Louis Jerg
Louis Jerg, 97, of West Dundee, died Monday, October 7, 2002 at the Manorcare Rehab Center of Elgin. He was born in Germany on November 21, 1904, the son of Louis and Sophie (nee Reiss) Jerg.
Mr. Jerg was a Prototype Engineer and had previously worked for Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago for 16 years and then for 20 years at the Highland Laboratory in Glendale, California.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Anna Rosa. They married
in Chicago on September 12, 1929. Also by one daughter, Betty (William) Gauthier of Sleepy Hollow; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lily Buck of Germany and Elsie Serger of Yucca Valley, CA.; one brother, Kurt Jerg of Pittsburgh, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and seven brothers and sisters.
There will be no visitation.
Services and Interment will be private.

Jasper "Jay" Piazza
Jasper "Jay" Piazza, age 75, of West Dundee, passed away on Saturday October 5, 2002 at home surrounded by his family. He was born November 29, 1926 in Elgin, IL., the son of Anthony and Jennie (Blandino) Piazza.
He served in the US Army during WWII. He retired from MeLahn Construction Company after many years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #57 of Elgin and The Elks Elgin Lodge #737. He also was a volunteer with the Provena St. Joseph Auxiliary for many years.
Surviving him are two sons, David C. Piazza of Port Charlotte, FL. and Mark (Susan) Piazza of West Dundee; five daughters, Karen E. Piazza of Schaumburg, Nancy (Mike) Kotar of Paradise CA., Marianne (Luke) Fischer of Round Lake Beach, Jayne E. Brown of Waukegan and Jennifer Piazza of West Dundee; one brother, Leonard Piazza of Florida; eleven grandchildren; and a dear friend, Linda Forester.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Jean Ann (Knott) Piazza, whom he married
in 1948 and who died in 1994; and his sister, Laura.
A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, October 10, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, with Rev. Sennen SanFratello officiating. Burial will be private. There will be no Visitation.
The family has requested no flowers.
Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

June M. Wessel
June M. Wessel, 71, of Carpentersville died Monday, October 7, in her home. She was born August 3, 1931 in Chicago, the daughter of Stanley C. & Eleanor F. (nee Baker) Anderson. She was a 43 year resident of Carpentersville and a former 10 year employee of the Albert Peter/Al Piemonte Chevrolet Dealerships.
She is survived by three children: Richard C. (Jan) Wessel of Hampshire, Terry (Ellen) Wessel of Carpentersville and Tami (Lee) Janczewski of Marengo. Four Grandchildren: Kaley, Robert, Mark, and Scott.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert C. "Wes" Wessel on February 24, 1997. They married
on August 18, 1951.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
Suzanne (Althoff) Collins
Suzanne (Althoff) Collins, 66, of Elgin, passed away October 6, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. She was born March 27, 1937 in Kankakee, IL, the daughter of Carl and Nell Althoff. Suzanne graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in education and went on to teach second grade fro several years.
Suzanne was an active community volunteer. She was a former member and past president of Elgin Junior Service Board, a long time member of Elgin Garden Club, Chapter DY of P.E.O., Current History Forum and Sherman Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving are her three children, Wendy (Richard) Smith of Lilburn, GA, Christopher (Gretchen) Collins of Elgin, IL, and Jennifer (Stephen) Frantz of Powell, OH. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Colin and Carl Smith, Justin and Colby Collins, and Samantha Frantz, and a sister, Diane Love of Naples, FL.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 43 years, Richard Collins.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Elgin. The family will be receiving friends at the church at a reception immediately following the service. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greater Chicago Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation in memory of Suzanne Collins.
Adella "Della" Heine (nee Clausing)
Adella "Della" Heine (nee Clausing), 88, of Elgin, IL passed away Sunday, October 5, 2003.
She was born June 7, 1915 in Elk Grove Township, IL.
Adella was a member of Immanual United Church of Christ Church and their Ladies Guild.
She is survived by a son, Ralph (Lorraine) of Palatine; daughters, Marian (Warren) Nessler of Genoa, Elaine (Gerald) Pearson of Hampshire; Karen (Roger) Greatslinger of South Elgin, Sandra (Gary) Schwarz of Elgin, Diane (Rick) Hamilton of East Moline and the late Verona; grandchildren, Robert (Debora) Heine, Susan Driggers, Mollie (Todd) Hughes, Jeff (Laurie) Nessler, Tammy (Dan) Pritt, Penny Pearson, Ted Wyman, Kelly Schwarz, Ryan Schwarz, Brian (Robyn) Hamilton and Chad Hamilton; great grandchildren, Bradley and Ashley Heine, Jeremy, Matthew and Kayley Driggers, Travis, Kevin and Rachel Hughes, Nathan Nessler, Eric, Kevin and Brian Pritt.
Adella was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary (nee Mensching) Clausing; her husband, Arthur H. Heine; and three brothers, Arthur, Emil and Raymond Clausing.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, October 9, 2003 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 1500 Old Church Rd., Streamwood where she will be lying in state from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in the Immanual United Church of Christ cemetery, Streamwood, IL.

Evelyn G. Rogers
Evelyn G. Rogers, 92 of Vero Beach, FL and South Elgin, IL passed away Saturday, October 4, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born December 10, 1910 in Lead, South Dakota, the daughter of Charles and Fannie Sandwick Bartell. She had lived in South Elgin for the past 17 years and Vero Beach for the past 15 years.
Surviving are her husband, Hubert F. Rogers, whom she married
on May 18, 1937; one daughter, Donna R. (Dennis) Green of Vero Beach, FL; one grandson, Daniel Rogers Green of Washington, D.C.; one sister, Joyce (Kenneth) Preszler of Lemon, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Carl, Lennart, Leo, Walter, Floyd and Clayton "Bud" Bartell.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Thomas Niermann officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Joann J. Rounds
Joann J. Rounds, 66, of Port Orange, Florida, formerly of East Dundee, died September 23, 2003 at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach.
She was born November 30, 1936 in Elgin to Robert and Hattie (nee Vollman) Puffpaff. On June 18, 1960, she married
Norman Rounds.
She was employed by W.A. Bakow's and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church before moving to Florida in 1977.
Survivors include her husband, Norman; daughter, Laura Card; grandson, Robert Rounds; a niece and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard; two sisters, Marjorie Saeger and Phyllis Walter.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10 at Dundee Township cemetery East.
Silas S. Austby
Silas S. Austby, 89, of West Dundee, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born October 7, 1913 on the family farm in Ostrander, MN, the son of Swen and Cecelia Swenson Austby.
After the death of his parents, Silas worked as a hired hand on farms and truck driver. He worked building roads for the government CC Camps and was Constable for the town of Ostrander. Silas moved to Illinois and worked for a furniture company. Silas served in the U.S. Army during WW II and returned to Illinois after being wounded in France. He then was employed in the Iron and Bolt Works, Haeger Pottery and retired from school district 300 as a custodian in 1975.
He married
Betty Louise Kamp on August 4, 1949.
He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elgin and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2298 in West Dundee.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda (Joseph) Mason of Elgin; grandchildren, Gregory and Christine Mason of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty on August 25, 1993; three sisters, Lillian Fessenden, Ella Christopherson and Judith Austby; and two brothers, Ervin and Joseph Austby.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St., (Corner of S. Third and Oregon) West Dundee, with Rev. Harvey Feustel officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the West Dundee Paramedics or VFW Post 2298 in West Dundee.
Ilene Marie Buckland
Ilene Marie Buckland, age 64, of Daniels, West Virginia, passed away Sunday October 6, 2002 at her home following a long illness. She was born on June 22, 1938 in Chicago, IL., the daughter of the late Chester and Betty Flenke Johnson.
Mrs, Buckland was of the Baptist faith and had been a resident of Daniels, WV. for the past nine years.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John Buckland; one son, John A. Buckland of St. Charles, IL.; two daughters, Nancy Wauters Schlim and her husband, John W. of St. Charles, IL. and Debbie Rowe and her husband, John Francis of Maple Park, IL.; one brother, Chet Flenke of Alabama; two sisters, Jo Ann Bridges of Wisconsin and Sandy Rosiak of Chicago, IL.; five grandchildren, Kim Wauters Kephart, Brian Wauters, John Curtis Buckland, Tyler Rowe and Cassie Rowe; two great-grandchildren, Trevor Dillion Kephart and Devyn Michael Wauters.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday October 10, 2002 at 2:00 PM at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor with Pastor Charles H. Bright officiating. Burial will follow in the Valley View cemetery on Powley's Creek. Friends may call from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor, 130 Temple St., Hinton, WV. 25951. Edward G. Heyden
Edward G. Heyden, 79, of Elgin passed away Sunday, October 6, 2002 at Rosewood Health Care Center. He was born May 31, 1923 in Chicago, the son of Edward H. and Bertha Lauer Heyden.
Edward was a WWII veteran. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of the Elgin Moose for 39 years, and a member of Knights of Columbus. He retired from Twinplex Manufacturing in Wood Dale. Formerly employed at Flexonics. He was a tool and dye maker.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Josephine, whom he married
on June 7, 1947; one daughter, Patricia (Raymond) Truty of Belvidere; one son, Edward (Laurie) of Indiana; five grandchildren, Brad, Robbie, Angela, Tommy and Danny; and one great-grandson, Christian.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday October 10, 2002 from Madison Funeral Home at 9:30 AM to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elgin, where Mass will be celebrated. Father John Earl will officiate. Burial will be private at Mt. Hope cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin.
