Douglas D. Prickett
passed away September 8, at age 85 in Medford, Oregon. Born in Crystal Lake, Illinois. He lived most of his life in Elgin where he was a U.S. Postal Service Letter Carrier for 33 years.
preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years Dorothy (Althen) Prickett.
He leaves behind two children, John of Belvidere, Illinois and Pat Prickett of San Jose, California; two grandsons, Jeff and Andy Prickett of Elgin and six great-grandchildren in Elgin.
A family only service was held at their final resting place in Napa Valley Memorial Park, Napa, California.
Geraldine L. Szczepanski
Geraldine L. Szczepanski, 70 of Carpentersville died Sunday, September 16, 2001 at the St. Mary Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. She was born in Chicago on July 20, 1931. She was the daughter of Stanley & Victoria (nee Lewandowski) Broud. She was a 43 year resident of Carpentersville. She was an avid Bingo Player and Bingo Volunteer at Carpentersville VFW 5915. She was active with the Carpentersville VFW 5915 and Ladies Auxiliary 5915.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert J. They married
on May 24, 1952. Five sons; Robert Jr. (Robin) of Twin Lakes, Wayne (Linda) of Lockport, Stan ( Patti) of Crystal Lake, Jeff (Marci) of Kingston and Mike (Maria) of Cincinnati, Ohio. Grandmother of Melissa (Derek) Spiegelberg, Jason, Brian, Amanda, Kristina, Elizabeth, Megan, and Danielle Szczepanski. Great grandmother of Katrina and Kyler. One sister, Arlene (Joe) Gaffrig of Antioch; One brother, Rondald (Judy) Broud of New Lenox. Many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Mark J. Szczepanski on February 12, 2001.
Funeral services will be on Thursday at 9:15am in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee with prayers to St. Monica Church of Carpentersville for mass at 10:00am. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3-9pm in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Lotte F. Dziewior, age 61, of Carpentersville, died September 17, 2002.
Survived by her husband, Robert G.; one son, Robert; two daughters, Grace and Annette; grandmother of six.

Isabelle Nelson, 85, of Elgin passed away Saturday, September 14, 2002 in her home.
She was born June 22, 1917 in Chicago, IL, and was the daughter of Thomas and Iva (Slattery) Newcomb. Member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall of Elgin.
Survivors include two children, Judith Ann Rode of McHenry, IL, Robert (Judy) Nelson of South Elgin, IL, 13 grandchildren: Donald (Theresa) Rode, Judith Ann (Bryce) Smith, Cheri Martin, Allan (Sheri) Rode, James (Jeni) Rode, Michael Rode, Randall (Christy) Nelson, Jennine (Tim) Schabb, Jill LoBianco and Robbie Nelson; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Sturgeon of TN.
preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman W. Nelson in 1992; four brothers and a sister.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at 7 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 PM until the time of services in the funeral home. Kathleen Marie Newton
Kathleen Marie Newton, 59, formerly of Elgin, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2002. She was born January 9, 1943 in Chicago, IL. and was the daughter of Thomas and Eileen (Keefe) Green.
Kathleen was the owner and operator of the Pampered Bow Wow in Winter Park, FL. for 27 years. She was an avid Bowler, and was the Captain of her team for 25 years.
Survivors include one son, Kristopher Newton of Naperville, IL.; three sisters, Patricia McGee of Duluth, MN., Mary (Tom) Grudnowski of Deephaven, MN. and Nancy (Craig) Nesper of Bartlett, IL.; 20 nieces and nephews; and many close family and friends.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2002 from 4-7:00 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private in Mt. Hope cemetery in Elgin.

Grace L. Rabe
Grace L. Rabe, 71, of Crystal Lake, formerly of Elgin, passed away Monday, September 16, 2002, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
She was born March 13, 1931 in Arcola, Illinois, the daughter of E. Ray and Ruth Gammill Hill. She was a resident of Elgin most of her life, moving to Crystal Lake in 2000. She was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1949. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elgin. She did volunteer work with the soup kitchen, caring ministries and mistletoe mart at the church.
Surviving are three children: Donald (Susan) Rabe of Carpentersville; Mary (Scott) Harvey of Crystal Lake; Ronald (Lisa) Rabe of Genoa; nine grandchildren; three brothers: Lowell (Helen) Hill of Sycamore; Thomas (Darlene) Hill of Blue Eye, Missouri; Carl (Tressie) Hill of Blue Eye Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John F. Rabe; two brothers, Donald and Elmer Hill.
Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11:00am at First United Methodist Church, Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Friday from 10:30am until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church or Provena St. Joseph Hospice.
Sarah E. Detwiler
Sarah E. Detwiler, 90, of Elgin, formerly of Bethalto, Ill., passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2001 in the Manor Care Health Services, Elgin.
She was born Nov. 13, 1910 in Los Angeles, Calif., the daughter of Albert and Nora Austin Winninger.
She had been a resident of Bethalto for 30 years and had been a resident of Elgin for the past five years.
Survivors include two daughters, Dolores (Marshall) Schneider of West Dundee and Marjorie (LeRoy) Ducommun of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Jerry Schneider of Mukwonago, Wis., Ron (Celia) Schneider of Lone Tree, Colo. and Carol Woodbury of Camden, Maine; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Austin Schneider.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Detwiler; a son, Robert Detwiler; and a brother, Albert Winninger.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday in the chapel of Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Bethalto, Ill. Laird Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.
Rayette J. Hoambrecker
Rayette J. Hoambrecker, age 58, of Elgin passed away Monday, September 17, 2001 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Born September 23, 1942 in Chicago, IL to Raymond and Ethel (nee Six) Kane. She was a homemaker.
Survived by her husband of 39 years, Dennis; five sons, Matthew (Wendy) Hoambrecker of Elgin, David Hoambrecker of DeKalb, Daniel Hoambrecker of Elgin, Timothy Hoambrecker of Elgin and Adam Hoambrecker of Elgin; two daughters, Catherine (Paul) Beal of Belvidere and Sandra Hoambrecker of Elgin; also three grandchildren, Jackie, Erik and Emily Beal.

John Warren Cremeens
John Warren Cremeens, 76, of Elgin, IL died Wednesday, September 18 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born December 10, 1925 in West Frankfort, IL to Hubbard and Georgia Phillips Cremeens.
He had served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater, had been employed as an Examiner for the Secretary of State of Illinois for 28 years. For 12 years he was an official starter at Wing Park Golf Course; was a member of American Legion Post #57 for over 50 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Begalka) Cremeens of Elgin; two sons, Thomas M. and Jeffrey S. (Judy) Cremeens both of Elgin; two brothers, Don of Elgin and Jesse of Benton, IL; grandchildren, Danielle (Tom) Sedam of Dayton, OH, Nicole and Brian of Elgin; a great-grandchild, Dylan Sedam.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and four sisters.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 21 at 12 Noon at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel.

Archie Ray Linn
Archie Ray Linn, 67, of Coello, IL, passed away Sept. 17, 2002, at 8:06 p.m. at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Ill. He was born July 19, 1935, in Benton, Ill., son of the late Thomas Archie Linn and Mary Lou (Mandrell) Linn.
He was united in marriage to Martha June (Sisney) Linn on Oct. 16, 1992. He was an Army Veteran, serving in Korea and was employed at the St. Charles Boys Home.
Survivors include his wife; six children: Archie R. (Leila) Linn Jr. of Caledonia, Ill., Lou (James) Galloway of Coello, Ill., Fred (Christania) Draper III of Ten Mile, Tenn., Susan (Jim) Lance of Boonville, Ind., Mary (Maurice) Gray of Coello, Ill. and Samantha Draper of Coello, Ill.; two grandchildren, Archie Linn III and Necole Linn; 17 step-grandchildren; one sister, Madge Young of Sparta, Tenn. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, Ill. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery in Mulkeytown, Ill. The body will lie in state at the Gilbert Funeral Home after 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Velma G. Koyn
Velma G. Koyn, 91, of South Elgin passed away Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Alderwood Health Care Center, South Elgin. She was born June 15, 1912 in Elgin the daughter of Albert and Jenny Mengler. She had been a resident of the Elgin area all of her life. She had been employed by Provena St. Joseph Hospital before retiring.
Surviving are her two grandchildren, Daniel (Deann) Koyn of St. Louis, MO and Kathryn (Kevin) Davidson of Plano, Texas; four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter A. Koyn in 1976; and son, Daniel W. Koyn.
Funeral services Saturday, September 20 at 2:30 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of services.
Russell James Martin
Russell James Martin, 86, of Willow Lake Estates, Elgin died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at his home. He was born in Chicago on April 4, 1917, the son of Russell J., Jr. and Marion T. (nee Flannery) Martin. Mr. Martin was a resident of Willow Lake Estates for the past 24 years. He retired after 27 years from Kinkead Industries, a subsidiary of United States Gypsum. During his employ, Mr. Martin worked in a variety of managerial and administrative positions. He and his wife enjoyed their retirement and traveled through 48 of the 50 states. They enjoyed spending time with their family and friends. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and a member of the church's Pinochle Club.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen (nee Riley) Martin; their children, Katherine (Richard) Corbett of Sleepy Hollow, Daniel (Katherine "Kit") Martin fo South Lyon, Michigan and Terrence (Cheryl) Martin of Lombard. Mr. Martin was the proud grandfather of James, Thomas (Angela) and Amy Corbett and Ashley and Alyssa Martin and great-grandfather of Carinna and Thomas Corbett, Jr. and Sjalynn Kennedy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends will meet for Funeral Mass on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. The Rev. Richard A. Rosinski, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the All Saints cemetery, Des Plaines. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Saturday in the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, masses would be appreciated or memorials to the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee.
George Charles Meadows

George Meadows, at the age of 75, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marian; his daughter, Frances (Kip) Husmann from Kansas; two sons, George Cy of Missouri and William (Karyn) from California. He was four grandsons, Benjamin, Kevin, and Thomas Husmann from Kansas, and Devin Meadows from California.
George was a devoted husband and loving father. He served God, country, family and friends tirelessly. As a member of Grace United Methodist Church, he served God through teaching Sunday School, being a board member, acting as a trustee, serving as a lay leader, the treasurer, and the finance chairman. He attended Bible Study and within the past couple months, he went on a mission trip to Haiti to help reroof a church.
He loved our country and served in the Army. George was a retired Colonel in the Army having served over 30 years in a combination of active and reserve status. He graduated with the class of 1974 from the Army War College and taught at the US Army Engineer School. His latest active duty was to serve at Great Lakes during the Vietnam Conflict. He was an active member in the American Legion and the Sons of Union Veterans.
He was active politically and a member of the Republican Party having served as a Precinct Committeeman, State Convention delegate, the Township Auditor of Eglin for eight years and the Township Supervisor for a short period of time. George obtained a BS from Coe College, MA from University of Iowa and almost completed his doctorate.
George's primary civilian career was in teaching and he taught all ages and served as principal for McKinley, Garfield, and Woodland Heights Schools. His second civilian career was as the owner and primary operator of ACE Blacktop Company.
His family recalls that he was always there for them, and his friends recall that he would always go the extra mile and help in whatever way he could.
Other community activities included over 24 years of service to the Boy Scouts in various capacities including Scout Master, troop committeeman, institutional representative, and counselor for a number of merit badges.
Conservation was a keen interest and he was a lifetime member of the Izaak Walton League.
Visitation will be at Madison Funeral Home in Elgin on Friday, September 19 from 5-9 p.m., and the funeral will be at Grace Methodist Church in Elgin on Saturday, at 10 a.m. His final resting place will be Bluff City cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the George C. Meadows Memorial Fund.
