Alice Juhnke
Alice Juhnke of Elgin, formerly of Arlington Heights, was born April 12, 1907 in Wheeling Township, to Emil and Emma (nee Baumann) Gosch. She died Sunday, November 27, 2005 at Heritage Manor in Elgin.
Alice was a seamstress in the drapery industry and former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mt. Prospect.
Her survivors include her daughter, Diane Allison; her step-son, Albert Juhnke; and many nieces and nephews; and many grandchildren through marriage to Albert Juhnke.
Alice is preceded in death by her husbands, Ben Maschoff and Albert Juhnke; her sisters, Alma Sander, Martha Hassig and Lillian Schmiege; and her brother, Al Gosch.
Memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., Arlington Heights.
Bessie June Rediger
Bessie June Rediger, 91, of St. Charles passed away Sunday, November 27, 2005 at Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL.
She was born November 4, 1914 in Freeport, IL, the daughter of William and Edith (Dolby) Schneider.
She is survived by her son, David (Pamela) of Aurora; grandchildren, Aaron (Sarah), Brandon (Tiffany), Sharon, Karyn and Nathan; brothers, Robert (Doris) of Elgin and Stanley (Joan) Schneider of Rockford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Edith, Dorothy, William and Edward; and by her husband, Daniel in 1996.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 2, 2005 at 10:30 AM at the Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St. (Rt. 38), Geneva with Pastor Rick Weesner officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park cemetery in Elgin, IL.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 1st from 5 to 9 PM at the Malone Funeral Home, Geneva.
Dorothy K. Bizzak
Dorothy K. Bizzak, 87, formerly of Peru and Elgin passed away November 27 at the Pocopson Home in Westchester, PA, where she resided the past three years.
She was born June 20, 1916 in Henry, IL to George J. Staab and Agnes K. Schmitz.
She married
Frank Bizzak on January 13, 1940 at St. Joseph Church, Peru, IL. He preceded her in death in October 1987. She retired from the Elgin Watch Co., Elgin, IL.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald (Deborah) Bizzak of Malvern, PA and William (Renee) Bizzak of Sierra Vista, AZ; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude Bryant of Spring Valley Nursing Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson; three sisters; one brother.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 in the Shinkus-Helmer-Staab Funeral Home with Rev. John Onderko officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Forrest Lawn Memory Garden. Memorials to donor's choice.
Florence Anna Hanson
Florence Anna Hanson, 90, of Elgin, IL passed away Thursday in the Rosewood Care Center, Inverness, IL.
She was born March 25, 1913 in Sac City, Iowa and was the daughter of Rose and John Lane.
Florence graduated from Elgin High School, and had worked at the Elgin National Watch Factory for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Elgin Bible Church.
She is survived by three sisters, Muriel (Horton) Pfingsten of Elgin, Evelyn (Howard) Ewing of Campbell, CA and Helen (Emory) Thurnau of Seattle, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip H. Hanson in 1985; and two sisters, Ruby Donald and Esther (Norman) Peaslee.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at 1 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Phil Congdon officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 7 PM in the funeral home.
Phillip P. Prevenas
Phillip P. Prevenas, 49, of Hampshire, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2003 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
He was born February 10, 1954 in Roselle, the son of Peter and Helen (Chmura) Prevenas. Phil was a 1972 graduate of Lake Park High School.
Mr. Prevenas was a journeyman pipefitter for 23 years, most recently for Standard Industrial and Automotive Equipment Inc., and was a member of the Pipefitter's Union Local 105. He enjoyed cars of all kinds, but especially Corvettes.
Surviving are his wife Jacki (Packard) Prevenas whom he married
July 24, 1997 in Woodstock; son, Stephen Prevenas of St. Charles; stepdaughter Erin Kathleen Kelley of Ann Arbor, MI; sister, Priscilla Hallet of Texas, and brothers Peter Prevenas of Sycamore and Paul Prevenas of Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Thomas Norman Thompson
Thomas Norman Thompson, 48, of Elgin passed away peacefully Friday, November 28, 2003 in his home.
He was born October 2, 1955 in Elgin and was the son of Philip T. and Betty (Wilkin) Thompson.
He graduated from Elgin High School in 1973. He worked for Flexonics and did roofing, siding and was a bartender for Chateau Louise. He was a machinist for Thomas Engineering and for Elgin Industries. He had been active in softball, bowling, ice hockey and hunting and followed baseball and football. He and his wife were avid fishermen. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #799 of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Karen (Hipple) Thompson, whom he had been married
to for 16 years; a son, Thomas Edward (Jane) Thompson of Elgin; his mother, Betty Hopkins of Elgin, a brother, Ronald Thompson of Madison, Wisconsin; his mother and father-in-law, George and Carol Hipple of Elgin; and a wealth of friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1986; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and an uncle, Ronald W. Wilkin in World War II.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at 7 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St, Elgin with Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 PM until the time of services.

David W. Beckman Sr.
David W. Beckman Sr., 65, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2004 in his home. He was born March 10, 1939 in Elgin and was the son of William and Pauline Beckman. He had been a resident of Elgin all his life. He was a graduate of St. Laurence Grade School and St. Edward High School. He had been employed by Rohlwing Brothers Tire Co. for many years before retiring.
Member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. 45 year member of Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Louann (Ken) Swedberg of Arlington Heights, IL and Rosemary (Ralph) Parczany of Crystal Lake, IL; three sons, David W. (Diane) Beckman Jr. of Ft. Worth, TX, Daniel (Margaret) Beckman of Belvidere, IL, and Donald Beckman of Findlay, OH; nine grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Beckman of Albany, WI; and a brother, William (Sherry) Beckman of Minnesota.

State St, Elgin, on Friday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and then on Sturday at the church from 1:00 P.M. until time of the Mass. Gerhard "Gay" Broeker
Gerhard "Gay" Broeker, 95, of Elgin passed away November 29, 2004 in the Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. He was born on July 11, 1909 in Germany, the son of Fred and Minne Broeker. In early years, he had been the Vice President of Ludwig Milk Co. and latter years, he was associated with Majestic Distributing Co. He was a life member of the Elgin Elk's Lodge BPOE #737, the Elgin Country Club, a member of the National Rifle Association and a past member of the Kane County Sheriff's Mounted Patrol.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma (nee Sandell) of Elgin; two children, John Broeker and Robert (Carol) Broeker both of Elgin, IL; two step children, Linda Sandell of St. Louis, MO and Mark (Janet) Sandell of Bartlett, IL; two grandchildren, Todd (Beth) Broeker and Tracy (Gregg) Sadlon; two step grandchildren, Kevin and Katie Sandell; four great grandchildren, Evan, Tia, Brandon and Nora; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his patents; and his first wife, Eleanor Broeker in 1968.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin at 1 PM with Rev. John Rodgers officiating. Private burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 12 Noon until the time of services. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Richard J. Dwyer
Richard J. Dwyer, 87, of East Dundee died Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at Sherman West Court in Elgin. He was born December 1, 1917 in Hancock, Michigan to Richard J. and Collette (nee Kruger) Dwyer. He was a carpenter by trade for 50 years and a member of the Carpenters Local #13. He was a member of the American Legion Post #76, the VFW Post #1408, the Elgin Marine Corp. League Detachment 077 where he served as chaplain for years. He was a World War II Navy veteran where he served as a sea bee.
He is survived by his wife, Grace (nee DeSantis); his daughters, Lisa M. Dwyer of Algonquin and Kathleen Petersen of Elgin; his grandchildren, Joshua and Jaime Petersen of Burlington and Timothy Dwyer Jr. of DeKalb; his step children, Christine Fonda of Milton, WV, Jeffrey Fond of NC; step grandson, Jack Fonda of NC; and his sisters, Elizabeth "Betsy" Payton and Mary Luksa both of Wickenberg, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Timothy Dwyer; and his sisters, Dorothy Migalla and Collette Dwyer.
Funeral Services will be 10 AM Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Duane Gilbertson
Duane Gilbertson, 64, of Wisconsin, formerly of Elgin, passed away Friday, November 26, 2004 at his home. He was born May 18, 1938 in Elgin, the son of Robert and Vera Hopp Gilbertson.
Duane was raised in Elgin, having attended grade school and graduating from Elgin High School. For many years, he worked as a bartender in Elgin, working at Floyd's Restaurant in Carpentersville and the Blue Moon. He moved to Augusta, WI in 1997 where he enjoyed farming, raising beef cattle and horses.
Survivors are his daughter, Susan Gilbertson of Bloomington, IL; his mother, Betty Gilbertson of Elgin; a brother, Arthur Gilbertson of Augusta; and two sisters, Vivian Reh of Augusta and Barbara (Jack) Weidmann of North Aurora and their families.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 3, 2004 at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-9 p.m. at Madison Funeral Home.
Gail Ann Horwitt
Gail Ann Horwitt, 52 of West Dundee formerly of Monroe, CT and Richmond, VA died Thursday, November 25, 2004 at the St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffmand Estates, IL.
She was born on November 27, 1951 in Massapequa, Long Island, New York. Gail was a five year resident of the Dundee area. She was employed by Centex Homes of Elgin.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Horwitt; her children, Kyle (Stephanie) Herrman of Los Angeles, CA, Heather (Wes) Magyar of Denver, CO and Kerri Ann Herrman of San Diego, CA; her mother, Helen Schulze Hauff of Milford, New Jersey. Gail is also survived by many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Hauff. Family and friends will be meeting for a memorial service on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road in Huntley. Interment will be private in New Jersey. Gail's family will be receiving family and friends at church from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Barbara E. Kidera
Barbara E. Kidera, 64, of Hampshire, former many year resident of Algonquin, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at her home surrounded by her family, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Woodstock on August 18, 1940. She was the daughter of Henry and Edna A. (nee Klopenstein) Seiling.
Barbara was a lifelong resident of the area, and a 1958 graduate of Dundee Community High School. She was a lifelong member of the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Algonquin, where she participated in the Women's Group and the Sewing and Quilting Group.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, G. Peter Kidera, whom she married
on October 26, 1963 in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Algonquin; their children, Michael (Wanda) Kidera and Kristen (Timothy) Bank of Madison, Wisconsin; six grandsons, Steven, William, Thomas, and James Kidera and John and Matthew Goelzer; her brothers, John and Charles Seiling both of Elgin and Donald Seiling of England.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Roger and her brother, Robert in infancy.
Family and friends will meet for Funeral Services on Friday, December 3, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 321 Jefferson St. in Algonquin. The Rev. William E. Laura V. Miller
Laura V. Miller, 76, of Carpentersville passed away November 29, 2004 at Sherman Hospital. She was born March 31, 1928, the daughter of Adolph and Serena Leetzov Petersdorf.
Survivors include her sons, Gordon (Bonnie) of Florida and John (Donna) of South Elgin; grandchildren, Will, J.C., Madison, and Peyton; sisters, Marie (James) Millmakee of Elgin, Lois Selpien of Bensenville, Ruth Weed of Florida, Barbara (Billy) Hayes of Elgin, Carol (Ed) Bryant of South Elgin; her brother, Robert (Alice) Petersdorf of Elgin; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur Miller in 1981; sisters, Serena Peteresdorf and Irene Selpien; a brother, Marvin Petersdorf and two brothers in infancy, Billy and Harold.

Edna Frost Scheer
Edna Frost Scheer, 93, of East Dundee, former many year resident of Penny Road, South Barrington, died Sunday, November 28, 2004 at her home. She was born on October 24, 1911 in Palatine, Illinois. She was the daughter of Louis and Anna (nee Dierker) Frost.
Edna was a lifelong resident of the Dundee-Barrington and Palatine areas. She was a long time member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of East Dundee.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy of East Dundee; her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Scheer of East Dundee; her granddaughter, Sheryl (Mark) Sandahl of Duluth, Minnesota; her grandson, Steven (Michelle) Scheer of Houston, Texas; her two great-grandsons, Darryl and Jonathan Scheer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Walter W. Scheer, whom she married
on September 21, 1935 and who preceded her on January 10, 1999; her son, Kenneth in 1972; her brother, Louis Frost; and her sisters, Mathilda, Emma, Alma, and Amanda.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. William P. Yonker, Senior Pastor will officiate.
