Mary S. Flodin (nee Shirk)
Mary S. Flodin (nee Shirk), 76, of Schaumburg, formerly of Elgin, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born July 7, 1924 in Greensburg, IN, the daughter of Jessie Epps and Raymond Shirk.
She was an Elderly Care Housing Administrator at Bowman Hospital, Chicago, and was a retired Occupational Therapist Assistant at Plum Grove Nursing Home, Palatine. She was Past President of the Elgin Women's Club, a Board member of the Friends of Judson College, member of the Board of Sherman West Court, former Board member of Sherman Hospital, and was a Charter Member of Congregational United Church of Christ, Arlington Heights.
Survivors include her husband, John; children, Lucinda Flodin (Dennis Frederick), Melinda (Walter) Strait and Marcy (Rob) Engelking; grandchildren, Sarah (Matt) O'Connor, Walter Strait, Forest Flodin, Cody Flodin and Ryan Engelking; and a sister, Jane (Jerald) Jackson.
Thursday, January 25, 2001 in state at Congregational United Church of Christ, 1001 W. Kirchoff Road, Arlington Heights from 10:30 AM until time of services at 11 AM with Reverend Ernest Cockrell officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 PM Wednesday, at the Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral Home, 330 West Golf Road, Schaumburg.

Eugene Issel
Eugene Issel, 68, of Carpentersville passed away Sunday, January 21, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born June 6, 1932 in Chicago, the son of John and Bertha Issel.
He had been a resident of Carpentersville since 1960. He had been employed by U.S. Can Company for 20 years before retiring. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post #57 of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Elvera Cortellasi Issel, whom he married
on August 3, 1957; three daughters, Barbara (Keith) Poppen of South Elgin, Teresa Angsten of McHenry and Maria Issel of Schaumburg; a son, Robert Issel of Carpentersville; three grandchildren, Christopher, Scott and Jenna; and a brother, Harold (Shirley) Issel of Phoenix, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ruth, Betty and Caroline; and two brothers, Leo and John Issel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, January 24, 2001 in the Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St. (Corner of S. Third and Oregon), West Dundee. Burial will be in Dundee Township East cemetery.

David Michael Lambert
David Michael Lambert, infant, passed away Jan. 17, 2001 in Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge.
He was born Dec. 9, 2000, the son of Michael and Rebecka Lambert. Ourangel stayed long enough to touch our hearts, along with many others.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m., Thursday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, the Rev. Mark Lund officiating. Burial will be private at Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.

Roxanna McFarland
Roxanna McFarland, 63, of Elgin, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001 in Alderwood Health Care Center, South Elgin.
She was born Aug. 7, 1937, the daughter of Rockwell and Georgia McFarland.
She was a member of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints, Elgin Ward.
Survivors include two sisters, Peggy and Clorann McFarland; and two brothers, Everett McFarland and Tom McFarland.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with Bishop Douglas Heaton officiating. Private burial will be in River HillsMemorial Park in Batavia.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m., Tuesday in the funeral home.
Gladys M. Seyller
Gladys M. Seyller, 75, of Burlington passed away Sunday, January 21, 2001 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
She was born September 21, 1925 in East Dundee, the daughter of Louis and Ida (Hintz) Duewel.
Gladys married
Richard F. Seyller on April 19, 1947 in East Dundee and has resided in Burlington since 1948.
Mrs. Seyller was the secretary for the Burlington Elementary School for 17 years, retiring in 1990, and had formerly worked for the Elgin Watch Factory. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Burlington.
Surviving are two sons, Philip (Gina) Seyller of Elgin and Steven (Polly) Seyller of Belvidere; two daughters, Jody Seyller of Burlington and Kaye (Norman) Thompson of Elgin; seven grandchildren; a great grandson; a large extended family; and many good friends.
Mrs. Seyller was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard on March 1, 1991; four brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at the St. John Lutheran Church, 13N535 French Rd, Burlington with the Rev. Edward A. Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Burlington Township Union cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St, Hampshire and at the church on Wednesday from 10 to 11 AM.

Rev. Onis Varney
Rev. Onis Varney, age 73 of Elgin passed away Monday, January 22, 2001 in his home.
He was born June 16, 1927 in Stone, Kentucky the son of Henry and Florence Hensley Varney. He had been a resident of Elgin from 1961 until moving to Cherry, IL in 1990 and then returning to Elgin in 2000. He had been employed as a Die Setter by Chicago Rawhide in Elgin for 27 years before retiring. He had served as a minister at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Elgin. He was a veteran of the Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Elgin.
Surviving are his wife-Millie Deskins Varney whom he married
on October 22, 1955; three daughters, Devonna (David) Sorenson of Mulberry, AR, Cathy Varney of Elgin, Laura (Gary) Singleton of Elgin; two sons, Onis "Dean" (Tracy) Varney of Elgin, Gary (Libby) Deskins of Union, IL; nine grandchildren, Adam (Jeralyn), Steven, Elissa, Candice, Austin, Charey, Elsie, Gary (Kim) Deskins Jr., and Sara Deskins; a great-granddaughter, Emily; two brothers, James (Etta) Varney of Osseo, MI and Woody (Pam) Varney of Lagrange, OH.

Erman Blevins
Erman Blevins, 72, formerly of Carpentersville, died on Sunday, January 5, 2003 in Pike County Kentucky.
Erman was a veteran of the Army and served in both Germany as a guard at the Nuremburg War trials and later in the Korean War.
Services will be held at the Fox Valley Baptist Church, Rt. 68 in East Dundee Monday, January 27 at 7 PM.
Helen C. Griffin
Helen C. Griffin, 100, of Elgin passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at Sherman West Court, Elgin. She was born September 23, 1902 in St. Charles Twp., the daughter of William and Lucy Roche Foley. She had been a resident of the Elgin area all of her life. She was a graduate of Elgin High School Class of 1920. She had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Co. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin.
Surviving are her son, James (Gail) Griffin of Waukegan, son-in-law, William Caughlin of Elgin, five grandchildren, Patrick and Erin Griffin, Collenn (Michael) Swanson, Timothy (Mary-Grace) and Eilleen Caughlin, five great grandchildren, Rebecca and Steven Swanson, Ryan Caughlin and Jordan Wells and Krystal Sanchez.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles, a daughter, Maureen Caughlin and a great granddaughter, Mary Maureen Caughlin.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin to St. Mary's Catholic Church for mass at 11 a.m. with Rev. Edward Seisser officiating. Burial will be held in Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
Shirley R. Hayden
Shirley R. Hayden, 71, of Elgin passed away Friday, January 17, 2003 in Lexington Health Care in Wheeling, IL. She was born July 5, 1931 in Elgin and was the daughter of George and Hazel Lang. She had been a resident of Elgin all her life. She had been employed by Young Shoe World at Ackemann's Department Store in Elgin for 20 years and then assisted her husband Dr. Peter Hayden in his office before retiring. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church of Elgin.
Surviving are one daughter, Debra Ann Christensen of Chicago, one son, Kevin (Lisa) Christensen of Buffalo Grove, IL, three grandchildren, Nathan, Neal and Claire Christensen, two sisters, Audrey Degener of Loves Park, IL and Barbara Jewell of Sandwich, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Gene Christensen and her second husband, Dr. Peter Hayden.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 25 at 3 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin with Rev. Mabel Rice officiating. Burial will be private in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Saturday from 2 p.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Alzheimers Association.
William Jesse Kahle
William Jesse Kahle, 80, of Tupelo, OK, formerly of Capron, IL passed away January 19, 2003 in Oklahoma. He was born January 12, 1923 in Hampshire, IL and was the son of Edward and Frances (Stringer) Kahle. Graduate of Elgin High School in 1940. He was a Veteran, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. William was associated with farming his whole life, and retired from Farm & Fleet in 1988. He moved to Tupelo, OK, along with his wife, to his ranch, in March of 1996.
He was a member of VFW Post 1198 of Colgate, OK, a lifetime member of American Simmental Association and a member of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife, Doris (Richardson), whom he married
on January 27, 1946, three children, Kenneth (Olga) Kahle of Newton, MS, Joyce (Dave) Stege of Evansville, WI and Barbara (Terry) McCurry of Marengo, IL, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, his sister, Phyllis Anderson of Wisconsin, many nieces and nephews and a lot of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Fern Jorgensen.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with Rev. Jeff Borgerson officiating. Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock, IL. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
James G. Keegan
James G. Keegan, 66, of Carpentersville died Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at his home. He was born in Chicago on July 7, 1936 to Frank and Louise Keegan.
James was a 39 year resident of Carpentersville. He was an eight year employee of Lutheran Social Services as a substance abuse counselor. He was a longtime friend of Bill W. He was a Marine Corp. Veteran, a member of the Carpentersville VFW Post #5915 and a member of the Carpentersville Loyal Order of Moose.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy L. (nee Padovano) Keegan, four children: Debra (John) Meschewski of West Dundee, Donna Keegan of Chicago, James D. (Stephanie) Keegan of Lakemoor and Dawn (Thomas) Wenckaitis of Carpentersville, one sister, Dianne (Gary) Cook of Fayetteville, AR, four grandchildren, Andrew, Joseph and Elizabeth Meschewski of West Dundee and Tristin Wenckaitis of Carpentersville, three nephews and six nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation is on Friday from 3-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or charity of one's choice.
Merrill E. "Skip" Sinclair
Merrill E. "Skip" Sinclair, 72, of Elgin, IL passed away Monday, January 20, 2003 at home. He was born September 16, 1930 in Elgin to Merrill Mario and Helen Clarissa (Bradley) Sinclair. He had served in the Army during the Korean War and was employed as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Union Local 150 and a 35 year member of American Legion Post #57.
He is survived by his wife, Dorotea (Gutierrez) Sinclair of Elgin, to whom he was married
for 52 years; a son, Merrill E. Sinclair, Jr. of Elgin; a daughter, Sonia (Jim) Arrott of Elgin; brother, Sydney Sinclair; two grandchildren, Brook Arrott and Tiffany Arrott, both of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will take place Friday, January 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Elgin with Rev. Miroslaw A. Reikowski celebrating the mass. Burial will be private. Visitation will take place Thursday, January 23 between 4-8 p.m. at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel and after 9 a.m. on Friday until the mass at 11 a.m. Please omit flowers, with memorials in his name to Provena St. Joseph Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
William C. Brown
William C. Brown, 72, of Knoxville, TN passed away at St. Mary's Residential Hospice on January 20, 2006. He was a member of St. John Newman Catholic Church in Farragut, TN. William and his wife, Jennifer, both were from Elgin, IL and moved to Knoxville in 1965. William retired from Johnson & Johnson Co. in 1994 after 30 years of service. He was an avid University of Tennessee supporter and enjoyed a getaway to the beach or warm sunshine by his pool.

Survived by his loving family, wife, Jennifer L. Brown; son, Stephen (Demaris) Brown; daughter, Julie Brown; grandchildren, Analisa, Katelyn and Nicholas Brown.
