Marian Eloise Szilage
(nee Garman)
Marian Eloise Szilage (nee Garman), died peacefully November 28, 2004, in the arms of her loving husband at their home in Batavia, IL.
She was born June 3, 1912, the daughter of Harry and Senie (nee Hagerstrom) Garman of Kaneville, IL. Her family moved from Kaneville to Aurora, where she graduated from East Aurora High School. After graduation, Marian went to work for the Western United Gas and Electric Company in Aurora, where she was the Executive Supervisor of the billing department. She also helped her husband and his family found the General Tool Manufacturing Company, later known as Ballco Manufacturing, and worked for many years as the company's bookkeeper.
She loved roses, gardening, harness racing and nourishing the hearts of her family. Her heart was the biggest of all. Marian's gracious entertaining and generosity of spirit made her home the extended family's gathering spot. Marian was an active member of the Illinois Harness Horsemen's Association. She owned several horses, including "Tricky Marian", whom she raised and trained for harness races, and "Tricky Dick N", who won several stake races in Chicago, including the Hawthorne Cup. As much as she loved her family and horses, Marian also loved to travel. She visited Austria, Europe, Spain, Germany, and was received by His Royal Highness Prince Rainer of Monaco. Marian was an active member of the Illinois Republican party and she and her husband supported many candidates in Kane County and Washington, D.C. She was also a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia.
Marian is survived by her husband of 72 years, John Szilage, who was also her high school sweetheart. She often said she loved John the moment she saw him at East Aurora High School. She is also survived by her devoted daughter, Jeannie Sipple Love Szilage of Plainfield, IL; granddaughter Heather (Mike) Wroblewski of Plainfield; grandson Rick (Susan) Love of Naperville; great-granddaughter Morgan Emma Wroblewski of Plainfield and great-grandson Joshua Love of Naperville. In addition to her immediate family, Marian was and will be deeply loved forever by successive generations of the Szilage family, including devoted nieces and nephews from Aurora to Rockford, Indiana to Michigan and Florida, Texas, and Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ford Garman, all of Aurora.
Funeral from The Daleiden Mortuary will be Thursday, December 2, 2004 at 9:45 a.m. to Holy Cross Church at 10:30 a.m. Fr. James Parker will officiate with interment at Lincoln Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a liturgical wake service at 5:30 p.m. at The Daleiden Mortuary, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora, (630)631-5500.

Kathleen I. Woodman
Kathleen I. Woodman, 62, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Itasca and Elgin.
Devoted daughter of Jack and the late Ethel; loving sister of John Jr., (Janice) and the late Jim; proud niece of Marge Ballent; dear Aunt of Jennifer Duffy and John Andrew Woodman; great Aunt of Megan and Ryan Duffy; cousin of many.
Kathleen worked in public relations with Elgin State Hospital and Elgin School District U-46 and owned her own public relations firm in Elgin, Key Communications. Named outstanding Young Woman of Elgin in 1992, received the Marguerite Henry Award for Communications from YWCA in Elgin and she was active in Women's Consel of the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce for many years.
Burial will be Friday 1:30 PM at Queen of Heaven cemetery.

Ronald G. Burkhart
Ronald G. Burkhart, age 61, of West Chicago, formerly of Carpentersville, died Tuesday morning, November 29, 2005 at Central Dupage Hospital in Winfield. He was born on June 20, 1944 in Dawson Springs, KY, the son of Raymond F. and Louella (nee Thomason) Burkhart.
He is survived by his former wife and friend, Veda Burkhart of Ohio; his daughters, Grace Burkhart of Ohio and Kim (Steve) McGlone of Kentucky; his mother, Louella Burkhart of Carpentersville; his brother, Donald "Butch" (Gail) Burkhart of Harwood Heights, IL; his sisters, Lisa (Ray MCConnaughay) Burkhart and Laurie (Elroy) Churkey, both of Carpentersville; many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his twin daughters, Sarah in 2001 and Sandra in 2004; his father, Raymond F. in 2003; and a sister, Linda Graziano in 1986.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2005 at 11:00 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. Robert Baker will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee. For
Frances C. Hendrix "Fran"
Frances C. Hendrix, 69, of South Elgin, joined her husband in their heavenly home Tuesday, November 29, 2005. She was born on August 8, 1936 in Alton, IL and was the daughter of Hugh and Mary (Bodenbach) Williams.
Fran had been employed with the Elgin Mental Health Center for over 20 years, She had owned and operated the Fran's Beauty Salon and Act II Salon in South Elgin. She was a former member of the Larkin Ave. Baptist Church for several years, and is presently a member of the First Baptist Church of Elizabethtown, IL. Frans greatest love was her family and friends, and her devotion and support to them will be sadly missed.
Survivors include her daughter, Tara (Kevin) Bird of Huntley, IL; granddaughter, Tressa Bird of Huntley, IL; two nephews, and their children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John W. Hendrix, on August 8, 2005, to whom she married
on June 21, 1952; her son, Roger in infancy; and her two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2005 at 2:00 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with Rev. Edward Lafferty of Elizabethtown, IL, officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of services in the funeral home.
Leo S. Insalaco
Leo S. Insalaco, 85, formerly of Elgin, IL, died Saturday, November 19, 2005 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
He lived most of his life in Elgin where he was self-employed for many years. He was a proud veteran of WWII. An Army Sergeant, he was awarded the Bronze Star for honor and valor and received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in battle, amongst various other medals. Leo was a long time member of the Elgin Moose Lodge, the VFW and the Purple Hearts.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Jennie (Curce) Insalaco.
Survivors include his current wife of 15 years, June Insalaco of Hot Springs, AR; brother, Matt (Mollie) Insalaco of Elgin; sister, Jennie Hurtado of Elgin, his four daughters, Cathy (Al) Hodek of Santa Claire, CA, Pat (Bob) Rosson of Elgin, Marge (Jim) Maguire of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Lucy Insalaco of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; step sons, Michael (Toni) Shamuluas of Wayland, MI, Jim (Colleen) Wagner of Lane, KS, Dan (Teresa) Wagner of DesMoines, IA; step daughter, Sheryl (Richard) Poore of Elgin, IL; 12 step grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 2nd 5-9 at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin, IL (prayers and eulogies at 7:00 PM). Linda F. Calabrese
Linda F. Calabrese, 54, passed away at Provena Saint Joseph Hospital on Friday, November 29, 2002. Linda was employed at Amax Plating from 1983-2001 and she also worked at Paul's Family Restaurant.
She is survived by her husband, Pat Calabrese; a son, Barry (Beth) Johnson; step sons, Frank (Marie) Calabrese of Lake in the Hills and Anthony (Isela) Calabrese of Elgin; her mother, Mildred Crowe; sisters, Vera Norton and Daphene Frost of Colt, AR, Sue (Henry) Zamudio of Florida, and her twin sister, Glenda (George) Frost of Elgin; brothers, J.W. (Brenda) Crowe of AR, Leon (Terry) Crowe of South Elgin and Rusty (Betty) Crowe of Atkinson, IL; and nine grandchildren.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, William M. Crowe; and a sister, Lavern Arneson.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at 10 AM in the Laird Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Hazelrig officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin, IL.

Thomas W. Hall
Thomas W. Hall, 62, of Lake in the Hills, formerly Carpentersville, died Saturday, November 30, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
He was born on May 4, 1940 in Chicago, the son of George and Minnie (nee Scalzetti) Hall.
Mr. Hall was a resident of the area for 33 years. He was a 36 year employee of United Airlines. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1960. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church of Algonquin.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathleen A. (nee Senne) Hall. They married
on July 29, 1961; five children, Gary (Katherine) Hall and John Hall both of Lake in the Hills, Kelli (John) Svymbersky of Elgin, Christopher Hall of Lake in the Hills and Thomas (Emily) Hall of Sleepy Hollow; four grandchildren, Christopher, Emily, Natalie and Timothy; and a sister, Carolyn Kloss of LaMesa, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Timothy in 1966.
Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday at 10 AM in the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Algonquin. Private burial sill follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 9 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Wednesday in the church from 9 AM until time of Mass.
Patricia L. Hameister
Patricia L. Hameister, 75, of Fontana, Wisconsin, formerly of Elgin, IL passed away Friday, November 29, 2002 in Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
She was born July 31, 1927 in Elgin and was the daughter of William R. and Bertlee Geister. A resident of Elgin most of her life, moving to Lake Geneva in 1998. St attended Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin and was a Pi Beta Phi alumnae. She graduated from Elgin Community College School of Nursing in 1974. She had been employed as a registered nurse at Sherman Hospital and for Dr. Angelo Kugia before retiring. She was an avid swimmer and organized and became leader of the "Aqua Fins" Synchronized Swimming Water Ballet Group. She was a YWCA swimming instructor and a member of the Lake Geneva Water Safety Patrol. She was an on-going member of the Class of 1945 Reunion Committee. She was a past member of the Elgin Junior Women's Club.
Surviving are her husband, William G. Hameister; three daughters, Nancy Hameister and Holly (Phillip) Salisbury of Elgin and Sandra (Bruce) Webb of Walworth, Wisconsin; three sons, William Matt Hameister of Mahtomedi, Minnesota, Jack Andrew (Carol) Hameister of Warrenville, IL and Curtis Jon (Ann) Hameister of Painted Post, New York; six grandchildren; and a brother, Edward J. (Toni) Geister of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Barbara (Robert) Belding; and two brothers, William and Robert Geister.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at 1 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin with Rev. Paris Donehoo officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Monday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the First Congregational Church of Elgin or the the Lake Geneva Water Safety Patrol.
Sigrid J. Paul
Sigrid J. Paul, 92, of Elgin passed away Saturday, November 30, 2002 in Rosewood Care Center.
She was born January 31, 1910 in Elgin and was the daughter of Harold and Anna Halldin.
She was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church.
Surviving are three sons, Richard (Mary) Paul of Carpentersville, James Paul of Elgin and John (Toni) Paul of East Dundee; a daughter, Rosann (Wayne) Autry of Hollow Rock, TN; seven grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Schartow of Carpentersville and Margaret Ebeling of Streamwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Carlton J. Paul in 1983.
Private Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 11:30 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Laurence Catholic Church or to Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
Stojan Preradovic
Stojan Preradovic, 89, of Elgin passed away Friday, November 29, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
He was born February 16, 1913 in Yugoslavia, the son of Trivun and Stanka Preradovic.
He was a member of the Serbian Orthodox Monastery, Third Lake.
Survivors include a daughter, Denise (Gary) Brown of East Dundee; a son, Mark (Glenna) Preradovic; and two granddaughters, Danikka and Martina Preradovic both of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosalie in 1985; four sisters; and three brothers.
Funeral Services will be at 1 PM Tuesday in the Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be on Monday from 1 to 4 PM in the funeral home.
Richard J. Dwyer
Richard J. Dwyer, 87, of East Dundee died Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at Sherman West Court in Elgin. He was born December 1, 1917 in Hancock, Michigan to Richard J. and Collette (nee Kruger) Dwyer. He was a carpenter by trade for 50 years and a member of the Carpenters Local #13. He was a member of the American Legion Post #76, the VFW Post #1408, the Elgin Marine Corp. League Detachment 077 where he served as chaplain for years. He was a World War II Navy veteran where he served as a sea bee.
He is survived by his wife, Grace (nee DeSantis); his daughters, Lisa M. Dwyer of Algonquin and Kathleen Petersen of Elgin; his grandchildren, Joshua and Jaime Petersen of Burlington and Timothy Dwyer Jr. of DeKalb; his step children, Christine Fonda of Milton, WV, Jeffrey Fonda of NC; step grandson, Jack Fonda of NC; and his sisters, Elizabeth "Betsy" Payton and Mary Luksa both of Wickenberg, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Timothy Dwyer; and his sisters, Dorothy Migalla and Collette Dwyer.
Funeral Services will be 10 AM Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Duane Gilbertson
Duane Gilbertson, 64, of Wisconsin, formerly of Elgin, passed away Friday, November 26, 2004 at his home. He was born May 18, 1938 in Elgin, the son of Robert and Vera Hopp Gilbertson.
Duane was raised in Elgin, having attended grade school and graduating from Elgin High School. For many years, he worked as a bartender in Elgin, working at Floyd's Restaurant in Carpentersville and the Blue Moon. He moved to Augusta, WI in 1997 where he enjoyed farming, raising beef cattle and horses.
Survivors are his daughter, Susan Gilbertson of Bloomington, IL; his mother, Betty Gilbertson of Elgin; a brother, Arthur Gilbertson of Augusta; and two sisters, Vivian Reh of Augusta and Barbara (Jack) Weidmann of North Aurora and their families.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 3, 2004 at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-9 p.m. at Madison Funeral Home.
Mary E. Jones
Mary E. Jones, 70, of Elgin, passed away on Monday, November 29 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on November 17, 1934 in Fairbury, Nebraska and was the daughter of Norman and Stella Cox. Mary married
Clark E. Jones in Seattle, WA on January 27, 1959 and they lived in Elgin for most of their married
life.
She was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Elgin.
She is survived by her husband of Elgin; her son, John of Elgin; her two daughters, Katherine of Batavia and Lynette (David) Alsip of Elgin; her grandchildren, Blake and Kelsie Jones, Danielle and Chad Alsip all of Elgin, IL; her mother of Washington; her sister, Carolyn (John) Hildebrand of California; three nieces all of CA.
She was preceded in death by her father and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. in the Lairs Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Martin Blazer officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services in the funeral home.
