Robert E. Hemmingsen
Robert E. Hemmingsen, age 88, of Elgin, passed away Friday, November 26, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born August 30, 1916 in Danville, IL, the son of Neils and Magda (Jessen) Hemmingsen, who immigrated from Denmark making Robert a first generation American.
On June 21, 1944, he married
Ruth M. Lace. He worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years and, after retiring from carpentry, he worked as a clerk for the United States Post Office in Elgin for 16 years.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served for 6 years, from 1940 thru 1946, on the cargo ship, U.S.S. Spica, traveling to numerous ports in Alaska, including the Aleutian Chain and many islands in the South Pacific. His fondest memory was traveling under secret orders with Admiral Byrd's ice pilot aboard to navigate through the icebergs over the Arctic Circle to Point Barrow and Prudoe Bay.
Robert was a member of the Woodstock American Legion and Woodstock's Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 5040. He also had served as Coral Township Clerk in McHenry County. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Union and later St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Elgin. Lifelong service included Board member, Deacon, usher and bell ringer.
His pastimes included bowling leagues, hunting and fishing in Canada, and vacationing in his motor home across the United States.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a son Dean (Diane) of Elgin; two daughters, Marsha (Robert) Claybrook of Cathedral City, CA and Nancy (Richard) Peterson of Normal, IL; three grandsons, Bradley and Adam Hemmingsen and Matthew Peterson; one brother, Henry Hemmingsen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Jesse, Franklin, Guy, Donald (Scotty) and Leyton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 220 Division St., Elgin. Burial will be in Algonquin cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM, Monday, November 29, at Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin, and on Tuesday at the church from 9 AM, until the time of service. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Branden Wayne McClinsey
Branden Wayne McClinsey, 21, of Elgin, IL passed away Sunday, November 28, 2004 at his home. He was born November 9, 1983 in St. Charles, IL, son of Allen and Joyce McClinsey.
Survivors include his mother, Joyce McClinsey of Elgin; his father, Allen McClinsey of Elgin; his sister, Rebecca Graves of Elgin; grandmother, Elaine Atchison; aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will take place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. Visitation will be Monday from 4-9 p.m. at Madison Funeral Home. Interment Bartlett cemetery.

Marian W. Chernick
Marian W. Chernick (nee Wojnarowski, age 76, a resident of Elk Grove Village for 45 years, died Thursday, November 24, 2005 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. She was born in Chicago, IL.
She was a homemaker and a former member of the Elk Grove Garden Club.
Beloved husband, the late Ronald L. Chernick (1996); loving sons, David R. (Christine M.) Chernick and Jeffrey J. (Lynn M. Zeitler) Chernick; loving daughters, Gail C. (Bryan T.) Hand and the late Nancy J. Chernick (1975); fond sister, Irene T. Warner; Cherished grandchildren, Johnathan D. Chernick, Matthew R. Chernick, Michael J. Chernick, Keith R. Chernick, Stephanie M. Hand, Timothy Ronald Hand, Sam and Alex Chernick.
Funeral service will be Monday, November 28, 2005 at Grove Memorial Chapel. Interment will be at St. Michael cemetery in Palatine
Alice Juhnke
Alice Juhnke of Elgin, formerly of Arlington Heights, was born April 12, 1907 in Wheeling Township, to Emil and Emma (nee Baumann) Gosch. She died Sunday, November 27, 2005 at Heritage Manor in Elgin.
Alice was a seamstress in the drapery industry and former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mt. Prospect.
Her survivors include her daughter, Diane Allison; her step-son, Albert Juhnke; and many nieces and nephews; and many grandchildren through marriage to Albert Juhnke.
Alice is preceded in death by her husbands, Ben Maschoff and Albert Juhnke; her sisters, Alma Sander, Martha Hassig and Lillian Schmiege; and her brother, Al Gosch.
Memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., Arlington Heights.
Bessie June Rediger
Bessie June Rediger, 91, of St. Charles passed away Sunday, November 27, 2005 at Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL.
She was born November 4, 1914 in Freeport, IL, the daughter of William and Edith (Dolby) Schneider.
She is survived by her son, David (Pamela) of Aurora; grandchildren, Aaron (Sarah), Brandon (Tiffany), Sharon, Karyn and Nathan; brothers, Robert (Doris) of Elgin and Stanley (Joan) Schneider of Rockford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Edith, Dorothy, William and Edward; and by her husband, Daniel in 1996.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 2, 2005 at 10:30 AM at the Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St. (Rt. 38), Geneva with Pastor Rick Weesner officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park cemetery in Elgin, IL.

Vivian R. Schultz (nee Allen)
Vivian R. Schultz (nee Allen), 87, of Elgin passed away Friday, November 25, 2005 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. She was born on August 25, 1918 in Elgin, IL. Vivian had worked at JC Penney's in Elgin, she also worked at the First National Bank of Chicago in the fraud department of the credit card division. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Elgin, the Fox Valley Women's Bowling Association and a Hall of Fame inductee.
Survivors include two children, Cheryl (Robert) Heneise of McHenry and Allen (Janice) Schultz of Elgin; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Marcia, Robin, Joseph and Julie; seven great grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward L. Schultz in 1973; and three brothers.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Memorials may be made to Sherman Hospital Cancer Care Center, Elgin.
Tamara J. Stewart
Tamara J. Stewart, 35, of Elgin passed away Thursday, November 24, 2005 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 21, 1970 and was the daughter of Al and Trish Sowka Bonitzer. Tamara graduated from Burlington High School in 1988, and Elgin Community College Nursing School. Tamara was a loving mother and will be deeply missed. She was a Registered Nurse, and had worked at Sherman Hospital and St. Alexius Medical Center.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Chad of Elgin; two dear children, Jennah and Samantha Stewart; her father, Al (Nancy) Bonitzer II of East Dundee; her mother, Trish Bonitzer of East Dundee; her brother, Al Bonitzer III; and sister, Ashley Bonitzer.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 12 Noon in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will follow in Prairie cemetery in St. Charles, IL. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 9 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a TRUST FUND AT EFS BANK to be used for Tamara's children's education.
Gerhard "Gay" Broeker
Gerhard "Gay" Broeker, 95, of Elgin passed away November 29, 2004 in the Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. He was born on July 11, 1909 in Germany, the son of Fred and Minne Broeker. In early years, he had been the Vice President of Ludwig Milk Co. and latter years, he was associated with Majestic Distributing Co. He was a life member of the Elgin Elk's Lodge BPOE #737, the Elgin Country Club, a member of the National Rifle Association and a past member of the Kane County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma (nee Sandell) of Elgin; two children, John Broeker and Robert (Carol) Broeker both of Elgin, IL; two step children, Linda Sandell of St. Louis, MO and Mark (Janet) Sandell of Bartlett, IL; two grandchildren, Todd (Beth) Broeker and Tracy (Gregg) Sadlon; two step grandchildren, Kevin and Katie Sandell; four great grandchildren, Evan, Tia, Brandon and Nora; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his patents; and his first wife, Eleanor Broeker in 1968.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin at 1 PM with Rev. John Rodgers officiating. Private burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 12 Noon until the time of services. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
James D. Fillmore
James D. Fillmore, 77, of Elgin passed away Saturday, November 27, 2004 at Rosewood Care Center in Elgin. He was born in Rockford on October 8, 1927, the son of Charles and Virginia Fillmore.
Surviving are his wife, June Fillmore whom he married
on April 30, 1966; a daughter, Dawn (Jeffery) Baron of Elgin; and three grandchildren, Alyssa, Philip and Nathan Baron.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Richard and Joseph Fillmore.
The family would like to thank all care givers from Rosewood Care Center, Sherman and Provena St. Joseph Hospitals and Rush Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago that provided help to Jim when he needed it most over this past year and all doctors and nurses were much appreciated during this time. A special thank you to the people from hospice for helping me to "let go" and the compassion they show when people are in need.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin with Rev. Richard Stiltner officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 7:30 PM.
Fred Martin
Fred Martin, 80, of Carpentersville passed away Sunday, November 28, 2004 at Sherman Hospital. He was born August 2, 1924 in Detroit, MI, the son of Fred and Princess Hill Martin.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Diane; his loving children, Steve (Fay), Scott (Denise), and Tracy; his devoted grandchildren, Jacob, Andrew, Adam, Dawn, Doug, and Joseph; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Alexis, Larkin, and Skyler.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Edna Frost Scheer
Edna Frost Scheer, 93, of East Dundee, former many year resident of Penny Road, South Barrington, died Sunday, November 28, 2004 at her home. She was born on October 24, 1911 in Palatine, Illinois. She was the daughter of Louis and Anna (nee Dierker) Frost.
Edna was a lifelong resident of the Dundee-Barrington and Palatine areas. She was a long time member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of East Dundee.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy of East Dundee; her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Scheer of East Dundee; her granddaughter, Sheryl (Mark) Sandahl of Duluth, Minnesota; her grandson, Steven (Michelle) Scheer of Houston, Texas; her two great-grandsons, Darryl and Jonathan Scheer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Walter W. Scheer, whom she married
on September 21, 1935 and who preceded her on January 10, 1999; her son, Kenneth in 1972; her brother, Louis Frost; and her sisters, Mathilda, Emma, Alma, and Amanda.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. William P. Yonker, Senior Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 from 3-7 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Hassie Katherine Evans
Hassie Katherine Evans, 71, of Manteno passed away November 21, 2005 at Riverside Medical Center. She was born July 24, 1934 in Chenoa, KY to Lloyd and Rosie (Osbourne) Webb.
She married
William James Evans on July 21, 1953 in Middlesboro, KY where he now resides. Hassie was employed at Riddle, Inc as a seamstress for 29 years, retiring in 1999. She attended Willow Creek Community Church in Barrington, IL. She loved quilting, cooking and gardening.
She is survived by her sons, Vernon and Carol Evans of Lake Station, IN and William Evans Jr. of Kankakee; daughters, Dorcas Evans of Kankakee and Joyce and Mark Westenberg of Hampshire, IL; sister, Bessie (Harold) Farris of Middlesboro, KY; brother, Lloyd Webb Jr of Houston, TX; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, JB (Mildred) Webb; sisters, Georgie (Joe) Kovla, Leone (Bob) Hunter and Sadie (Bill) Hunter; and sister-in-law, Wanda Webb.
Visitation and funeral services were held on November 25, 2005 in the Kankakee Chapel of Schreffler Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Dace officiating. Burial was at Mound Grove cemetery.

Anna Rosa Jerg
Anna Rosa Jerg, 99, of Crystal Lake, formerly of West Dundee, died Monday, November 28, 2005 at The Fountains in Crystal Lake.
She was born in Tuttlingen, Germany, April 28, 1906, the daughter of Christian and Anna (nee Ziegler) Martin.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Betty (William) Gauthier of Sleepy Hollow; three grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Fanny Houser of Chicago.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis Jerg, on October 7, 2002, whom she married
September 12, 1929 in Chicago.
There will be no visitation. Services and Interment will be private.
