Judy Wilson
Judy Wilson, 62, of South Elgin, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001 after a short battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 16, 1939 in Elgin, the daughter of Jack and Mary Adams Whalen.
She was a member of St. Laurence Church and the VFW Women's Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, James Wilson of South Elgin; two daughters and two sons, Valerie (Rocco) DeFrenza, James Jr. (Susan) Wilson, Vicki (Mark) Morford and Tom (Kristi)Wilson; ten grandchildren, Aaron Brown, Stephanie DeFrenza, Nicole DeFrenza, Rocco DeFrenza, Jr., Mindy Wilson, Cody Wilson, Lyndsey Morford, Nicholas Wilson, Seth Morford and Alyssa Wilson; three sisters and a brother, Monica (Bill) Grant, Kathy (Bill) Freiberg, Patrice (Tim) Neal, John (Alice) Whalen; and 12 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 30 in St. Laurence Catholic Church, Elgin, the Rev. Joseph Kulak officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be 3-9 p.m., Wednesday in the O'Connor and Homeier Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mound City, Ill. or the Leukemia Research Foundation.

John C. Becker
John C. Becker, 48, of Elgin passed away Monday, August 26, 2002 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born March 24, 1954 in Elgin and was the son of Robert and Dorothy Werfelmann Becker. John had been a resident of Elgin all his life. He was a graduate of Larkin High School in 1972 and then University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a Bachelor of Science Degree. John was employed by Allegiance Healthcare, a Cardinal Health Co., in McGaw Park, IL., as Director of Technical Management. John received an organ transplant and had four years added to his life. He then became an advocate for the Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organization.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Elgin. He was also a member of the NRA.
Surviving are his wife, Paula Dee Becker whom he married on July 31, 1993; one daughter, Rachel Becker at home; one son, Matthew Becker at home; his mother, Dorothy Becker of Elgin; one sister, Cynthia (William) Putre of Wahiawa, Hawaii; two brothers, Thomas (Patricia) Becker of Eden Prairie, Minn. and Andrew (Shelby) Becker of Huntley, IL.; nieces and nephews, Hallie, Luke, Jacob, Meggie and Kelsey Becker, Christopher and Caitlin Putre, Annie Jankowski.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Becker; and his first wife, Elaine Jankowski Becker in 1987.
Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11:30 A.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1111 Van St., Elgin with Rev. Roger Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Friday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of services in the church.
Memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Building Fund or the American Diabetes Association.

Patricia A. Imhoff
Patricia A. Imhoff, 56 of Dundee Township died Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Evanston, IL. on November 23, 1945. She was the daughter of Earl A. and Mary Elizabeth (nee Baier) Murphy. She was a lifelong resident of the Dundee area, a 1963 graduate of Dundee High School. She was a long time member of the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. Pat was a kind and friendly person who touched many lives. She was a loving and devoted wife, mom, grandma and sister. She will be truly missed.
Pat is survived by by her husband of 34 years, Julian "Tupe" Imhoff. They married on October 14, 1967; three daughters, Jill (Jim) Rocheford of McHenry, Sara (Scott) Gibbons of Fishers, Indiana and Ann (Troy) Oates of Genoa; two grandsons, Ben and Sam Gibbons; one brother, Michael E. (Mary Kay) Murphy of Dundee Township; one sister, Molly Murphy of West Dundee.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be on Friday at 11:30 A.M. in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. The Rev. Richard A. Rosinski, Pastor will officiate.
Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 P.M. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Friday from 10:30 A.M. until time of services in the church.

Janet L. Rydin
Janet L. Rydin, 60, of Dundee passed away Sunday, August 25, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born June 1, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Harold and Ruth Reed Pinnell. She had been a resident of the Elgin and Dundee area since 1961. She owned Rydin Real Estate in Elgin.
She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witness. She was a member of Fox Valley Real Estate Association.
Surviving are her husband, John N. whom she married on September 22, 1970; four children, Pamela (Lee) Garcia of Gilberts, Carrie Marin of St. Charles, Michael Wilkinson of Dundee and Joshua (Tina) Rydin of Elgin; step daughter, Carla Sutton of Aurora; 30 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Joan (Dick) Lane of DeKalb and Judy Price of Eldorado; two brothers, Joseph Pinnell of Florida and Greg (Jamie) Fry of Crystal Lake; step father, George Fry of Eldorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, DeWayne and Stanley Pinnell and Ronnie Lee in infancy; daughter, Rhonda Harrell; granddaughter, Tisha Garcia and great grandson Mickey McMahon.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. in the funeral home.

Frank J. Wenglass
Frank J. Wenglass, 67, died Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at home in Clearwater, FL. Retired from Ace Coffee Bar, Inc., Elgin and retired May 2001 to Clearwater, FL from Elgin, IL. He was born in Chicago, IL.
He was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War Conflict and was stationed in Germany. He was an avid boater and member of Elgin Rifle and Gun Club. He was Catholic.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Dolores E.; two daughters, Catherine A. (John) Morrison of Andover, NJ and Caroline A. (Steven) Frank of Buffalo Grove, IL; seven grandchildren, Christina, Caitlin, Courtney, Alexa, Colton, Colette, and Trey Joseph.
Catholic Memorial Mass on Friday, August 30th at St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL at 4:00 p.m. (847) 253-6305. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hospice of North Shore, 2821 Central St., Evanston, IL 60201.

Judith K. Childers
Judith K. Childers, 62, of Elgin, passed away Tuesday in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born October 20, 1940 in Elgin, IL and was the daughter of Clayton and Elizabeth (Kenyon) Metzger. Judith had worked at the ASCS for the Department of Agriculture of St. Charles for Dupage and Kane County for nine years, and from 1995 until today she had worked as the office manager at Childers Tool Sales in Elgin. Judith loved sewing, quilting, singing in the church choir, playing handbells and playing golf. She will be missed by all who knew her. Member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Carpentersville from 1969 until the present.
Survivors include her husband Donald, whom she married on August 6, 1960, two children, Dawn Marie (William J.) Chisholm of Elgin and Melissa Kay (James Elischer) Childers of Elgin, three grandchildren, Savannah Marie Collier, Brianne and Zachary Chisholm, four sisters, Terri (Jim) Belcher of AZ, Kathy (Phil) Miller of WI, Mary (Mike) Popilek of Carpentersville, IL and Debbie (Larry) Sluis of Algonquin, IL and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1647 Ravine Ln., Carpentersville, IL with Rev. Robert Baker officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Friday in the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the church.

Robert J. Copland
Robert J. Copland, 60 of South Elgin passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at Delnor-Community Hospital, Geneva. He was born June 5, 1943 in Elmhurst, the son of James and Vivian Hohman Copland. He had been a resident of South Elgin since 1978. He was employed at Motorola in Schaumburg as a printed circuit designer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1964 until 1968.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he served as an elder. He was a member of the Ft. Dearborn Highlanders. He was a member of the Iditarod Trail Committee.
Surviving are his wife, Rosana Lea Kasmer Copland, whom he married on July 10, 1967; one daughter, Leanna (John) Ireland of Aurora; one son, Robert a. Copland of South Elgin; one grandson, Robert E. "Bob" Copland; two sisters, Barbara (Gerald) Neill of Hampshire, Debbie Nickey of Villa Park; one brother, James (Jeanne) Copland of Hoffman Estates.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 30 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Elgin with Rev. Hannibel Frederich officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services in the church. Memorials may be given to the Jeremy Faga Alaskan Mission Fund C/O of St. John Lutheran Church.

Ruth M. "Grandma" Friend
Ruth M. "Grandma" Friend, 89, of Algonquin died Thursday, August 21, 2003 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born on December 11, 1913 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Rudolph and Minnie (nee Pippinburg) Mierke. Mrs. Friend was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of East Dundee and a member of the Senior Bible Class. She was a long time volunteer at Immanuel Lutheran School and helped with the hot lunch program, and First Grade Reading Program.
She is survived by her children Arnold (Bev) Friend of Maryville, IL and Hollis J. "Holly" (Alan) Glowinski of Algonquin, four grandchildren: Joel (Julie) Friend of Chicago, Laura Friend of Troy, IL, Michael A. Glowinski of Pompano Beach, FL and James D. Glowinski of Irvine, CA, one great granddaughter: Reagan Hailee Duerra, one sister: Muriel Mierke of Bensenville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry C. Friend in 1982 and three brothers: Ernest, Paul and Frank.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, August 30, 2003 at 10 a.m. in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 310 E. Main St., East Dundee. The Rev. William P. Yonker will officiate. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Gardens West, Oakbrook Terrace. Visitation will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 310 E. Main St. in East Dundee on Friday from 4-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Professional Church Workers Fund. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

Ernest J. Kujak
Ernest J. "Ernie" Kujak, 79, of Hampshire, passed away Monday, August 25, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
He was born March 18, 1924 in Arcadia, WI, the son of August and Rose (Milek) Kujak. Ernie was a World War II Army veteran and married Eileen T. Boberg on June 6, 1944 at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Arcadia. He operated a dry cleaning route in the Sparta, WI area for LaCrosse Laundry and Dry Cleaning before moving to Hampshire in 1958. He drove truck for Fischer Transport of Hampshire and later for Country Delight plants in Hampshire and Maywood.
Ernie and Eileen purchased and operated the Village Inn Restaurant and Tavern of Hampshire which they operated for nearly 15 years. After retirement, he worked part-time for Marengo Ridge Golf Club.
Mr. Kujak was a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, the VFW Post #8043 of Hampshire, and the Elgin Moose.
Surviving are his wife Eileen, sons David (Carol Jean) Kujak of Elgin, Gary (Claudia) Kujak of Long Beach, CA; daughter Carol Ann (Donald) McNeal of Homestead, FL; seven grandchildren Julie (Phillip) Schuring, Scott (Kristin) Kujak, Kevin (Kristy) Kujak, Elizabeth (Jonathan) Willigman all of South Elgin, Dale McNeal of Homestead, Joseph (Melanie) McNeal of Genoa, Angela (Ian) Jung of New Port Richey, FL; three great grandchildren with another due any day; and three sisters, Josephine Klimek, Gertrude Kamrowski, and Irene Ripley all of Arcadia, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Anton Kujak, sisters Frances Patzner, Sister Mary Ernestelle of the Sisters of St. Joseph, and a sister in infancy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon Saturday, August 30, at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson St., Hampshire with the Fr. Joseph P. Nicolosi officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the St. Charles Borromeo cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire and on Saturday at the church prior to mass from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Rosary will be held at 4:15 on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, masses or memorials in his name may be directed to the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Scott Robert Lawrence
Scott Robert Lawrence, age 44, of Chicago, IL, formerly of Elgin, IL, passe away in his home August 25, 2003. He graduated from Larkin High School in 1977, Elgin Community College in 1979, and the University of Illinois College of Engineering in 1981. He was employed by Commonwealth Edison as a nuclear engineer.
He is survived by Craig Lewis, his life partner of thirteen years; his parents, Robert and Barbara Lawrence of Elgin, IL; his mother-in-law, Cecelia Lewis of Chicago, IL; his sister, Kathie Lawrence of Charleston, IL; his brother, Tom (Helen) Lawrence; and nieces Katelyn and Amy of Burlington, IL.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and sister, Patty.
Private services will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Lynn Pflaum Memorial, in care of Larkin High School, Elgin, IL 60123.

Glen E. Gifford
Glen E. Gifford, 80, of Carpentersville died Wednesday August 28, 2002 at Provena-St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Chicago on October 27, 1921 the son of Glen and Ella (nee Kraft) Gifford. He was a Carpentersville resident for 48 years.
He was former Mayor of Carpentersville for 8 years, former Carpentersville Village Trustee for 6 years, former 8 year member of the Kane County Board. He was a member of St. Monica Church of Carpentersville. Glen was active and a supporter of Little League and the "Babe Ruth" League.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Leona (nee Stolinski) Gifford. They married on Sept. 9, 1944. (1) Daughter: Gail J. (Ron) Seyller of Elgin (1) Son: Terrance A. Gifford of Carpentersville. (4) Grandchildren (3) Great Grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and (1) brother.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee with prayers to St. Monica Church, Carpentersville for mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
