Mae Kolb
Mae Kolb, 69, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001 in her home.
She was born Oct. 21, 1931 in Chicago, the daughter of Paul and Lillian Schoon.
She was member of Zion Lutheran Church, Elgin.
Survivors include two daughters, Pam (Michael) Ledbetter of Elgin and Sharon Kolb; a son, Michael Kolb, both of Arizona; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters; and a brother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Evans.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday in the Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin, the Rev. Steve Kottke officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home.

Eleanor M. Nolte
Eleanor M. Nolte, 84, of Ottawa, formerly of Sleepy Hollow, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001 in Community Hospital of Ottawa.
She was born Mar. 12, 1916 in Winona, Minn., the daughter of Albert J. and Martha B. (Renk) Miller.
She married Kenneth Nolte on June 12, 1948. She taught at St. Catherine of Siena Grade School in West Dundee. She was a member of the American Teacher Association; St. Catherine of Sienna; and the Alter & Rosary Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha (Charles) Seed of Ottawa; a son, Michael Nolte of Makaha, Hawaii; and a grandson, Jason Nolte of Ottawa.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and James Miller.
Memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Friday in St. Catherine of Siena Church, the Rev. Richard Rosinski officiating. Graveside services will follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens.
There will be no visitation. Ottawa Funeral Home, Ottawa, Ill. is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Dale H. Osborne
Dale H. Osborne, 90 of Marengo, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001 at Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry.
He was born in Mahomet, Ill. on June 22, 1910, the son of Richard and Grace (McNeish) Osborne.
He married Janet P. Isett in Dubuque, Iowa on June 7, 1940. He was a veteran of the United States Navy CB's during WWII Pacific Theater. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1928 and was a lifelong member of Marengo United Methodist Church. In 1948 he graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science. He's been a licensed funeral director since 1949. He operated the Osborne Funeral Home in Marengo from 1953 to 1974. He worked for McGill's from the early 1940's to 1976.
He was a former member of the Marengo VFW (Now the Woodstock VFW Post), former Marengo Grade School Board Member and member of the McHenry County Historical Society. He was a volunteer telephone answerer for the Marengo Recue Squad and Fire Dept. for many years.
Survivors include his children, Paula (George) Bauman of Marengo, Betty (Ron) Wanless of Springfield; his grandchildren, Mark (Heather) Wanless, Chad Wanless, Kelly Wanless, Sarah Bauman, Colin Bauman and Brittany Bauman; a great-granddaughter, Madison Wanless; and a sister, Elsie Mueller of Marengo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; and five brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday in the Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy., Marengo. Interment will be in Marengo City cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Marengo United Methodist Church, Zion Lutheran Church or the McHenry County Historical Society.

Edmund Przyborski
Edmund Przyborski, 74, Carpentersville, died January 28, 2001, at his home in Carpentersville, IL.
Mr. Przyborski was born January 30, 1926 in Chicago, IL, the son of Edmund and Helen Becker Przyborski. He was in the U.S. Navy, in medical transportation. He was a member of the VFW in Carpentersville. He worked in a cemetery and owned his own business and repaired starters and alternators.
Survivors include: his wife, Gloria; eight children: David (Pat) Pekala of Crete, Donna (Bruce) Christensen of Minnesota, Douglas (Barb) Vaughn of South Elgin, William Vaughn of Carpentersville, Debbie (Bob) Ebert of Carpentersville, Frank Vaughn of Wisconsin, Darlene (David) Fay of Missouri, and Dale Vaughn of Carpentersville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Rose of Lansing, a sister, Bernie Jendras of Nevada, and a sister-in-law, Carol Przyborski of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Henry.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. on Friday at the Stout-Madison Funeral Home, 252 S. State St., Elgin, IL. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Shirley A. Goodiell
Shirley A. Goodiell, 72, of Elgin passed away January 29, 2002 at Vencore Hospital, Sycamore, after an extended illness. She was born July 7, 1929, the daughter of Forrest and Florence Conrad Brunner. She was a life-long resident of Elgin and had been employed as the Head Cook at Mary Margaret Manor in Elgin for 10 years before retiring.
Surviving are two daughters, Paula Davidson and Karen (James) Thomson of Elgin; a son, Walter (Linda) Goodiell of Lawton, OK; a sister, Janet Brunner of Elgin and two grandchildren, Jill and Sara Thomson of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter F. Goodiell in 1985 and three brothers, Forrest, Wayne and Robert Brunner.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 1, 2002 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Funeral services and burial will be Private.

Robert Haas
Robert Haas, 101, of Elgin died Saturday, January 26, 2002 in the Apostolic Christian Rest Haven Nursing Home. He was born June 7, 1900 in Germany and was the son of George and Christina Haas. He had been a resident of Elgin before moving to Morton, IL for 25 years, returning to Elgin in 1991.
Member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin.
Surviving are six daughters, Margaret (Earl) Zeltwanger of Bremen, IN, Mary Baumgartner of Palos Verdes Estates, CA, Ruth (Richard) Gralow of Palos Verdes Estates, CA, Milli (Paul) Leman of Geneva, IL, Gert (Jim) Carius of Morton, IL and Ann (Richard) Shors of Cut Bank, MT; three sons, Richard (Gudrun) Haas of Naperville, IL, Robert (Carole) Haas of Willcox, AZ and Paul Haas of Willcox, AZ; 32 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret in 1996; a sister, Marie and three brothers, Fred, George and Herman.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 A.M. in the Apostolic Christian Church. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Church cemetery. Visitation will be in the Laird Funeral Home on Thursday, January 31, 2002 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and then at the church on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Apostolic Christian Rest Haven Nursing Home, 2750 W. Highland Ave., Elgin, IL 60123.

Richard B. "Dick" Happ
Richard B. "Dick" Happ, 64, of Genoa, passed away suddenly Tuesday, January 29, 2002 in his home.
He was born January 7, 1938 in Buffalo Grove, IL, the son of William and Leona (Weidner) Happ. He was a 1956 graduate of Arlington High School and worked 17 years as a mechanic for Lattof Chevrolet of Arlington Heights. He also farmed in Buffalo Grove before moving to Genoa Township where he has farmed the past 15 years.
Dick was a very active member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Hampshire serving on the finance board and as an usher. He was also a member of the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club.
Surviving are his wife, Gloria J. (Streetz) Happ, whom he married October 18, 1980 in Buffalo Grove; three children, Stacia at Northern Illinois University, Richard "Rick" at Kishwaukee College and Jena at home; a sister, Ann (Fred) Hildebrandt of South Beloit and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 1, 2002 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson St., Hampshire with the Rev. Joseph P. Nicolosi officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire, with prayers for the Christian wake at 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the American Heart Association.

Rosalee V. Tobin
Rosalee V. Tobin, 81, of West Dundee, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2002 at Sherman Hospital. She was born on November 26, 1920 in Evanston, Illinois to Joseph and Margaret (Reidy) Lux.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Tom) Griffith Williams of Elgin and Jamie Griffith McClellen of Chicago; three step-daughters, Marcia Vanden Heuvel of Tucson, Arizona, Janice Rose of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Terrie (Jim) Totemeier of Spruce Pine, North Caroline; one step-son, Timothy Tobin of Miami, Florida; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Hammer of Orland Park; two brothers, Joseph Lux of Chicago and George (Shirley) Lux of LaPorte, Indiana; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; her first husband, L. James Griffith and her second husband, Gerald Tobin.
Generous throughout her lifetime, Rosalee chose to donate her remains to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois for the advancement of medical education and research.
A memorial Mass celebrating Rosalee's life will be held at St. Thomas More Church in Elgin at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 2, 2002. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Harry Eugene Thomfohrda
Harry Eugene Thomfohrda, 65, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Woodstock, IL and Gilman, WI, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2003 at his home in Las Vegas, NV. His wife, Jeanne (Lockinger) Thomfohrda, also of Las Vegas, survives him.
Gene was born December 6, 1937 in Algonquin, IL, the son of Harry and Lucille (Macaben) Thomfohrda. On October 1, 1960, he married Jeanne Lockinger in Woodstock. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Gregory and Kenneth.
Gene is also survived by his daughter, Penny Bucholz of Holcombe, WI; his son, Carl Thomfohrda of Centuria, WI; his five grandchildren, Joshua and Amanda Bucholz, and Jacob, Brittany and Sierra Thomfohrda; his brother, Willard Thomfohrda of Woodstock, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose for many years. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying the company of friends and family in his numerous bowling leagues, cheering for his children's and grandchildren's teams or simply watching a game on television. He took an interest in the community and spent many hours coaching Little League baseball teams in Illinois and Wisconsin. His greatest pleasure was to spent time with his children and grandchildren.
"No man is useless who has a friend, and if we are loved we are indispensable." (Robert Louis Stevenson). Gene loved and was loved; he was a kind and gentle man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7 PM, on Friday, January 31st, in the Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home in Woodstock, IL. Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 11 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2003 in St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery in Woodstock.

Dorothy E. Bailey
Dorothy E. Bailey, 88, of Elgin, former 18 year resident of Carpentersville, died Thursday, January 29, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born on January 26, 1916 in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of John and Albajorge Kristhanson.
She is survived by her son, Anthony "Tony" of Elgin; her former daughter-in-law and friend, Annabelle Sousa of Orlando, Florida; her grandson, David Bailey of Orlando, Florida; her granddaughter, Rosalind Bailey of Murfreesboro, TN; and her great grandson, Alexander Bailey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony; and her sister, Lillian.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 10 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 to 5 PM in the funeral home. 847-426-3436.

Leonard Earl Blakesley
Leonard Earl Blakesley died on January 16, 2004 in Santa Monica, California.
He was born November 3, 1913 in Hampshire, Illinois and lived in Elgin until he retired in 1976, when he moved with his wife of 68 years, Ella Jane (Smith) Blakesley, to Marina del Rey, California.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel (Wolcott) Blakesley and his father, Earl W. Blakesley, who for many years owned and operated Blakes Lunch on Grove Avenue near the Elgin National Watch Factory.
Mr. Blakesley is survived by his wife, Ella Jane (Smith) Blakesley; two sons, Leonard E. Blakesley, Jr. of Marina del Rey, California and Lance H. Blakesley of Santa Monica, California; a sister, Marion Gathman of Elgin; a cousin, Donald Blakesley, Jr. of Fairfield, California; seventeen nieces and nephews.
Mr. Blakesley was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Santa Monica, California, and a member for more than fifty years of the Elgin Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Private services will be held at the family residence and any letters or notes of condolences may be sent in care of Leonard E. Blakesley, Jr., Post Office Box 12075, Marina del Rey, California 90295.

Dr David BDr. David Bloom
Dr. David Bloom, 86, of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of Elgin, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2004 at Delmar Gardens West in Chesterfield, Missouri. He was born July 11, 1917 in Chicago, the son of Morris and Katie Bloom. He had been a resident of Elgin from 1954 until moving to St. Louis in 1999. He was Chief of the Dental Department at the Elgin Mental Health Care Center before retiring in 1980. He was a graduate of Loyola University and Loyola Dental School. He was a veteran, serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of Congregation Kneseth Israel of Elgin.
Surviving are his two daughters, Miriam Bloom (Ronald Morosan) of New York City and Deborah Bloom (Christopher Carson) of St. Louis, MO; two grandchildren, Naomi Bloom Carson and Ariel Carson; and a brother, Mike Bloom of Los Angeles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice in November of 1997; a sister, Mary; and a brother, Al.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 1, 2004 at 1 PM at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Hazzan M. Alan Smolen officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Elgin Symphony, 20 DuPage Ct., Elgin or the St. Louis Symphony.

Robert Carr Boeckh
Robert Carr Boeckh, 74, died January 28, 2004 at Sherman Hospital after a long illness. He was born January 29, 1929, in Chicago.
Surviving are his wife, June; two daughters, Sandra Lasiowski (Matt) and Donna Sue Vigna (Kenneth); four sons, Robert H. Boeckh, Lester Boeckh (Patti), Patrick Boeckh (Donna) Jean and Kendall Boeckh ( Mary Ann); three step-children, Amy Gardner, Diane Vicars (Larry) and Steven Vehmeier (Georgann) and 21 grandchildren.
Robert served on the Bartlett Police Force and retired from Plote Excavating Co. Most recently he was working for the City of Elgin as a crossing guard at Illinois Park School.
Bob was cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be announced.
