Kenneth Naess
Kenneth Naess, 78, of Elgin passed away Friday, August 20, 2004 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He was born August 8, 1926 in Bronx, New York and was the son of Herman and Maria Naess. He had been a resident of Elgin for the past 32 years and was a Manufacturers Rep. before retiring and then was a substitute school teacher for School District U46.
Member of the Chicago Lan Dalmatian Club. Member of the Fox River Trolly Club. Life member of the Fox Valley Dog Training Club.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Matheson, whom he married
in 1969; one daughter, Karen Naess of Elgin; one sister, Marjorie Johnson of Idaho; two nieces; two nephews; his Dalmatian dog, Belle.

Visitation will be in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
Michael A. Curran
Michael A. Curran, 44, of Elgin, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born March 7, 1957 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of John J. and Barbara Aber Curran.
He had been employed by Precision Diamond Tool in Elgin for the past five years.
Surviving are two sons, Christian and Brandon Fredrick Curran.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jonathon Michael Curran.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 7:30 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 PM until time of services in the funeral home.
Donald E. Hutson, Jr.
Donald E. Hutson, Jr., 57, of Kirby, AR died Thursday, August 23, 2001.
He was born on September 7, 1943 in Kirby, the son of Donald E. Hutson Sr. and Ernastine Anderson Hutson who preceded him in death.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a self-employed carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hutson of Kirby; a son, James Donald Hutson of Kirby; a foster daughter, Tami Lynn Miller of Longmont, Colorado; two brothers, Terry Hutson of Elgin, Illinois and Dennis Hutson of Kirby; a sister, Linda Chargingcrow of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Monday, August 27, 2001 at the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Kirby with Elder Bobby Golden officiating. Interment will be in the Kirby cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home of Glenwood.

Mary E. Krumbholz
Mary E. Krumbholz, 89, of Mountain View, Calif., died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001.
She was born in Indiana and was a longtime resident of Elgin. She worked at Sherman Hospital for many years and was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Krumbholz of Stoughton, Mass.; a daughter, Carol Bolster of Mountain View, Calif.; a granddaughter, Brooke Bolster of Denver, Colo.; a grandson, Bryan Bolster of Portland, Ore.; and two great-grandsons, Gil and Mitchell Bolster of Portland, Ore.
Leatha M. Romke
Leatha M. Romke, 81, of Burlington, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2001 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
She was born July 3, 1920 in Elgin, the daughter of Edward and Gladiola (Cook) Behm. Leatha was a 1939 graduate of Elgin High School. She married
Erwin H. Romke on May 18, 1941 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Burlington.
Mrs. Romke was a member of St. John's Lutheran of Burlington, the Altar Guild, and the Ladies Aid.
Surviving are her daughter, Sharon (Phil) Loek of Burlington; six grandchildren, Erich (fiance Erika) Dean, Leanna Hurlbutt, Jason, Ian and Marissa Holcomb, and Kaitlin Loek, and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Romke was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Erwin in 1977; her daughter, Carole Dean in 1994 and two brothers, Murland "Bud" Behm, Don Behm, and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, August 27, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 13N535 French Rd., Burlington with the Rev. Howard J. Gleason officiating. Following cremation, burial will be in the Burlington Union cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 P.M. Sunday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire and at Church on Monday from 10 to 11 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. John's Lutheran Church of Burlington.
Robert P. Lichter
Robert P. Lichter, 60, of Sleepy Hollow for 22 years died Wednesday, August 21, 2002 in Green Lake, Wisconsin.
He was born in Algona, Iowa on September 15, 1941, the son of Joseph and Mary (nee Geisch) Lichter.
Mr. Lichter was a 35 year employee of Ryder Industries. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country in Vietnam. Mr. Lichter was a long time member of The Messiah Lutheran Church where he once served as Congregation President. He was also a past member of The Sleepy Hollow Service Club. Bob touched many peoples' lives in many ways. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Patricia A. (nee DeVriendt) whom he married
on December 12, 1964; daughters, Stephanie (Michael) Kusibab of Chicago and Stacy (Keith) Sloan of Lake in the Hills; brothers, Jim of California, Dennis (Judy) of Iowa; sisters, Judy (Jim) Wibben of Utah, Elizabeth (Chuck) Becker of Iowa, Phyllis of Florida, Beverly Groh of Minnesota and Mary Jo of Utah; also many nieces, nephews and friends survived.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday in the Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Church Rd, Elgin at noon with the Reverends John Harder and Michael Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be held at the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM and on Wednesday at the church from 11 AM until time of service.

Raymond H. Rabe
Raymond H. Rabe, 88, of Deerfield, Wisconsin, formerly of Elgin, IL, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2002 in his home.
He was born November 4, 1913 in Kane County, IL, the son of Herman and Minnie Weise Rabe.
He had been a resident of Elgin for most of his life and been a resident of Deerfield for the past 26 years. He was employed by McGraw-Edison Electric and then Elgin Macor before retiring. He was a member of Deerfield Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the Eagles Club in Elgin.
Surviving are a daughter, Karen Shatters of Aurora; four sons, Robert (Peggy) Rabe of Columbus, Ohio, Donald (Kathy) Rabe of Laclede, Idaho, Ken (Kathy) Rabe of Elgin and Roger (Cathy) Rabe of Gainesville, Georgia; ten grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Fern U'Ren Rabe on June 14, 1994; two sisters, Matha Krehmke and Edna Weir; and a brother, Bernard Rabe.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 10 AM at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St, Elgin with Pastor Larry Sexe officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9 AM until the time of services.

Ruth J. Tague
Ruth J. Tague, 91, of Elgin died Thursday, August 22, 2002 at the Tower Hill Health Care Center in Elgin.
She was born September 25, 1910 in Chicago, the daughter of Elof and Walborg (Anderson) Johnson.
She married
W. Edward Tague of June 26, 1943. Mrs. Tague was an established character actor with NBC radio comedy shows during the 1930's and 40's in New York. She also was involved in real estate sales for several firms in the New York and Pennsylvania areas. In later years she and her husband moved to Elgin where she worked part time with the Elgin Courier. She and her husband traveled all over the world on both business and pleasure trips.
She is survived by a niece, Ruth (Dennis) Krull of Elgin; two nephews, Dale (Kathy) Messman of Cary and Bruce Messman of Lake in the Hills; a great nephew, Jeffrey; a great niece, Amie Krull; and a great great nephew, Garrett Krull.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1970; and a sister, Virginia J. Messman.
A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2002 in the Oakland cemetery in Woodstock.
Mildred Nina Cook
Mildred Nina Cook, 76, of Elgin passed away Saturday, August 23, 2003 at Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. She was born February 25, 1927 in Portsmouth, NH, the daughter of Harry R. and Alta Holman Drew. She had been a resident of Streamwood from 1961 until 1992 and then lived with her daughter in Hanover Park and Cary until moving to Elgin.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda (Chuck) Flanagan of Arkansas, Nina (Larry) McGehee of Woodstock, Ruby Roper of Carpentersville, nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lee Cook.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 27 at 1 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Ron Skol officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army.
Alvina F. "Vina" Crome
Alvina F. "Vina" Crome, 82, of Bruce, Mississippi, formerly of Burlington, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2003 in Bruce, MS.
She was born November 5, 1920 in Bassett, Wisconsin, the daughter of Lawrence and Frieda (Bosselman) Newberry.
Vina married
Victor Crome on June 21, 1941 in Woodstock and they farmed in the Burlington area until his death in 1963. She then moved to Burlington with two young children and worked at Playskool in Hampshire. She also worked as a cook at Sycamore Hospital until her retirement. Vina moved to Mississippi in 1995.
Surviving are her children, Barbara (Keith) Kellum of Bruce, MS, Victor (Pam) Crome of Davenport, Iowa, Karen (Larry) Kramer of Genoa; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond (Ethel) Newberry of Waterford, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor; a daughter, Sharen "Ann" Colby; and a great-grandson, Charles.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 28, at the St. John Lutheran Church, 13N535 French Rd., Burlington with the Rev. Howard J. Gleason officiating. Burial will be in the Burlington Twp. Union cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday prior to services from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church or to the charity of one's choice.
