Florence E. Garrelts, 84, of South Elgin passed away Monday, January 21, 2002 in Sherman Hospital. She was born September 18, 1917 in Lawrence, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Lilla (Sheppard) Davy.
Survivors include Janet (Raymond) Meyer of Algonquin, IL, Dale (Georgia) Garrelts of Utah, Gary (Penny) Garrelts of Arizona, Jack (Susan) Garrelts of Elgin, nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a sister, Betty Davy of Morrison, Illinois.
preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LaVern in 1989; a sister and a brother.
Memorial services will be held Friday, January 25, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Visitation will be at the time of services only. Burial will be private.

Norman L. Jonsson
Norman L. Jonsson, 86, of South Elgin passed away Monday, January 21, 2002, in his home. He was born June 7, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois and was the son of Arvid and Ruth (Malstrom) Jonsson. Norman was an Art Director with Leo Burnett Advertising Agency in Chicago prior to his retirement.
Member of Grace Evangelical Church of Elgin.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Drake), whom he married
on August 2, 1941; three children, Gregg (Sylvia) Jonsson of Batavia, IL, Peter Jonsson of Belvidere, IL and Linnea (Wolf) Koch of Batavia, IL; four grandsons, Scott, David, Sven and Anders.

Theodore L. Knight
Theodore L. Knight, age 93, of West Dundee, died Monday, January 21, 2002 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. Born November 17, 1908 in Elgin to Louis and Catherine (Beckman) Knight.
He was in personnel with The Boat Works. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of St. Catherine Church in Dundee, the American Legion Post 57 of Elgin, Watch City VFW #1307, the Old Timers Baseball team and Silver Skates Racing Team. He was an avid bowler.
He is survived by his wife, Erna D. (Dehmlow) Knight, to whom he was married
for 52 years; two sisters, Lorene Switzer of Elgin and Marilyn (Frank) Cassata of Montana.
preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Norbert and Harold Knight and a sister, Carol Hegstrom.
Funeral services Friday, January 25, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Dundee. Burial Algonquin cemetery. Visitation between 4:00 and 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel and after 9:00 A.M. on Friday until the time for the services at the church. Memorials to Provena St. Joseph Regional Cancer Center would be appreciated.
Paul A. Lucero
Paul A. Lucero, age 67 of Elgin passed away Monday, January 7, 2002 in San Juan, Puerto Rico while traveling. He was born March 16, 1934 in Ft. Lupton, Colorado the son of Mike and Carrie Maes Lucero. He had been a resident of the Elgin area for the past 26 years. He was employed as a U.S. Probation Officer before retiring. He was a graduate of Regis University in San Francisco and received his M.A. from Loyola University, Chicago.
He was a member of the Christian Science Church of Elgin.
Surviving are a sister; Vivien Joy Garcia of Denver, Colorado; three nieces and his companion; Terry Domschke of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister; Marguerite Rowen, brother; Woodrow Carl Lucero.

Willis A. Wylie
Willis A. Wylie, age 87, of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2002 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born July 7, 1914 in Cary, Illinois the son of James G. and Bertha Zurlinden Wylie. He had been a resident of Elgin since 1941. He was a musician and had his own music studio where he gave music lessons and had his own dance band.
He was a former member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Elgin.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Delbert (Lois) Oberst of Elgin and several grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruth Willigman Wylie and a sister, Alice Dowell.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2002 at 7:30 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. Burial will be private in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be held Friday from 6:00 P.M. until the time of services in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Shriner's Hospital or the charity of one's choice.
Erman Blevins
Erman Blevins, 72, formerly of Carpentersville, died on Sunday, January 5, 2003 in Pike County Kentucky.
Erman was a veteran of the Army and served in both Germany as a guard at the Nuremburg War trials and later in the Korean War.
Services will be held at the Fox Valley Baptist Church, Rt. 68 in East Dundee Monday, January 27 at 7 PM.
Charles W. "Skip" Brady
Charles W. "Skip" Brady, 60, of Hampshire, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2003 in his home.
He was born October 25, 1942 in Chicago, the son of William and Charlene (Havens) Brady.
Skip grew up in the Palos Hills area and graduated from Carl Sandberg High School. He then served in the U.S. Marine Corp in the early 1960's. Mr. Brady was a a dental technician for many years primarily with Campbell Dental Lab in Elk Grove Village.
Surviving are his wife, Donna (Collins) Brady, whom he married
in 1995; two daughters, Sharon (Mark) Overby of Lakewood and Barbara (Tim) Naughton of Crystal Lake; two granddaughters, Jordan and Morgan; and a sister, Norma Korbel of Wonder Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jack Brady.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 27, at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire with the Rev. Steve Ziegler officiating. Burial will be in the Hampshire Center cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Helen C. Griffin
Helen C. Griffin, 100, of Elgin passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at Sherman West Court, Elgin. She was born September 23, 1902 in St. Charles Twp., the daughter of William and Lucy Roche Foley. She had been a resident of the Elgin area all of her life. She was a graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1920. She had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Co. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin.
Surviving are her son, Gene (Gail) Griffin of Waukegan, son-in-law, William Caughlin of Elgin, five grandchildren, Patrick and Erin Griffin, Collenn (Michael) Swanson, Timothy (Mary-Grace) and Eilleen Caughlin, five great grandchildren, Rebecca and Steven Swanson, Ryan Caughlin and Jordan Wells and Krystal Sanchez.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles, a daughter, Maureen Caughlin and a great granddaughter, Mary Maureen Caughlin.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin to St. Mary's Catholic Church for mass at 11 a.m. with Rev. Edward Seisser officiating. Burial will be held in Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
James G. Keegan
James G. Keegan, 66, of Carpentersville died Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at his home. He was born in Chicago on July 7, 1936 to Frank and Louise Keegan.
James was a 39 year resident of Carpentersville. He was an eight year employee of Lutheran Social Services as a substance abuse counselor. He was a longtime friend of Bill W. He was a Marine Corp. Veteran, a member of the Carpentersville VFW Post #5915 and a member of the Carpentersville Loyal Order of Moose.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy L. (nee Padovano) Keegan, four children: Debra (John) Meschewski of West Dundee, Donna Keegan of Chicago, James D. (Stephanie) Keegan of Lakemoor and Dawn (Thomas) Wenckaitis of Carpentersville, one sister, Dianne (Gary) Cook of Fayetteville, AR, four grandchildren, Andrew, Joseph and Elizabeth Meschewski of West Dundee and Tristin Wenckaitis of Carpentersville, three nephews and six nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation is on Friday from 3-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or charity of one's choice.
Robert C. LaBrot
Robert C. LaBrot, 66, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born June 20, 1936 in Wausau, WI, the son of Bertram and Dorothy Belanger LaBrot.
He was raised in Stevens Point, WI and has lived in Milwaukee, Arlington Heights and Elgin. He was a computer programmer, personnel director, president of the Midwest Council of Personnel Administrators 198201983 and a long time member of the Elgin Choral Union and past president of their board of directors. He was also a camping and sailing enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peavler) of 39 years, one son, Michael (Monica), two daughters, Suzanne and Heidi (Sean) McDowell, two grandchildren, Isabelle and Carter.
Memorial Mass will be held Saturday 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elgin. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Elgin Choral Union or American Diabetes Association or Charity of Choice. Arrangements by Fox Valley Cremation Service.
Francis E. "Dan" McGrew
Francis E. "Dan" McGrew, 70, of Burlington, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2003 in Elgin.
He was born February 12, 1932 in Flora, IL, the son of Ralph and Dorothy (Slover) McGrew. He was employed by Central School District 301 for 32 years. Mr. McGrew served as a village trustee for the town of Burlington for several years. He was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Gerry (Miller) McGrew, sons Edwin (Donna) McGrew and grandson Connor of Dawsonville, GA, Mark (Pam) McGrew and grandchildren Rachel and Sean of Elburn, daughter Donna (Doug) Knox and grandchildren Ryan and Brandon of Burlington, sisters Beverly (Tony) Heal of Sycamore and Alma (Allan) Olson of Shabbona and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be private. Memorial Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 26 at the Burlington United Methodist Church, 195 Center St. in Burlington with the Rev. Brian William officiating.

Lenore S. "Lee" Nagle, age 77, of South Elgin, formerly of Streamwood. Lee was called home on January 22, 2003. She was greeted there by her husband, Ed, infant daughter, Mary, parents Bill and Noreen, sister June, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Mike, Mary and Nancy and nieces and nephews.
