Dorothy E. (Hayward) Rover
Dorothy E. (Hayward) Rover, Leavenworth, KS, died Saturday, January 27, 2001 at St. John's Hospital. She was 86.
Dorothy Rover was born July 14, 1914 in Gilberts, IL, the daughter of William H. and Nellie Oleson Hayward. She married William H. Rover on May 11, 1931. He preceded her in death in 1997. Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include two brothers, Virgil Hayward and Gerald Hayward both of Elgin, IL; six sisters-in-law; two daughters, Helen Hughes of Leavenworth, KS and Barbara Patton of Pompano Beach, FL; a son-in-law; six grandchildren, Robert Hughes of Georgia, Cynthia Blachly of Kansas, Lori Ziegler of Ohio, Julie Lane of Florida, Lawrence Minogue, Jr of Georgia and Mary Rasmussen of California; and nine great grand children.
Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother, and will be missed by all.
Memorial Services will be held in West Dundee, IL at a later date.

Donald L. Stoxen
Donald L. Stoxen, 76, of Hampshire, passed away Friday, January 26, 2001 at his home.
He was born April 19, 1924 on the family farm in Hampshire, the son of Harry and Edith (Roth) Stoxen.
Donald was a lifelong farmer in Hampshire and married Mary Jane Mack on December 21, 1955. He was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ in Harmony.
Survivors include five children, Julie (Gary Gilman) Stoxen, Linda (Louis Tisa) Stoxen, Donald Stoxen II, Ann (David) Wesemann and Mary (Thomas) Oehler; nine grandchildren, Joshua, Brett and Alissa Stoxen, Jacob, Liza and Dana Wesemann, Benjamin and Samuel Oehler, and Maggie Stoxen Gilman.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane on April 17, 2000.
Services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, February 3, 2001 at the St. John's United Church of Christ, U.S. Highway 20, in Harmony. A private family burial is planned for a later date in the Harmony cemetery.
In accordance with Mr. Stoxen's wishes, please omit flowers; memorial contributions may be directed to the charity or organization of your choice.
The Fredrick Funeral Home in Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.

Gerald W. "Jerry" Conro
Gerald W. "Jerry" Conro, 77, of Hampshire, passed away Monday, January 27, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
He was born April 7, 1925 in Hampshire the son of William and Delia (Herrmann) Conro. He was a lifelong resident of Hampshire and a 1943 graduate of Hampshire High School. Jerry married Lois D. Martens at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elgin on June 6, 1948.
Mr. Conro was employed by the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and school in Hampshire as custodian and bus driver for 29 years, retiring in 1996. He also drove the bus for District 300 athletic events.
He was a life long member of the St. Charles Boromeo Catholic Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was also a longtime member of the Catholic Order of Foresters serving as Chief Ranger and Youth Director and became an inducted member of the Forester Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996. Mr. Conro served with the Hampshire Volunteer Fire Department from 1968 until the present time. He served on the Hampshire Emergency Medical Service from 1978 until 2001, becoming an EMT in 1981.
Surviving are his wife, Lois, three sons, James (Elizabeth) Conro of St. Charles, David (Judy) Conro of Burlington, Michael (Sheila) Conro and daughter Jean (Rick) Goff, both of Hampshire; 11 grandchildren, Matthew Conro, Sarah (Gary) Kiehnau, Laura (Jesse) Panke, Krystal Sprague, Christopher and Cassandra Conro, Timothy and Kelli Goff, Daniel, Kevin and Kathleen Conro; a brother William (Carol) Conro and a sister, Elaine (Eugene Diedrick, both of Hampshire and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lucille and Charlene, nephew Kim Conro and sister-in-law Anita "Sis" Conro.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 31, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson St., in Hampshire with Monsignor William J. Clausen officiating. Burial will be in the St. Charles Borromeo cemetery in Hampshire.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Frederick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire with Rosary at 3:15 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, masses may be made in his name or memorials to the St. Charles Borromeo School or the Hampshire Ambulance Service.

Lloyd W. Gage
Lloyd W. Gage, 72, of Elgin passed away Saturday January 25, 2003. He was born August 1, 1930, the son of Alvin and Selma (Benjamin) Gage. He retired in 1992 from the Elgin Post Office after 27 years as a letter carrier. He enjoyed spending time with his family and taking his grandchildren to baseball games in St. Louis. He was a collector of jukeboxes, old radios and pinball machines.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie (Benson) whom he married May 19, 1955; two daughters, Paula (Dave) Cohrs of Arizona and Cathy (Karl) Krull of Elgin; grandchildren, Matthew (Katherine) Cohrs of Arizona, Amy Cohrs of Hoffman Estates, Tim Cohrs of Arizona, Daniel and Steve Krull of Elgin; Great-grandson Ethan Cohrs of Arizona; two brothers, Robert Gage of Granite City, IL and Dan (Linda) Boles of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral will be held Thursday, January 30, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St. Elgin with Rev. Thomas Niermann officiating. Burial will be private in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Provena Hospice.

Norma (Hendrickson) Martin
Norma (Hendrickson) Martin, 71, of Elgin, IL passed away Saturday, January 25, 2003 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born August 1, 1932 in Chicago.
Norma was a hostess at Floyd's Restaurant in Carpentersville.
She is survived by her son, James Martin of Elgin; two daughters, Colleen J. Martin of Cape Canaveral, FL and Linda Martin of Bartlett; her brother, Robert Hendrickson of Schaumburg; two grandchildren, Melissa and Joshua; and a great granddaughter, Tamiah.
Friends and relatives will gather from 4 to 8 PM at Floyd's Restaurant, Rt. 31, Carpentersville, IL to celebrate Norma's life.

Doris M. Prindiville
Doris M. Prindiville, 83, of Elgin died January 28, 2003 at Sherman Hospital. She was born November 4, 1919 in Genoa, IL the daughter of Axel and Mabel Overlee.
Survivors include her three daughters, Kathleen (Larry) Heusmann of Chicago Hts., Kristine (Robert) Ash of Elgin, Mary Kay Prindiville of Bartlett, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
preceded in death by her husband, William (Buck) of 62 years and her parents.
Funeral services will be held in O'Connor and Homeier Funeral Home on Friday, January 31, 2003 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Catherine cemetery, Genoa, IL. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 30, 2003 from 3-8 p.m. at O'Connor and Homeier Funeral Home, 364 Division St., Elgin (847) 741-1400.

Alice S. Underwager
Alice S. Underwager, age 71, of Elgin, IL died Saturday, January 25, 2003 at home in South Elgin. She was born August 7, 1931 in Elgin to Steve and Ruth (nee Beckstrom) Pappas. Along with her husband, she had been the owner and operator of the Western Tap in Elgin.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine (Robert) Moorehead of Libertyville, two sons, Edwin (Kathryn) of St. Charles and Andrew (Melissa) of South Elgin, four grandchildren, Andrew, and Ellie Underwager of South Elgin and Molly Underwager of St. Charles and Robert Moorehead of Libertyville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles E. Underwager, whom she married in 1953 and who preceded her on January 20, 2000 and her sister, Irene Anderson in 1999.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Funeral Chapel, with Chaplain Judy Walter of the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice officiating. Burial will be private at Hampshire cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 29 from 5 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Alice's name may be made to either the American Diabetes Association or to the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice, 1245 Corporate Blvd. Aurora, IL 60504.

Richard G. "Dick" Lindquist, Sr.
Richard G. "Dick" Lindquist, Sr. 71, of West Dundee, Hayward Wisconsin and Long Boat Key, Florida formerly of Sleepy Hollow died Monday, January 26, 2004 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota.
He was born October 23, 1932, the son of Glenn H. and Beulah (nee Gurke) Lindquist. Dick was the former co-owner and co-operator for 45 years of Elgin Blueprintery. He was a 50 year member and former Past President of the Elgin Turners. Dick volunteered at the Hayward Carnegie Library and the Northwood's Humane Society. Dick loved to fish, golf and play cards and a die hard Chicago Cubs Fan. He had a great sense of humor and was always quick with a joke.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Margie (nee Steichen) Lindquist. They married on January 9, 1954. Their children; Candance Muzzey of Plato Center, Carrie Mellom of West Dundee and Pam (Randy) Reidl of Hayward, WI. Seven grandchildren; Stacy, Jimmy and Timmy Mellom, Matthew and Michael Lindquist, Kenny and Keely Muzzey. Three brothers; Bruce (Kay) of Cary, NC, Kenneth (Phyllis) and Keith (Donna) both of Hampshire, one sister; Carol (Robert) Taylor of Peach Tree City, GA and a sister-in-law; Phyllis Lindquist of Antioch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son; Richard Jr., Twin daughters in infancy Mary & Carol, three Grandchildren in infancy and a brother Robert.
Family and Friends will meet for funeral mass on Saturday January 31, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. in the St. Catherine Of Siena Church, West Dundee. The Rev. Richard A. Rosinski, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitations will be on Friday from 4-9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Saturday in church from noon until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, masses would be appreciated or memorials to either Hayward Carnegie Library or the Northwoods Humane Society would be appreciated.

Edward Charles Warner
Edward Charles Warner, 74, of Cottonwood Shores, Texas died January 27, 2004. Born on June 3, 1929 in Elgin, Illinois. Edward was the son of Raymond and Florence (Worthy) Warner.
Survivors include his sons Doug and his wife Susan Warner of Steamboat Springs, Colorado and John and his wife Sharon of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Daughter Debbie Warner of Austin, Texas. Brothers Jack Warner of Lexington, Texas and Tom Warner of Dundee, Illinois. Eight Grandchildren, and three Great Grandchildren.
preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis in 2002.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2004 at 3:00 PM in First Lutheran Church of Burnet with Rev. Richard Bremer.

Nathan B. Wessel
Nathan B. Wessel, 21, of Elgin passed away Monday, January 26, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born October 22, 1982 in Elgin, the son of Gregory and Wendy Waterman Wessel. He had been a resident of Elgin all of his life and was a graduate of Larkin High School.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Elgin, a 1985 Easter Seal Telethon Child, and played on Larkin's Wheelchair floor hockey team.
Surviving are his parents; two brothers, Sgt. Keith Wessel, stationed at Camp Roberts, CA, and Drew Wessel of Elgin; paternal grandparents, Tom and Joyce Wessel of Elgin; maternal grandmother, Lynn Schwartz of Elgin; great aunts; a great uncle; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Waterman and Herb Schwartz; his "great grandma", Evelyn Wessel.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 29 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Services and burial will be private for the family. Memorials may be given to Jayne Shover Easter Seal Center or Good Shepherd Lutheran Building Fund.

Mary Catherine Fearn Wiese
Mary Catherine Fearn Wiese, 86, of Mount Ayr, Iowa, formerly of Elgin passed away Monday, January 26, 2004 at Ringgold County Hospital, Mount Ayr. She was born July 31, 1917 in Nokomis, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph and Mellie Fearn. Mary spent her childhood on a farm near Nokomis until her father died when she was 13. She attended school in the farming and coal mining community. After the death of her father, Mary, her mother and brother Joe Fearn moved to Elgin. Mary began working in a garment factory at age 14. After working at the garment factory for a short time she began working at the Elgin National Watch Co., and she then was employed by Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works where she had various jobs for nearly 30 years.
Mary met and later married Elroy Wiese on April 11, 1942. They lived on a farm north of Elgin for a time until the Tollway came and forced them off the farm. They moved to Elgin, making their home on Logan St. until Elroy died in 1975. Mary continued to live in her home until 1979 when she retired and moved to Mount Ayr.
After moving to Mount Ayr, she became very active in community projects. She was an active member of the Ringgold County Hospital Auxiliary, the Mount Ayr Chamber of Commerce, Welcome Wagon, First Christian Church, and Clearview Nursing Home. She was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Rejoicing that she is now with her Lord, she will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Shirley (Gary) Digerness of Escondido, California and Sheila (Bob) Shafer of Mount Ayr; five grandchildren, Devin and Hanna Digerness of San Marcos, CA, Kristin Digerness of Escondido, CA, Michael Shafer (Erin Johnson) of Minnetonka, MN, and Amy Shafer of West Des Moines, IA; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elroy; two brothers, Joseph and Ira Fearn.
Graveside services will be held Friday, January 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services, Elgin Chapel.

Violet Czischki
Violet Czischki age 88, of Elgin, died Thursday, January 26, 2006 at Tower Hill Health Care Center in South Elgin.
She was born in Elgin December 27, 1917. Violet worked as a cook in Elgin restaurants for many years. She married William Czischki on July 11, 1944. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a son, John (Lynne) of Bartlett; a daughter, Peggy (Craig) Pflueger Jr., of Elgin; four grandchildren, Amy Mazzoccoli, Craig Pflueger Jr., Christy Pflueger, and Joshua Czischki; two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Clara Marie (Zuehlke) Zirk; her husband, William on March 9, 1964; one son, William Jr.; two sisters, Betty Raywood and Dorothy Zirk; and a grandson, William Czischki.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 30, at Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin. Rev. James E. Fandrey, Pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the chapel. (847)742-2100
