Edward W. Kross
Edward W. Kross, 81 of Elgin died September 14, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita Porter; four children, Robert, Linda Williams, Frank (Brenda) and Wendy; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his former wife, Irene Kross.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Carrie Kross; one grandson.
A memorial open house will be held September 23 from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the American Legion, 820 N. Liberty St., Elgin, IL. Please join us to reminisce and celebrate his life.

Nora M. Martin
Nora M. Martin, age 94, of Elkhorn, WI, died Saturday, September 20, 2003 at Ridge Stone Village in Delavan. She was born June 26, 1909 in Elgin, IL, the daughter of William and Emma Harmening. Nora married
Leslie Martin on Nay 6, 1926 and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1993.
Nora and her husband were charter members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Elgin, IL and then members of Bethel United Methodist Church in Elkhorn. Nora enjoyed family, camping, traveling, and took pride in her flower gardens.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn (William) Yurs of Elkhorn and Ann Flint of Billings, MT, one son, Dean Martin of Scottsdale, AZ, nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Nora was the youngest of eight children and was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Eugene W. in infancy and Leslie Jr. of Hampshire, IL.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at the Bethel United Methodist Church, rural Elkhorn. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Rev. Joyce Rich will be officiating at the service. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Tibbets, WI.
Memorials may be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church or Lakeland Hospice.

Clyde H. Darnell
Clyde H. Darnell, 66, of Hampshire passed away Friday, September 20, 2002 on his birthday at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
He was born September 20, 1936 in Benton, IL, the son of Clyde and Helen (Humes) Darnell.
Clyde married
Patricia J. Salisbury on July 21, 1956 in Elgin. Mr. Darnell was employed for 40 years in auto sales, retiring from Fenzel Motors in Hampshire in 2001. His favorite activities were his home and family life, fishing, aviation and sports.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Pat Darnell; children, Tim Darnell of Bartlett, LuAnn Darnell of Washington, D.C. and John (Karen) Darnell of Lake in the Hills; four grandchildren, Sydney, Xoie, Tyler and Collin; two brothers, Dik and Thomas Darnell both of Colorado; and his loyal dog, Maggie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters.
Private family services will be held in his home.
Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to WGN's Neediest Kids Fund.

Erna Lindorfer
Erna Lindorfer, 92, of Elgin passed away Friday, September 20, 2002 at Sherman West Court.
She was born June 2, 1910 in Courtland, MN, the daughter of William and Dora Todt Hulke.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Elgin.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy (Ron) Fritz and Kay Lindorfer, both of Elgin; granddaughter, Melissa (Larry) Kurek; grandson, Eric Fritz, both of Elgin; great granddaughter Lacie Kurek; great grandson, Trevor Kurek; six sisters, Dorothy Olson of Elgin, Delores Starba of St. Charles, Marcell Hulke of IN, Helen Walters of Plano, Larraine (Loyal) Humbracht of IN and Ruth (Frank) Pogoda of FL; and five brothers, Loren Hulke of Iowa, Walter Hulke of MN, Stanley (Ruth) Hulke, Delbert (Betty) Hulke and Richard (Margie) Hulke, all of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ervin on September 29, 2001 after 68 years of marriage; a sister; and four brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM Monday, September 23, 2002 in the Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin with Reverend Martin Balzer officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Sunday in the funeral home.
Victor J. Wuerstl, Jr.
Victor J. Wuerstl, Jr., 55, of Sleepy Hollow, died Saturday, September 20, 2003 at the Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Dayton, OH on October 7, 1947, the son of Victor J., Sr. and Margaret (nee Lackey) Wuerstl. Mr. Wuerstl was a 14 year resident of the Sleepy Hollow area. He was employed by SBC.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years: Shirley L. (nee Hutzel) Wuerstl. They married
on June 14, 1975. One son, Victor J., III (Terri) of Columbus, OH and one daughter: Katie at home. One granddaughter: Jessica and one grandson: Nicholas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Monday from 5-9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Funeral Services and interment will be on Thursday in Ohio.
Richard Gierens
Richard Gierens, 60, of Elgin passed away Saturday, September 21, 2002 at Maplewood Health Care Center.
He was born January 30, 1942 in Elgin, the son of Richard and Florence Kruse Gierens.
Survivors include his parents; and a loving friend, Arlene Berry of Chicago.
Private Services will be held at Madison Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private at Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin.
There will be no visitation.

Linda Ochoa
Linda Ochoa, 73, of Elgin passed away Saturday, September 21, 2002 at her home.
She was born April 28, 1929 in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Louis and Ruth Reyes Senteno.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elgin and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of the church.
Survivors include two daughters, Loraine (Randy) Holman of CA and Barbara (Don) Waterman of Elgin; a son, Michael Ochoa of CA; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Casias of CA and Marie Podlas of NV; and two brothers, Ricardo Senteno of NM and Louis Senteno of CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 10 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin.

Deborah Walton
Deborah Walton, 45, of South Elgin, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. She was born January 22, 1957 in Elgin, the daughter of Harley and Virginia Dahlstrom Stonum.
Survivors include two sisters, Cheryl (David) Glomp of WI, Sandra (Gerald) Christenson of Genoa; one brother, William Stonum of Kingston; dear friend Charles Lichthardt of South Elgin; and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at 10AM at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8PM at Madison Funeral Home.

Chauncey "C.J." Fowler, Jr.
Chauncey Fowler Jr. "C.J.", 77, of Elgin passed away Sunday, September 21, 2003 at his home. He was born September 1, 1926 in Elgin and was the son of Chauncey and Alice (Rahn) Fowler. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1944. He was a United States Navy Veteran, having served aboard a P.T. boat Squadron in the South Pacific during W.W.II. He was recalled during the Korean War and served aboard the USS Gallup. He was united in marriage to Ruth Bennett on October 22, 1949.
He worked in sales management for over 30 years for Cla-Val Co. before retiring. He was a long time member of the Methodist faith. He was a 50 year member of Elgin Lodge No. 117 AF & AM, a member of the Scottish Rite of Chicago, the Tebala Temple and EL Bekal Shrine Temple, a member of American Water Works Association, and a member of Golden K Kiwanis Club as well as several other service organizations.
Surviving are three daughters, Sharon (Dave) O'Hara of Elgin, Karen (Ron) Morse of Rochester, MN, Cynthia (Paul) Mellen of Elgin; one son, Craig (Lynn) Fowler of Rice Lake, WI; six grandchildren, Mandy, Brian, Glenn, David, Carlton, and Andrew; three great-grandchildren, Seth, Aiden and Angela; one brother, Richard (Betty) Fowler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth on August 26, 1990; one brother, Lamont "Monty".
Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 25 at 10:00 a.m. in the Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Sung-Ja Lee Moon officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. Marilyn R. Miller
Marilyn R. Miller (68) of Sycamore, formerly of Crystal Lake, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2003 at her home. She was born on June 25, 1935 in Madison, MO, the daughter of Chester and Nellie (Summers) Carrell. She married
Edwin A. Miller on August 26, 1950 in St. Louis, MO. Marilyn was employed at Eagle Foods in Crystal Lake for 26 years, and was a member of the Sun City West Assembly of God, and was also a member of various bowling and golfing leagues, and the Quilting Club.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin; her children, Edwin (Mary) Miller, Jr. of Elgin, Sherry (Rev. Michael) Massey of Sycamore, and Terry W. (Mary) Miller of Cary, IL; twelve grandchildren, Jesse, Adam, Lauren, Lindsay, Lucas and Aimee Miller, Eric (Kristin) Massey and Audra Massey, Anna, Megan and Katie Miller; one sister, Dorothy Ball of Huntsville, MO; one brother, Donald Carrell of Apache Jct., AZ; several nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Glad Tidings Assembly of God with her son-in-law Rev. Michael Massey officiating. Richard H. Pacchini
Richard H. Pacchini, 66, of Sleepy Hollow died Monday, September 22, 2003 at his home. He was born in Chicago on January 10, 1937.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Muriel (nee Hartung) Pacchini, whom he married
on February 25, 1961; his aunt, Florence Antos of Vero Beach, FL; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Maurice (Ruth) Hartung of Ogden, Kansas; a nephew, Kevin Hartung of Ogden, Kansas. His son also survives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Pacchini; his mother, Angelina Rakouska; his daughter, Sherry L. DiBenedetto on October 1, 1987.
Family and friends will meet for Funeral Mass on Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. The Rev. Richard A. Rosinski, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Wednesday in church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Samantha Grace Snyder
Samantha Grace Snyder, age 5, of Aurora passed away Saturday, September 20, 2003 at her residence. She was born May 15, 1998 in Aurora, IL, the daughter of Mark and Lisa (Smith) Snyder.
She is survived by her parents; two sisters, Christine and Heather; paternal grandparents Leo and Nancy Snyder of South Elgin; maternal grandmother Evelyn Smith of Arkansas and also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Phil Smith.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 25, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Warehouse Church, 308 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora, IL with Rev. Randy Schoof officiating. Burial will follow at River Hills cemetery in Batavia. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 24 from 3-9 p.m. at the Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St. (Rt. 38) Geneva.

Robert H. Tuite
Robert H. Tuite, age 83, of Elgin died Sunday, September 7, 2003 at Sherman Hospital. He was born in Galesburg, IL on October 1, 1919, the son of Henry and Ida M. Tuite.
He married
Virginia I. Neuschwanger on January 1, 1943 and she preceded him in death on May 31, 2003.
Robert worked for the Milwaukee Railroad and the American President Lines for 40 plus years. He was a Veteran of W.W.II, serving in the Army. He was active in Jr. Achievement in Chicago and was also an Election Judge. Robert was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include a daughter, Penny (Denny) Lee of Elgin; a son, Thomas Tuite of Mt. Carroll, IL; five grandchildren, Chris (Peggy) Lee, Tracy (Pat) Gerdau, Lori (Tim) Stone, Jenny (Vince) Cox, and Sarah Tuite; seven great-grandchildren, Megan, Aaron, Abbey, Heather, Andrew, Stefani, Rachael; two step-great-grandchildren, J.J. and Jimmy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stephen R. Tuite; his loving wife, Virginia.
