Gerald M. Janssen
Gerald M. Janssen, 33, died Monday, August 26, 2002 as a result from injuries sustained from an automobile accident in Arkansas. He was born May 17, 1969 in Denver, Colorado. The son of Charles and Mary Claire (Sprague) Janssen.
Gerald received his masters degree at the University of Illinois in Chicago. He worked for Alcoa in Magnolia, Ark. as a metallugist. He was active in the National Guard, attaining the rank of Captain and a member of the Chicago Cycling Club.
He is survived by his parents of Genoa, IL; two sisters, Joan (Jerry) Sliwa of Carol Stream, IL. and Kate (Stephen) Fiacchino of Port Washington, Wisc.; two brothers, Brian Janssen of Elgin, IL. and Michael Janssen of Genoa, IL.
His Funeral Mass will be Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 10:30 AM at St. Catherine of Genoa Church. Burial will be at St. Catherine cemetery, Genoa. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home of Genoa, with a Wake Service at 7:30 PM.

Carol G. Palmer
Carol G. Palmer, 75, of Bartlett passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at Sherman Hospital. She was born December 10, 1926 in Elgin, the daughter of Otto and Lydia Schuppner Fees.
She fought a courageous battle with cancer. She had been a lifelong resident of Elgin and Bartlett. Graduate of Elgin High School in 1944. Carol was a kind and friendly person who touched many lives. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will truly be missed.
Survivors include: husband Willard of 56 years, son: Timothy Palmer of St. Charles; daughter: Mareen (Larry) Stanley of Elgin, five grandchildren: Nathaniel and Kevin Palmer and Megan, Bryan, and Jillian Stanley.

Dorothy E. Dorwaldt
Dorothy E. Dorwaldt, 91, of Elgin passed away Friday, August 27, 2004 at Alderwood Health Care Center, South Elgin. She was born September 22, 1912 in Elgin, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Kieler Kane. She had been a resident of Elgin and South Elgin all of her life. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ of Elgin and loved to play bingo as often as possible.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy Warner of Elgin and Susan E. (Ronald) Flora of Tomball, Texas; a son, Edward Dorwaldt of Elgin; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Janet Dorwaldt of Rochelle, IL and Ruth Dorwaldt of Elgin; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward "Shorty" Dorwaldt; son, Larry Dorwaldt; granddaughter, Michelle Flora; grandson, Edward Dorwaldt; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at 12 NOON at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Dr. Robert Kasper officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of services in the funeral home.
Harry F. Hughes
Harry F. Hughes, 75, of Huntley, passed away, suddenly Friday, August 27, 2004 in Sherry, WI. He was born October 23, 1928 in Barrington, IL, the son of Roy and Selma (Bauman) Hughes.
Harry was a 1947 graduate of Huntley High School. He married
Margie M. Volk on May 16, 1953 in St. Laurence Catholic Church in Elgin.
Mr Hughes worked in the trucking industry for many years, beginning with a milk route that he operated for over 25 years. He then operated the M & H Leasing Trucking Company in Huntley for eight years. He finished his career with Dean Food's servicing and maintaining equipment.
He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church of Huntley and an over 50 year member of the Elgin Moose Lodge #799. He enjoyed camping, traveling, hunting, playing cards, and most of all spending time with his family and his many friends.
Surviving are his wife, Margie; three children, David (Lori) Hughes of Burlington, WI, Diane (Paul) Schirmer of Marengo and Dale (Anne) Hughes of Algonquin; six grandchildren, Kristina, Alison and David Hughes, Miranda Schirmer, Jenna and Erica Hughes; great-granddaughter, Carmen; his aunt, Erma Buck of Barrington; sister-in-law, Georgia (Robert) Durrenberger of Huntley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Donald; grandson, Travis Schirmer; and brothers, Norman and Marvin Hughes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, August 31, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Rd. (enter off Kreutzer Rd.) in Huntley, with Fr. Stephen Knox, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic cemetery in Huntley.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Monday at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley. He will lie in state at the Church on Tuesday, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.

Richard P. "Dick" Morgan
Richard P. "Dick" Morgan, 52, of Carpentersville died Thursday August 26, 2004 at Sherman Hospital. He was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin on May 6, 1952. He was a graduate of Dundee Community High School and a graduate of Aurora University where he earned his Bachelors degree in Social Work. He was a former 25 year employee of the Elgin Mental Health Center where he worked as a case worker.
He is survived by his mother Kathleen "Kathy" Morgan of Carpentersville. His sister; Peggy Morgan-Tackett of Wisconsin and his niece; Carrie Kwasniewski also of Wisconsin. His beloved dog, Francis also survives. He was preceded in death by his father; Gerald E. "Red" Morgan. Memorial Services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday September 5, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Interment will be private. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until time of service.

Ann Rinck
Ann Rinck, 84, of South Elgin, IL died Thursday, August 26, 2004 at Alderwood Health Care Center. Ann was born in New York City on December 25, 1919, the daughter of Ulysses and Carolyn (nee Scanlon) Gray. A long time resident of South Elgin, Ann worked for over 30 years as an Underwriter for Hartford Insurance in Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy Chesterfield; her first husband, Henry O'Brien (killed in World War II); and her beloved second husband, Charles "Uncle Charlie" Rinck.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth (Rodney) Whene of Stillman Valley, IL; her nephews and nieces, Steve (Barbara) Chesterfield of South Elgin, Scott (Martha) Chesterfield of South Elgin, Debbie (James) Crane of Elgin, Claudia (Paul) Schickler of Des Moines, IA, Pamela Goetten of Naples, FL, David (Mary) Whene of Medford, NJ and John (Carolyn) Whene of Vallejo, CA; and by many grand nephews and grand nieces. She will be greatly missed.
There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alderwood Health Care Center in South Elgin, IL. The Laird Funeral Home in Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
Kathleen Wetzel
Kathleen Wetzel, 40, of Elgin passed away Thursday, August 26, 2004. She was born on January 14, 1964 in Seattle, Washington and was the daughter of Harold and Arlene Emel. Kathleen had been a resident of Elgin for the past 25 years.
She was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church of Elgin.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Wetzel of Elgin; two sons, Cory Brown of Geneva, IL and Walter Wetzel of Elgin, IL; her parents of Boise, Idaho; three sisters, Jessica L. (Randy) Richardson of Tacoma, Washington, Michelle (Jim) Hoye of Boise, Idaho, Jessica M. (Matthew) Havner of Texas; many nieces and nephews; her maternal grandmother, Victoria Harrington.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather and her paternal grandparents.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 30, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Laurence Catholic Church, Elgin with Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-7:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Monday in the church from 9:30 a.m until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Laurence Athletic Program.
Heide H. Wilson
Heide H. Wilson, 60 of East Dundee died Thursday at her home. She was born in Flammerfeld, Germany on September 26, 1942.
Heide was raised in Dusseldorfe, Germany and completed her business training with Mannesman. She studied English in London, England. She had a very full and successful professional career which included being an Auslandkores-pondentin with General Steamship and Navigation in Dusseldorfe and later as an Executive Assistant with Volkswagen, USA. Heide immigrated to the United States in 1965. Over the years, Heide has traveled extensively and has lived in England, Martinique in the French West Indies, New York, and New Jersey. She has been a resident of East Dundee since 1981. She was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee. Heide volunteered her time at the various schools which her children attended and for local community organizations.
She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Wilson, whom she married
in Dusseldorfe, Germany while he was the civilian liaison officer to the intelligence and security agencies of the North Rhein-Westfalen and other allied governments; her children, Martina (Matt) Scanlan of Morga, CA and the twins, Michael wilson of San Francisco, CA and Natalie Wilson of Chicago; two grandchildren, Kellen and Emma Scanlan of Moraga, CA; manny good and close friends in all the communities which she lived.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesdsay at 11:00 a.m. in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 310 E. Main Street in East Dundee. The Rev. William P. Yonker, Senior Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Monday, September 1, 2003 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Tuesday in church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Florence Huck (nee Burklund)
Florence Huck (nee Burklund), 86, of Elgin passed away Friday, August 27, 2004 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born on April 7, 1918 in Minnesota and was the daughter of Carl and Helen Burklund. Florence graduated from Elgin High School in 1936, she had worked in the office of the Elgin National Watch Factory and also at David C. Cook Publishing Co. of Elgin. Florence was the Organist and Pianist and taught Sunday School for many years at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Elgin. She was very active in Dorcas Society. She was very talented in Crocheting and enjoyed flower arrangement.
Survivors include her husband, Harry Huck whom she married
on June 21, 1947; her cousins, Dana Olson of South Elgin and John Anderson of Rockford; her adopted families, Linda and Ed Nogan and family and Pete and Debbie Gwizdala and family; and many loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 7 PM in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Valerie M. Budinger
Valerie M. Budinger, 79, of Gilberts passed away Thursday, August 30, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
She was born March 21, 1922 in Escanaba, MI, the daughter of Edward and Lillian Shedore.
Survivors include four children, Richard (Gina) Budinger of Monomonee, WI, Linda (Charles) Seaborg of New Lenox, IL, Barbara (Al) Dimperio of Phoenix, AZ and Kathy (Bill) Linden of Gilberts, IL; 14 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Budinger in 1980; and a great grandchild in infancy.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday at 12 Noon in St. Joseph cemetery, River Grove, IL.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Frank E. Fryer
Frank E. Fryer, 73, of Carpentersville and Galena, Ill. died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born in Nucla, Colo. on Dec. 22, 1927, the son of Oscar G. and Bessie (nee Steans) Fryer.
Frank was a resident of Carpentersville since 1957. In 1950 he graduated with a BA from Drury University in Springfield, Mo. He continued with advanced studies in geology at the University of Missouri in Columbia. In 1960 along with his wife Evelyn, founded the Fryer Co., Inc., a scientific instrument sales and service company. During the next 40 years the Fryer Company grew to be the leader of it's industry, with branch offices in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. In 1995 he founded the Huntley Tech Center an industrial park in Huntley, Illinois. In his retirement, he devoted his time to the development of enterprise. He was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Church of West Dundee; the Dundee Township and Jo Daviess Counties Historical Societies. Frank was known to many in the community for his portrayal of "Father Christmas". He brought much joy and happiness during the Christmas Season to many community and social events.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Evelyn Thiel Fryer, whom he married
on Dec. 30, 1950; seven children, Kathy (Don) Gereau of Galena, Steven (Rosa) of East Dundee, Kevin of Brisbane, Calif., Leslie (Vafa) Aflatooni of Pendleton, Ore., Michael (Flora) of Carpentersville, David of Carpentersville and Rebecca (Leroy) Hunninghake of Trenton, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce (Bill) Pyle of Springfield, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Monday in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee, the Rev. Richard Rosinski officiating. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be 1-5 p.m., Sunday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Monday in the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.
