Margaret (Struckman) Carey
Margaret (Struckman) Carey, 85, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, formerly of Elgin, died Sunday, November 16, 2003. She was born in 1918.
Mrs. Carey moved to Florida in 1974.
She is survived by her sisters, Maxine Van Dusen and Lucille Kleiser.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Carey and her brother, George Struckman and sister in-law, Dorothy Struckman.
Funeral services were private.
Frederick Kosche
Frederick Kosche, 83, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, November 18 in Sherman Hospital. He was born September 19, 1920 in Chicago and was the son of Walter and Dorothy Kosche. He had been employed by the Post office in Chicago, Hoffman Estates, and Roselle for 35 years before retiring. He then worked part time for Little City. He was a Veteran, having served in the Navy during W.W.II.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 799 of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Marianne; two daughters, Sandra (Ron) Mamajek of Bartlett, IL and Nancy (Greg) Materko of Carpentersville, IL; one son, Michael (Melissa) Kosche of Poplar Grove, IL; three grandchildren, Jennifer and Matthew Mamajek, David Materko; two great-grandchildren, Flor and Paloma Materko; two sisters, Edith Hernandez and Alice Huerta; three brothers, Victor (Inez) Kosche, Earl Kosche, and Ralph Kosche.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Donald; one grandson, Daniel Mamajek; one sister, Violet; one brother, Albert.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home with Rev. Olin Sletto officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Edward Schuld
Edward Schuld, 95, of Elgin, passed away November 18, 2003. He was born March 12, 1908 in Elgin and was the son of Henry and Louise Schuld. Edward was a resident of Elgin for all of his life, and had been in the heating service business for many years prior to his retirement.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Elgin, a fifty-year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #799, and a member of the Fox Valley Saddle Club.
He is survived by his son, John (Jackie) Schuld of WI; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Mable Wendt of Carpentersville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura, in 1999; his sister, Loulu Boeske; his four brothers, William, Arthur, Rudolph, and Henry, Jr.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Elgin with the Rev. Olin Sletto officiating. Private burial will be in Huntley cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Provena St. Joseph Hospital Regional Cancer Care Center or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Laird Funeral Home in Elgin in charge of services.
PFC Scott Matthew Tyrrell,
US Army 299th Charlie Co
PFC Scott Matthew Tyrrell, US Army 299th Charlie Co., serving in Iraq, died Thursday, November 20, 2003 in Brooke Army Medical Center, Ft. Sam Houston, TX. He was born June 20, 1982 in Aurora, IL, the son of Arnold Tyrrell and Susan Alcorn Tyrrell.
Scott attended Oregon schools and started at Oregon High School, then finishing and graduating from Sterling High School, Class of 2000. He served with the Army during the Afghanistan conflict as a member of Special Forces.
He is survived by his mother, Susan Tyrrell of Forreston; father and step mother, Arnold (Kathleen) Tyrrell of Polo; maternal grandmother, Ida Mae Alcorn of Aurora; paternal grandmother, Mary Tyrrell of Sandwich; a sister, Kelly (Mike) Zitelman of Dixon; a brother, Joseph Tyrrell of Forreston; a niece, two nephews; aunts and uncles, Peg Rhodes, Pat Johnson, Greg (Cynthia) Alcorn, Ann (Jim) Savage, Roger Alcorn, Nancy (Robert) Kell, Jane (Jim) Pauly, and Mary Beth (Chris) Mitchell; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Eldred Alcorn; paternal grandfather, Ivan Tyrrell; and uncles, Robert Alcorn and Jim Rhodes.
Christian Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 29, 2003 at 10 AM in St. Mary Catholic Church, 301 N. 4th Street, Oregon with Rev. Paul White celebrating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, November 28th from 2 to 8 PM in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th St., Oregon.
Raymond L. Wilkie
Raymond L. Wilkie, 79, of Elgin, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2003 in Sherman West Court, Elgin. He was born March 20, 1924 in Fredericksburg, Iowa and was the son of Floyd and Alice (Pierce) Wilkie. Ray was a graduate of Alpha Iowa High School in 1952. He was a Veteran and served in the U.S. Army from January 17, 1949 until September 4, 1951, and received the Purple Heart for a wound on April 25, 1951. He moved to IL, and farmed in the Barrington area until 1971. Ray then moved to Elgin and had worked at the Kane County Highway Department until his retirement in 1990.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin.
He is survived by three sisters, Charlotte Woolery, Grace (Stanley) Hastings, and Dorothy (Alvin) Denny of Klemme, IA; his sister-in-law, Elva Wilkie of Enterprise, OR; his aunt, Ruby Pierce of Fredericksburg, IA; his brothers-in-law, Lawrence (Betty) Miller, Leonard (Cornelia) Miller, Wallace (Elizabeth) Miller, Richard (Virginia) Miller, all of Elgin, IL, Harold (Mary) Miller of Reedsburg, WI and Robert (Mary Lou) Miller of Genoa, IL; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Wilkie on October 24, 2003; his parents; two sisters, Mildred Woolery and Muriel Paulsen; one brother, Verne Wilkie.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin with Rev. Andrew Plesa officiating. Burial will be Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Saturday in the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the church.
Angeline K. Wright
Angeline K. Wright, 84, of Elgin died Wednesday at Heritage Manor.
Angeline was an Elgin resident for over 45 years and had worked as a clerk for Lee Wards and David C. Cook Publishing. She was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin, an active member of the St. Mary's Women's Guild #3, and a member of the Catholic Daughters.
Angeline was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Sylvester Mayr of Windsor, WI; one brother-in-law, Chester Carver of Lombard; one daughter-in-law, Donna (eugene) wright; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Creg; five children, Mildred (Ross Bentley) Dorwaldt of Hampshire, eugene wright of Elgin, Ronald (Carol Biskup) Wright of Bartlett, Lucille (Ralph) McMahon of Elgin, Ralph Nathan (Patricia) Wright of Montgomery; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Isabelle (Art) Haas of Colby, WI, Marie Carver of Lombard, Margarette (Clemie) Hiendl of Stetsonville, WI; five brothers, Joseph Mayr of Columbus, WI, Leander (June) Mayr of Littleton, CO, Julius (Bridgette) Mayr of DeForest, WI, Bernard (Beverly) Mayr of DeForest, WI; one sister-in-law, Wilma Mayr of Windsor, WI.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin with Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Seisser officiating. Entombment will be at Mt. Hope cemetery.

Martha H. Cupp
Martha H. Cupp, 74 of Elgin passed away Friday, November 19, 2004 in Sherman Hospital West Court. She was born February 1, 1930 in August County, Virginia, near Staunton, she was the daughter of Boyd and Anna Cupp. She graduated from Bridgewater College with a BA degree and taught school in Augusta County, Virginia for nine years before moving to Elgin in 1960 where she taught fourth grade at Bartlett School for 29 years. She was a beloved teacher. following retirement, she worked at the Church of the Brethren General Offices, processing subscriptions for the Messenger, the denominational magazine. She had many friends and loved to travel, she was a reader and flower gardener, a member of Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren and a member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Survived by her "sister" and longtime housemate, Doris Walbridge of Elgin; other survivors include her sister, Phyllis (Herman) Miller of Bridgwater, Virginia; a brother, Marcus (Treva) Cupp of Verona, Virginia; eight nieces and nephews; and several grandnieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 11 AM at the Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren with Rev. Joel Kline and Rev. Jeanne Davies officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on December 4th from 9:30 AM until the time of services in church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given tot he Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth H. Kamp
Kenneth H. Kamp, 76, formerly of Elgin, passed away November 19, 2004 at his home in Bonita Springs, FL. He was born on January 12, 1928 to Herman and Anna Kamp of Barrington, IL. He worked for Chicago Gravel Co. in Elgin before retiring in 1984 and moving from Elgin to Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce I. Kamp; his children, Jackie (Terry) Bromm, Steven (Susan) Kamp, Kathleen Eagle, Brenda (Terry) Propp and Kenneth Kamp Jr.; nine grandchildren; and his brother, Herman (Mary) Kamp of Carpentersville, IL.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Orrie, Verdell Calbow, Raymond, Gladies, Genette Rosen, Wesley, Bernice, Ruth, Arlene Raymond, Robert and Bettyann Harvel Kamp.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with burial to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
Esther Bergquist
Esther Bergquist, 86, of Chicago, formerly of Crystal Lake, died Friday, November 14, 2003 at Warren Barr Pavillion in Chicago.
She was born on September 19, 1917 in Dundee, IL, the daughter of Frank and Ida (nee Unruh) Heidmann. On August 23, 1941, she married
Alfred Bergquist in Dundee, IL.
She had been employed by the Elgin Watch Company before her marriage and then enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family. Activities she enjoyed were playing the piano and baking. She was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Crystal Lake and belonged to many women's groups.
Survivors include her five children, Carol (Myron) Kovalevych of Chicago, Claire Bergquist of Chicago, Sarah (Rick) Ewald of Spring Grove, Mary Bergquist of Harvard and Don Bergquist of Crystal Lake; two grandchildren, Alishya Kovalevych and Eric Ewald; two sisters, Ruth Riedel and Dorothy Wahl; and a brother, Marc (Claire) Heidmann.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Alfred Bergquist on June 5, 1992.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until the 1 PM memorial service on Saturday, November 29, 2003 at the Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL, 60014 with Pastor Nathan Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Crystal Lake Memorial Park in Crystal Lake.

Alice Chamberlain
Alice Chamberlain, 72, of Elgin passed away Friday, November 21, 2003 in Sherman Hospital. She was born May 17, 1931 in Gagen, Wisconsin and was the daughter of Cyrus and Vera Fish.
She had been a resident of Elgin since 1969 and was a member of the Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis (Josie) Stefonek of Marathon, WI and Scott Stefonek of Rhinelander, WI; two daughters, Diana (Norman) Dowlen of Panhandle, TX and Beverly (Frank) Hanson of Elgin; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; four sisters, Janet (Henry) Boynton, Margaret (George) Mallas, Betty (Les) Gamber and Ruth (Al) Hilberg; and two brothers, Harvey (Lena) Fish and Delbert Fish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond in 1993; and a son, Steven.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 10 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Carl Myers officiating. Burial will be private in Marengo City cemetery.
Visitation will be in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin on Monday from 8 AM until time of services.

William Frazier, 85, World War II Army veteran, longtime Elgin resident, employee of USPS and owner of Speedy Charlie Delivery Service, passed away Friday, November 14, 2003.
Father of Farvett Livingston and Marilyn McClain of Texas and the late Pamella Frazier; grandfather of four. Also survived by sister, Evelyn Lewis and others; and nephew, Wilmer Frazier and others all of Texas. Longtime friend of Christine Cothran of Kansas City, MO and James Dorsey of Elgin.

Paul A. Ross
Paul A. Ross, of Batavia went to be with his Savior on Thursday, November 20, 2003 at Provena McAuley Manor, Aurora. He was born April 21, 1913 in Wasco, IL to Alfred and Anna (Johnson) Ross.
Paul was raised in a one-parent household after the death of his father at age 9. He graduated from St. Charles High School. For over 20 years, he ran the Wasco family farm on Brown Road.
He was united in marriage to Mabel R. Malmquist on December 18, 1948 in St. Croix Falls, Wisc.
In the summer of 1953, Paul began work at Burgess-Norton Mfg, Geneva in the quality assurance department where he worked for 29 years. Later in the fall, Paul's family moved to Batavia. In 1959, he helped design a new home to which the family moved later that fall. He also worked part-time as a house painter and as a custodian at the Batavia Public Library.
After his retirement in 1982, with a passion for the hungry, Paul volunteered for delivery work with the Aurora Area Interfaith Pantry. His old Buick became filled with bread loaves to the ceiling along with other groceries. Also, he collected countertop boxes for World Vision and raised nearly $29, 000 in ten years.
In the last year, Paul was a resident of Provena McAuley Manor, Aurora. There a loving Christian community surrounded him.
Paul was a member of the West Chicago Bible Church where he served as an usher.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel R. Ross of Batavia; his son, John P. Ross of Batavia; his daughter, Betsy E. (Alan) Phillips of Batavia; his grandchildren, David Phillips and Matthew Phillips of Batavia; and his niece, Betty I. (David) Swanberg of Santa Anna, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Helen (Einar) Free and Alvida (Lloyd) Cordes; and his brother, Imon Ross.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, November 24, 2003 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia, IL with Rev. Dr. William A. Lewis officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 AM to the beginning of the funeral service. Interment will be in Batavia West cemetery.
