Charlene A. Andriakos
Charlene A. Andriakos, 60, of Carpentersville, died surrounded by her loving family at her home, Wednesday evening October 9, 2002, following a long battle with emphysema. She was born in Chicago on February 22, 1942, the daughter of Charles and Margaret (nee Sullivan) Bushbaum.
She was a 40 year resident of Carpentersville and a member of St. Monica Church, Carpentersville. Charlene loved animals, especially her beloved pets, Momma Cat and Baby Man and her bird Blue. She will be sorely missed by many.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Vasile "Billy". They married
on January 21, 1960; one daughter, Laura of Elgin; one son, Chris (Cristine) of Rockford; two grandchildren, Heather and Ryan; two sisters, Dorothy (the late George) Bee and Margie (the late Frank) Raczon, both of Carpentersville. Charlene is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, John C. in 1964; two brothers, John and Ed Bushbaum; one sister, MaryLou Zander.
Private Family Funeral Mass will be on Monday October 14, 2002 at St. Monica Church, Carpentersville. Private Family Interment will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-8:00 PM in the funeral home.

Joyce G. Ayres
Joyce G. Ayres, 61 of Elgin passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at Delnor-Community Hospital, Geneva. She was born November 30, 1940 in Harlan, Kentucky the daughter of Floyd and Rena Miracle Hensley.
She had been a resident of Elgin since 1976. She had been employed by Walgreens Inc., Chicago, Sherman Home Health Care, Elgin and was a Crossing Guard in Elgin at the corner of May St., and Liberty St.
Surviving are 1 daughter - Rebecca (Scott) Curce of Sycamore; 2 sons - Robert Ayres of Elgin; James Ayres of Elgin; 1 granddaughter - Camryn Curce; 3 sisters - Lucille Miller of Galston, Kentucky; Mildred (Bill) Hutchison of Memphis, Tenn.; Nola Baker of Memphis, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents: husband - Phillip L. Ayers on Nov. 30, 2002; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Resthaven cemetery, Keith, Kentucky.
Mae E. Boutwell
Mae E. Boutwell, 100, of South Elgin passed away October 9, 2002 at Alderwood Care Center in South Elgin.
She was born September 4, 1902 in Troy, Alabama to William R. and Alma (Gibson) Hurtt. She had been a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilynn Krug of Elgin, grandsons, Kary Krug of Bartlett, Kyle Krug of Roselle, Kevin Krug of Oak Park, a granddaughter, Kendall Krug of Bartlett and caring friend, Bill Witte.
Mae was preceded in death by: her parents, three brothers, Alto, Arthur and Claybourne Hurtt.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Chapel in Elgin. Rev. Thomas O'Connor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Friday and 9 - 10 a.m. on Saturday. Memorials in her name to the Mt. Vernon Methodist Church in Gardendale, Alabama.

Mary Elizabeth Schmidt
Mary Elizabeth Schmidt, 77, of Carpentersville was born to eternal life on Tuesday, October 8, 2002 in Manor Care in Elgin after suffering from Alzheimers Disease for eight years. She was born April 3, 1925 in Akron, Ohio and was the daughter of Charles and Anna Morton.
Surviving are her loving daughter and best friend, Barbara (Steven) Zimmerman of Carpentersville; one son, Paul (Carolyn) Schmidt Jr. of North Folk, Virginia; one sister, Barbara (Howard) Lotter of Carpentersville; two grandchildren, Paul Schmidt III, Trisha Schmidt; three great-grandchildren; many relatives and friends.
preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Paul Nicholas Schmidt Sr., on May 4, 1983.
Private services will be held in the Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St., West Dundee. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimers Foundation.
Elizabeth C. Keeley
Elizabeth C. Keeley, 86, of East Dundee, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Chicago on Nov. 3, 1916, the daughter of Thomas O. and Molisa S. (nee Beaven) McCarty.
Mrs. Keeley was a resident of the Dundee area for the last 12 years. She was a former employee of Sears Roebuck and retired as Head Housekeeper of Mary Margaret Manor in Elgin. She was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. Mrs. Keeley had a kind heart and loved all animals especially her two cats, Billy and Simba. While living in California, she was involved in the Ladies Auxilary of the Knights of Columbus.
She is survived by her five children: James (Barbara) Churchill of South Elgin, Elmira Hicks of Hampshire, Linda Burden of Union City, Tennessee, Melissa Ashley of Manteno, IL and Leona "Noni" (Ignacio "Joe") Pena of East Dundee. Grandmother of 18; great-grandmother of 34; great-great grandmother of one.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Elmer Churchill; her second husband, William Keeley; two granddaughters; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Louise and Theresa; one brother, Thomas, Jr.
Family and friends will meet for a funeral Mass on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. The Rev. David Austin will officiate. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Monday in church from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass.

Norman "Scotty" Melrose
Norman "Scotty" Melrose, 88, passed away October 2, 2003 at his daughter's home in Bradenton, Florida. He was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland.
He served in the Royal Engineers at the Battle of Dunkirk during WWII. He came to Zion, Illinois in 1948 with his wife, Betty (Ross) Melrose.
On August 28, 1973, he married
Amelia "Millie" Aceto-Nelson of Kenosha, Wisconsin where he resided until her death on December 1998. He then moved to Florida with his daughter, Vicky Melrose-Short.
He worked as a master carpenter and has been in the Local Union #250 for over 55 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Victoria (Mike) Short of Myakka City, Florida, Donna Melrose of Ontario, Canada and Kathy Nelson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sons, Brian Melrose of Sarasota, Florida and Paul (Donna) Nelson of Jacksonville, Florida; two sisters, Alice Kilpatrick and Meg McCormick of Kilmarnock, Scotland; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren and nephews and cousins in Scotland.
A memorial service was held October 11 at St. George's cemetery in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Helen M. Neville
Helen M. Neville, 97, of Elgin, passed away October 8, 2003 peacefully in her home. She was born November 17, 1905 in Chicago, IL and was the daughter of Matthew and Philomena (Bauer) Schloesser. On July 15, 1931, she married
Aubrey M. Neville in Arlington Heights, and then moved to Elgin in 1951. Helen served as a board member for the Salvation Army and was a Cub Scout leader. She was a member of the Auxiliary of the Bethel Commandery, the Eastern Stars, and traveled extensively with the Wally Byamm Airstream Club.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Elgin.
Survivors include her three children, Aubrey (Rachel) Neville of Elgin, Nancy J. Neville of Elgin and Robert (Sue) Neville; her eight grandchildren, Eric Neville of Oak Park, IL, Andy Neville of Chicago, IL, Jon Neville of Carpentersville, IL, Stacey O'Rourke of Greeley, CO, Patricia O'Rourke Abendroth of Nederland, CO, Bill O'Rourke of Gunnison, CO, Heather Neville Atkinson of Manassas, VA, and Christopher Neville of Scottsdale, AZ; ten great-grandchildren; her caregiver, Maria Nowicki.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2000; her sister, Bernice Baumler.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with Rev. Lois Bucher officiating. Burial will be private in the Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club or the Hospice of Northeastern IL., Barrington, IL.

Edith "Tippy" Seegert, 94, formerly of Elgin died September 9, 2003 Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Edith's body was cremated. Informal grave side services will be held Monday, October 13, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Bluff City cemetery. Friends and family may attend.
Peter L. Sotos
Peter L. Sotos, 44, of Janesville, WI, formerly of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, in Janesville. He was born Jan. 20, 1959, in Elgin, the son of Lambert and Mary Sotos.
He was the owner of Integratin Specialties of Janesville, and was formerly employed for Lemans Corp. of Janesville.
Survivors include his wife, Julie (Phillips); one daughter, Jennilee of WI; one son, Ryan of WI; his father, Lambert of Crystal Lake; his mother, Mary of Las Vegas; one brother, Paul (Jane) Sotos of Crystal Lake, and his mother-in-law, Sandra Phillips of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by one son, Peter Sotos in 1993.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at Holy Trinity. Rev. Olin Sletto will officiate. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, from 5 to 9 P.M. at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin.

June P. Heichel
June P. Heichel, 71, of Elgin passed away Friday, October 11, 2002 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
She was born June 28, 1931 in LaGrange, IL, the daughter of Charles and Pauline Otto.
She had been a resident of Elgin since 1975 and was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy (Wade) Donovan of St. Charles, IL; three son's, Stephen (Carol) Heichel of Franklin Park, IL, Chuck Heichel of Elgin and Glenn (Kimberly) Heichel of Elgin; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Jean (Arthur) Stuenkel of Hendersonville, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E. Joseph in 1989; and a brother, Wesley.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 11 AM in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1625 W. Highland Ave, Elgin. Burial will in Mt. Hope cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 9 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St, Elgin and then on Monday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church from 10:30 AM until time of the Mass.
Helen (Madej) Carlson
Helen (Madej) Carlson, 94, of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2003, in Heritage Manor, Elgin. She was born October 15, 1908, in Chicago, Illinois.
Helen lived in Chicago and moved to Elgin with her husband, Ingvar. They moved to Whitewater, Wisconsin after Ingvar's retirement from the Carlson Brother's plumbing business in Elgin. Many family memories will always be cherished of the farmland in Whitewater as well as Delavan, Wisconsin, where they lived for several years. Helen was admired for her integrity, hard work and making family traditions so special.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris Survant of Elgin and Alice (Gerry) Carlson of Sugar Camp, WI; one son, Keith (Judy) Carlson of Rhinelander, WI; nine grandchildren, Laurie (Greg) Beaver, Susan (Dave) Trowbridge, Sallie (Joe) Wiedemann, Jeff Survant, Dave (Denise) Survant, Kevin (Wendy) Carlson, Kurt Carlson, Jenny Carlson, Christopher Carlson and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ingvar; three brothers; two sisters and a son-in-law, Robert Survant.
