Eleanor M. Weaver
Eleanor M. Weaver, 82, of Springfield, formerly of Elgin, passed away on January 23, 2004.
She was born May 25, 1921 in Hebron, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur G. and Anna E. (Richter) Schacht. Eleanor was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Elgin, and was a former member of the Moose Lodge in DeKalb. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, loved by all. She was called Ma Weaver, and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by three sons, Gary (Donna) Weaver of Pennsylvania, Larry Weaver of South Elgin, and Ricky (Brenda) Weaver of Elgin; two daughters, Patty Weaver of Springfield, and Darlene (Jim) Heckwine of Mechanicsburg; fourteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lavern Cyrus "Curly" Weaver; a daughter, Marlene Wallace; two brothers, Harold Schacht, and Donald Schacht.
Services will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Vancil Memorial Chapel in Springfield, Illinois 217-525-1500.
Visitation will continue on Thursday, January 29, 2004 from 12:00 p.m. unitl the 2:00 p.m. funeral service at the Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home in Woodstock, Illinois. Interment will follow in the Greenwood cemetery in Greenwood, Illinois.

Nathan B. Wessel
Nathan B. Wessel, 21, of Elgin passed away Monday, January 26, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born October 22, 1982 in Elgin, the son of Gregory and Wendy Waterman Wessel. He had been a resident of Elgin all of his life and was a graduate of Larkin High School.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Elgin, a 1985 Easter Seal Telethon Child, and played on Larkin's Wheelchair floor hockey team.
Surviving are his parents; two brothers, Sgt. Keith Wessel, stationed at Camp Roberts, CA, and Drew Wessel of Elgin; paternal grandparents, Tom and Joyce Wessel of Elgin; maternal grandmother, Lynn Schwartz of Elgin; great aunts; a great uncle; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John Waterman and Herb Schwartz; his "great grandma", Evelyn Wessel.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 29 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Services and burial will be private for the family. Memorials may be given to Jayne Shover Easter Seal Center or Good Shepherd Lutheran Building Fund.

Mary Catherine Fearn Wiese
Mary Catherine Fearn Wiese, 86, of Mount Ayr, Iowa, formerly of Elgin passed away Monday, January 26, 2004 at Ringgold County Hospital, Mount Ayr. She was born July 31, 1917 in Nokomis, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph and Mellie Fearn. Mary spent her childhood on a farm near Nokomis until her father died when she was 13. She attended school in the farming and coal mining community. After the death of her father, Mary, her mother and brother Joe Fearn moved to Elgin. Mary began working in a garment factory at age 14. After working at the garment factory for a short time she began working at the Elgin National Watch Co., and she then was employed by Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works where she had various jobs for nearly 30 years.
Mary met and later married Elroy Wiese on April 11, 1942. They lived on a farm north of Elgin for a time until the Tollway came and forced them off the farm. They moved to Elgin, making their home on Logan St. until Elroy died in 1975. Mary continued to live in her home until 1979 when she retired and moved to Mount Ayr.
After moving to Mount Ayr, she became very active in community projects. She was an active member of the Ringgold County Hospital Auxiliary, the Mount Ayr Chamber of Commerce, Welcome Wagon, First Christian Church, and Clearview Nursing Home. She was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Rejoicing that she is now with her Lord, she will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Shirley (Gary) Digerness of Escondido, California and Sheila (Bob) Shafer of Mount Ayr; five grandchildren, Devin and Hanna Digerness of San Marcos, CA, Kristin Digerness of Escondido, CA, Michael Shafer (Erin Johnson) of Minnetonka, MN, and Amy Shafer of West Des Moines, IA; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elroy; two brothers, Joseph and Ira Fearn.
Graveside services will be held Friday, January 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Thursday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services, Elgin Chapel.

Cecil "Joe" Bryer
Cecil "Joe" Bryer, 103, of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2005, in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born July 24, 1901, in Charlvoyx, MI and was the son of Oscar and Lusina Faust Bryer.
Cecil was a resident of Elgin for most of his life and had worked at the Elgin National Watch Factory for 31 years prior to his retirement. After retirement, Cecil continued to repair watches for businesses and people in the area for 23 years. He was a longtime member of the Elgin Bible Church.
Survivors include three children, Kenneth (Grace) Bryer of Elgin, IL, Patricia (Richard) Howell of Oakarver, WA and Caryl (Robert) Fallert of Oswego, IL; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and his sister, Dorothy Yarnell of Park Forrest, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Pauline Bryer in 1995.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 28, 2005, at 1:00 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Tim Beam officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Wayside Cross Mission, Aurora, IL.

Florence "Barbara" Naiditch
Florence "Barbara" Naiditch, 82, passed away January 23, 2005 at Rosewood Care Center in Elgin in the company of her family. Barbara was born in England March 2, 1922, the daughter of Walter and May Baines.
Barbara was an officer in the British Royal Air Force during WWII and came to the United States in 1945 as the "war bride" of Herbert Naiditch who was stationed in England. She lived in Carpentersville for more than 40 years.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by 4 siblings in England and her beloved dog Bambi.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Francine Cella (Bill Briska) of Elgin, Faye (Larry) McManaman of West Dundee, Beverly Naiditch of Winston-Salem North Carolina: 2 grand daughters; Derek and Devon McManaman and a great grand daughter Gianna of West Dundee. Barbara is survived in England by her older sister Gladys Jerome and several nephews and nieces.
Barbara touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness and generosity. She lived an active life with her love for gardening, animals, walking and the theatre prior to being stricken with Alzheimer's disease. Barbara worked at the Elgin National Watch Factory, Chicago Rawhide and retired from First Card/Bank One at age 71. She was a volunteer at Sherman Hospital and a member of the Grace Community Church.
Memorial donations may be made in Barbara's name to the Anderson Animal Shelter, 1000 S. LaFox, South Elgin, IL 60177.
An open house will be held in Barbara's honor on Sunday, January 30 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the home of her daughter Francine. Please call 847-421-4022 for directions.

Rita Marie Navin
Rita Marie Navin, 72, of Elgin, died Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born October 18, 1932 in Schaumburg, IL, the daughter of Albert and Mary "Marie" (Zebrowski) Botterman.
She was a graduate of Glenbard North High School and was employed as a computer operator for Flexonic's in Bartlet. Her interests were sewing, collecting buttons and antiques. She was a member of the Church of the Redeemer.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharyn Navin (Tom) Tock of Denver, IA and Merry (Jim) Rudin of Elgin, IL; four grandchildren, Christopher, Melissa, and Daniel Rudin, and Kaylee Tock; an uncle, an aunt, and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jerry A. Botterman.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 29, 2004 at The Church of the Redeemer, 40 Center St., Elgin. Rev. Robert Stewart will officiate. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 9:00 PM, Friday at Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation, American Diabetes Association or to The Anderson Animal Shelter.

Geraldine A. Ohl
Geraldine A. Ohl, age 84, of LaValle, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 in the Sauk Co. Health Care Center, Reedsburg, WI. She was born on March 18, 1920 in Roselle, IL., the daughter of Alfred A., and Amanda (Eberling) Schalk. She was married to Rudolph F. Ohl on October 22, 1949 in Roselle, IL. They lived most of their lives in Elgin, IL. After her husband Rudolph died, she moved to the LaValle and Reedsburg areas in 1999. Geraldine was employed at Roselle State Bank for 35 years until her retirement. She was an active member of her Lutheran Church and helped with many of the Congregational Activities. Geraldine has been a resident of the Sauk Co. Health Care Center for the past few years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph; her parents; and one brother, Alfred Schalk.
She is survived by her niece, Diana (James) Mears of La Valle; one great-nephew, Scott E. Mears of LaValle; one great-niece, Kathy Mears-Reinhert of LaValle; and one great-great-niece, Shelby Reinhert of LaValle; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Schalk of Elgin, IL; nieces and nephews, Shirley Ohl-Clark, Jan Geiszler, William Schalk and Susan Davis; along with other relatives and friends.
Graveside Burial Services were conducted at Lakewood Memorial Park cemetery in Elgin. IL.

Germaine K. Sluder
Germaine K. Sluder, 90, of South Elgin, formerly of the Dundee area died Thursday, January 27, 2005 at the Tower Hill Health Care Center in South Elgin. She was born in Chicago on November 24, 1914, the daughter of John and Katherine (nee Kiel) Diedrich.
Long time resident of the Dundee area. Member of St Catherine Of Siena Church West Dundee. Former Eucharistic Minister. Active in Bible Study and Siena Senior Club.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Szymanski of Spring Grove; many nieces, nephews and friends, especially, Rose Dahlin of Marengo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Frank.
Funeral Mass will be on Monday, 10:00 AM in the St. Catherine Of Siena Church, West Dundee. The Rev. David M. Austin will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Mary cemetery, Evergreen Park. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 30, 2005 from 1:00-6:00 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Monday in the church from 9:00 AM, until time of Mass. Please omit flowers, massesappreciated.

Creg C. Wright
Creg C. Wright, 87, of Elgin, died Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Sherman West Court.
He was a devoted member and head usher of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin; past president of St. Mary's Men's Club and a member of the Elgin Knight's of Columbus. Creg was an electrician and worked for Lee Wards of Elgin for over 20 years.
Creg was preceded in death by his loving wife, Angeline of 61 years; one daughter-in-law, Donna (Eugene) Wright; three brothers and three sisters; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He is survived by five children, Mildred (Ross Bentley) Dorwaldt of Hampshire, Eugene Wright of Elgin, Ronald (Carol Biskup) Wright of Bartlett, Lucille (Ralph) McMahon of Elgin, Ralph Nathan (Patricia) Wright of Oswego; 23 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one brother, Nile Wright of Torrence, CA and one sister, Mildred Balding of Arvada, CO.
Visitation will be Friday, January 28, 2005 from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin with Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Seisser officiating. Entombment will be at Mt. Hope cemetery. Memorials may be made in his memory to St. Mary School.

Florence Adele Leman
Florence Adele Leman, 69, of Canton, IL, formerly of Charleston, IL, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at the Graham Hospital, Canton, IL.
Mrs. Leman was born March 24, 1931 on Oquakwa, IL, the daughter of Richard and Della Mae Lafond Rust. She married Leroy Leman on March 29, 1952 in Elgin, IL. He survives.
Mrs. Leman is also survived by six sons, Curtis Leman of Hampshire, IL, Kenneth Leman of Champaign, IL, Glen Leman of Arcola, IL, John Leman of Canton, IL, Aaron Leman of Charleston, IL and Jason Leman of Coupeville, WA; three daughters, Paulette Leman of Bethany, IL, Doreen Navel of Oakland, IL and Laura Levad of Highland, IL; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother; and a sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Leman; and a sister, Shirley.
Mrs. Leman was a homemaker. She had formerly worked for Brown Shoe Company in Charleston, IL. She was a member of the Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Urbana, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, January 29, 2001 at the Shrader Funeral Home, 204 North Locust Street, Arcola, IL with Rev. Happy Leman officiating. Burial will be in the Mound cemetery, Charleston, IL.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Sunday, January 28, 2001 at the funeral home.
Memorials to the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated.

Donald M. Schleifer, M.D.
Donald M. Schleifer, M.D., 73, of Crystal Lake died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001 in his home.
He was born in Chicago on July 16, 1927, the son of Fredrick and Winifred (nee Bailey) Schleifer.
He was a 42 year resident of the area and a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He received his B.S.M. and M.D. from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine, Chicago. He did his residency and internship at the Cook County Hospital, Chicago. From July to Dec. 1956 he was at the Northwestern University Medical School doing Obstetrical and Gynecological Pathology. He was in private practice from March 31, 1958 to Nov. 14, 2000 when he retired.
He was a Diplomate of The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1962. He was past Chairman OB/GYNE Department of both Sherman Hospital and Provena St. Joseph in Elgin. He was past president of Provena St. Joseph Hospital Medical Staff from 1971-9172 and Sherman Hospital from 1988-1989. He was an Assistant Professor at Rush Medical College, Rush University, Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center from 1995 to present. He was also a consultant at the Illinois Masonic Hospital, Chicago.
He belonged to many organizations such as the Elgin Seminar Club; Medical staff of Medinah Temple Chief of Medical Staff in 1980; the Elgin Masonic Temple Lodge #117, the Scottish Rite; The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology; the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists; the American Medical Association; Ill. State Medical Society; Kane County Medical Society; Ill. Obstetrics and Gynecological Assoc.; American Society of Abdominal Surgeons; International Infertility Assoc.; Gynecological Urology Society; American Geriatrics Society; Flying Physicians Assoc.; the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons; American Cancer Society; Assoc. of Gynecological Laparoscopists; the Gynecologic Laser Society Pan American Medical Assoc. and the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.
He was a Corporate Board Member and Trustee of Rockford Blue Cross and Blue Shield; a Corporate Member of Chicago Blue Cross and Blue Shield; was on the Board of Directors at Sherman Hospital; and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
He was the recipient of Sherman Hospital's Prestigious Medal of Honor on Sept. 22, 2000.
Survivors include his wife, Dina (nee Barajas) Schleifer, whom he married on June 15, 1979; his children, Philip, Fredrick, Robert, Winifred and Donald; a grandson, William Donald; a granddaughter, Megan Marie; and two brothers, Philip Schleifer M.D. of Elkmound, Wis. and Thomas Schleifer of Wisconsin.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, East Dundee, the Rev. Scott Seidler officiating. Burial will be in Windridge cemetery, Cary.
Visitation will be 2-9 p.m., Friday in the church.
Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Children Hospital, Chicago; the American Cancer Society or Immanuel Lutheran Church of East Dundee.
