Jeanne M. Kuzara
Jeanne M. Kuzara, 58, of Carpentersville, died Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born on September 19, 1943 in Chicago, to Walter J. and Mary (nee Cunningham) Devereux.
Jeanne was a member of the Lion's Club of Carpentersville.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis M.; her children, Vincent (Jamie) Kuzara of Carpentersville, Shannon Kuzara of Elgin, Kenneth Kuzara of Carpentersville; sisters, Maureen (Bill) Kerth of Schaumburg, Pat Rutz of River Forest; brothers, the Reverend Peter Devereux of Chicago and Jack Devereux of Utica, Michigan; and two grandsons, Dakari and David of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral and Interment will be private.

Kenneth H. Menke
Kenneth H. Menke, 79 of Elgin passed away Monday, September 2, 2002 at Sherman West Court, Elgin. He was born October 2, 1922 in East Dundee the son of Edwin and Frieda Thies Menke. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School in East Dundee and was a graduate of Dundee High School 1940. He then attended the University of Illinois graduating in 1947 with a degree in Education. While at the University of Illinois he was a member of the Whiz Kids basketball team. Upon graduation he played for the Fort Wayne-Zollner Pistons on the NBA. He officiated high school basketball games for 16 years in northern Illinois.
He taught and coached at Corpus Christi High School in Galesburg and Galesburg High School. He then joined his father and brother in Menke Brothers Builders in the Dundee area. Most recently was a bailiff at the Kane County Court House before retiring in 1990.
He was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army with the 193rd field Artillery Battalion serving in the European Theatre Operations.
He was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church (Formerly Faith United Meth.) He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was a former member of Elks Lodge 737 of Elgin. He was a member of the Illinois Alumni Association. He was inducted into the University of Illinois Hall of Fame.

Sept. 22, 1978 daughter - Charlotte (Lee) Eskildsen of Elgin, sons - Scott (Cinda) Menke of Elgin, Mark (Julie) Menke of Crystal Lake, 4 grandchildren - Joshua and Laura and Bryan and Kyle, 2 step sons - Gordon (Gidget) Bazsali of Hampshire, Bruce (Cathy) Bazsali of Elk Grove Village, 6 step grandchildren - Rob, Colin (Alissa) Bazsali, Jennifer (Robert) Atkinson, Perry (Megan), Jeremy (Amy), and Amber Borgert, 6 step great grandsons - Jake and Ryan Atkinson, Skylar, Lilly, Zach and Alexis Borgert, 1 brother - Richard (RuthMary) Menke of East Dundee and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife - Betty Naker Menke on July 27, 1976 sister and brother in law - Ruth and Herb Esh step son-Douglas Bazsali.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Paul Meyers officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township 21 N. Washington St., Carpentersville, 60110 or the charity on ones choice.
Kirsten A. Mutehart
Kirsten A. Mutehart, 5, of Gilberts, IL passed away Monday in her home. She was born June 5, 1997 in Hoffman Estates, IL and was the daughter of Jerry and Rita (Klaras) Mutehart.
She is survived by her parents of Gilberts, IL; maternal grandmother, Darlene Klaras of Elgin; paternal grandparents, John and Patricia Mutehart of Elgin; and many close family and friends.
preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, James Klaras in 1991.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. 3rd St., West Dundee, IL. Funeral services will be held on Monday in St. James, MN with burial to follow. Ruth C. Puckett
Ruth C. Puckett, 72, of Elgin, passed away Monday, August 26, 2002 at Sherman West Court, Elgin. She was born December 24, 1929 in Hamilton County, Illinois, the daughter of Jesse and Fedora Corn Marquis.
She had been a resident of Elgin for the past 52 years. She had been employed by Brody Coat Company and Motorola before retiring. She was a Loyal and avid Cubs fan.
Surviving are: one daughter, Pamela (Clarence) Heine of Elgin; one son, Dennis (Christine) Puckett of Elgin; five grandchildren, Erich and Meghan Heine, Bryan, Jenni and Patrick Puckett; two sisters, Avis Shaw of Thompsonville, IL and Virginia Jones of Benton, IL; one brother, David (Evelyn) Marquis of Macedonia, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Puckett on January 1, 1970; two sisters, Dana Darnell and Hazel Auten; two brothers, Eugene and Guy Marquis.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 7, 2002 at 3:30PM at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Elgin with Reverend Thomas O'Connor officiating. Burial will be private in Brady cemetery, Akin, IL. Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00PM until the time of services in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul's United Church of Christ or St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
Loretta M. Quirin
Loretta M. Quirin, 78 of Elgin, passed away Monday, September 2, 2002 in her home. She was born May 2, 1924 in Elgin, the daughter of Paul and Eleanor Reinert Quirin. She had been a resident of Elgin all her life. She had been employed by D.C. Cook Publishing Co., the Elgin Case Factory and then the Elgin Metal Casket Co. as an Executive Secretary before retiring.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin. She was also a member of the St. Mary's Womens Club.
Surviving are her sister-in-law, Irma Quirin of Madison, Wisc; a niece, Rev. Aimee (Michael) Quirin Wollman of Chippewa Falls, Wisc.; a nephew, Paul (Ruby) Quirin of Richfield, Minn; great nephews; several cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Paul Quirin Jr. in infancy and Edward Quirin.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 6, 2002 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass in the church.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Leonarda L. Skibbe
Leonarda L. Skibbe, age 87, of Elgin, IL died Sunday, Sept. 1, at Maple Care Center, Elgin. Born, June 15, 1915 in Chicago to Louis & Valarie (Klucznick) Price. She had retired from General Molded Products in Des Plaines.
Survivors include 3 sons; Ronald (Eva) Skibbe of Elgin, Arthur (Shirley) Skibbe of Wynne, Arkansas and Harry L. (Deborah) Skibbe of Tampa, Florida; a daughter, Marlene (George Russell) Conditto of Herderson, Nevada, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry L. on Sept. 9,1978; a son in infancy and a sister, Genevieve Jacubick.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, Sept. 7, at 10 A.M.. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Chapel - Elgin, IL. Rev. Mona Walker of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Memory Gardens cemetery in Arlington Hts. Visitation will be on Friday, Sept. 6 between 4-8pm at the chapel. Raymond D. Stevens
Raymond D. Stevens, 80, of Somonauk, Illinois, died Monday, September 2, 2002 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. He was born December 16, 1921 in Chicago and was the son of Robin and Lillian (Suppes) Stevens.
He married
Marie Lohr and Laveta Letterman. They both preceded him in death.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps., and a member of the Yorkville VFW, the Somonauk American Legion and the Experimental Aviation Association. He enjoyed music, big bands and airplanes. He was also a member of the Union Congregational Church in Somonauk.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 6, 2002 at Union Congregational Church in Somonauk, with Rev. James Gottwald officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery in Sandwich. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, September 5, 2002 at the Turner Funeral Home in Somonauk.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donors choice.
He is survived by a son, Allen Stevens of Somonauk; a beloved friend, Gloria Dean; many grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was step-father to Robert (Joan) Creed; and also the five Pender children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives; and a brother, Robert Stevens.

Hazel A. Collin
Hazel A. Collin, 91 of Lakewood, Ohio formerly of Elgin passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2003 in West Lake, Ohio. She was born July 19, 2003 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of James and Eva Bryan Amis. She had been a resident of Elgin for many years.
She was a member of First Congregational Church of Elgin. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the White Shrine.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Sterricker; her son, Michael Collin, eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Vera Zellers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John W. Collin; her son, John Collin.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2003 at First Congregational Church, 256 E. Chicago St., Elgin. Burial will be private in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
Gertrude (Trudy) Gromer
Gertrude (Trudy) Gromer, aged 89 of Grand Rapids, MI and formerly of Elgin, died Monday, September 1, 2003.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian and her brother, Harold.
Surviving are her children, John and Linda Gromer of Grand Rapids, and Gary and Judy Gromer of Austin, TX; her grandchildren, Mike, Karen, Stephanie, and Paul; her brother, Charles (Coralyn) Radatz of Lewiston, MN; her special friend, Eddie Gathman of Cerritos, CA.
Trudy was president of Church Women United in Grand Rapids and was selected as Michigan's Mother of the Year.
Funeral services will be held on Friday in Calvary Church, 777 East Beltline, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Church, O.D.V. Fund or Church Women United.
Edith E. Johnson
A memorial service for Edith E. Johnson, 98, of New Florence, MO, formerly of Troy, will be held at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 9 at McCoy & Blossom Funeral Home in Troy. Rev. Don Harman will officiate. Interment will follow in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin, IL.
Mrs. Johnson died Friday, August 29, 2003 at New Florence Nursing Home.
Born September 13, 1904 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of George and Matilda (Hegedorn) Kecker. She met and later married
Ray Vollman on May 7, 1927. He preceded her in death in April 1929. She later married
Paul L. Johnson, Sr. on August 12, 1947. He preceded her in death in June 1985.
Mrs. Johnson had retired from the Elgin National Watch Co. in Elgin, IL. She had been a member of the Daughters of the Nile and Bethlehem Swedish Evangelical Church in Elgin.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Betty (Edward) Kruck of Sun City, AZ; one stepson, Paul (Sue) Johnson of Troy; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; three sisters; four brothers; and other relatives.
There will be no visitations.
