Louise A. Mattocks
Louise A. Mattocks, 78, of Elgin, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2002 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
She was born July 5, 1924 in Elgin and was the daughter of Laredo and Salvitrice (Salvitore) Cirrincone.
A resident of Elgin for all of her life, Louise had worked at the Elgin National Watch Factory for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Walter of Elgin whom she married
on July 7, 1950; and by many close family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 12 Noon in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin with Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 6 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Laurence Building Fund.
Otto M. Melahn
Otto M. Melahn, 77, of Elgin, went to his Lord Friday, August 30, 2002 in Sherman Hospital with his family by his side. He was born December 13, 1924 in Dundee, IL and was the son of Louis and Anna Melahn.
He worked for many years for C.E. Jakes Decorating Co. before starting his own business of Melahn Decorating which he owned for over twenty five years. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth, to whom he had been married
to for 55 years; two daughters, Deborah (Joe) Sula of Rockford, IL and Barbara (Mike) Weiss of Savannah, Georgia; five grandchildren, Jeff (Toni) Sula of Rockford, Jennifer Sula (fiance' Matt Lawrence) of Fox Lake, Christopher (Holly) Weiss of Savannah, Georgia, Amanda (Billy) Cook of Oak Grove, Kentucky and Tim Sula (special friend, Cheryl Johns) of West Dundee; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca and Madeline Weiss, Brittany, Andrew and Megan Sula and Zachary Cook.
preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00AM in the Laird Funeral Home in Elgin with Dr. Larry Pickens officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Barrington, IL. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
Sylvia M. Wesemann
Sylvia M. Wesemann, 93, of Elgin passed away Friday, August 30, 2002 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born September 12, 1908 in Elgin, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Mathias) Dohle.
She was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1924. She had been employed as a seamstress for Singer's Style Shop and by the Elgin Case Factory. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, the Ladies Auxiliary of the church, Elgin Women of the Moose #610 and Ladies "Pieces of Eight" Club in Elgin.
Survivors include her son, Gerald C. (Claudia) Boundy of Scottsdale, AZ; her daughter, Bonita Claire "Bonnie" (Richard) Beu of Elgin; grandchildren, David Boundy, Marlese (Rob) MacLaughlin, Cherylee (Rich) Mills, Jason Beu and Joshua (Amber) Beu.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clarence Earl Boundy whom she married
on August 26, 1926 and who preceded her on May 5, 1960; and Carl Frederic Wesemann, whom she married
on July 10, 1966 and who died May 10, 2000; and a brother, Edwin Mathias Dohle.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 5, 2002 at 11 AM in the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dr. Robert Kasper of St. Paul's United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at the funeral home.

Carl E. Arians Jr.
Carl E. Arians Jr., age 80, of Plato Township, died Sunday, August 31, 2003 at his home.
He was born December 9, 1922 in Elgin, IL, the son of Carl Sr. and Nettie Arians.
He was employed by Tash Inc. of Des Plaines, IL from 1962 until 1988. During that time he became Vice President/General Sales Manager. After his retirement, he continued with the company as a consultant and later worked part time for Crest Photo Lab in Elgin.
Mr. Arians attended Elgin Public school. Carl enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the European Theater during World War II. He participated at Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge and VE Day. His memberships included the Kiwanis Golden K. Club in Elgin, the Elgin Elks Club, the Golf League of Elks, St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Pingree Grove, IL and was formerly a member of the Central High School Sports Boosters Club. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed watching professional sports, and spending time at his summer cottage on Lake Somo in Tomahawk, WI.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Alice; two sons, Michael (June) of Oregon, IL and Eric (Kelli) of Plato Township, IL; two sisters, Lois (Robert) Deuchler of Dundee, IL and Maxine Pleasant of Mission Viejo, CA; two grandchildren, Amy D. Bumsted of Algonquin, IL and Nathan Arians of Plato Township and two great-grandchildren, Bradley Paul Bumsted, Jr. and Emily Sue Bumsted. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Creighton C. Webb, his brother, Richard and his sister, Viola Latina.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, September 4 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pingree Grove, IL. Rev. Lauren Krout will officiate. Burial will be in Plato cemetery, Plato Center, IL. Henry T. Krueger
Henry T. Krueger, 103, of Elgin passed away Monday at Alden Poplar Creek Health Care in Hoffman Estates. He was born April 26, 1900 in Germany, the son of Henry and Minnie Koener Krueger. He lived in Elgin most of his life. He was co-owner with his wife of Edith Krueger Apparel shop in Elgin.
Survivors include one niece, Arleen (Howard) Hermance of Rockford and a nephew Jack (Del) Krueger of AL and many great-nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the staff at Alden Poplar Creek.

Kurn F. Fierke
Kurn F. Fierke, age 103, of Elgin died Monday, August 30, 2004 in Rosewood Nursing Center, Elgin. He was born om Carpentersville, IL on August 5, 1901, the son of Charles and Alvina (Witt) Fierke.
On June 6, 1923 he was married
to Lorena Drendel.
He was employed as a machinist at Elgin National Watch Company for many years. He was a member of the fraternal Order of Eagles of Elgin. He was an avid bowler, and for many years bowled with the senior mixed league and the senior men's league in Elgin until he reached 100 years old.
Surviving are two daughters, Arlene Netzbandt of Bloomington, IL and Doloris Rahn of Elgin, IL; four grandchildren, Karen (Danny) Rogman of West Dundee, Joan Netzbandt (Robert Darner) of Bloomington, IL, Sherri Peabody and Sheila (Ronald) Ballack both of Elgin, IL; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorena; two brothers; two sisters; and two sons-in-law, Ronald Netzbandt and Earl Rahn.
Mass for the Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elgin. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 55 Center St., Elgin.
Russell T. Hurd
Russell T. Hurd, 86, Belvidere, IL, died August 31, 2004 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, IL following a brief illness.
Born June 22, 1918 in Hampshire, IL the son of Tracy L. and Gertrude E. (Marsh) Hurd. Graduate of Huntley High School Class of 1936 and attended Hamilton School of Business in Rockford, IL. married Kathleen C. Pike on March 16, 1946 in Belvidere, IL. Lived in Belvidere since 1946 coming from Huntley, IL. Served in U.S. Army during W.W.II with the 77 Division, 132 Combat Engineers in the Pacific. Worked at Farmers National Bank as a teller, Bookkeeper at Belvedere Products, worked with Maynard Thorp as a plasterer and was at Woodward Governor Co. for 15 years before retiring. Member of First Presbyterian Church, Boone Post 77 American Legion, Woodward Governor Retirement Breakfast Club, 132 Combat Engineer Reunion Group.
Survived by wife Kathleen of Belvidere, daughter Carla (Larry) Erickson, Belvidere, two Granddaughters Colleen (John T.) Link Jr., Loves Park, IL, Christa (Justin) Erp of Burnsville, MN, one Great Grandson Brandon L. Link.

Betty M. Richard
Funeral services for Betty M. Richard, 75 of Elgin, will be held Friday, September 3, 2004 at 11:00 AM from Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral and Cremation Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin.
She was born August 29, 1929 in Sikeston, MO, the daughter of Frank and Beulah (Thurston) Minton. She married
John H. Richard. She had been employed as an inspector for Elgin Molded Plastics.
Survivors include one son, Jack of Carpentersville; and one daughter, Balinda (Juan) Porras of Elgin; one brother, Frank Minton of Dexter, MO; and one sister, Dorothy Galloway of Sevierville, TN; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John on July 31, 1987; one son, John Michael Richard; and one grandson.
Visitation is at time of services, only.
Elois "Buddy" Smith
Elois "Buddy" Smith, 84, of Elgin passed away Monday, August 30, 2004 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born on March 19, 1920 in Aurora, IL. Buddy has lived in Elgin for the last 45 years, while enjoying her winters in Ft. Myers, FL. She enjoyed playing golf and cards, socializing with her many friends, gardening, and following the Cubs were her favorite pastimes.
She was a member of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church of Elgin, and the Ladies of the Elks' of Elgin.
Survivors include her son, Richard (Barbara) Douglas of Elgin; two grandchildren, Leanne (Todd) Brockmeyer of Bartlett, IL and Darin Douglas of Elgin; and one great-grandchild on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman Smith in 1991; one sister, Dorothy Morey; and one brother, Louis Sass.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Steve Srock officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the church.
Herbert P. Vollman
Herbert P. Vollman, age 93, of Elgin died Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2004 at Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin. Rev. Dan Schenck, pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Mr. Vollman was born January 7, 1911 in Elgin, the son of John and Nellie (Krone) Vollman. On October 3, 1932 he was married
to Helen Zehr. He was a graduate of Ellis Business College in Elgin. He was employed as an inspector for the U.S. Postal Service in Elgin for 36 years. After his retirement, he worked for Elgin National Bank. He was a member of American Legion Post 57, Elgin, The Golden "K", and the Elgin Lions Club. He was an Army Veteran of WWII.
Surviving are his wife, Helen; one son, David M. (Barbara) of Elgin; two grandchildren, Michael (Martina) and Steven Vollman; one great-granddaughter, Alexia Vollman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jon; one brother, Everett; one sister, Margaret Johnson.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
