Linda Sue Andrews
Linda Sue Andrews, 52, of Plato Township died Wednesday at her home.
A proud, loving mother of three, Linda was a longtime Elgin resident.
Linda is preceded in death by her father, Victor Johnson and her mother, Dorothy J. Johnson (nee Poulsen).
Linda is survived by her husband of twenty years, Vaughn; three children, Vicki Gerwig of Colorado, Brian (fiancee Tori) Gerwig also of Colorado, Christopher Gerwig of Montana; her mother-in-law, June Thomas of Kansas; three brothers, Steve (Janet) Johnson of Elgin, Larry (Fran) Johnson of McHenry, Dan (Marla) Johnson of Sycamore; one sister, Jenny (Bill) Ventura of Ohio; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Corner Stone Methodist Church, located 41W170 Russel Rd. (Plato Center), Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Paul Meyers officiating. Funeral arrangements through the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin (847)741-1400.

Harry E. Hanley
Harry E. Hanley, of Elgin, Illinois and La Quinta, California, died on November 17, 2003, at home in Elgin. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 28, 1915 and attended Pembrook County Day School. In 1934, he entered Dartmouth College where he majored in History. He was a member and Secretary of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and the Dragon Society.
During World War II he was stationed on the East Coast and served in the United States Navy Supply Corps, achieving the rank of Lieutenant, Senior Grade.
His business career included being President of Harry E. Hanley and Associates, a sales management firm, and Vice President of Metal Impact Corporation. He also served as a Co-Founder and Director in Simpson House, the Elgin Airport Holiday Inn, and as Director with the Elgin National Bank.
Harry was an avid golfer all of his life, and at the age of 70 won the Chicago District Golf Association Senior Championship low net, and at 77 the Super Seniors Championship.
Harry is survived by his wife, Dorothy D. Hanley; two sons, Fred (Marte) Hanley of Wichita, Kansas, John (Peggy) Hanley of Elgin; a step-daughter, Kim (James) Ernst of Elgin; three granddaughters, Marian (Matthew) Mead of Boston, Massachusetts, Charlotte Hanley of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Casey Ernst of Elgin.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Dundee, a Life Time Member of the Elgin Country Club, and the La Quinta Country Club, La Quinta, California.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the First Congregational Church, 417 West Main St., West Dundee, IL with Rev. Pam Pendexter officiating. The family has requested that memorials be given to the First Congregational Church of West Dundee. Laird Funeral Homes, Elgin and West Dundee is in charge of arrangements. 847-836-8770.
Helen V. Joyce
Helen V. Joyce, formerly of Elgin, died Monday, November 17 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY.
Surviving are three daughters, Doreen Joyce of Elgin, Rosemarie Joyce of Paducah, KY, Sherry and Brian Hansen of South Elgin, two sons, Patrick and Tammy of Sycamore and Lester and Terry of Amboy, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, a sister, and her husband in 1996.
Graveside services will be private at Old Jenny Ridge cemetery, Paducah, KY.
John F. Kanies
John F. Kanies, 89, of West Dundee passed away November 18, 2003 at Sherman Hospital. He was born April 18, 1914 in Burlington, IL, the son of John and Anna (Blank) Kanies.
John lived in the Elgin area all his life. He was in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Elgin and was a loving father and grandfather.
Survivors include two daughters Barbara (Michael) Logan of West Chicago and Nancy (Robert) Golbeck of West Dundee, eight grandchildren, Brent, Matt, Brooke, Jeremy, Nick, Angela, Katie, Bradley. One brother Conrad Kanies of Elgin and one sister Ruby Rosborough of Elgin.
preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lenore in 1978 and one sister Garnet Braun.

Paul M. Michalski ("Mick")
Paul M. "Mick" Michalski, 67, of East Dundee died Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
He was born on May 19, 1936 in Ironwood, Michigan, the son of Alex A. and Delphine A. (nee Endrizzi) Michalski.
Paul was a life long resident of the area and a 1954 graduate of St. Edward High School in Elgin. Following graduation from high school, he was a Korean War veteran and served in the United States Marine Corp from 1954 to 1957. He was a member of Elgin American Legion #57, the 8th Air Force Historical Society and Elgin Moose #799. Paul was the former owner and operator of M & W Wholsale Meats in East Dundee from 1957 until 1990. Following retirement, he continued to work and "help out" at M & W until 2002. Paul was an East Dundee Volunteer Fireman from 1965 to 1973 and earned the rank of Lieutenant. Paul was an avid aviation and history enthusiast. He was a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and especially loved being "Up North" during the summer and traveling to Florida during the winter.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Karen (nee Gloede) Michalski. They married
on April 18, 1959. Their marriage was blessed with four loving children, Monica (Devin) Moose of St. Charles, Michael (Stacy) Michalski and Brenda (Steven) Bollman both of East Dundee and Andrea (Steven) Pertzborn of Huntley; ten grandchildren whom he adored and was very proud of, Jacob, Samuel, Emily, Matthew, Allison, Jack, Hannah, Max, Alex and Andrew; his sister, Alexis A. (Thomas) Ward of Elgin; his mother-in-law, Marnie Gloede of East Dundee; his sister-in-law and good friend, Barbara Christopherson of West Dundee; his sister-in-law, Mary Michalski of Crest Hill; and many nieces, nephews and countless friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Cecil and Jerome.
Family and friends will meet for Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 10 a.m. in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. The Rev. Richard A. Rosinski, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 8 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Saturday in the church from 9 AM until the time of Mass.

Donald R. Stewart
Donald R. Stewart, 88, of Elgin passed away Sunday, November 16, 2003 at Kindred-Sycamore Hospital.
He was born August 6, 1915 in Algonquin, the son of Frank and Minnie Stewart.
He had been a resident of Elgin for most of his life and had been employed as a mailman at the Elgin Post Office before retiring in 1980. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corp in the European Theatre of Operations.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Kenneth Stewart.
Private graveside services will be held at Washington Reformed Presbyterian Church cemetery, Elgin.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Westminster Christian School in Elgin. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
Patrick E. Switzer
Patrick Eugene Switzer, 44, of Elgin died Tuesday.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Loren E. and Virginia M. (Merritt) Switzer of Elgin.
Patrick is survived by his beloved twin sons, Thomas P. and Joseph P. Switzer of Streamwood, IL; four beloved brothers, Harold Switzer of Tamms, IL, Mike and Valerie Switzer of Rockford, IL, Ed and Carol Switzer of Machesney Park, IL, Virgil Switzer of Lockport, IL; five loving sisters, Karen (Walter) Burnett of Sherman Oaks, CA, Marcie (Jim) Bangiorno of Machesney Park, Debbie (Bill) Ward of Jefferson, GA, Rebecca (Mike) Turner of Lockport, IL, and his twin sister, Patty Johnson, Columbia City, IN; and nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Patrick is loved, and will be missed!

William B. Wolter, Sr.
William B. Wolter, Sr., 89 of Dundee Township died Tuesday at the home of his daughter & son-in-law in Hampshire. He was born on October 21, 1913 in Germany. He was the son of Wilhelm & Petreke (nee Wubena) Wolter. Mr. Wolter was a 57 year resident of the Dundee area. He was a former 19 year employee of Illinois Hydraulic Construction Co. and a member of Teamsters Local 330. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, West Dundee. He was an active supporter of Schuller Ministries and the "Crystal Cathedral". He was a member of Elgin Moose #799 and the Illinois Game Breeders Association.
He is survived by his five children, William B. "Bernie" (Kathy) of Phoenix, AZ, Kenneth J. (Janet) of Elgin, Edward M. (Mary) of McHenry, P. Joanne (Gary) Meyer of Hampshire and Michelle A. (Cortland) Gow of Belvidere. Grandfather of Billy, William III "Billy", Christopher, Stacy (April), Bret, Jill, Darci, Jorey, Malissa, Jessica, Jason, Larissa, and Joey. His sister-in-law, June Moran of Diamond Head, Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife LaMerle Dixon Wolter on June 18, 1997. They married
on August 24, 1943. One brother, Arnold. One sister, Johanna Lorenz.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home. In Bill's memory the family asks that you not send flowers, instead that you consider planting a tree in his memory.
Johanna Heinle
Johanna Heinle, of Schaumburg, formerly of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at Arden Courts, Elk Grove. She was born September 6, 1908 in Augsburg, Germany to Ludwig and Monika (Lengl) Heinle.
Miss Hanna Heinle arrived in the U.S. in the spring of 1929, sponsored by her uncle Frank Lengl who had established himself and opened a restaurant "Schaumburg Inn". He offered Hanna Heinle (neice) and another niece, Frieda Springinsgut a home. Both young women worked with him. Hanna Heinle never married
. Her life was the restaurant, which she managed for many, many years. She retired in the early seventies adn enjoyed life in the house at DE Quindel Rd., which her uncle Frank Lendl built.
She is survived a niece, Gertrud (Wilhelm) Rooger of Germany; a nephew, Arthur (Ursula) Steitze of Canada; great-nieces, Christine and Suzanne of Germany; great-nephews, Ralph and Peter of Canada.
She was preceded in death by her uncle, Frank Lengl; two cousins, Frieda Springinsgut and Frank Lengl.
Graveside services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Edward J. Merchut, 52, of Downers Grove, formerly of the Dundee area died Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. He was born on November 30, 1950 in Chicago, the son of Edward W. and Louise (nee Sassano) Merchut. Ed was a carpenter by trade and served in the United States Navy.
He is survived by his children, Ronald (Stephanie) Merchut and Raylene Merchut, both of Carpentersville; one grandson, Austin Merchut; three brothers, Kenneth (Kim) Merchut of Carpentersville, Michael (Mary) Merchut of Rockford and Ricky (Sherrie) Merchut of Carpentersville; two sisters, Darlene (Steve) Lovett of Lake in the Hills and Angela (Tom) Baumgarten of Genoa; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Edward Schuld
Edward Schuld, 95, of Elgin, passed away November 18, 2003. He was born March 12, 1908 in Elgin and was the son of Henry and Louise Schuld. Edward was a resident of Elgin for all of his life, and had been in the heating service business for many years prior to his retirement.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Elgin, a fifty-year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #799, and a member of the Fox Valley Saddle Club.
He is survived by his son, John (Jack) Schuld of WI; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Mable Wendt of Carpentersville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura, in 1999; his sister, Loulu Boeske; his four brothers, William, Arthur, Rudolph, and Henry, Jr.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Elgin with the Rev. Olin Sletto officiating. Private burial will be in Huntley cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Provena St. Joseph Hospital Regional Cancer Care Center.
