John Mervin Lohbauer
John Mervin Lohbauer, 71, of Elgin passed away at Manor Care Center, Arlington Heights, IL on Friday, January 20, 2006. He was born on July 2, 1934 in Elgin and was the son of Mervin Conrad and Lucille (Suring) Lohbauer. John graduated from Elgin High School in 1952, and Purdue University in 1956. He went to Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI in 1957, and served in the U.S. Navy as an Officer until 1960 He was president of M.C. Lohbauer Heating and Air Conditioning until his retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin, and the Elgin Shrine Club.
Survivors include his son, John of Arkansas; daughter, Jane (Daniel) Carter of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Sarah, Elizabeth, twins, Grace and Charles Carter of Chicago, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Gerald in infancy.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at 5 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 PM until the time of services in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Edith M. Mickelsen
Edith M. Mickelsen, 78, of Burlington passed away suddenly Friday, January 20, 2006 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb.
She was born February 18, 1927 in Chicago, the daughter of Sam and Sigrid (Clausen) Thorgesen. Edith married
Donald B. Mickelsen at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Charles on October 5, 1946. They resided in Elgin for 28 years before moving to Burlington Township. Mrs. Mickelsen was a former employee of the Burgess-Norton Mfg. Co. of Geneva and of Lee Wards in Elgin. She was a member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church of North Plato, the Monday Morning Quilters, and was a former Sunday School teacher.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Don; two daughters, Sandra (Blaine) Royer of Mundelein and Lorene (Bill) Perkins of Roscoe; five grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Flickinger, Emily Caldeira, Chris Mains, Nicole Mains and Allison Perkins; a sister, Wilma (Leon) Peterson of Elgin; brothers, Nels (Margie) Thorgesen of Aurora and Kenneth (Judy) Thorgesen of Maple Park; and a sister-in-law, Ardyne Thorgesen of Colorado Springs, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Sam Thorgesen and Robert in infancy; and a sister, Marie (Jack) Blaisdell.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, 43W301 Plank Rd., North Plato with Pastor Gerhard Mau officiating. Burial will follow in the North Plato cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Plato.

Walter H. Stredde
Walter H. Stredde, 71, of South Elgin passed away Saturday, January 21, 2006 in his home. He was born July 6, 1934 in Bridgewater, SD, the son of Fred and Ulinka (Martin) Stredde. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Elgin. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed basketball at Elgin High School. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, and he will be missed.
Survivors include his wife, Lois L. (Raymond) Stredde, whom he married
on July 12, 1958 in Aurora; son, Douglas (Diane) Stredde of Elgin; daughter, Wendy (Andrew) Michaelsen of Cranston, RI; grandchildren, Ashley and Caitlin Stredde and Rebekka, Hannah and Christian Michaelsen; sisters, Lorinda (Oliver) Felt, Ruth Stredde, Bertha Stredde, Dorothy Wolfe, Ella Gossel, Mary Ann (Mike) Jurgensen and Ulinka Crippen; and nieces and nephews.

Florence Schneider Wilkinson
Florence Schneider Wilkinson, 89, of Melbourne, FL, formerly of the Elgin and Carpentersville area, passed away Friday, January 20, 2006 in Melbourne.
She was born January 27, 1916 in Burlington, the daughter of Henry and Marie (Fohrman) Seyller. She married
Alphonse J. Schneider in 1935 and they farmed in Union, IL and then Whitewater, WI before moving to Elgin. Florence was retired from the Waltham Watch Corp. in Elgin.
Following Alphonse's passing in 1961, Florence married
Charles Wilkinson in 1973 and they resided in Carpentersville before moving to Florida in 1975. She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Indialantic, FL and was active in Senior Citizen groups at her church and in Indian Harbor Beach and Eau Gallie, FL.
Surviving are six children, Marlowe Schneider of Atlanta, GA, Duane (Sandra) Schneider of Indialantic, FL, Marvin (Kathleen) Schneider of Albuquerque, NM, Jan (Kristian) Wetherbe-Glintborg of Elgin, Larry (Mary) Schneider and Jim (Bonnie) Schneider both of Ft. Atkinson, WI; 13 grandchildren; step grandchildren, Elsie (Ralph) Ward of Elgin, Edward (Pat) Wilkinson of Arizona; step son-in-law, Don Schultz of Elgin; 10 step grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and two brothers, Marvlyn (Sally) Seyller and Lloyd (Doris) Seyller both of Hampshire.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Alphonse and Charles; a son, Allen Schneider in 1957; stepdaughter, Doris Schultz; sisters, Lorena Reiser and Viola Devine; and brothers, Vernon and Floyd Seyller.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson St., Hampshire. Burial will be in the St. Charles Borromeo cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire with Rosary at 4:15 PM.
Dorothy Dahn
Dorothy Dahn, 89, of Elgin died Sunday, January 21, 2001 in Heritage Manor in Elgin.
She was born July 16, 1911 in Oden, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph and Dollie Ann Litteral Harris.
She had been a resident of Elgin since 1927 and had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Co. before retiring.
Surviving are a daughter, Pattie Quandt of Elgin; a son, Ronald (Carol) Hecht of South Elgin; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adelbert Dahn in 1973; five sisters; two brothers; a son-in-law, Donald Quandt; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Hecht; and two grandchildren in infancy.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 AM in Bluff City cemetery with Rev. Mary Wise officiating. There will be no visitation. The Laird Funeral Home in Elgin is in charge of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice or to DuPage County Hospice.
Mary S. Flodin (nee Shirk)
Mary S. Flodin (nee Shirk), 76, of Schaumburg, formerly of Elgin, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born July 7, 1924 in Greensburg, IN, the daughter of Jessie Epps and Raymond Shirk.
She was an Elderly Care Housing Administrator at Bowman Hospital, Chicago, and retired as an Occupational Therapist Assistant at Plum Grove Nursing Home, Palatine. She was Past President of the Elgin Women's Club, a Board member of the Friends of Jusdon College, member of the Board of Sherman Westcare, former Board member of Sherman Hospital, and was a Charter Member of Congregational United Church of Christ, Arlington Heights.
Survivors include her husband, John; children, Lucinda (Dennis) Frederick, Melinda (Walter) Strait and Marcy (Rob) Engelking; grandchildren, Sarah (Matt) O'Connor, Walter Strait, Forest Flodin, Cody Flodin and Ryan Engelking; and a sister, Jane (Jerald) Jackson.
Thursday, January 25, 2001 in state at Congregational United Church of Christ, 1001 W. Kirchoff Road, Arlington Heights from 10:30 AM until time of services at 11 AM with Reverend Ernest Cockrell officiating. Burial will be in Ridgewood cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 PM Wednesday, at the Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral Home, 330 West Golf Road, Schaumburg.

Eugene Issel
Eugene Issel, 68, of Carpentersville passed away Sunday, January 21, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born June 6, 1932 in Chicago, the son of John and Bertha Issel.
He had been a resident of Carpentersville since 1960. He had been employed by U.S. Can Company for 20 years before retiring. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post #57 of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Elvera Cortellasi Issel, whom he married
on August 3, 1957; three daughters, Barbara (Keith) Poppen of South Elgin, Teresa Angsten of McHenry and Maria Issel of Schaumburg; a son, Robert Issel of Carpentersville; three grandchildren, Christopher, Scott and Jenna; and a brother, Harold (Shirley) Issel of Phoenix, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Ruth, Betty and Caroline; and two brothers, Leo and John Issel.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, January 24, 2001 in the Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St. (Corner of S. Third and Oregon), West Dundee. Burial will be in Dundee Township East cemetery.

Roger A. Riebock
Roger A. Riebock, 54, of Elgin passed away Friday evening, January 19, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
He was born August 13, 1946 in Elgin, the son of Floyd and Evelyn Haut Riebock.
He had been a resident of Elgin all of his life. He was a graduate of Larkin High School Class of 1964. He was a veteran, having served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. After being employed by Illinois Bell for 24 years, he and his wife, Roberta, purchased Rog's Town Liquor, which he had operated for the last six years. Roger was a devoted husband and father who volunteered his time and talent in many ways. He was involved with Pop Warner Football League for years, acting as head coach of the Elgin Lightweight Bears for six years. He also participated in the Elgin Continental Little League, where he coached both his son's teams. Roger's generous spirit, fun-loving personality and love of life will be remembered and missed deeply.
Surviving are his wife, Roberta Krogh Riebock, whom he married
on June 25, 1977; a daughter, Marisa 20; two sons, Eric 15 and Ben 10 all of Elgin; his parents of Elgin; a sister, Judy (Jerry) Hutson of Elgin; a brother, Ron (Ann) Riebock of Elgin; and his father- and mother-in-law, Robert and Miriam Krogh of South Elgin.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 23, at 1 PM in Community United Methodist Church, 400 W. Spring St., South Elgin with Rev. Mary Wise officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Monday in the Laird Funeral Home, Eglin and Tuesday from 12:30 PM until the time of services in the church.
Gladys M. Seyller
Gladys M. Seyller, 75, of Burlington passed away Sunday, January 21, 2001 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
She was born September 21, 1925 in East Dundee, the daughter of Louis and Ida (Hintz) Duewel.
Gladys married
Richard F. Seyller on April 19, 1947 in East Dundee and has resided in Burlington since 1948.
Mrs. Seyller was the secretary for the Burlington Elementary School for 17 years, retiring in 1990, and had formerly worked for the Elgin Watch Factory. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Burlington.
Surviving are two sons, Philip (Gina) Seyller of Elgin and Steven (Polly) Seyller of Belvidere; two daughters, Jody Seyller of Burlington and Kaye (Norman) Thompson of Elgin; seven grandchildren; a great grandson; a large extended family; and many good friends.
Mrs. Seyller was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard on March 1, 1991; four brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at the St. John Lutheran Church, 13N535 French Rd, Burlington with the Rev. Edward A. Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Burlington Township Union cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St, Hampshire and at the church on Wednesday from 10 to 11 AM.

Thomas O. Skiles
Thomas O. Skiles, 70, of Sleepy Hollow died Friday, January 19, 2001 at his home.
He was born in Springfield on September 30, 1930, the son of Mark and Frances (nee Purvines) Skiles.
He attended Knox College, graduated from Northwestern University, and earned a Masters Degree from Boston University. He served in the United States Coast Guard. He operated Thomas O. Skiles Personnel Consulting, a company whose focus was establishing Employee Assistance Programs. He was affiliated with the Renz Center of Elgin. Tom was a good and faithful friend to many people throughout the Fox Valley.
He is survived by a son, Thomas O., Jr. of St. Louis, MO; a daughter, Susan (Robert Luke) Skiles of Carbondale, Illinois; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Luke; and a sister, Frances (Robert) Doddridge of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Peter; and his long time companion and "Special Friend" Nikki Perry.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 1:30 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be on Monday from 6 to 9 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Wanda L. Bohne
Wanda L. Bohne, 76 of South Elgin passed away Sunday, January 19, 2003 in her home. She was born November 27, 1926 in Canton, Oklahoma the daughter of Charles and Lena Childress Grothe. She had been a resident of South Elgin since 1952. She had been employed by Valley Bank in South Elgin and then the Village of South Elgin in the Water Department before retiring. She and her husband owned the South Elgin Kiddie Park and she was Treasurer of South Elgin Super Wash.
She was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church of Elgin. She was President of the bi-centennial committee in South Elgin. She was active with her husband in antique car clubs and the Horseless Carriage Club, and the Bentley Drivers Club.
Surviving are her husband, Eugene whom she married
on December 8, 1943; a son, Mark (Sue) Bohne of South Elgin; two grandchildren, Wyatt and Ellen Bohne; a sister, Mary (Dick) Traub of Canon City, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Joseph F. Kulak officiating. Entombment will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to St. Laurence Catholic Church.
