Alpha W. Peterson
Alpha W. Peterson, 82, of Savanna, Illinois, formerly of South Elgin, Illinois, died Saturday, November 15, 2003 at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa.
The family is welcoming friends into their home in Savanna anytime to share memories of Alpha. There will be no visitation or funeral service.
Alpha was born on September 25, 1921 in Boscobel, Wisconsin to George and Bessie (Pierce) Peterson. He graduated from Boscobel High School. He was stationed in the Pacific during World War II while serving in the United States Air Force. Alpha married
Grace E. Pasold on November 1, 1946 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Alpha was the plant manager of Syntex until his retirement in 1980.
Alpha was a very active person and had many hobbies, some of which included golfing with his wife and great-grandson, Alex, radio-controlled airplanes, working around the yard, and always repairing things. Alex always called Grandpa the "Fixer".
Survivors include his wife, Grace Peterson of Savanna; two daughters, Linda (Mike) Kampschroer of Cary, Illinois and Kim (Richard) Driggett of Elgin, Illinois; four grandchildren, Dennis, David, Melissa, and Heather; eight great-grandchildren, including Alex Young who looked up to his great-grandpa and made his home with him; two sisteres, Neva Hanson of Madison, Wisconsin and Betty Klahorst of Covington, Louisiana.
Alpha was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Paul Peterson.
Robert F. "Robby" Boehm
Robert F. "Robby" Boehm, 25, 0f Suprise, Arizona, formerly of Carpentersville died Saturday, November 13, 2004 in Arizona. He was born in Hoffman Estates on September 24, 1979.
Rob was a 1998 graduate of Barrington High School. Rob worked in the construction field.
He is survived by his father, Robert C. Boehm of Carpentersville; his mother, Debra A. Donnelly Price of Crystal Lake; his brother, Rick, of Crystal Lake; his sister, Connie, of Arizona; his paternal grandparents, Frank and Jeanne Boehm of Lake in the Hills; his maternal grandfather, James Donnelly of Woodstock; his great-great-great-grandmother, Violet Parent; many aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Roberta Donnelly.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
Brian R. Bogenholm
Brian R. Bogenholm, 60, of Gilberts, died Monday, November 15, 2004 at the Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Chicago, IL on March 1, 1944 the son of Walter R. and Audrey A. (nee Hall) Bogenholm.
Brian was a resident of the Gilberts area for the past 30 years. He was employed by National Lewis University in Elgin where he worked as the Maintenance Technician. Biran also owned and operated "The Family Tree". He was a very active and faithful member of the Highland Fellowship Church of Elgin. He was very involved and dedicated to the church's Royal Ranger Scouting Program. He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Viet Nam War.
Brian is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 30 years, Helen L. (nee Snetselaar) Bogenholm. Their children, Wendy (Rev. Robert) Griffith of West Dundee, Cindy Bogenholm of Gilberts and Karen (Mark Smith) Bogenholm of Elgin. His granddaughter, Lindsay Katherine Griffith and his brother, Barry T. (Carolyn) Bogenholm of Yuba City, CA. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mark A. Bogenholm.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Highland Fellowship Church 2250 W. Highland Ave., Elgin. The Rev. Dr. Kent J. Ingle will officiate. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, in West Dundee. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services in the Highland Fellowship Church. A memorial mass has been established in his memory in care of the family. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.
Darlene E. (Marsh) Loek
Darlene E. (Marsh) Loek, 80, of Elgin died November 16, 2004 at Rosewood Care Center in Elgin.
She was born October 18, 1924 in Huntley, IL, the daughter of Lee and Clara Marsh. She married
Verlin (Bud) Loek on December 7, 1946.
Darlene graduated from Huntley High School in 1942 and from Sherman Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. She served as a Cadet Nurse in WWII and continued on as a nurse at Sherman Hospital. Later she worked for the Office of Equal Opportunity. She was employed by School District U46 in the cafeteria for many years.
She was a charter member of and active in founding Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Elgin. Darlene and Bud were members of the Airstream Club for many years. She was also a member of the Candi Bone Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; a brother; an infant son; a grandson; and a daughter-in-law.
Surviving are her husband; three sons, Verlin Jr. (Mona) of Portland, OR, Phillip (Sharon) of Burlington, IL, Gregory (Kathy) of Faribault, MN; and one daughter, Sue (Keith) Riebock of Mt. Carroll, IL; 14 loving grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2004 from 4-8 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Graveside services will be on Saturday at 11:30 A.M. in the Lakewood Memorial Park. Memorial funeral services will be on Saturday at 7:00 P.m. in the Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, 12N462 Tina Tr., Elgin, IL 60123 with Pastor Steve Srock officiating. Memorials may be made to the Christ the Lord Lutheran Church.
Mary A. (Botteron) Martin
Mary passed away peacefully at her home in San Francisco, CA on October 29, 2004, at the age of 54 after a brave three year battle with brain cancer.
Beloved wife of Robert E. Martin; loving step-mother to Angela Triggs, Laura Martin and James Martin; cherished aunt to Norman, Paul, Christopher and Nicholas Botteron; sister-in-law to Patti Botteron and many aunts, uncles and cousins from the Hampshire/Elgin IL area. Steadfast and extraordinary friend to many.
Born August 27, 1950, in Elgin, IL to Norman and Marilyn (Olinger) Botteron. preceded in death by her mother, father and her brother, Norm Botteron.
After the death of her mother in 1962, Mary and her brother Norm were raised in Hampshire, IL by their aunt and uncle, Marge and Bob Proffitt, along with their nine loving cousins. She attended St. Charles Borromeo Grade School and graduated with honors from Hampshire High School in 1968. She attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where she received a B.S. degree in Psychology, cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, 1972. She earned her M.S.W. in Community Organization and Social Planning at U.C. Berkeley, 1983. Mary was dedicated to helping others through a distinguished career in human services, most recently at Children's Health Council in Palo Alto, CA. She also served the Northern California Council for the Community, The Exploratorium, San Francisco; Mental Health Association, San Francisco; Children's Home Society of California, Oakland, CA; Morrison Center, Youth and Family Services, Portland, OR; United Way of the Bay Area, San Francisco, CA; Garfield County Department of Social Services and the Mountain Valley Developmental Services, Glenwood Springs, CO. She was active in many civic and community organizations. She chaired the Alumni Association School of Social Welfare, U.C. Berkeley; was a member of the Nonprofit Development Center; the National Association of Social Workers; worked for the National Unity Campaign for John Anderson; and volunteered with many human service organizations in California and Oregon. She advocated strongly on behalf of at-risk children and families. A life-long Democrat, Mary was a community activist for social change and human rights who encouraged participation in the political process. She dedicated her life to helping others as a mentor, friend and advisor. All who knew her drew from her strength and sense of humor. She enjoyed politics, reading, long walks and gardening and was the center of many happy celebrations with friends and family. Mary's wit, charm and sense of humor brought joy to all who knew her. Her enthusiasm and laughter lit up every room she entered. Mary's bravery, optimism and love of life never waned during her struggle with cancer, and her spirit was a testament to her love of life. She enriched the lives of everyone with whom she came in contact. She will be missed. May her memory be a blessing.

Helen M. Walker
Helen M. Walker, 69, of Carpentersville died Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born on December 11, 1934 in Hopkinsville, KY, the daughter of Ross Ewing and Louise Guy.
She was a former 27 year employee of Revcor Manufacturing in Carpentersville prior to retirement.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Thelbert Walker, Sr., whom she married
on August 23, 1952; four children, Wanda Casteel of South Elgin, Karen L. (Bobby) McCoy, Thelbert Walker, Jr., and James (Laura) Walker all of Carpentersville; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, William (Nancy) Guy, Flora Honaker, Manuel (Cheryl Guy, Warren (Teresa) Guy, Margaret (Dennis) Smith, Robert Guy, Jerry (Carol) Guy, James Guy, and Nolan Guy; her brother-in-law, Odell (Arlene) Walker and many nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Debra Walker.
Funeral services will be on Saturday at Noon in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services in the funeral home.
Ronald R. Eglinton, Jr.
Ronald R. Eglinton, Jr., 23, of Carpentersville died Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
He was born in Rockford on December 2, 1978.
Ron was a life long resident of Carpentersville and a 1997 graduate of Barrington High School. He was a five year employee of Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva. Ron was a Semi-Pro Football player and a member of the Cook County Jaguars. He loved sports and was an avid softball player and for many years was a player in the Dundee Township Park District softball program.
He is survived by his parents, Ronald R. and Virginia (nee Blakney) Eglinton, Sr. of Carpentersville; six brothers and sisters, Donald (Carol) Dozier of Rock Island, Ronald Dozier of Carpentersville, Renee Hickmon of Colorado, Sherrie (Chris) Thorson of Elgin, his twin brother, James Eglinton of Carpentersville and Kelly Eglinton of Carpentersville; many nieces, nephews and a great nephew. In addition to aunts, uncles cousins and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday at 11 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee with the Rev. Todd Burnett, Chaplain of Delnor Community Hospital officiating. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee.

Michael E. Ferraro
Michael E. Ferraro, 56, of Carpentersville died Saturday November 16, 2002 at Sherman Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving wife and devoted brother-in-law Chuck. He was born in Chicago on July 29, 1946. He was the son of James and Fern (nee Matteson) Ferraro.
Mike was a 40 year resident of the Carpentersville area. He was owner and operator of Streamwood Express Car Wash in Streamwood and operator of Streamwood Ryder Truck Rental. Prior to starting his own business, Mike was the manager of the Meadowdale Autoglow Car Wash in Carpentersville. He was a Vietnam Veteran and was proud to have served in the United States Navy. He attended St. Monica Church of Carpentersville.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Louise E. (nee Olsen) Ferraro. They married
on September 11, 1965; four loving children, Michael G. Ferraro, Troy J. Ferraro and Dominick R.J. Ferraro all of Carpentersville and Maryann T. Ferraro of Algonquin; six grandchildren, Jessica and Kayla Ferraro of Minnesota, Brittany, Kayla, and Baby Troy Ferraro of Crystal Lake, and Baby Sal Tardy of Algonquin; his mother-in-law Ann Gianonotti of Woodstock; four brothers-in-law, Chuck Olson of Arizona, Elmer (Lee) Olsen of Spring Grove, Bob Olsen of Carpentersville, and Robin (Peggy) Olsen of Crystal Lake; two sisters-in-law, Maggie Burrow of Wauconca and Nancy Hall of Carpentersville. Mike is also survived by many nieces, nephews and many good and faithful friends, especially Bob and Joyce Navigato of Arizona and Chip Sloma of Woodstock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, John Olsen and Jimmy Olsen.

Mary Ellen Whalen
Mary Ellen Whalen, 71 of Elgin passed away Sunday, November 17, 2002 at her home. She was born July 24, 1931 in Oak Park, Illinois the daughter of William J. and Catherine Cunningham Sweeney.
She was a graduate of Trinity High School in River Forest and Roserary College in River Forest. She had been a resident of Elgin since 1968. She married
James A. Whalen on January 12, 1957.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin. She was a member of the Searchers. She was a former board member of the Elgin Symphony League.
Surviving are four-daughters; Barbara Whalen (Donald Cherry) of Villa Park, Ann Whalen of Chicago, Jennifer Whalen (Jad Kessuvan) of Elgin, Margaret Whalen Stes (Michael Stec) of Oak Park, four grandchildren; Catherine Kessuvan Cherry, Maximilian Stec and Mary Ellen Kessuvan, one sister-Ann Sullivan of Oak Park, one brother-William Sweeney of North Brunswick, N.J.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband-James A Whalen in 2000.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin with Rev. Edward Seisser officiating. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven cemetery, Hillside. Andrew E. "Andy" Landstrom
Andrew E. "Andy" Landstrom, 76, of Waukegan passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at the V.A. Medical Center in North Chicago.
He was born October 13, 1928 in Chicago, the son of Andrew and Sarah G. (Dapp) Landstrom. Andy was a disabled Air Force Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He enjoyed bowling and dancing.
Surviving are a son, Jeffrey Landstrom; sisters, Doris "Dee" (Frank) Egger of Lake in the Hills, Martha A. Hiller of Huntley; a brother, Lester (Shirley) Landstrom of Dyersburg, TN; nieces and nephews, Dorie Rasmusen of Huntley, Wendy Landstrom of South Fork, FL, Evie Jacobson of Lake in the Hills, Rich (Barb) Kerr of Crystal Lake, Sheila (Phil) Roser of Dyersburg, TN, Shelly (Aaron) Poling of Elgin, and Frank Egger Jr. of Crystal Lake; many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eric Landstrom; and a nephew, Keith Landstrom.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 20, at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley with Dr. Walter I. Thyng officiating. Virginia A. "Ginny" Norris
Virginia A. "Ginny" Norris, 67, of St. Charles, died Thursday, November 18, 2004 at her home. She was born August 7, 1937 in Evanston, the only child of Dietrich and Anna (Wahlers) Eckhoff.
Ginny graduated from Evanston Township High School in Evanston and attended Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin. Ginny learned the value of hard work as she grew up working long hours helping her parents in their restaurant on Central Street in Evanston. She met her future husband, the former mayor, Fred Norris, while a student at Beloit College. They were married
on June 29, 1957 in Evanston.
Before beginning their family, Ginny was employed by Owens-Illinois Corporation in St. Charles. Ginny's willing spirit allowed her to use her secretarial skills, filling in where there was a need, including Baker Memorial United Methodist Church and Chief Shabbona Council, Boy Scouts of America in St. Charles.
She took great pride in knitting and sewing for her children and grandchildren. When daughter Brenda was young, Ginny was delighted to play the piano for Brenda's clarinet recitals. Her busy life included serving as den mother for Fred, Jr. on through his various steps as he became an Eagle Scout all the while caring for the needs of her very special daughter, Lynda. She always kept the home fires burning, privately giving wise counsel and calming assurances in the midst of a tense political campaign or an endeavor to resolve a significant social issue - bringing forth a loving, gentle moment to brighten what may have otherwise been an overwhelming day.
The former first lady of St. Charles, Ginny was the support behind Fred as he entered the world of politics as an Alderman for six years and then as Mayor for 20 years. Ginny was always the silent support for her husband and family.
She also found time for personal community involvement having been a past president of the Jaycettes, and past president of the Women's Auxiliary of Delnor Hospital. Ginny also served as chairman of the annual charity ball for the hospital. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star.
Ginny is survived by her husband of 47 years, Fred; her children, Lynda Norris of St. Charles, Fred (Karen) Norris, Jr. of St. Charles and Brenda (Fred) Werner of North Aurora; her grandchildren, Adam Norris and Kyle and Kaylee Werner.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 22, 2004 at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, 307 Cedar Ave., St. Charles. Entombment will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 21, 2004 at the Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third Street, St. Charles.
