Raymond L. Wilkie
Raymond L. Wilkie, 79, of Elgin, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2003 in Sherman West Court, Elgin. He was born March 20, 1924 in Fredericksburg, Iowa and was the son of Floyd and Alice (Pierce) Wilkie. Ray was a graduate of Alpha Iowa High School in 1952. He was a Veteran and served in the U.S. Army from January 17, 1949 until September 4, 1951, and received the Purple Heart for a wound on April 25, 1951. He moved to IL, and farmed in the Barrington area until 1971. Ray then moved to Elgin and had worked at the Kane County Highway Department until his retirement in 1990.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin.
He is survived by three sisters, Charlotte Woolery, Grace (Stanley) Hastings, and Dorothy (Alvin) Denny of Klemme, IA; his sister-in-law, Elva Wilkie of Enterprise, OR; his aunt, Ruby Pierce of Fredericksburg, IA; his brothers-in-law, Lawrence (Betty) Miller, Leonard (Cornelia) Miller, Wallace (Elizabeth) Miller, Richard (Virginia) Miller, all of Elgin, IL, Harold (Mary) Miller of Reedsburg, WI and Robert (Mary Lou) Miller of Genoa, IL; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Wilkie on October 24, 2003; his parents; two sisters, Mildred Woolery and Muriel Paulsen; one brother, Verne Wilkie.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin with Rev. Andrew Plesa officiating. Burial will be Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Saturday in the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the church.

Angeline K. Wright
Angeline K. Wright, 84, of Elgin died Wednesday at Heritage Manor.
Angeline was an Elgin resident for over 45 years and had worked as a clerk for Lee Wards and David C. Cook Publishing. She was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin, an active member of the St. Mary's Women's Guild #3, and a member of the Catholic Daughters.
Angeline was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Sylvester Mayr of Windsor, WI; one brother-in-law, Chester Carver of Lombard; one daughter-in-law, Donna (eugene) wright; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Creg; five children, Mildred (Ross Bentley) Dorwaldt of Hampshire, eugene wright of Elgin, Ronald (Carol Biskup) Wright of Bartlett, Lucille (Ralph) McMahon of Elgin, Ralph Nathan (Patricia) Wright of Montgomery; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Isabelle (Art) Haas of Colby, WI, Marie Carver of Lombard, Margarette (Clemie) Hiendl of Stetsonville, WI; five brothers, Joseph Mayr of Columbus, WI, Leander (June) Mayr of Littleton, CO, Julius (Bridgette) Mayr of DeForest, WI, Bernard (Beverly) Mayr of DeForest, WI; one sister-in-law, Wilma Mayr of Windsor, WI.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin with Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Seisser officiating. Entombment will be at Mt. Hope cemetery.

James L. Ziegler
James L. Ziegler, 73, of Elgin passed away Thursday, November 20, 2003 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He was born February 21, 1930 and was the son of Lyle and Zell Ziegler. He was a resident of Elgin all his life and was Vice Chairman of Ziegler's Hardware Stores before retiring. He was a veteran, having served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis; one daughter, Lori (John) Cabell of Leadville, Colorado; one son, David (Lydia) Ziegler of Elgin; three grandchildren, Adam and Leah Ziegler, Jean Cabell; one brother, Gregg (JoAnn) Ziegler of Barrington, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, December 7, 2003 at 4:30 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Larry Pickens officiating. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation. Laird Funeral Home in Elgin is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Elgin Historical Society, 360 Park St., Elgin, IL 60120 or to the First United Methodist Church, 216 E. Highland Ave., Elgin, IL 60120.

Mary L. Bock
Mary L. Bock, 88 of Elgin and Pingree Grove, IL, died Saturday, November 20, 2004 at the Bethany Health Care Center in DeKalb. She was born November 2, 1916 in Herrin, IL and grew up in West Frankfort, IL. She was married to George Bock.
Mary is survived by one son, Mike (Cheryl) Bock of Kingston; five grandchildren, Anthony Bock, Kaitlin Bock, Joe (Sally) Bock, Kelly Bock and Terry Bock; four great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jenny, Shannon and Stephanie; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; and one son, Charles.
The family would like to thank the Bethany Health Care Center and the Unity Hospice for their care and compassion that they showed to Mary over the last four years.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 23 at 10:30 AM at the Lakewood cemetery in Elgin, with Rev. Daniel Diss, officiating. Burial will follow.
Visitation will be on Monday from 5-7 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main, Genoa, IL 60135. For Info: 815-784-5191.

Betty Lou Hillner
Betty Lou Hillner, 77, of Marengo, former 40 year resident of Carpentersville, died Friday, November 19, 2004 at the Florence Nursing Home in Marego. She was born November 25, 1926 in Spring Valley, IL. She was the daughter of John and Darlene (nee Culver) Brandstatter. Betty Lou was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marengo and a member of the choir. She was also a former many year member and choir member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and the Zion United Church of Christ both of Carpentersville. Betty Lou worked as a professional Secretary and was a member of the Professional Secretaries Association. She was a member of the Dundee VFW #2298 Ladies Auxiliary in West Dundee and also the Dundee Township League of Women Voters.
She is survived by her son, Kevin (Lisa) Hillner of Marengo; her four granddaughters, Kristin, Brittany, Lori and Madison, all of Marengo; her sister, Lois (Frank) Etheridge of Mendota; her brothers, Jack (Nora) Brandstatter of Hennipin, IL, Ralph (Joan) Brandstatter of Florida, and Don (Nancy) Brandstatter of Varna, IL; many nieces, nephews and good and faithful friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard E. Hillner on November 18, 1994; her grandson, Erik Hillner in 1981; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Helen.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 22, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. Dr. Elaine Eachus, friend and Betty Lou's former pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to The First United Methodist Church of Marengo or the Community Crisis Center of Elgin.

Kenneth H. Kamp
Kenneth H. Kamp, 76, formerly of Elgin, passed away November 19, 2004 at his home in Bonita Springs, FL. He was born on January 12, 1928 to Herman and Anna Kamp of Barrington, IL. He worked for Chicago Gravel Co. in Elgin before retiring in 1984 and moving from Elgin to Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce I. Kamp; his children, Jackie (Terry) Bromm, Steven (Susan) Kamp, Kathleen Eagle, Brenda (Terry) Propp and Kenneth Kamp Jr.; nine grandchildren; and his brother, Herman (Mary) Kamp of Carpentersville, IL.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Orrie, Verdell Calbow, Raymond, Gladies, Genette Rosen, Bernice, Ruth, Arlene Raymond, Robert and Bettyann Harvel Kamp.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with burial to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Jeremy M. Lenz
Jeremy M. Lenz, 21, of Greenwood, IN (formerly of Elgin), died Friday, November 12, 2004 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born January 14, 1983 in Elgin, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Susan (Morphew) Lenz, whom he married on June 23, 2002; a daughter, Brionna Lenz; his mother, Judith D. Lenz of Indianapolis; his father, James C. Adams of Elgin; his grandmother, Marilyn Lenz of Elgin; several aunts, uncles, cousins, half brothers and sisters, and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert J. Lenz.
He attended Perry Meridian High School, was employed by United Parcel Service in Indianapolis and trained with the Indiana National Guard. He enjoyed roller/jam skating and sweets.
Over 200 friends gathered with the family at Jessen Funeral Home in Whiteland, IN in his honor. A service was held the following day and attended by almost as many. During the service, dozens of friends shared aloud their touching memories of "C.J.", their great friend. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. He now rests in peace at Mount Pleasant cemetery in White River Township.

Carl J. Much
Carl J. Much, age 89, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Dundee and Elgin, IL, died Oct. 14, 2004, in Sarasota, FL. He was born January 5, 1915, in Berlin, WI and retired to the Sarasota area in 1978.
Mr. Much was a veteran of World War II and before retiring, he was a Corporate Executive with businesses in the Elgin-Dundee, IL area.
Survivors include his wife, Julia E. Much of Sarasota; one son, Paul J. Much of Chicago, IL; one sister, Maxine Brewer of Berlin, WI; one step-son, Simon
(Pollyanna) Heide and family of Sleepy Hollow, IL and one step-daughter, Kim (Robert) Russell and family of Naperville, IL.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at 2 p.m. at
Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin, IL.

Patricia M. Valadez (Nee Coughlin)
Patricia M. Valadez, nee Coughlin, age 67, passed away November 17, 2004 at Michealsen Care Center in Batavia. She was born August 3, 1937 in Chicago.
She was formerly of Carpentersville and St. Charles. She was a former Deputy Sheriff for Kane County. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #14.
She was a loving mother of Ray (Ann Marie) Valadez and Jaye (Jeff) Valadez-Wilger; proud grandmother of Michael and Kathleen Valadez; dear sister of Colleen, Dennis (Alicia) and Douglas (Ardith) Coughlin; fond aunt of Don, Kimberly, Kevin, Emily and Madeline Coughlin.
Family and friends to gather Tuesday, November 23 for 7 p.m. memorial service at The Michealsen Care Center, 831 N. Batavia Ave., Batavia 60510. In lieu of flowers donations to the Michealsen Care Center would be appreciated.

Odessa David "Dess" Ross
Odessa David "Dess" Ross, 65, of Elgin, passed away Monday, November 15, 2004, in Sherman Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. He was born March 18, 1939, in Cairo, IL to Gertrude and Clarence Ross Sr.
Odessa graduated from Sumner High School, Cairo, IL in 1957. He was employed by Elgin Mental Health Center as a Caseworker from 1958 until his retirement in 1995. During his employment, he served as a Chief Steward and contract negotiator for AFSCME Local 26, and was also chairperson of the Credit Committee for the EMHC Employees Credit Union. Following his retirement he was employed by Initial Security. He was an owner in the harness horse racing industry and was an avid bowler. Odessa enjoyed watching all sports and never hesitated to voice his opinion of the outcome.
To cherish his memories are his devoted wife Beverly (Smith) Ross, whom he married on March 7, 1959; a son, David Ross of Milwaukee, WI; a daughter, Debra Ross of Elgin; two granddaughters, Dionna (A.C.) Span and Krysta Hall; three great-granddaughters, MaKayla, KaMarie and Karissa Hall-Lee, all of Elgin; three brothers, John Sledd of St. Louis, MO, Clarence A. Ross Jr. of Calumet Park, IL and Moses Ross of Waukegan, IL; four sisters, Bertha (William) Vaughan of Batavia, IL, Martha Ross of Calumet Park, IL, Mary (Louis) Ford of Aurora, IL and Karon Jean (B.J.) Smith of Elgin, IL and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Darryl; a brother, Elvin and a sister, Carolyn Brazier.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 22, 2004, in the St. James A.M.E. Church, 1100 Summit St., Elgin at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be held Monday in the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services in the church.

Nancy L. Feldten
Nancy L. Feldten, 55, of Carpentersville died Thursday, November 21, 2002 at the ASTA Care Center in Elgin. She was born on December 10, 1946 in Chicago. She was the daughter of Wesley B, Sr. & Eve C. (nee Dreer) Feldten. Nancy was a 45 year resident of the Carpentersville area. She was a former employee of Nitek Manufacturing in Mt. Prospect.
She is survived by 2 sisters: Donna Gustafson and Linda (Daniel) Costley, both of Carpentersville, 1 brother: Wesley B., Jr. (Charta) Feldten of Algonquin. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son: Austin and 1 nephew: Bradley W. Feldten.
Visitation will be on Friday from 5-9 p.m in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Marjorie Elaine Kissane
Marjorie Elaine Kissane, 81 of Elgin passed away Wednesday, November 20, in Provena St. Joseph Hospital. She was born October 9, 1921 in Aurora and was the daughter of Rudy R. and Ethel Fenton Drought. She attended schools in Aurora and Elgin and graduated from Elgin High School in 1939. She was in Nursing School at Sherman Hospital in Elgin until she moved to Tucson, Arizona. There she was a governess for the family of General Robert Olds and later for two children of the Hugh D. Auchincloss's in Virginia. Upon her return to the area she was a long time employee to Dr. Robert Addison of Chicago. She was baptized and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin until she moved out west. On June 16, 1967 she was confirmed and became a member of St. Paul's Church by the Lake in Chicago.
She was united in marriage to Wiliam C. Kissane in 1960 and he passed away in 1966.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou (Thomas) Roby of Montgomery, IL; brother-in-law, John Kissane of Chicago; nephews, Steven Roby of St. Charles, Keith (Melinda) Eckerson of Genoa; niece, Kimberly (Donald) Rhodes and Kathy (David) Matison of Elgin; her great-nephews and great-nieces, Timothy Johnson of Sandwich, IL, Matthew Johnson of Buda, IL, Nicholas (Brandie) Johnson of Michigan, Christopher Roby of Oswego, and Jason Roby of St. Charles, Stephanie Johnson of Spring Valley, Cassandra Rhodes of Elgin, Brandon and Chase Eckerson of Genoa.
Preceded by her parents; her husband; her sister, Mary Jo Eckerson; and her nieces, Pamela Roby Johnson and Susan Janik Roby.
At Margo's request there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be at a later date for the immediate family. Laird Funeral Home in Elgin is in charge of services. Omission of flowers is requested and memorials may be given to the family.

Edith L. Laumann
Edith L. Laumann, aged 84, of Elgin, formerly south side of Chicago, died November 18, 2002 at St. Joe.
Edith was born January 15, 1918 in Chicago.
Survivors include her husband, Charles, three children, Kenneth (Jackie) Laumann of Grand Junction, CO., Robert (Shirley) Laumann of Bourbonnais, IL., Carol (Ron) Piotrowicz of Downers Grove, IL., seven grandchildren Rahonda, Dan, Laura, Scott, Amy, Cristi, Sara, and nine Great-grandchildren Ethan, Kora, Joshua, Paige, Amber Grace, Nicholas, Skye, Sage, and Hannah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Loretta Messner, one son, Richard "Dickie", and one brother Robert.
Funeral will be held Saturday, November 30, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. at the Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. 847/741-1128.

Margaret C. Lund
Margaret C. Lund, 93, of Elgin died November 19, 2002. Margaret was born June 6, 1909 in Nahma, MI and was the daughter of Martin and Mabel Kousbaugh. After moving to Elgin, IL in 1927, Margaret entered Nurse's training at St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, and graduated in 1931. She continued at St. Joseph Hospital as a Registered Nurse, completing her career as Director of Nursing and retiring in 1968.
Margaret and her husband Eddy, have been members of the Elgin Unitarian-Universalist Church for 66 years. Margaret taught in the Sunday School and sang in the choir. In addition to her church activities, she was a member of the Elgin Woman's Club.
In her family life, her nursing career, her church work, and her many friendships, Margaret was a model of Enthusiasm and devotion. She will be remembered for the love and joy she brought to all who knew her.
Margaret is survived by her husband Eddy, Two sons, Clark E. Lund and wife Brigid, and Bruce S. Lund, and wife Mary, and grandson Matthew of Novi, MI, and her sister Opal Nowakowski of Elgin. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Anne Hansen, June Haas and one brother, George Kousbough.
A private memorial service will be held at graveside. Dan Brosier, minister of the Elgin Unitarian-Unversalist Church will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Elgin Unitarian-Universalist Church. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, in charge of arrangements.
