Susan M. Chiapetto
Susan M. Chiapetto, age 47, of Fresno, California, formerly of Elgin, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2002. She was born May 28, 1955 in Elgin to Eugene and Josephine (Roach) Peters.
She was a registered nurse retiring from the Veteran Hospital in Fresno, California after many years of service.
She is survived by two sons, David A. Johnson of South Elgin and Mark C. Chiapetto of Elgin; one brother, Eugene C. "Pete" Peters of Sacramento, California; one sister, Kathy L. (Gary) Jurs of Sycamore, IL and one grandson, Brett A. Quarrie of Elgin.

Lucille W. Funk
Lucille W. Funk, 84 of Elgin passed away Wednesday, August 21 in Heritage Manor in Elgin. She was born July 3, 1918 in Gilberts and was the daughter of Charles and Augusta Meuser Bargholz. Resident of Elgin most of her life and had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Co., McGraw Edison and then the Elgin Senior Service Center - Green Thumb before retiring.
Member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Member of Women of the Moose Lodge of Elgin.
Surviving, one sister, Alice Palm of Elgin, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Mabel Beck, Dorothy Richoz, Florence Dickhaut, Jeanette Bargholz and Rose Bargholz in infancy, four brothers - Harold, Ervin, Gardner "Buck" and Wilburn "Stubby" Bargholz.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home in Elgin with Rev. Olin Sletto officiating. Burial will be in Dundee Township East cemetery. Harold E. Radde
Harold E. Radde, 90, of Athens, Georgia, formerly a longtime resident of Hampshire, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2002 in Athens.
He was born April 4, 1912 in Rutland Township. the son of Albert and Martha (Budnick) Radde. Harold married
Ruth E. Waidman on July 15, 1939 in Elgin and they resided in Hampshire for many years before moving to Georgia to be near their son. Mr. Radde was a carpenter and a longtime member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
Surviving are his wife of over 62 years, Ruth; son, David (Karen) Radde of Athens; grandson, Erik (fiance Maria) Radde; granddaughter, Kristen (Andrew) Radde-Gallwitz all of Atlanta; niece, Melodee (Eusebio) Garcia of Brookston, TX; distant relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Rose Virgil Radde; brothers, Alfred and Ernest Radde; sisters, Ruth Strom, Mareta and Melinda Radde; step-sister, Edwinia Price; stepbrothers, Ronald and Russell Virgil; and niece, Martha Taylor.
Funeral Services and visitation were held at the Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, in Athens, Georgia.
Visitation for Mr. Radde will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 31, at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire Center cemetery.

Wilbur Reiser
Wilbur Reiser, 82, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Elgin, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2002 in the Coronado House of Hospice of the Valley.
He was born December 17, 1919 in Burlington, IL the son of Joseph and Anna (Boxleitner) Reiser. He attended St. Charles Borromeo Grade School. Mr. Reiser. He attended St. Charles Borromeo Grade School. Mr. Reiser had farmed in the Hampshire area and then drove for Ludwig and Modern Dairies for 30 years. Wilbur was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and a 50 plus year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. In 1994, he retired to Arizona.
Survivors include his wife Johanna Duyne whom he married
September 21, 1940; three sons, Wilbur Jr. of West Dundee, James (Regina) and Michael of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Scott (Lisa) Reiser of Phoenix, AZ, Eric (Kara) Reiser of Amarillo, TX, Andrea (Timothy) Ault and Amy (Robert) Kosirog of Phoenix, AZ; ten great-grandchildren, two sisters, Marcella Baumgartner of Montello, WI and Doris Willison of Clarksville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, William, Edward, Ralph, Bernard and Alfred; and a sister, Anna Grollemond.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 26, at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson St., Hampshire with the Rev. Joseph Nicolosi officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Borromeo cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire with the Rosary at 3:15 p.m.

Mildred Nina Cook
Mildred Nina Cook, 76, of Elgin passed away Saturday, August 23, 2003 at Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. She was born February 25, 1927 in Portsmouth, NH, the daughter of Harry R. and Alta Holman Drew. She had been a resident of Streamwood from 1961 until 1992 and then lived with her daughter in Hanover Park and Cary until moving to Elgin.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda (Chuck) Flanagan of Arkansas, Nina (Larry) McGehee of Woodstock, Ruby Roper of Carpentersville, nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lee Cook.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 27 at 1 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Ron Skol officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army.
Doris Marion Tyler Johnston Gary
Memorial services for Doris Marion Tyler Johnston Gary will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, Elgin. Friends may visit with family at the church one hour before the service. Born March 20, 1908, she died Thursday, August 21, 2003.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth P. Johnston, M.D., in 1967; her second husband, Hardin Gary, in 1986; and her daughter, Sandra June Johnston Hanley, in 2000.
Doris is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Johnston Wurth of Wichita, KS, Nancy Johnston (Dick Bolan) of Minneapolis, MN, and Judy Johnston Steffen (Fred) of Elgin. She is the cherished grandmother of twelve grandchildren, Tom Jackson, M.D. (Michelle), Amy Gebhart (Ken), Alex Jackson (MaLisa), Molly Lavacek (Charles), Rosalind Elstrom, Alex Wilson (Jeanne Finley), Margaret Wilson (Joseph Gray), Julie Steffen (Detlev Pansch), John Steffen (Kerin Kelly), Bob Steffen (Ketki), Marian Hanley (Matt Mead), and Charlotte Hanley. There are twenty-one great-grandchildren, Katrina, Danny, and Ben Elstrom; Haley and Miles Jackson; Emily and Meredith Stinson; Emma, Mae, Lydia, and Eloise Lavacek; Joan, Chloe, Abigail and Liam Steffen; Lili Steffen; Nicole and Alyssa Steffen; August and Annalee Gray; and Thea Wilson.
She graduated from Benton Harbor, MI, High School in 1926 and University Hospital in Chicago as a Registered Nurse in 1930. She and her husband, Dr. Kenneth P. Johnston, moved to Elgin in 1936. Always proud of her profession, her last job as a nurse was at Sherman Hospital from 1968 to 1978.
Doris was active in the Elgin community: a member of the First Congregational Church for over 60 years where she volunteered for Golden Years, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, the Elgin Women's Club, the Elgin Historical Society, the Larkin Home League, the Lady Elks, and the Elgin Symphony League. Athletic from childhood, she remained active; in the 1950's she was captain of the Lady Elks' championship bowling team. An accomplished seamstress, she made many clothes for her four daughters, including tap and ballet costumes, prom dresses, and several high school class banners. She was a Brownie Troop leader for her youngest daughter, Sandy.

Claudia J. Hines
Claudia J. Hines, 56, of Elgin passed away Thursday in her home. She was born January 20, 1947 in Elgin, the daughter of Claude and Ermalee Bledsoe. Claudia had worked at Joseph Spiess Co. and Safety Kleen in Elgin. Member of St. Laurence Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Donald "Toby" Hines of Elgin, one daughter, Megan Hines of Elgin, her father, Claude (Lillian) Bledsoe, her sister, Cindy (Ken) Bornstedt of Mississippi, her brother, Jim Bledsoe of South Elgin, two nieces, Brandi (Jon) Roche and Paige (Jeff) Haymons, one nephew, Joe Hines, one great niece, Taylor Roche, her care giver and special friend, Laima Butkute.

Charles J. "Chuck" Kent/Onbekent, age 64, of Elgin. Beloved husband of Anita nee Hazle. Loving father of Pamela (Edward) Parisek, Scott (Jennifer) Kent and Troy (Jennifer) Kent. Cherished grandfather of Kristina Ratcliff, Cortney, Paige, Ally, Ryan, Brandon and Jacob. Great grandfather of Anthony and Blake. Dear brother of Helene (Rene) Van Hulle, Jeanne Karlson, Linda Onbekent and brother in law of Joseph Levato. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Jeanne Onbekent and sister Mary Levato.
He was the former owner of De-Tec-Tronic Corp.

Carol Schneider
Carol Schneider, 77, of Sarasota, FL passed away August 19, 2003 in Bradenton, FL. She was born July 5, 1926 in Elgin and was the daughter of William and Amelia Gurnett. She had been a resident of Elgin most of her life, moving to Sarasota in the year 2000. She and her husband owned and operated the Television Rental Service at Sherman Hospital in Elgin before retiring. Member of B.P.O.E. Lodge #737 Lady Elks and St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Survivors include one step son, Thomas (Linda) Schatz of Stuart, FL and two step grandchildren, Stephanie and Rebecca.

Judith Jane (Bergan) Brown
Judith Jane (Bergan) Brown, 58, life-long resident of Elgin, lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. She was born on January 3, 1946 in Franklin, Indiana, the daughter of William J. and June H. Bergan. She was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1963, Knox College in 1967 and received a Masters of Business Administration from Northern Illinois University in 1995. She was an avid gardener and loved to cook. Known for her sharp wit and leadership skills, she was respected by many in her position as Director, Business Partner Management-Selling at Sears Roebuck & Co. since 1986. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elgin and the Elgin Junior Service Board.
Surviving are a daughter, Carrie (Joel) Freehling of Chicago; a son, Scott (Susanna) Brown of Ann Arbor, Michigan; two grandchildren, Jamison Brown and Alexander Freehling; her parents, William J. and June Bergan of Huntley, formerly of Elgin; a sister, Barbara (Hank) Holz of Elgin; and many other family members and friends. She was a doting grandmother and the greatest aunt in the world.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St, Elgin with Deacon John De La Garza officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 9 PM. Contributions may be made in her memory to Fox Valley Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Richard S. Kemerling
Richard S. Kemerling, 74, of Elgin passed away Sunday, August 22, 2004 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born on April 1, 1930 in Elgin, the son of Edwin and Clara (Torgeson) Kemerling. Richard was a resident of Elgin for all of his life, and had worked at Precision Diamond Tool of Elgin for many years prior to his retirement. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Richard was an excellent wood carver, carving every duck species in North America. He was a member of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church of Elgin, the Chippewa Archery Club, the Bowmen of the Fox Archery Club and the Upland Hunting Club.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Kemerling of Elgin; step son, Richard (Sherri) Baumann of White Bear Lake, MN; his brother-in-law, James Weirich of Huntley, IL; his sister-in-law, Barbara Kemerling of Elgin; his cousin, Wayne (Sharon) Torgeson of Hancock, MI; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents,; his first wife, Anna Marie Kemerling in 1989; two brothers, Tom Kemerling and Robert Kemerling in infancy; and a sister, Carol Weirich.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 AM in Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, Elgin with Rev. Steve Srock officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be on Wednesday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin from 4 to 8 PM and on Thursday in the church from 10 AM until time of services.
